Hi, I’m the anon who sent that ask about my girlfriend saying something to me about culturally appropriating transfems for wanting to wear a strap while receiving anal. I saw velvet nations response to that so I wanted to clear a few things up I guess. She took back what she said after I mentioned gay men and made a joke about forgetting that men exist which still kinda felt uncomfortable? Im not a trans man (I am transmasc +genderfluid) but that comment still made feel weird considering she kind of regards me as a man sometimes, and were poly and shes literally also dating a cis man lol.

This isnt the first time shes said something that felt kind of… “trf-y” i guess? I always am able to basically redirect her and educate her especially if shes being ignorant about other trans experiences but she is an ex-conservative white woman and… it sometimes shows. Its a work in progress and I have educated her about a lot of things throughout our relationship and I appreciate how willing she is to learn and grow but it definitely does hurt when she throws a curveball like that at me. This specific instance was about a gender affirming type of sex that *I wanted to have* so it was especially hurtful :/ and like I expressed in my original ask I was literally stunned into silence and could only stutter “but gay men..” so like. Def wouldve had a talk about it if it hadnt caught me so off guard while I was trying to prepare myself to have sex lol. That plus the fact that bottoming is especially vulnerable for me so when she said that it struck a very sensitive chord.

I appreciate that the comments were worried for me and I did want everyone to know that I usually dont let stuff like that slide and she does have a good heart but Im afraid she can be misguided sometimes… its one of the reasons I feel so stressed about the rise of anti trans masculinity in transfem circles because I swear I can tell that shit is rubbing off on my girlfriend(s) (im poly and i have two trans gfs and the other one posted a joke about “theyfabs” yesterday so like…. Yeah) I have seen both of my gfs come across some wild trf-y shit that was basically demonizing transmascs or making fun of theyfabs and Ive talked to both of them about it and they both agree that its kinda weird but both of them constantly drop bombs like that on me!! So i dont really know what to do besides keep talking to them about the shit that makes me uncomfortable and hoping for the best. Thank you velvet for letting me rant and thank you velvet nation for being concerned about me.

So i gave them a hat that more closely looked kinda chef like? though yes i do know that the hat is a cultural thing but i wanted it to look more pillowy and it also looks like a mushroom now. I also made bonnie dress in a shirt inspired by chef uniforms but with a less modern look by using lace to tie it close instead. also they have wrapped hands to probably cover up burns/could also be simply that maybe bonnie likes to practice boxing with Isabeau and they do basic wraps on their hands to help with soreness. uhh any other notes is that yes I'm a Petronile is buff truther and in my mind has a body type close to Vi from arcane (lean and muscular versus someone like Isabeau who is a bigger guy). Also as illuded in game (Very vaguely i think), Petronille took bonnie with her to escape an abusive household and hopefully give bonnie the loving guardian she wished had been there for her (i imagine in my version she's probably close to siffrin's age)

i'd like to say that this year was more of a planning year than a writing year; not to say that i didn't write; but i spent a lot more time on outlining, worldbuilding, and a new skill that i've added to the fold -- conlanging(!!). because of that, i didn't hit all the goals i made last year but tbh that's aight. without further ado tho:

2024 GOAL STATUS

❌ reach 150k words written overall ✔️ finish cage like it’s GOING to happen i will it ❌ finish the first draft of paramour!!!

so i'm only 1 for 3 and tbh i'm not that mad about it. finishing cage back in february was one of the biggest writing highlights of this year because i showed myself i could do it, i CAN finish something of novel length if i really put my mind to it.

(and yeah, i really did go and get it printed out lmao)

and more than just the accomplishment of writing 82k in one piece, it's also helped me really understand and work out what systems and processes i need to have set up prior to writing to make it work. this is why outlining has been such a huge undertaking for me this year, in varying levels of success (lmao). having a fully fleshed out outline with the literal beat by beat playout of how i want the story to go helped me TREMENDOUSLY in pushing through cage. even on chapters that were rough for me, having that outline to fallback on made it so much easier to stick to a every week one chapter system. and its something i plan to implement with my original wips too.

the only issue is, because original work inherently requires more work since there's no framework except what's in your own head... its been a bit slower for me writing wise. BUT next year i will be operating out of a desperate need for whimsey so i think i'm going to make my goals much.... less stressful than i did this year.

2024 WRITING HIGHLIGHTS

FINISHED CAGE! biggest accomplishment in my life right now tbh. seriously if you haven't and you have any interest in overwatch at all go read it and leave me nice comments while you're at it lol. technically i am working on the interlude piece between cage and its eventual sequel, schism, but that's been kinda slow going as i don't have much motivation to do it right now. first chapter of it is also up on ao3 though -> interlude - quiet

created a conlang??? in a very bizarre turn of events i have created a conlang for my wip with the working title HE WHO SMITES THE SUN (under the tag #s: ph). the language itself is called dzonime'si and if you want to see more of that process check out my #ren fights linguistics tag :)

finished the entire "first draft" of my wip betwixt thumb and forefinger--which is actually an idea that i only thought of this year so that's fun. for the uninitiated it is a gothic reimagining of twilight but with a shit ton more body horror and prochoice commentary. the reason first draft is in quotations is because it is technically a 16k word long outline that i am considering draft one. draft 2 is literally me going bullet point by bullet point and expanding the draft into something more akin to prose. i do have the first few paragraphs of draft 3 started, which is where i'm going to attempt actual prose writing for the first time. pretty much, btaf is becoming a very lengthy process but it's my first "test drive" on how this new outlining to written prose for my original projects will go. i've just gotten... distracted by other wips since then.

2025 GOALS

to be honest, i don’t know if i have many hard goals for next year. mostly because of *gestures at the state of the world right now* :))))))) it’s blatantly obvious that when things are tough, it becomes more difficult to do the things that you want to do that bring you joy. amid trying to just survive the day to day, there’s also my desires to get more involved in bothering the FUCK out of my senators, looking into ways i can be more involved locally (without burning myself out) and just generally trying to not let the state of the world get me down.

i think there’s a lot of things i want to do. i want to finish a bunch of outlines for my wips becuase i can’t tell you how REWARDING it’s been to be able to fully just go back and reread btaf’s outline whenever i like (and have the AMAZING multi leave comments on it like that’s actually another huge highlight of this year thank u friend 💛) and get excited about telling this story all over again. it motivates me to keep doing it! i'd also love to finish btaf's draft 2, maybe try and finish interlude - quiet etc. but—long story short. i don’t think i’m going to put myself on for any particular goals. next year is going to be about celebrating wins in any and every capacity. so all i wanna do is give myself wins.

Season 2 for sure! It's how I found II in the first place, and it's undoubtedly had the biggest impact on me as a whole! (And that finale was PHENOMINAL!)

Favourite episode/s?

FOR SURE either S2 EP12, or any of the movie acts. I have a DEEP personal connection with Alternate Reality Show, as Painty's coming out scene made me realise I was trans! It's also when I started to REALLY ship Lightbrush. And the movie is just.. wow. Couldn't have asked for a better conclusion if I tried.

Favourite scene/s?

Ough.. that's a toughie. Paintbrush's coming out scene is an obvious one, as well as Knife and Suitcase being deleted in EP17. From season 3... I'm not entirely sure! The Nickloon hug was a cute one though :3 (I had an answer for episode 18 too, but I cut it for spoiler reasons. I'll post my EP18 answers seperately if anyone wants them!)

The Bright Lights for sure! Both S2 teams are great, but c'mon! Ya gotta love the Lights!

Mepad for sure! He cares so much for the contestants, and he's just overall such a sweet guy! 💙💙

Hmm.. top 10 favourite voices would probably be Lightbulb, Knife, Paper, Cobs, Taco, Mepad, Toilet, Paintbrush, Springy, and Fan!

As for VAs.. top 3 - Jazzy Oliver, Justin Chapman, and Joshua Waters! (I'm sensing a theme here..)

Jazzy is an AMAZING singer, and she is the PERFECT voice for Painty! Her voice for them sounds so determined and upbeat - absolutely the right vibe for them! Plus, her streams are always so fun to be in :3

Joshua does a PHENOMINAL job in voicing Cobs! His (Cobs') voice is such a perfect mix of slimy, kinda bratty, yet intimidating, and it works SO well. Plus, just. I've said this before, but the fact that I feel PHYSICAL RAGE when hearing Cobs speak to Mephone and the contestants? So good. And Josh himself is super chill! Definitely seems like a great guy! :)

Justin's voices are just. Mwah. Chef's kiss. The absolute RANGE they have?? It's SO impressive - I'm jealous! They manage to keep a fun yet unique vibe for every character they voice, and that's hard to do! If I didn't know already, I probably wouldn't believe you if you told me Mepad, Goo, Knife, Silver Spoon, and Paper were voiced by the same person. SERIOUSLY impressive stuff, and I don't think there's a single character they voice that I dislike! They just make them so fun! Plus, Justin themself is a great person. Very genuine, very upbeat, just such a positive guy overall! 💙💙

Well, as I've said before, Just Like Me is probably my favourite song, mostly because of sentimental meaning! There IS another one thay could probably take it down a peg, though.. (or at least share its place!)

Hmm.. probably Cabby's library or Hotel OJ! Both seem like super chill places to be, and I'd love to see the contestants!

Lab Rats AU FOR SURE. Made by @ask-lab-rats, the II characters are kids who were born/kidnapped into experimentation by Cobs! It's SUPER unique, and very well drawn, too! Plus, the storyline is great, it really keeps you hooked! :D 💙

How were you introduced to II?

Oh jeez, it's been at least 9 or 10 years so I can't QUITE remember, but I think I found it alongside BFDI! I watched the second season, and loved every bit of it!

What's a crossover you'd love to see?

Hmm.. inside the OSC, probably another dark show like The Nightly Manor or ONE. It'd be interesting to see how they'd interact, honestly! Outside.. not sure! I guess if I had to go with my other current hyperfix, Detroit Become Human would be kinda fun! And ngl it'd be VERY funny to see Kamski and Cobs interact lol

How much does II mean to you?

Honestly? So damn much. More than I can possibly describe. I owe my own path of self-discovery to this show, and I've found so many amazing people through this community. The characters mean everything to me, and I'm genuinely so grateful to everyone I've met in the OSC. Plus, the love people have shown for my fanart and analyses means a lot! I'm honestly just a random guy on the internet rambling about his favourite show, but I've found a family here. The journey's been a long one, but for sure an amazing one. I'm looking forward to seeing AE's future projects, whether it be II-related, or something else, and I'm so glad to see the show get the conclusion it deserves. Thanks so much, II crew. Yeah, Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai, Majikoi for short, is a visual novel that has 3 or 7 games total depending on how you see it:

The A games are meant to be one bigger game released piecemeal and giving routes and focus to fan favorite secondary characters from the first two games… Or just outright off-the-left-field characters no one asked for, which is funny as hell. S, in turn, was a sequel intended to do the same for popular secondary characters from the first game. The games have pretty large casts of colorful characters, one of its strengths, because it never feels like an empty world.

Majikoi’s trademark, besides a big fun cast, is that it doesn’t take itself seriously and is generally low stakes while still being surprisingly introspective at times despite how much it likes to goof and have a laugh with you, with stories front and center focused on characters, their growth and their bonds. The first game centers on a group of friends which includes the MC, and it opens with a general route dealing with the new transfer student from Germany, Christiane Friedrich, into the school. While initially not getting along well with the MC, Naoe Yamato (who is a character in and of himself, not a blank vehicle for self-insertion), the Naoe and the rest of the Kazama Family (the name of the friend group) basically organize a way for Christine to be welcomed properly to the school and to squash the beef between her and Naoe, inducting her into the Family. From there, you basically go and do a minigame to pick which route of the Family's girls you'll pick. The setting, again, doesn't take itself seriously, and it's basically a martial arts shonen setting with no martial arts shonen plot, so you have people who can casually punch out buildings but it's not really relevant, which is also really funny.

Past the quirky first impressions, as mentioned, you get some pretty deep and insightful routes, for example, a pretty raw look into someone who suffered from bullying and overcame it, and, one of my favorites, someone whose main character arc is that she is a shonen never give up try harder forever kinda character, which everyone agrees is a strong point of her... Except, it is leading to her self-destruction, thus, deconstructing the never give up trope lovingly into "perseverance is a virtue, but it's meaningless and tragic if it turns self-destructive; sometimes, quitting IS the right choice, and no one will love you or respect you less for it", which, coming from Funny Girls game, is pretty dope. The sequels venture into exploring routes with non-Kazama Family characters, since there's a ton of colorful fan favorites anyways, including a really, really interesting "impossible route" in S, which explicitly CANNOT happen, and we see why it is that it simply cannot and will never happen with a certain character. Another thing I really like is that, since the Family is a really tight nit group of friends, in basically every route you have moments where you spend scenes with them just hanging out and shooting the piss, and will often see different members hanging out independent of Naoe's presence here and there, really driving home the idea that these people are ride and die for each other. It's pretty rare to see close platonic friendships of different genders not involving the main characters in these types of games/reads.

It's my favorite VN series when it comes to fun characters and reading something low stakes and charming. It has its fun with the sex scenes and all, 18+ game and all, but they are really a small part of a bigger circus.

I think I need to be a grown up already and reinstall a Majikoi.

"sleepaway camp"= you go there for at least a few days, a week, sometimes several weeks, and sleep there, as opposed to a """camp""" where you go for the day and your parents or whoever picks you up afterward (those arent really camps, but like. idk when i went to "space camp" it was a weeklong but not sleepaway). in the U.S. at least, the typical image of a sleepaway camp involves staying in cabins, dunno how common it is/what it looks like in other countries.

for the first few i just mean like. not necessarily a stealth church camp, just like. idk, a camp where theres also an Assumption Of Christianity and just general vibes without being actually church camp. So, there might not be daily services and jesusy dedicatwd activities, but maybe theres still a prayer said over meals and shit. Which i assume might exist...
