i was in the shower thinking about ob3y me and i was really going....why did they not actively try to improve the experience in the game when they were in their peak

ik its honestly just a thing companies do, like just sticking with the same formula for years cause if it works, then dont improve it since it saves money

and i hate that, especially in OMs case cause it felt like they tried to do improvements to the game last minute (making unlocking devil spaces way faster, adding a better pity system, and adding the chibis to the todo list)

like why did it take like 4 years for them to add the devil space thing or the new pity system? cause im sure ppl would have appreciated years ago

and while i was thinking about that, i started thinking of various ways they could have improved the playing experience for all fans (and not just the fans of popular characters)

with most events in lov3 and d33pspace you get to pick the guy(s) of your choosing and go through the event with them specifically

now obviously OM cant do all the characters each time since theres so many of them, but they could select a third of them for one event and do "routes" for each of them. then the next event, pick the 2nd third. then the next event, the 3rd third. after that, start again from the 1st third, etc etc. (shit even split the group in fourths if thats still too many to write for at once)

AND DONT SKIP ANYONE

the gap between spotlight events for each character should not be huge okay

it should be as small as feasibly possible. they could have some events be for just one character too, but still, they really need to make sure that all the characters are getting a chance to have these events (including the secondary characters!)

yea the profits wouldnt be as high short term since theyd have to properly invest into their writers, but i genuinely think the longevity this would have brought would make up for it

people would better know when their faves event focus is coming up next and you wont have a good chunk of the fans upset with obvious favoritism/neglect (like even i noticed how long it took for beel to get a spotlight event in nb)

they probably didnt have the funds for this at first (maybe)...but when they were popping off, that would have been amazing if they immediately started putting the profits into adding to the app

also not doing back to back events with no breathing room would definitely make this event setup more feasible and also the event story quality better

okay im done, i just needed to write this down cause im just like...this was probably another way they could have done things and this wasnt even a 'just make proper routes in the mainstory' suggestion either! tho thats the best option imo

im sure everyone is familar but i just noticed this and Man...when you're romancing astarion and you've already slept w him before the tiefling party (and u have high approval i think) - you can get this line where you can basically goad him into shooting pickup lines at you. and through the different dialogue options, at one point - he'll say i love you insincerely.

you have like several ways of going about this dialogue, and my tav (this time) chose the option to say "having fun are you?" it was really... interesting... astarion in general has a really tonal way of speaking. and he has a line after you ask this of him, where he says he is and its hard not to with you. and he sounds... genuine.

when astarion is trying to get something out of you, he's always really theatrical but when he's being sincere that quality really Mellows. the pitch in his voice is higher and he speaks less smoothly. ike its hard to get the words out almost. he still has the same like delicate quality in his voice, the same airiness but its noticeably sounds more touched.

but its. interesting. that by that point (in act one before anything happens) that astarion knows really little about you other than you tend to look out for him and that you're capable. but when i consider it from astarions perspective, being with you even in (im)mortal peril and the connection you share is probably the first genuine, tangible connection with another being that he's had in his life or at least for 200 years. completely and entirely his outside of being a spawn.

its by a truthfully fucked up metric, but. he really does have fun with you. like he means that part. something about that is So devastating. because at that point, im sure astarion considers it temporary. he's manipulating you and he's trying to take advantage of you and its not real (so he tells himself over and over.)

except. sometimes it is. and sometimes you tell astarion you'll have each others backs. and sometimes you come back to camp covered in blood and you'll laugh with karlach trying to get it out of your hair and the fireplace is nice and crackling and it smells like smoke.

sometimes you'll trek through the forest and mountains and gale will say something and maybe you'll tease him. and you'll laugh. and so briefly he forgets what he's running from.

astarion will offer you his body because he's hoping you don't realize that's all he has to offer, but you're not expecting anything. there's no price to pay for laying under you except maybe his own guilt.

and even still. even with all the caveats. well its fun. maybe his standards are low, but its fun to be with you in some way. and its masked with so much of his usual poetry but maybe that is more meaningful than an i love you. you make him remember so basic, fun. genuine, silly fun.

he doesn't love you there. not yet. but maybe it is more meaningful for astarion at that stage, to simply admit that he doesn't want to be surrounded by unpleasantness forever. that there is more to getting his freedom than survival being easier. maybe he wants to have fun in ways that aren't drinking himself sick even when he can't taste the alcohol.

you're fun for him to be with..that means more than anything for him there. how do you teach someone who's suffered so much anything other than teeth-gritted, matted fur survival is unfamiliar? except trying to show them that it is fun, and good to be alive?

even if its all a sham. a mirage. well it was fun for astarion. he couldn't even forget that. you have so many of his firsts.

Are there any post-season 2 episodes worth watching? My little completionist brain wants to watch the entirety of RGB before moving onto EGB, but I know the quality of it sorta falls after the changes Q5(?) made.

I saw this question and LOCKED TF IN because I wanted to give the best possible answer, sorry it took so long 😔

Season 3 is a mess. They implemented all the changes Q5 told them to do, J. Michael Straczynski left, and the quality fell into hell immediately. I’m not exaggerating when I say that 90% of the episodes are Slimer-centric, there’s just WAY TOO MUCH of him. Also Junior Ghostbusters are annoying. Also the writing is childish and bad.

HOWEVER there is a ‼️MUST WATCH‼️ ep called “The Grundel” in s3, it’s written by the goat Straczynski, it’s dark and creepy as hell, it’s interesting, it’s just like s1-2, AND it’s a must watch if you want to check out EGB bc it connects to one of its episodes directly!!

But aside from that there’s nothing to see, really. “The Bogeyman Is Back” is interesting RIGHT until the Junior Ghostbusters show up, from that point on it’s a huge waisted potential. But the first half is good bc it shows Egon at his lowest (at least in RGB terms, in EGB he hits new lows).

Now season 4 was actually surprisingly decent! After a mess that s3 was, s4 felt like average s2 episodes: nothing crazy, but still fun and enjoyable. They cut back Slimer, made Janine a proper character again, completely got rid of Junior Ghostbusters and got very good studios to animate it!

If I were to recommend specific episodes I’d say “Flipside” because the concept they introduce in it is absolutely PEAK and I wish they explored it more, and “Robo-Buster” because Janine gets a good role in this one and overall this ep feels the most like s2.

However I can safely say that you can watch through all of it bc I genuinely found it fun, and even when the plot is kinda weak the guys’ dynamic CARRIES 💪 I’m biased ofc, but they made them so soft and domestic in this season it feels like they are on a honeymoon. So yeah, would recommend!!

Season 5, ohhh season 5. Idk what they were on when writing this one. “Elementary My Dear Winston” is good if you love Sherlock Holmes, plus Winston gets a role, plus the character dynamics are good. Nothing crazy tho. “The Halloween Door” is also really good as a Halloween special, AND it was written by Straczynski and no one gets these characters as well as he does.

But apart from these two? Bad. Like, I dunno what happened, s4 was so fun but s5 feels like s3 all over again. Boring concepts, bad writing, no fun character interactions. Halfway through the season they switch to 15-minute episodes that feel incredibly rushed and even less watchable.

I did not find strength to watch s6-7 because of how fucking ugly they are visually. Not even animation-wise, but colourgrading is BAD bad. Ik there are some Straczynski eps in there but I am almost sure they are not worth the effort 😔

So yeah! That’s about it! EGB is peak start to finish tho, the worst EGB ep is like the best RGB s3-7 ep, so it’s sooo worth the watch!!
