I’m streaming Lost Judgment on legend difficulty for the achievement, so I’ve got Judgment on the brain. So riddle me this, Mafuyu fans...

Why do so many people get behind the Yagami/Mafuyu “canon?” Like, no issue with shipping itself, but I feel like a lot of people go “yeah, Mafuyu is Yagami’s canon love interest,” but WHY?

They dated in the past when Yagami was a lawyer, okay. Mafuyu insists nothing was really going on when she’s introduced, but then later during flashbacks Yagami mentions them dating but it’s nothing really official. Then the whole Okubo ordeal messed up Yagami and he broke things off with Mafuyu.

Three years pass, Saori DOESN’T LET IT GO, Kaito ALSO DOESN’T LET IT GO, and Mafuyu still seems to have a thing for Yagami. Mafuyu still liking him I get, but why does the game really do such a poor job of making it seem like it’s much of anything, yet Saori just KEEPS. GOING. ON. ABOUT. MAFUYU? Hell, when you go to buy a dress for Saori and Yagami says it feels like a date, she decides to go off about Mafuyu’s past (them being friends is part of it too) and why it was so important she try and get Mafuyu and Yagami together, because of course she does. 

The scene where Yagami saves Mafuyu from getting kidnapped was the most actual chemistry we see between the two, but for the most part, it all just seems more like Mafuyu is more into it? And Yagami is just confused at a later point when Mafuyu says he’s her boyfriend. 

Even in Lost Judgment, three years later, they still feel a need to beat it into your head that Mafuyu has interest and Kaito STILL tries to go off about getting with her. I think it’s more grating because there truly seems to be nothing there, and OTHER CHARACTERS just go on about it. It just seems like a lazy way to get the player into the mindset of it potentially happening, and it really sticks out. 

And Mafuyu is FINE (the whole part of the game where you need to defend her AND THE “WAIFU” CLOSEUP as she cheers you on just felt off because they don’t do much with her for the whole game before it). It kind of bugs me that despite Yagami being in his element as a detective, she insists he just be a lawyer again. Like she cares about him, but still tries to make him be something he has no intention of going back to? And Saori keeps bringing up Mafuyu to Yagami. She wanted Mafuyu to move on from an unavailable man she loved for a long time, but for some reason doesn’t want her to move on from an emotionally unavailable man who doesn’t even seem interested? Seems like a bad move as a friend, tbh.

Mafuyu had a lot of wasted potential imo. She’s being followed by several yakuza in one chapter but doesn’t notice because... she’s on the phone? But then later she gets a bad feeling and calls Yagami and Kaito, and Kaito DARES say she has a nose for danger? HELLO? 

And she also seems so confused when Yagami goes so far for his investigations. She asks if he’ll give up when the AD-9 case gets bad. We’re supposed to believe she’s some tough, smart prosecutor, but... we never see it all that much. Most of the time she’s just kind of there and clumsily thrown into the story BECAUSE, and I just wish they did more with her.

It’s just bad character development the way they don’t do much for Mafuyu and yet bash us over the head that THEY HAD A THING ONCE A LONG TIME AGO AND MAFUYU STILL LIKES YAGAMI. Even if we took out the “girlfriends” part of both games, I just don’t see how Yagami/Mafuyu seems canon in any way.

Had to vent. I just don’t see canonical implications anywhere. And honestly, if there was ever a third Judgment game and the devs decided to put them together, it’d just be so off-putting.

saikis powers are a vital part of him so it makes sense that people who dont know about them cant truly understand his whole self, but its also very silly to me when people act like its the ONLY important part of him... people act like his friends that arent in the know are completely blind to who saiki is, but i feel like that kinda means you missed some major points... he cant keep his powers a secret forever and it DOES matter, but he can still be loved and KNOWN without knowing about them... hes still human, he still has a personality, he still has regular likes and dislikes, etcetc

his friends perspectives on him may have been wrong at first, but they CHANGED... they know him and love him, and theyll KEEP loving him the SAME once they know of his powers...

​some people cough cough cough in this fandom like to reduce saiki to JUST his powers and its so obvious that you just. missed everything. you didnt absorb anything from the show, you just saw it and went "ha, everyone thinks hes just a guy when hes actually super cool and powerful" no no no, he IS cool and powerful but look a little closer and at his core he is still LITERALLY JUST A GUY 😭😭😭

not to mention the entire antaam fleet like 😭 that was the PERFECT moment to show off what the lords could do!!! The antaam fucked over rivain, theyve been a thorn in the whole nations side for a long time now, they would not pass up a chance for payback via full scale naval warfare so that the veilguard can do what they need to!! Sure dreadnoughts are dangerous but at this point they probably have tricks up their sleeve, thats one of the few things they have!

also wouldn't it be personal because does solas not try to blow up kont-aar because he's trying to 5d chess tevinter and the qunari into destroying each other. like. i know technically this would not be incredible widespread news because the attack was stopped, but i don't think the wonderful citizens of kont-aar would have missed the tsunami that nearly hit them and the shockwave that actually hit them. rumors go around. and i assume irian/vadis tell varric. who i think would tell isabela. who would tell the group she leads. who would care because ofc, they LIVE IN RIVAIN, and now know that solas and his followers thinks they can trade rivaini lives* to further his plans.

*while i also think there's probably a divide between kont-aar and the rest of the nation, it's one that the rivaini love to jump across and back over. an interesting comparison to be made here with most of rivain having similar sentiments towards dairsmuid and the chantry. like this is the country specifically mentioned to have a lot of citizens who follow the qun/are non-andrastian + it being MUCH more multicultural and accepting than other nations. any attack on rivain, even if it's a qunari settlement, would fan a lot of flames that solas cannot put out so the idea of trying to him taking multiple steps back because he didn't realise how intensely the qun/rivaini/lords would react is very fun for me. it would have been soo interesting for rivain to be a hub for efforts against solas because of how it's not influenced by andrastianism, how he (or his agents) specifically fucked them over, and (maddeningly for solas) also part of this resistance has spirits who willingly guide them against him. this could have even been a plot device where the door goes both ways and solas finds out rook's plans because he manages to eavesdrop through a seer or something.

and on the spirits. all the stuff where the mourn watch regularly communicates with spirits could have been done with rivain as well, and with different takes on being 'friendly' with spirits. iirc there's a spirit in the hall of valor which is so interesting but it's literally just there for flavour text. THERE'S A SPIRIT IN THE HALL OF VALOR THAT DOES NOTHING BESIDES LIKE. SAY HI. ??? bioware i would have liked to see more spirits and seers and the matriarchal pantheists you have talked about please. and also the idea of the peaceful qunari settlement being pushed to protect the country they are part of and what that means for them as qunari vs. rivaini. taash's storyline could have contributed to this . so A LOT less about choosing a side, more about how kont-aar has developed, changed, how rivain has influenced it and what it means to be qunari. not the qunari agents and fighters that we have seen, but their 'civillian' way of life in kont-aar.

complete waste not seeing any of established lore reflected in the lords of fortune or rivain because i stupidly actually thought we were going to see some kind of settlement and be introduced to a very different cultural norms.. in my beautiful mind i like to think taash is a little taken aback by how badly mages/elves/etc are treated. like they understood it was different outside of rivain (they would have been young when the dairsmuid circle annulment happened right? so they don't 'remember' it themself, they likely heard others talking about it when they're old enough to understand) but until they actually saw what was happening first hand, they had a weird dissonance about it. but what we got was a deserted beach, ties to another faction (wardens are fine!! they are great !!!! the fourth blight is interesting!!!! yet they are not the faction with a lack of info about them!!!!!) and also the hall of valor that exists as flavor text with nothing meaningful behind it besides a pub used in a few cutscenes and a minigame.

penelope canonically retreating to her room and refusing food = she puts on some weight, the reason being both lack of physical activity as well as her body being on constant emergency mode (so what little she does eat ends up being stored away bc the body doesnt know when the 'starvation' will end). whats more her constant stress elevates cortisol levels which in and of itself leads to weight gain esp in the abdominal area.

You mentioned once being in the anti community in a post and it appeared on my dash. Sincere question, are a lot of antis religious or come from religious backgrounds? I ask bc looking at the antis from the outside they just seem....very Catholic.

At the time of being an anti, religion was a little bit complicated for me, and I definitely think my experience with religion (specifically Christianity) played a part in the development of being an anti.

I wouldn't doubt anti circles have a lot of overlap with people who have religious trauma or religion-based suppression because this is something I have personally struggled with, and I'm sure it's disproportionate in antis, just seeing how they act.

Aside from religion, I do also believe anti culture has skyrocketed due to very negative societal changes, namely the haphazard sanitization of everything internet, the loss of genuine child spaces on the internet, the banning of anything even potentially lightly offensive that has been an increasing trend in various media spaces (libraries, YouTube, the general internet, etc.), the increasingly performative nature of activism, and the slow but undeniable revival of purity culture and reactionary rhetoric that's been going on in recent years.

I think most of anti culture is, very unfortunately but very obviously, built on feelings of self-shame, narrow-mindedness, and ignorance (which is also arguably spearheaded by literal children), which is why a lot of people have made the reasonable connection between antis and hardcore religious nutcases. They are VERY similar in behavior and thought. More concerned with LOOKING good rather than actually DOING/BEING good, and hellbent on making everyone else exactly like them by any means, but mostly shame and weird "repentance" language.

When it comes to hygiene tasks and self care with disability and chronic illness, its pretty much a constant case of: don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.

Basically: it's better to do something, than to do nothing at all.

TLDR: Just because you can't do something "properly" doesn't mean you shouldn't do it at all. Do it half-way. Do it shitty. Do it barely. Do it on a technicality. But do what you can. Just try, because doing something will help you.

If you don't have the energy to scrub your body with a sponge, just rub soap over your skin with your hands.

If you don't have the energy to wash your whole body with soap, just hit the places where sweat accumulates, or where you're smelliest.

If you don't have the energy to wash with soap AT ALL, just sitting in water is better than nothing. It will wash away dirt and oils.

If you can't bathe or shower at all, a warm wash cloth is your new best friend. If that's too much, then try bath wipes. They're a bit bigger than regular wet wipes, and a bit more heavy duty. They're designed to help keep bed ridden patients clean in hospitals.

If you don't have the energy to dry yourself after a bath or a shower, just put on a bathrobe and get into bed. If you don't have the energy to get dressed afterwards, just don't. It can wait until you can.

If you don't have energy to brush your teeth for two minutes, honestly, just a cursory scrub is better than not doing anything.

If you can't brush your teeth twice a day, brush in the evenings. It will help take away the build up of food from the day.

If you don't have the energy to brush AT ALL, honestly, just take a cloth and wipe the plaque off your teeth. Rinse with mouth wash after if you'd like. Something is always better than nothing.

If you can't floss twice a day. Try once. If that's too much, try a few times a week. If that's too much, try setting aside a day once a week as a goal. If you can't keep a schedule, do it when you're able to. Hell, I keep some floss next to my bed so that if I forget and don't have the energy to go get it, I can just reach over.

If you can't iron your clothes, don't bother. Wrinkles are fine. Wear jumpers over wrinkly t-shirts. No one will know, and honestly, most people won't even care. If it's really wrinkly and it's A Big Deal And It Needs To Be Ironed, here's my life hack. Step 1: take a spray bottle, and spritz the item of clothing (while you're wearing it is easiest) until it's lightly damp. Step 2: use a hair-dryer on the clothes until they're dry. It gets rid of creases like nobody's business, it's easier than lugging out the iron and ironing board, and you get to have nice toasty warm clothes afterwards.

If you can't fold your clothes, try just hanging them up. It's less commitment. It's quicker to do. Granted, you need to have the space in order to do this, but it is also good at helping you downsize, and lets you visualise exactly what you have.

If you can't put your clothes away, invest in a couple of laundry baskets, and then just keep your clean clothes in the baskets. You can then separate washed clothes into underwear, pants, and shirts baskets. You can just leave them like that. I'm giving you permission to never fold your laundry again if you can't. Just leave it unfolded. Who's going to care? Something is better than nothing. If you can, try to put those baskets into your closet so that you can keep the clutter out of sight, and give yourself a more restful environment.

If you can't separate your clothing out into different categories and wash them "properly" (whites, warm tones, cool tones, darks, delicates / switching between hot & cold washes / paying attention to laundry instructions on the label) then just don't worry about it. If you cold wash your clothes, colours won't bleed. Maybe gradually over the course of dozens of washes there'll be some changes in hue, but it's really not as high stakes as the One Red Sock In The Whites Turns Them Pink trope makes it out to be.

I've pretty much come to the point in my life where if a piece of clothing can't survive the washer and dryer, then it's just not meant to be. I colour separate my clothes, and if I have the energy/remember I'll take my bras and jumpers out of the washing machine to drip dry. But otherwise, I leave it to the universe.

If you can't separate out your recycling, then don't. If you have a large amount of rubbish you need to get rid of but the idea of separating it out properly is stopping you from doing so, then just don't worry about it. I know it's not ideal, but if you have garbage in your room/house and you need to get rid of it, please just get rid of it. Don't let the problem get bigger and harder to deal with. Don't let "doing something properly" get in the way of keeping your living spaces clean. Please. Give yourself understanding.

If you can't wash your dishes, get paper plates. Obviously, it's not ideal, but it is better that you eat food than skipping meals. It is better that you have a clean kitchen, rather than having dishes piling up and making it harder to look after yourself.

If you can't prepare meals for yourself keep making the tasks easier and easier. If you can't do recipes, then simplify. Use pasta sauce from the jar instead of making it. Eat canned soup. Buy food you can just stick in the oven. If you eat fish fingers and microwave veggies every night, it's better than not eating anything at all. It's better than having to fork out money on take-out. If you need ready-made meals, then get them. If you're literally just eating a raw cauliflower for dinner; 1) I see you, 2) me too, sis, 3) something is better than nothing.

These are the basic things you need to do every day to function as a person. They are your activities of daily living. Brushing your teeth. Bathing or showering. Using the bathroom. Getting dressed. Eating. Drinking. Sleeping. Keeping your environment clean. You don't need to do these things perfectly, but they need to happen in order for you to have a decent quality of life.

And it breaks my heart, because I know that so many disabled people can't do these things every day. I'm not saying this to guilt or judge, I'm saying that these are basic needs; you deserve these things. These things bring dignity. If a disabled person is unable to do these things, it diminishes their quality of life. It robs them of dignity.

If you need help to do these things, Its okay to ask for help. It's okay to need help. But if you can't get that help and you have to do these things by yourself -- or you just plain want to be independent and do it without help-- then don't hold yourself to standards you can't meet.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good. Doing something is always better than doing nothing. Even if it's not perfect. Even if it's not done well. Do what you can.
