Getting a Jackie/Nori Slice of life out of my system
Jackie knocked on the door, waiting for a response of the woman inside he wanted to check in on.
"Come in?" An unsure voice asked, like it wasn't awaiting any guests.
"Hey Chiquita." He said with a soft, warm tone in his voice, not wanting to come on too loude or overwhelming. "You haveing a me-time-phase? Haven't seen you in a few days."
Nori watched him and his warm, loving smile as he came closer. His presence was always soft, careing and tender when he checked on her while she had her me-time phases. Sometimes the world was just too exhausting for her and she needed time to charge up her batteries.
She nodded as he stood beside her, tired, exhausted but happy to see him.
"Mind if we have some me-time together?"
He didn't need to wait long for his answer, as she lifted her blanked seconds after his last word, with a loveing smile. He knew he was always welcomed in her space, but he still asked, in case that this was a special case.
As soon as he laid beside her, he hugged her tight and gave her a smooch on the forehead. Her three favorite things. Jackie, huggs and a kiss on the forehead. Taking it from her blissfull smile, he had the feeling that he gave her batteries a charge boost right now.
"Are you going to work tonight?"
"Yea. Got a good gig for some people." His hand played with her hair while she traced the cyberware on his temple.
"Maybe I'll come by later with Val." She said a bit sheepishly. Jackie had a lot of work the last few weeks. A lot was going on in NC right now and it showed in the fixers work. All kind of people wanted something and Jackie had the people who would do it. "So no side-chicks today." She chuckled.
"Aye, you put me in a tough place here, Chiquita. Ya want me to break the poor side-chicas hearts?" He said, putting on his badest acting.
"Just today. A little bit."
"Alright. Alright. No side-chicks today." A light hearted promise he sealed with another kiss on her forehead.

Later when he walked into the afterlife, Claire was as always the first one he met there. She was already preparing the usual bottles and drinks that would walk over the counter as soon as the afterlife opens.
"Hey claire."
"Hey Jackie, how's it going?"
"Good. But I have bad news for you."
Claire put down the bottle she held in her hands, waiting calmly for him to go on, knowing that it wasn't really bad news. That wasn't his way to give them to someone if there were one.
"Nori is maybe coming by today. She said no side chicks. Sorry my love." He tried to sound sad, but had his typical cheeky smile on his face.
"Awwww. You're telling me now? I put on my cutest underwear, just for you."
A chuckle came from both of them.
"Maybe if you ask Nori, I'm allowed to see. She has a soft spot for ya."
"What a coincident, I have one for her as well. I will order some strawberries, just in case. Can't make her sad because she can't order a Strawberry collada" Claire shone a warm smile at the big merc. It was clear as day that he had more than a soft spot for Nori as well, and Claire loved it. You could always tell that he is excited when his little sunflower said that she would visit him at work.
"Thanks Claire. You're the best."
"I know." She said while she watched how this mountain of a man walked to the back with a lighthearted step. Already looking forward to see his little flower later that evening.

I have a maybe silly question, but uh. How do I become a more interesting person? I have a horrible habit of staying home and not going out and doing things. How do I not do that? This feels very goofy as a thing to ask, but you appear to have an interesting life, therefore making you a reliable source. Do with this what you will, and please say hi to your creatures! Here is my mischief goblin Jammer for your troubles:
It may seem backwards, but...don't try to be interesting, try to be interested.
Find things you find engaging, and then find ways to pursue them. It's best if you can find some kind of group or community that also does the thing you want to try--if you're struggling to find things you like, then just start trying things local to you. You've probably got a local birdwatching group, or a sewing circle, or a community theater, or a historical society, or a comic shop that does game nights, or a group of regulars volunteering at an animal shelter, or stained glass classes, or a makerspace, or any number of little communities that are out there. Try them! The first meeting will be the worst. And if you hate it, you don't have to keep at it, and trying will give you a fun story. Sooner or later you will land on something you like and then...keep turning up.
And if you're not finding things local and in person, then just take up whatever strikes your fancy at home. If you could be incredible at any three hobbies, what would they be? What's stopping you from starting those hobbies? You're going to fail at them when you start but you're already failing at them now by not starting, so what do you have to lose?
Here's the thing: nobody wants to talk with someone who's just singing their own victories. The best stories are the ones where we tried something new and different and silly and strange and maybe messed it up, but had fun. And the best stories are shared--ask other people about the things they're into, be interested and engaged and maybe see if they're open to teaching you a little, if their interests seem fun to you. It's not about being interesting, it's about sharing passion.
So find the things you're passionate about, and keep at them even after you've failed, and the rest will follow.
And pet your cat, he's doing his job so well!

one thing i havent seen anyone talk about yet in dungeon meshi is how sometimes the party just fucking. forgets important info. and usually it bites them in the ass but it feels so natural and human. like yeah my ass would probably forget what namari said about senshi's pot too. and then whatever plans the party makes are always built on half-remembered info, autism sauce, luck, and a solid chunk of actual dungeoneering expertise at its core
it's actually what really makes me wonder sometimes if dunmeshi was based on an actual dnd campaign, because the goofy fuck ups just SCREAM "pack of dipshits playing dnd together and NO ONE is taking down notes"
and then ryoko ties it all together into a unique sequence of events that never perfectly resembles A) whatever the reader thinks they might do or B) whatever the party had planned in the first place and turns it and its just augh. its so good!! i wanna see what these freaks think of next!!! what fucked up shit are you guys gonna do to get out of this one!!
