Thinking about the last roommate I had and how I wasn't allowed to use any sort of cleaning chemical in our dorm because she had some fuckass pet bird that if it inhaled a micron of Human Created Product it would fucking die

And evidently our counters were always dirty (and/or she was a fucking slob, cause her fat ass was) because a few times after I'd put ice in my tumbler for the day. The water would start to fucking taste like onions?? And I thought I was tripping for the first few days

Until I saw her nasty ass cutting up scallions, leaving them on the counter, and realizing one must've gotten stuck to the bottom of my fucking ice tray that I then stacked on top of another ice tray to save space in the freezer for her. 💀

I fished a scallion chunk out of my water tumbler that day. She thought it was hilarious and lost it and I also kind of laughed just so it wouldn't drive me insane, but hindsight? I should have just killed her to avoid literally everything (instigated by her) that precipitated the onion water incident.

i just need to take a second to gush about how much i love durge drow and astarion, they feel so fleshed out and perfectly written together in their fucked up wretched ways. They really inspire me to write more for my own tavs, hopefully one day ill be able to say im as happy with my own work as i get when seeing yours. I have to ask though, do you have any tips on drawing head shapes and faces? or maybe about wrinkles? i find i really struggle with that stuff when drawing and i adore how expressive and grungey all your art looks!

Honestly you've hit on something that's quite near and dear to my heart, I love developing and figuring how to draw and stylize different faces to get the most unique, interesting looking results - everything about the details is highly rewarding to me. What does x type of nose look like from this angle? In this style? How can this eyeshape best translate to my art? How different does a face look when its making this expression? What does that MOUTH DO? etc etc.

In fact you kind of inspired me to put a little tutorial/guide together the last hour lmao and what a blessing it is that the two current subjects of this blog serve as great models here, being that their faces are basically polar opposites!

When it comes to heads, you've probably heard it a dozen times before that you want to think of them in terms of geometry and facets; my process to drawing them is pretty conventional so I won't spend too much time on it, but it goes something like this:

Obviously I don't do every single one of these steps most of the time, which is just something that comes from practice/developing muscle memory, but it is helpful to start off this way for two main reasons:

By making these guide lines and splitting a head into pieces like this, you'll have an easier time seeing and understanding it as a multidimensional object, and in turn, facilitate It for you when you venture out into doing wacky angles and lighting.

Making different headshapes starts HERE. notice how Astarion's "face" slate is narrower and longer, how my durge's jaw pieces sit lower on the head, how all of the same pieces came together in the same way but we ended up with one real pointy elf and a real brick of a drow - making characters look different successfully begins very early in the sketching process.

The next thing you want to do branches out into every day life: start noticing yours and other people's facial features. How does an upturned nose look from a high angle? How does the size of someone's cheekbones affect what they look like when they smile? How about when the light hits them a certain way? Does someone's lip shape changes when they pout? When they laugh? How does a person's hairline change the shape of their face? You do NOT need to creepily sketch every stranger you see on the bus, but get into the habit of actually noticing what people look like when you talk to them - when you look at pictures, when you watch movies - make a mental list of interesting ways mouths, noses, and eyes can come together in a variety of different proportions to make completely distinct looking mugs, and how they change depending on how you are looking at them.

Light and shadow play a HUGE role in how faces look, too, basically as crucial as actual bone structure does. As you see up there I tried to rough out how natural, head on, and underhead light would look on these two very different looking guys, and while we can see definite patterns, there are small differences that come to be because of the sizes and shapes of their features.

Here is a very, very basic look at how some of these features come to look the way they do, how they interact with one another, and how they compare between a blocky, rather conventionally "masculine" head and one that's much softer and slimmer.

Note please that it is not one or two characteristics that give a chaarcter their "look"; you can reduce a face to eyes, mouth, and nose through stylization and still have them be recognizable, but if you want to do more than that, you have to consider the whole package! Chin, cheeks, brows, direction of the jaw, slope and size of the forehead, depth of eyes, ridge of the nose, etc - I know this is probably far more than you bargained for, but if you start making note of a FEW of these things now and slowly add on, this will eventually become second nature to you.

Similarly, understanding how these characteristics come together will help you with rendering light and shadow in a realistic way, and predicting what their facial expressions may look like - if no two people are alike, neither are their smiles. :)

Lastly, remember that I'm no expert - I have developed my own methods and semiotics and yours may look slightly (or vastly) different, and that's fine! I hope only that by sharing this it has given you a base to work off of.

the discussion of "good representation" kind of falls apart when talking about media made by and for the group being represented. like, echo has a bunch of evil horrible gay people that (deliberately?) play on homophobic tropes and archetypes, but its for gay men. asking whether its "good queer representation" or not just doesn't make any sense, representation for who?

i am not the first person to say this (i am paraphrasing thoughts ive seen elsewhere) but i wanna apply this lens to the idea of "glamorizing" mental illness/disability/trauma or whatever. like, on this blog ive been known to make it seem a little cute to be an autistic child who was treated like a dog growing up, and i haven't felt the need to tack on disclaimers about how much my disability & the resulting abuse has ruined my fucking life lest i accidentally glorify or commodify my own mental illnesses. but like, glorifying to who? judging from the engagement i get, statistically, you're all autistic puppies as well.

i do kinda get it, i receive comments from autistic people who specifically hate that i make autism cute, that i made my abuse cute. like its disrespectful, i'm making light of it, i'm turning it into a vibe, an aesthetic. i disagree. i don't want to make autism appealing to neurotypical people, i want to make it appealing to myself.

at this point the writer's strike should just be a cultural movement

like ppl are writing for FREE and you're complaining about turn out rate and shit

we have lives and some of us (HELL ALL OF US) have some form of mental illness, so we can't be fucking cogs all day and churn out fics.

writing is suppose to be therapeutic and writers want to share that with you to ease the tension of this hellscape we live in

but some of these readers and even fellow writers are taking it too far with the bullying

like its mean and nasty. you don't know what someone is going thru.

instead of asking for updates how about check and see if your writer is mentally stable to do so. that right there is a booster, to have someone say "are you okay?"

and then the whole accusations of favoring a certain member/character. if that person is my muse or safe space then of course imma write for them. most solo writers i see don't even talk bad about other people. its a SOLO account. think of it as a shrine blog of writing if that helps. they're not there to trash, just share their writing for other's who might also share the same muse.

then you have readers who can't separate fiction from reality. just because someone writes a character with irl people faceclaimed onto them doesnt mean they actually think that person would be or do those things irl. i'll be the first to say that i only gave my characters bts faces cuz thats who im attracted to and they're who i imagine would be casted to play my characters.

then IN THE YEAR OF 2023 we still have ppl making fun of their peers writing and also THE FACT THAT ENGLISH MIGHT NOT BE THEIR FIRST LANGUAGE? that's nasty asf. majority of us dont even speak 'proper' english as our first language no way. you only shooting yourself in the foot. don't act like you dont have beta readers... like what are yall on?

and anybody who gets on THAT BLOG behind anon is an opp. not just to the writing community but in how you interact with the world all together. yall don't know how to talk to people anymore? it may have started as a place for critique and accountability but no one is bringing receipts or critical thinking anymore. its mainly for drama and not rehabilitation. yall serious scare me in how we'd see the reality of social change applied to the real world. like i'd be more scared to let yall around the prisoners with minor offenses cuz yall act like its the end of the world and that change cant happen. yall give nobody room to change ignorant stances but ignore the real egregious shit because you honestly dont have the bandwidth to take on actual fascist views.

also the plagiarism has got to stop too. if you need writing resources just ask. but practice makes perfect. so you're gonna have to write yourself. you may not like your writers voice but you will feel shitty in the long run when you don't feel like its you putting those words on the paper. it literally just prolongs your inferiority. make something you're proud of and don't hurt your fellow writers. we went thru the process just like you. we earned it. and most of us aren't gatekeepers, we will help you.

Either Joris sensed he was being taken way too seriously and backed down, or he decided to go "nah they don't talk to me i just listen to them" route because he knew it'd be a way to confuse the two further and he finds that amusing, or he didn't want to come across as crazy.

But in the end, his reign of making them confused as fuck ends with their mention of Ush — with whom Joris has history, and yet, all Joris says is "bontarian nobleman"... He's hiding that history. Because now he's interested.

And it seems that this Beating Heart could help me become a rogue again. Beating Heart has the ability to give its wearer what they desire most. But to use Beating heart, you need the proficiency in magic that you don't have. It's not for sale, sorry. But for your time, I've got a magic hat that curls your hair. Do you know where you can stick that hat? You little piece of…. brat! Come on, come on… excuse him… he's having a bit of a bad hair day right now.

Notice how fast Joris switches gears: he brought these two this amulet, and was showing it off, before, immediately after Ush's mention, rapidly going "you won't be able to use it, I will not sell it, also your hair sucks ass".

As we will see later, you don't need deep magical skill to use it — you need some self-control, so I really doubt Joris was genuine here.

I have multiple theories:

Joris doesn't want beating heart, a powerful magic item, anywhere near Ush's schemes.

Joris wants them to steal it so that he has an excuse to involve himself in Ush's schemes like the noisy curtain twitcher he is. If this transaction is legitimate, he has no excuse like "UMMM YOUR VICTIMS BROKE INTO MY STORE REPLY TO ME IMMEDIATELY ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING???"

Considering the fact that he puts it away under a glass dome, as Remington and Grany, rogues, watch (and they HAVE talked about robbing him) — I am leaning more strongly towards theory #2.

i’ve read the description of the fundraiser and to try and convince you guys to donate im going to share some reasons why this kinda hits home and why im sharing this.

i don’t tell many people about this and honestly? i only started telling people four years ago and that was because 14 year old me broke down and revealed everything by accident.

i’ve lived in an abusive household. if you couldn’t tell by my nickname already i have ethnic backgrounds and abuse is unfortunately normal for people of my culture. but the lengths of abuse i dealt with were not normal.

there’s double standards in my religion. and that’s half the reason why personally i step back from it. the only time i do religious activities it to accompany my grandparents (mostly my grandma) who usually goes by herself but since im visiting ill go with her just to keep her company.

im sikh and in my religion it is very common for men to drink alcohol. its shameful for women to drink alcohol. now listen, i do drink alcohol and the females in my family do too but we’ve always drank in moderation never to a high extent. though my mum was a raging alcoholic.

my mum always had problems with alcohol. according to my uncles when she was my age she used to drink so much she’d frequently end up in the hospital. when she had me though she stopped and for years she’d have one drink every once in a while until she met my step dad.

now my step dad was an abusive alcohol asshole. he physically and mentally abused my mother and mentally abused me. when my mum kicked him out she fell into depression, and she had to blame someone so she blamed me.

i didn’t mind i used to be close to her so i let her do it. at first it was only mentally and i had already been dealing with that since i was 5 so it didn’t affect me but it quickly turned physically.

lockdown was the worst time of my life. i would hide in my room. i was so scared to go downstairs that i wouldn’t eat. i fell into depression, distanced myself from my friends i closed myself off completely. and when we restrictions were lifted my uncle came to visit and i broke down and told him everything.

since then my relationship with my mother has been non-existent. she blames me for having to marry my step dad, ruining her relationship with her family all those kinds of things.

i thought that i’d be stuck in that house forever. that id never get out. but i have. it was she’d, not easy and there’s still days that are really hard. im estranged from my mother now.

i still talk to my little sisters and my mums side of the family but not her.

all i ever wanted to do was leave. to escape the abuse and be able to live a life with no fear.

so please, please, please help this girl and her little brother. even donating a little can help so much and it can make her realise she is NOT alone.

this was very personal to share but i’m starting to tell myself that it’s okay to share things because there’s people around you who could be suffering too and you have no idea.

Tw. Vent post, talking about the war in Palestine, sa mentions, sh mentions

I got an ask about the situation in gaza and Palestine asking for donations. I'm already suspicious of all these asks, as some of these before turned out to be scam using the situation and I rather donate to well known and trusted charities and people than someone i don't even know is saying truth.

Also I'm broke 18 yo saving to move out to collage as fast as possible. Also current situation makes me unable to find work, so I'm living on very limited amount of money until I'll find it. And i need most of it to move out safely and don't end up homeless, which would probably result in dropping out.

Situation in Ukraine and news already made me scared and overwhelmed, especially cause our country shares border with Ukraine. I'm not gonna lie, I want to help, really. But I'm not able to do it and keep myself safe. I know it may be egoistic and all. But also answering i know I'll post it. And most my followers are fellow vent blogs, young mentally ill people. And i know it may trigger some or make them very uncomfortable.

Fuck it. I feel useless cause i can't do much. I can't donate to everyone in need, i cant fight I'm way to weak and coward. I don't want to rebloge posts with images of the war or anything which may trigger someone. Jirai community and vent blogs aren't maybe safe spaces, but i want to handle it as gently and safely as possible. And i know it will trigger someone, especially in my environment.

Hell it even sometimes trigger me, sometimes i cut myself cause of sa mentions in these posts and all. I know people should see it. It will help with getting help and reaction, but for some it may be way to much. Even tho i blocked these tags sometimes i see still info and news about it on other platforms, news, by friends or even still on tumblr. It was the whole fucking reason i couldn't stop cutting myself for two weeks straight. The strangest thing was when they used #matura2024 hastag on twitter. Its litteraly exam on the end of hs, why use it to send photos of dead children without even any warning? Many people who wrote mature still were mostly 17-19. Not really a good portion of group to help.

I don't really know what to do already. I really want to life in peaceful world without wars, suffering and evil but it's not possible. I can't stand thinking about suffering of others and whenever i try to cut this topic off it comes with double impact. I just don't want to get triggered or flashbacks from traumatic situations from my life. Neither I don't want to feel egoistic and useless for it all.

I want to be totally upfront about the tactics I'm using. Someone once affectionately described viewing my blog as the morning news. But it's also true in a more negative way.

There's a great video by CGP Grey discussing how loud arguments will attract more bystanders and cause both sides to grow.

This is a great illustration of a big part of why I tend to argue with anti-endos so much.

If you watched what happened with "The Future is Plural," anti-endos took a slogan that only a handful of people were actually using, manufactured a controversy around it with loud and ridiculous accusations of this phrase being a call to traumatize children, then pro-endos pushed back in large swathes and the phrase became a rallying cry for our community. The more anti-endos attacked it, the stronger our resolve became to defend it.

It was amazing and we couldn't have gotten to the point where so many pro-endos adopted it if not for the anti-endos creating this opposition.

Other people view anti-endos as enemies. And I do too to an extent. They hurt so many of us and cause so much harm to innocent people.

But in the grand scheme of things, I also see them as the butterflies to our garden of flowers.

If I'm sending anti-endos images of upsetting posts from my blog to intentionally make anti-endos angry at me personally, it's because I think making them angry is the best way to propagate and spread my ideology.

(And more selfishly, advertise my own blog. But like, I wouldn't send sysmeds images of anyone else's blog out of fear of another pro-endo getting harassment they might not be able to handle. But if I'm sent harassment personally... that's just more pollination.)

Our actual biggest struggle as plurals right now is awareness. The reason so many plural children grow up without knowing what's happening to them is because the general population doesn't know much about plurality. They don't even know the sides to this argument.

Anti-endos are an enemy in a sense... but I also view them as a tool. A means to an end. Our toxic relationship with its constant fighting is one that, when utilized properly, can be of symbiosis that I think will result in greater awareness of plurality and will ultimately benefit all plurals in the future.

But to achieve this, I need them mad. I need them angry at me.

I need them to see my posts bragging about teaching people to dissociate and hallucinate because when they do, it turns me into a threat in their eyes. They view me, personally, as someone who is dangerous. And then they can't ignore me, because if they believe I'm hurting people and they do nothing, they'll be allowing me to hurt people.

When a pro-endo sees me talking about teaching people to dissociate and hallucinate, they're familiar with our practices and know these things are harmless. It has no affect on them.

When an anti-endos does, they see these scary words and see dangerous evil cult indoctrination inducing mental illness in innocent people and I'm the monster that they need to destroy.

And finally, I wouldn't say that I sent that ask because I wanted to respond to it. I sent the ask because I wanted that post I made to be visible in anti-endo tags by a blog the hardcore anti-endos follow and will see. I responded to that post to help it get more notes and appear higher up in the anti-endo tags.

And I'll confess... maybe I find it funny too. I enjoy seeing their absurdly over-the-top reactions to scary descriptions of basic tulpamancy practices. It's comic relief for me.

See if it wasn’t Kafka in ur au and I was r I would definitely turn her in for the money, but I unfortunately think I might like Kafka just like a little bit ig so I don’t think k would be able to do that .

Reread part 3 today is her fingers twitching bc she wants to shoot something or is it just bc Kafka and her fingers. Ok thats not what I meant but also…what I meant was that she works with her fingers a lot I wish she used them on me instrument, guns, etc. we still haven’t gotten an in game Kafka appearance w an actual violin, it probably won’t happen but I’m still holding out. And she’s the highest threat level possible for a criminal but she STILL commits petty theft. She is so I saw someone say that the stellaron hunters were all siblings, Kafka and blade are like the older siblings that have to drive/pay for everything, silver wolf is the gamer (so original) and firefly is the youngest. Wish they had more in game interactions, or like they had synergy, meta wise, since canonically they’re one of the most tight knit groups.
