You never quite understood how you and Wade became friends. He was possibly the biggest extrovert you have ever met and you were the exact opposite. He saw you once at his favorite diner with your sketchbook and he jumped into the seat across from you.
Yapping on about your art and if you drew often and that he once tried to paint but the class didn't appreciate his art and asking if you'd paint him naked as a present for his girlfriend. Which you declined very quickly.
He wouldn't leave you alone, talking and asking you all sorts of things. You getting a few words in and him covering the other 98% of the conversation. He left with the promise of seeing you again and disappeared before you could say anything else.

"So rude." Wade shakes his head and heads off to the bathroom. Silence falls once again as you awkwardly push around the pancakes on your plate.
"What's that?" Logan asks, nodding towards your sketchbook. You grab your book and shove it into your bag.
"Nothing! It's uh, just a sketchbook it's nothing don't worry about it." Logan raises an eyebrow as you panic in front of him.
As if you couldn't feel more embarrassed. You debate on waiting for wade or just leaving to save yourself but Logan makes the choice for you.
"You don't have to stay, not holding you hostage." He sips his coffee as you let out a shaky laugh.
"Not much of a talker." You play with your fork as you look up at Logan. He's much more handsome up close.
"Neither am I." He offers a small half smile and you return it. He's still incredibly intimidating but maybe you can stick it out a little longer. Logan's food comes and the two of you eat in a comfortable silence and when you're done you work up the courage if he'll be here tomorrow. He holds the door open for you as you step outside.
You clutch tightly onto the strap of your bag as you wait for his answer. He lights a cigar and you try and suppress your smile when he says he will be. As you part ways you realize that Wade never did come back from the bathroom.

God your head hurt and the sun was way too bright. You crack your eyes open groan as you head pounds. What were you even thinking last night? You wanted your damn book back that's what you were thinking. A loud knock on your door makes you moan in pain. Getting up you swing open your door only to be met with Logan holding your book. Let's get into the tenth and eleventh episodes of Miraculous Ladybug's fifth season: Transmission and Deflagration
“Transmission” starts with Marinette having another depressive episode, which seems to be worse than usual, with her offering her Miraculous to Tikki so she can choose someone else. We're ten episodes into the season, and whenever Marinette brings up her failure at the end of the last season, it's the same song and dance: She feels guilty about it, she needs someone to try and make her feel better, and she doesn't change anything about the way she and Cat Noir operate. If it isn't that, it's a complete strawman or character who we know already hates Ladybug like Chloe or Lila calling out Marinette for her failure specifically so any negative feedback she gets can be easily brushed aside. The whole point of a hero having to comprehend a major failure is to see how they deal with the consequences to their actions and find a way to improve to make sure nothing like that ever happens again. If Marinette came up with new ways to strategize with Cat Noir, or seriously reevaluate the way she sees Adrien that isn't just brushed aside, I'd get it. Instead, all she does is whine about how much her life sucks over and over, which is the same problem I've had with Adrien for the past few seasons.
And once again, for a show with the lyrics “The power of love always so strong” in its opening, it seems like the writers want to make a bigger point in favor of showing how love can only ruin things. Yes, getting emotional can cause someone to make more impulsive decisions, but at the same time, feelings of love and kindness can get good results, like Ellen Ripley's maternal instincts motivating her to save Newt in Aliens. The problem is that we never get a lot of arguments as to how love can benefit the heroes, not only when we see how much it screws up Ladybug and Cat Noir's partnership, but once again, how Marinette's romantic feelings for someone led to her greatest failure. The closest we get to an argument in favor of love is whenever Marinette and Adrien's friends try to make their OTP come together without considering if it would actually make things better or not.
Speaking of which, after the episode's obligatory pointless Chloe line that's only there so Selah Victor can pay her rent that week, Ms. Bustier asks Alya to deliver Marinette's homework to her, only for Nino to convince her to have Adrien do it instead. Somehow, she thinks this minor favor will help Marinette and Adrien realize their true feelings for each other. Because it's not like Alya learned that she shouldn't choose who she thinks Marinette would be best with last episode, right?
Marinette and Adrien talk and it seems like they're starting to grow a little closer, but Tikki and Plagg panic, trying to intervene so they don't know each other's identities. The attempt fails, but Marinette kicks Adrien out anyway. It's a pretty somber scene, so let's cut to something stupid instead, like Marinette and Adrien's classmates throwing a party under the assumption that Adrien simply delivering something to Marinette means they'll get together now.

Of course, even though she went along with one of these weird “force Marinette to do something she doesn't want to” schemes before in “Crocoduel”, Zoe seems to be the only one with a smidgen of common sense.
Zoe: Alya, did you hear Marinette’s voicemail message?
Alya: Yeah, but that was before, Zoe.
Zoe: “Before”? Before what?
Alya: Before when Marinette was a complete wreck.
Nino: But Alya sends her the perfect mechanic.
Alya: Adrien!
Nino: He’s fixing her up as we speak.
Rose: Wow! When they come back to school, they’ll finally be an item!
Marc: A perfect plan!
Zoe: But... you guys don’t actually know for sure.
Alya: Trust me. This is it this time!
I'm starting to think that maybe Marinette should reconsider who she chooses to be temp heroes once she gets the Miraculous back.
Adrien starts crying as he leaves Marinette's place, which attracts the attention of Monarch... who then immediately backs out as soon as he senses him, transforming back into Gabriel. Meanwhile, Tikki and Plagg discuss Marinette and Adrien's situation.
Plagg: Sugarcube! Having to force them to choose between love and their mission is just awful! Maybe Master Fu was wrong to choose them.
Tikki: No, they’re made for each other. Love is what gives them their strength.
Plagg: But the impossible part of that love is destroying them, and I know a thing or two about destruction.
Tikki: (sighs heavily) What can we do?
Plagg: We must free them of that impossible choice. We must... free them of us.

Yep. This is the titular Kwamis' choice. They seriously think that Marinette and Adrien's romantic problems are more important than them being superheroes, so their best option is to just take away their Miraculous even though Monarch still has fifteen more of them. I'd be more forgiving if this was towards the beginning of Marinette and Adrien's superhero careers, but this is Season 5, where the stakes have never been higher thanks to Monarch's arsenal. Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that MARINETTE IS STILL THE FUCKING GUARDIAN, AND TAKING AWAY HER MIRACULOUS DOESN'T CHANGE A THING! IT'S NEVER EVEN MENTIONED IN EITHER EPISODE, SO HOW THE HELL DO YOU FORGET SOMETING THAT IMPORTANT?!?!
It doesn't even make sense that only now are Tikki and Plagg against Marinette and Adrien actually getting together when they were never shown to have any problems with it in earlier seasons, and just last episode, Plagg encouraged Adrien to go after Marinette after doing so as Cat Noir didn't work out. It comes across as the writers struggling to come up with new ways to have opposition to the Love Square, even if this idea somehow leads to a minuscule amount of progress in that department. Yeah, you figure that out...
Also, it's pretty weird how after four and a half seasons of Marinette suffering from the burden of being Ladybug, only now does Tikki decide to relieve her of that responsibility, but only because of how it affects her love life.
We get another scene showing how stupid Marinette and Adrien's friends are as they talk about how happy Marinette and Adrien must be now, interspersed with scenes of Marinette and Adrien crying their eyes out. Just like that one scene in “Evolution”, I don't get the setup. Is this meant to be a joke, or a serious moment? After Nathalie takes a call for Adrien telling Nino that he can't be bothered at the moment, Gabriel comes into the room to comfort him, giving him an Alliance ring in the process.
Tikki and Plagg talk to their respective holders and tell them how they feel that the burden of being heroes is crushing them. Marinette and Adrien obviously bring up the situation with Monarch, but as soon as their Kwamis mention that not being superheroes means that they can pursue their love lives with no stress, they immediately take off their Miraculous and give them back. After five seasons that this episode confirmed happened just under a year, and this is what causes them to give up their Miraculous: a bad case of heartache. We're supposed to see this as the breaking point that causes the two to not want to be superheroes ever again? They don't consider the innocent lives that could be in danger, or the fact that this heavy burden will most likely be forced on two new and inexperienced schmucks who will struggle even more than they did thanks to Monarch possessing powers of the other fifteen Miraculous.
I'm sorry, but I don't see this as an emotional scene. All I see is what I saw with Adrien in “Kuro Neko”: these characters simply giving up because of how much they're prioritizing their personal feelings over the lives of others. If this was something Marinette and Adrien came up with and made an agreement to quit at the same time (even choosing their own replacements), I'd sort of get it, as they'd at least be on the same terms, but neither of them ever learn the other quit until later on in the episode.
After Adrien breaks down even more, we learn that the whole reason Gabriel hesitated to akumatize Adrien the last time was because he didn't have an Alliance ring on, so now that he does, he's taking a mulligan. However, the Akuma is stopped at the last minute when Adrien sees the homework he was supposed to give Marinette, so he runs off as his negative emotions fade. Instead, Monarch chooses to akumatize someone else with five different Alliance rings.
Monarch: Rejoice, dear Kwamis! Five Alliances enables as many Miraculous powers to transfer at the same time! This villain promises to be exceptional! (laughs manically)
Pretty sure you hyped up Style Queen the same way three seasons ago, yet you still didn't get the Miraculous then, so I wouldn't gloat too soon.
The next scene with Marinette and Adrien is actually a really nice one. Marinette starts stuttering as usual when she tries to talk, but Adrien comes up with another idea: He'll ask a series of yes or no questions, and Marinette can raise her right or left hand to answer them. Adrien asks Marinette about her feelings for him, and Marinette accidentally answers no before changing her mind. Before Adrien leaves, he asks Marinette if she wants to spend more time with him in the future, to which she accepts. This scene was handled really well, and nothing really felt forced here.
Back with Alya, she and the others are once again coming up with a plan to get Marinette and Adrien together (because none of them have lives outside of the Love Square, I guess), when Nora suddenly calls.
Nora: Geez, sis! You never pick up the phone when I like, actually need your advice!
Alya: I couldn’t pick up. I’m at school!
Nora: Yeah, right. So, you see, I had no choice but to deal with it myself.
Alya: Oh, no... Nora. I told you before, you gotta talk before you act!
Nora: Yeah, but I did talk, like, I said stuff in front of Kouki's bros.
Alya: Nora! Not “talk” like that!

Yeah, outside of a few references to Nora trying to call Alya earlier in the episode, I didn't skip anything here. We're just thrown into this plot with little to no explanation as to what's going. What Nora and this Kouki guy were arguing about, much less what Nora said to his friends is never explained. I don't even known if they're supposed to be in a relationship or not. It's not like in “Sandboy” or “Oblivio” where the motivation for how the person got akumatized was only explained near the end of the episode. The episode acts like we're supposed to know who Kouki is and why he and Nora are fighting when this is the first time Kouki has ever appeared on this show.
As the conversation goes on, Tikki chooses Alya to be the new wielder of the Ladybug Miraculous and Plagg chooses Zoe to be the new wielder of the Cat Miraculous. Okay, outside of Zoe being the only one in this episode who isn't a complete idiot, I can see why Plagg would choose her, since she has experience as a superhero, and her identity wasn't exposed. As for Tikki choosing Alya? Yeah, Alya did a good job as Scarabella in “Hack-San”, but she doesn't mention that A) She and Cat Noir still needed Marinette's help to stop Robustus, and B) Alya's already had her identity exposed twice, to the point where she was the one to suggest she not be trusted with one before Marinette lost the other fifteen Miraculous at the end of the last season. Alya's not a bad hero, but these factors don't exactly make her an ideal successor to Ladybug. Also, it's pretty dumb how the whole reason Marinette and Adrien quit was for romantic reasons, yet the whole reason Alya blew her cover last season was for romantic reasons (Rocketear).
Back with Adrien and Marinette, the former plans to leave, but is interrupted by the akumatized form of Kouki, named Kikou.

Kikou's design is... I mean, it's not terrible, I guess? Putting aside the fact that this is the second Akuma in the series to go with the “black boxer” stereotype (who is also a dumb brute like Anansi was), the gold jewelry is a decent touch, and it makes sense that he has the five Alliance rings to show off his wealth. As for his powers, because he has five rings, he has five different powers, the Tiger Miraculous' Clout to power his Gum-Gum Pistol-esque punches, the Turtle Miraculous' Shelter to protect his head where the Akuma is obviously hiding, the Horse Miraculous' Voyage to move around quickly and make up for his size hindering his speed, the Ox Miraculous' Resistance to protect the aforementioned Shelter, and the Mouse Miraculous' Multitude to clone himself with. This is the Akuma that really made me realize that the gimmick of every Akuma this season having the powers of whatever Miraculous Monarch gives them is just an excuse to half-ass writing any new Akuma powers in favor of the same fifteen abilities the other Miraculous have.
Kikou attacks the city, but Alya transforms into Scarabella, soon being joined by Zoe, AKA, Kitty Noire.

Kitty Noire's design is... pretty weird, all things considered. The green lipsick just doesn't look that good, I don't get the green hair extensions, and why are they eyes like that when even Lady Noire's eyes stayed green? At the very least, the hair looks marginally better than Catwalker's, and I like the detailing on the suit itself.
While Scarabella and Kitty Noire quickly get to know each other, Marinette and Adrien get used to being civilians again pretty quickly as they watch them fight off Kikou, the two new heroes struggling to keep up with Kikou's five Miraculous powers. Of course, Marinette and Adrien only look mildly concerned, not even regretting their choices in the slightest.

Our heroes, ladies and gentlemen.
Scarabella uses her Lucky Charm, getting a parachute, which is totally different from the kind used in the final episode of the first episode. Scarabella and Kitty Noire taunt Kikou, Scarabella drawing Kikou's fire while Kitty Noire recruits a bunch of firefighters, who then get some paint from the art store Socqueline runs. The firefighters then load the paint into their truck's hose, which is then used to fill up the parachute. Kitty Noire cuts the rope, and the paint blinds Kikou, and as soon as he deactivates his shield, Scarabella breaks his headgear, freeing the Akuma.
Scarabella de-evilizes the Akuma, sort of helps Kouki and Nora make up, uses Miraculous Scarabella to fix all the damage, while Marinette and Adrien compliment the new heroes from afar before promising to meet up at school tomorrow.
The first episode ends with Gabriel's Alliance recording the unusual data in two Alliances, meaning that Scarabella and Kitty Noire's identities have already been exposed... even though Tikki should have known this since “Jubiliation”. Yeah, you all know where this is going.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... TIKKI

While the competition was tough, Tikki was able to get the win for going along with this asinine plan in the first place that prioritized the personal feelings of two people over the fact that Monarch was at his most dangerous. Not only that, she forgot Marinette was still the Guardian, she forgot that Alya's identity was already exposed twice, and that even if she didn't know the Alliance rings were a front for Monarch's plan, forgot that these hi-tech rings track the everyday movements of its users, not even telling Plagg this before he chose Zoe.
The second part, “Deflagration”, immediately starts off with Kitty Noire saying that Ladybug and Cat Noir have nothing to feel guilty about even though they essentially abandoned Paris when Ladybug was shown to be getting backlash for her failure, but of course, that isn't mentioned here.
Kitty Noire: We’ll accomplish our mission just like they did, because the goal we all share is to defeat Monarch, isn't it?
News Reporter: Or perhaps Ladybug and Cat Noir renounced their mission so they could finally live their love story?
Scarabella: They were never in love or in a relationship, and neither are we.
Kitty Noire: (in a flirtatious tone) So far anyway!
I'd make a “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” joke here, but we all know Alya is already in a relationship.
Alya and Marinette meet up, the former congratulating her successor on another great job. The two talk about Adrien, and Alya once again encourages Marinette to focus more on pursuing a relationship with him, no doubt planning another stupid party in her mind.
We then get a scene that actually reminds the audience that Chloe and Zoe are supposed to be sisters. I understand if you might have forgotten, but don't worry. I'm pretty sure the writers did too. Of course, I think the writers might be running out of new ways to make Chloe mean to someone, because this time, she just yells at Zoe for being near her and not being in the “half-of-a-sister zone”. In order to appease her sister and make sure she doesn't call their mom, Zoe offers to wash all of Chloe's shoes. Plagg talks to Zoe about possibly standing up to her sister.
Plagg: How about I Catacylsm that sister of yours instead?
Zoe: It’s pointless, Plagg.
Plagg: Zoe, you can't let them treat you that way; no one speaks to me like that! Just ask the T-rexes... That is, if you can find one! Because they're not so smug anymore now, are they?
Zoe: It’s best to stay out of trouble in this family if I'm going to protect my secret identity.
Plagg: You start by giving up cheese, and then you end up giving up on dignity, freedom, and justice!
Zoe: I feel like you like to blow things out of proportion, don't you?
Plagg: Yes... especially when I’m starving.
Talking about standing up to your mean sister, contemplating murder while casually discussing genocide. Same thing, right?
We cut to Gabriel, who's over the moon about the recent revelation regarding Scarabella and Kitty Noire, even dancing a little. He tells Nathalie and heads to his lair to plan his next scheme, but not before chatting with Emilie's body once again. Gabriel transforms into Monarch and gives himself the powers of the Bee, Mouse, Rooster, Ox, and Horse Miraculous, traveling to the school himself.
Meanwhile, we cut to the Resistance, where we see Max has set up a system where, through the use of the Alliance rings and their phones, the members can alert the school to whenever there's an active Akuma... even though one of the features included in the Alliance includes an Akuma alert (Multiplication), and there's also been an Akuma alarm since Season 2 (Riposte). So once again, this brave and totally important Resistance has contributed absolutely nothing. Okay, there are some other parts, like some of the members planning to fight off the Akuma with paintball guns if there's no other option. You know, this is proof that this show takes place in France, because if this was America, they would most likely have actual guns.
At lunch, Marinette and Adrien get closer, to which Lila uses as an opportunity to manipulate Chloe into trying to break up the moment, but not before we get a joke where Chloe needs Alliance to define the word “generous”. Okay, I'm not sure if the joke was that Chloe is so selfish, she doesn't know the meaning of the word, or if the writers are now resorting to using “dumb blonde” jokes for Chloe now, which totally isn't a cliche that was overused twenty years ago to the point where there was an entire movie starring Reese Witherspoon made to subvert it. Either way, NOT FUNNY, DIDN'T LAUGH.
Chloe tries to ruin the moment by telling Adrien Marinette is in love with him, but he's not having any of that. She tries telling jokes that are supposed to be unfunny, they're funny, but it lacks the charm of something like Hank Hill attempting to tell “yo mama” jokes. Zoe stands up to Chloe, which pisses her off so much, she willingly accepts an Akuma from Monarch (currently invisible thanks to the Rooster Miraculous), turning into Sole Destroyer.

Sole Destroyer is... wow... Just... WOW... they didn't even try with this one. At least Miracle Queen made sense as an upgrade to Queen Wasp, but this? They literally just took Sole Crusher, whose design resembling Chloe made sense thematically in that episode, gave her a new pair of sunglasses, some more gemstones and spikes, and made her eyes glow as if she was a character in an episode of The Nostalgia Critic. Why go to this effort to make a new Akuma when so little is done with the new design? Wouldn't it make sense to bring back Antibug, given Chloe has been against Ladybug since the end of Season 3? As for Sole Destroyer's powers, it's just Sole Crusher's magic kicks, only instead of growing bigger in size after absorbing each victim and making her more of a threat, they transform into singing shoes. You know, guys, it just dawned on me how... how weird this show is. Kinda goofy...
Alya and Zoe attempt to transform, but Monarch, using a combination of the Mouse, Bee, and Rooster Miraculous' powers, stuns the two and steals the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from them. Plagg attempts to Cataclysm Monarch, but Monarch uses Resistance to block it, immediately going to unify. Before the process can be completed, both Tikki and Plagg use Lucky Charm and Cataclysm respectively, Tikki summoning a trash can with the side effect of creating a new Eiffel Tower, and Plagg destroying the Cat Miraculous. Doing so ends up creating an endless cycle of things being created and destroyed, and unlike in “Dearest Family”, they don't reuse footage from “Style Queen”.
Marinette gets the trash can, and realizes what's happening, and while Adrien and Nino plan to have the Resistance try and stop Sole Destroyer, Marinette works on making her own Ladybug costume. Monarch orders Tikki to tell him what the hell's going on, Tikki explains that since Plagg destroyed the Cat Miraculous, he lost his only method of communicating with the physical plane, and all Monarch needs to do to get what he needs is to take back the Lucky Charm Tikki created. Just then, Marinette arrives, dressed up as Ladybug, and seemingly having the Lucky Charm in her hands, only for Monarch to steal it, unifying into Monarbug.

Given how stupid he looked as Shadow Noir last season, it's not exactly surprising to learn that Gabriel looks just as stupid unified with the Ladybug. The red and black polka dots just don't go with the black and purple. The one thing I'll give them credit for is that the eyes look kind of cool.
The Lucky Charm turns out to be a fake, and Nino jumps in to save Marinette from being hit with Venom. The rest of the Resistance also arrives, somehow having beaten up Sole Destroyer off-screen and turning her into a battering ram. Monarbug undoes the Akumatization, but Rose, Ivan, and Kim dogpile Monarbug, leaving Adrien to steal back the Ladybug Miraculous for Marinette.
Marinette transforms back into Ladybug, and uses Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damage and fix the Cat Miraculous. While Ladybug fights Monarch, she learns that he reforged the Miraculous before Monarch uses Multitude and Voyage to make his escape, swearing that he'll beat Ladybug someday, “We'll meet again, Spider-Man”, yadda yadda yadda.
Tikki and Marinette talk about finding new holders, only for Marinette to choose to take back the Miraculous, figuring that since Monarch doesn't know their identities (once again forgetting what the Alliance rings can do), that's the best option. Plagg takes back the Cat Miraculous and goes to say goodbye to Zoe, reassuring her that she was still brave enough to stand up to Chloe, because I guess to hell with the people who somehow managed to restrain Chloe while she was Sole Destroyer. And so this episode, and by extension, this two-parter, ends with Ladybug and Cat Noir talking about how their Kwamis saved the day... even though they were the reason Monarch almost won in the first place.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... CHLOE

In addition to somehow not knowing the definition of the word “generous”, she failed to come up with a good comeback against Marinette, chose to get akumatized to get revenge, failed at that, betrayed Sabrina and Lila, her only allies, for no good reason, and somehow got defeated off-screen by a bunch of civilians with no superpowers, not even getting to fight either of the new heroes, including her sister.
But yeah, in case you can't tell, these episodes were pretty bad. The entire premise of Tikki and Plagg deciding that Marinette and Adrien's love lives were more important than stopping Monarch was a hard pill to swallow, especially since their replacements didn't get to do anything outside of a single Akuma fight. You'd think that with the buildup Zoe got standing up to Chloe, she'd at least play a role in stopping Sole Destroyer, but instead, she and Alya are benched for almost the entirety of “Deflagration”. It's also really dumb that the ending tried to make them out to be the MVP's of the fight, when their idea was what caused Monarch to almost get the Miraculous.
Even Marinette and Adrien didn't really make a lot of progress here. All they did was talk a little, but even after “Deflagration”, not much else happened. Yeah, Adrien stood up for Marinette, but they still haven't officially started dating yet, even when they had every reason to after giving up their Miraculous. It's still better than nothing, but after four and a half seasons, I think we're allowed to want a little more development with the Love Square Wouldn't it have been interesting to see Marinette and Adrien try to start a relationship during their brief retirement, only to struggle to maintain it after becoming superheroes again? We're almost halfway through the season, and the Love Square is still progressing at a snail's pace. Then again, I guess it's better than nothing at this point.
“Transmission” was pretty boring, all things considered. Other than the first act, nothing really happened. The Akuma fight was like the others, just with two new heroes, and Marinette and Adrien got to bond for a few minutes. Nora and Kouki's drama wasn't interesting, and it wasn't even properly explained like the motivations of other Akumas.
I will say that “Deflagration” was the better of the two, if only because Marinette, Adrien, and Gabriel made some smart choices here. Unlike in “Evolution” and “Destruction”, there's no gloating or wasting time. Monarch cuts straight to the chase, and Marinette comes up with a quick plan to trick him with. Also, while I still don't really care about the Resistance, I like the idea of the civilians standing up to Monarch, and think it was executed better than it was in “Heroes' Day”. Even Sole Destroyer got a few reactions out of me for how exaggerated her facial expressions were. I don't know why they decided to give her One Piece levels of weird faces, but kudos to the animators on that front. Of course, Sole Destroyer was still one of the most pointless Akumas in the show's history, as you could take her out of the episode and nothing would have changed.
Overall, while I appreciate the effort to try and tell bigger stories, this was a really weird choice of an episode to make a two-parter.

over the hedge (2006) could very easily have been another middling 00's cg disaster w an all-star cast, forgettable and kinda phoned-in like open season or happily n'ever after (which came out the same year) but i think its actually a thoughtful adaptation w a lot of really good qualities. its about deprivation and want, found family and stepping on others to get ahead, and (sub)urbanization encroaching on nature, and it has an emotional core n im deadass !!
its based on a newspaper comic that centers on rj the raccoon and verne the box turtle, who live in the woods behind a ritzy suburb and menace n befriend its inhabitants. the comic is usu 4-5 panels per comic, and story arcs can stretch across multiple comics. there r a lot of characters that come and go, both human and animal, tho the core group usually stays at three characters-rj, verne, and someone else relevant to the current arc. so it couldve been questionable to extend that core group of characters from three to eleven (11!) in the movie, but i think it really works out. they position rj as the main character, and the other characters have an existing connection with verne, so act as an extension of him and his character arc. hammy is based on a character from the comics, but altered a bit, and stella, penny lou and the kids, and ozzie and heather are all original for the movie. and they all get equal time with rj, at no point in the movie do u forget about any of them-the exact opposite actually, we learn things abt them every time theyre on screen. its a really great use of screen time and dialogue.
and the character arcs! in the comics, verne is the more philosophical, searching one, and hes more often than not the loser at the end of things, often the butt of jokes, contrasting rj, who is more cynical, an indulgent slacker who only puts effort into slacking, often making the aforementioned jokes. they have a charming and humorous relationship, tho it is very much established. the movie however, reads as a sort of prequel to that relationship-rj and verne meet for the first time abt 15 mins in. it also makes some changes to their characters-verne is the cautious, tactless psuedo-patriarch of a cross-species family while rj is a lonely starving scavenger who has to scheme for the things he needs. the inciting incident, a broken vending machine convincing rj to steal food from a hibernating bear acquaintance of his, which is then all destroyed, leading to him making a deal with the bear to get it all back in just one week, could lead u to believe his motivation is greed-hes a little raccoon, and he didnt need to take all that food. but the rest of the movie reveals his motivation is longing, and loneliness.
the opening credits are layered over a sequence of rj scrounging in the garbage for something to eat. when he meets verne and his family of foragers, they r frightened by a new hedge in their forest, which surrounds a new 54-acre housing development, and wondering how theyre going to find enough food to hibernate the following year. rj sees this as an opportunity to trick them into helping him collect the food he needs for the bear from the suburb. their first disastrous encounter with a human initially throws a wrench in that, prompting rj to lie about losing his own family to gain sympathy and trust from them. but over time, he begins to actually care for them-he's shown playing video games with the baby porcupines, listening to music with heather, encouraging ozzie in his acting, even checking up on hammy when one of rj's plans gets him hurt; in their final heist, he changes the way everyone sees stella, showing her that she's more than just her smell. but the very real danger of being eaten by a bear remains rj's motivation until the final act, and we r shown up to that point that rj does not think he can get anything simply by asking.
which is a great contrast to verne, whose initial motivation is altruistic-he's worried abt the safety and survival of his family, whom he's responsible for. they already had barely enough to survive, and now almost the entire forest is gone around them. verne feels threatened by rj's charisma and seeming capability, and intimidated by the unknown world of the suburb, which turns into jealousy, as the rest of the family warms up to rj and his ideas and change. in an attempt to get things back to normal after a pest exterminator comes to their suburb, verne inadvertently destroys all the food his family had collected earlier in a sick montage, leading to an argument where verne says some insulting and hurtful things. sort of expelled from the family, feeling chastised, verne reflects on his feelings and behavior, and comes to rj to apologize. at the same time, rj is realizing that he's kinda fucked-he doesn't have the food he needs, and he's torn apart a family in the process. he's about to come clean and tell verne the truth, when, in a parallel of the beginning of the movie, he sees the opportunity to have everything he wants-the food and the family. so they put together one final plan, to get everything in one night, and it works, until it doesnt, and the truth comes out and rj abandons them, allowing verne and his family to be caged by the exterminator while he takes the food to give to vincent (the bear). but faced with the reality of that decision, watching the family he always wanted be carted away to be killed, rj changes his mind, taking the food from vincent's hands to go back and save his friends.
their reunion is intense and funny and immensely satisfying. you're glad rj made the right decision, that verne apologized and was forgiven, and the mad-dash escape from vincent and the exterminator culminates in an impossible plan that works out bc its an anthro kids movie, of course it would have a happy ending. after the antagonists r defeated, there's a scene where verne formally invites rj into their family, and tells him that if he'd been honest with them, told them he needed the food to pay back an angry bear, they would've helped him. bc that's what families do. and rj says "i've never had anything like that," correcting his lie from earlier. and the but ive always wanted it goes unsaid, bc he has it now, and he knows that.

Deltarune: Why Gaster has a Split Personality

Holy shit... so, in case you're living under a rock, the Deltarune Winter Newsletter came out last night, and its release sent ripples throughout the entire UT/DR fandom.
Included in the Newsletter is a development update which states that Chapter 3 is pretty much complete.

The only aspect of the chapter still being worked on is the localization process from English to Japanese – the entire team is now working on Chapter 4. So that's nice - they even have an internal deadline for the actual game, so we can expect a release within the next year and a half.
However, the main selling point of this entire newsletter was the fact that it's themed around Valentine's Day. And as a result, there were a lot of Valentine's Day letters sent from the various Undertale and Deltarune characters. Here's one from Undyne:

That's right! Even Gaster has a letter of his own! In fact, it's the rarest letter of them all that to my knowledge, only one person received, until minutes later, the letter itself was erased from Fangamer's website. However, the letter was archived in the nick of time.

Wow, so that was a lot, right? There's quite a bit to analyze here, from Gaster needing help, to him forgetting someone - and it certainly added fuel to the fire that is the deltarune theory community.
However, there's one particular debate taking place all over the internet right now, for you see... some people don't think that letter was sent by Gaster. For one, the tone of this letter doesn't match his usual scientific, detached, and robotic demeanor he's usually associated with. He appears much more down-to-earth, speaking in a much more formal way than he usually does. And for many in the fandom at the moment, that is enough ground to say this character isn't Gaster.

Despite how utterly insane and ridiculous this might sound to you, these people do bring up good points. And of course... these people also use the Japanese translation as evidence. In the Japanese version of Undertale and Deltarune, Gaster speaks in Katakana and Kanji, two rather complex and sophisticated alphabets, but in this letter, Gaster speaks in Hirigana - a more casual, laid-back, and simplistic alphabet, reflecting his demeanor.
So, what gives? Is this a different Gaster? Are there two Gasters at work here, who may or may not be at odds with one another? Is there going to be a Gaster War?
No. People seem to be forgetting something: Gaster was shattered across time and space, as revealed by Undertale.

This isn't just some figurative jargon - one of the Gaster Followers quite literally holds a piece of Gaster in his hand. I know this is often overlooked, but what do you think the psychological effects of this could be?
It would likely be an extremely traumatic experience, if I'm going to be honest - as parts of your mind and body become fragmented across the entire universe and across time itself. So: it's quite possible that Gaster simply has... a split personality.
There aren't two Gasters or anything ridiculous like that, but rather, the one Gaster we know has his mind scattered across the universe, quite literally fragmented - such that different aspects of his personality present themselves at different times. In fact, such a condition exists in the real world: it's called Dissociative Identity Disorder, and it is most often associated with trauma resulting in the compartmentalization of the mind into multiple personality states, otherwise known as alters.
These are not separate people - think of it like turning a light switch on and off, or closing a door. And this is my solution to this debate that has begun about Gaster - I like to think of it as a compromise, but Gaster having a split personality like this can really spice up the story a bit - and could even solve some of the lingering mysteries about what happened to the secret bosses, but as of now, this only exists as theory tape.

Need some college advice, one of the classes I'm taking is Political science but it's synchronous me I do at home on my own. and I am STRUGGLING . I feel like I learned nothing and we're on week 5. it's not the subject but the way it's taught, thing is I KNEW this would happen I was home-schooled from 4th-12th and it was structured same way and I just couldn't get with it. But I figured that was then, this is now besides good to have a back up as a spoonie and my dad's (my main transportation) ailing health. However recent quiz I got 4/10. ...I just don't know, I have a meeting with advisor tomorrow but wonder should I just withdraw from this class and retake in person next semester? But I feel like a quitter
Listen, first and foremost: no academic endeavor is worth your mental and/or physical health. If this class is tying you up in knots, if you're not learning anything because of the way it's structured, and it could potentially mess up your GPA (provided that's something you care about it)... ditch the class. Also, you deserve to get the most out of your learning experience.

Sure, there's nuance. What percentage of your grade is made up of quizzes vs things like papers or assignments, which are sometimes harder to fail? Does the professor allow retakes? Extra credit? At week 5 things are probably still salvageable, even if you might not necessarily get an A.
But honestly? It sounds like you're not getting much out of this class, and that's the most important thing. If it helps, don't think of it as quitting, think of it as making an evidence-based decision. You did an experiment with this kind of learning in a new setting, you have some preliminary results, and based on that data you are going to alter future parameters.
There are some time constraints you want to think about. Most schools have an add/drop window where there's no penalty for leaving a class, but that usually ends around the second week. Past that point there's another window where you can formally withdraw from a class, but it will show as a W on your transcript. Sometimes, depending on the situation, you can still get your money back with a W.
Ws are not the end of the world; many people wind up taking them for many different reasons. Most post-college opportunities don't actually care about the details of your transcript, and those that do often give you the opportunity to explain things like this. You have a totally valid reason, which is that the course was not being taught in a way that was conducive to your learning needs.
(I personally have 4 Ws on my transcript because I had to drop out of school when my health was at its worst, and look—they let me into grad school anyway! Pretty much any other job I could go for will only care that I graduated college, and many won't even ask for a GPA.)
IMPORTANT CAVEAT: I am, ultimately, just a guy on the internet. Everything that I say should be taken with a grain of salt. I do not know you, your unique situation, or the nuances of the educational institution you attend. I also cannot make decisions for you. What I can do is provide context in the form of an opinion, but see the above remark about grains of salt.

I think it’s pretty whacky that Madoka Magica was brought up recently, when Stanley pulling a PMMM episode 6 on Smudger was what started the series of unfortunate events on the Mid Sodor that eventually lead to its closure, and even later down the line, the effort to get some justice for the engines who fell victim to humanity’s lack of care way back when.
I’ve said before that Smudger was a prototype/test build that got sold for a decent price to Mid Sodor under the guise of him being a proper build, and the issues of his shoddy build didn’t become evident until later on. But I can’t remember if I’ve touched on what Stanley did before.
Stanley is, for all intents and purposes, the big catalyst of the conflict that started on Mid Sodor. For some weird reason, even though their numbers were still scarce, humans still decided to go to war with each other, but because they were few in number, engines like Stanley were built to assist with the war effort! Hence uh, Gun.

Needless to say our boy saw some crazy and upsetting shit during whatever war this was, and then he was sent off to work on the Mid Sodor without any consideration for what kinda mental state he was in. Crazy thing about giving robots sentience is that you kinda have to make sure they’re okay? Y’know? In any case, Stanley’s not okay. And as you could imagine it probably didn’t take this big, loud-mouth American loco to start spouting off to everyone else on Mid Sodor (Duke n Smudger and a couple others who will remain nameless) about how evil humans are and how unfairly some of their fellow engines are treated by them.
Duke doesn’t want to hear any of this of course because uhhh human based, My Grace is an outstanding man yadda yadda. Smudger’s keen to sit on the fence and try and keep the peace between the two uhhhh until the PMMM episode 6 shit happens.

I’ve mentioned before how that lil black box/chip you see on our friend there is Him. That’s his whole being, that’s anything and everything he’s ever done and said, that’s his personality, that’s his lil weirdo quirks, that’s eeeeeverything, and usually for a proper model, that’s stored inside of their bodywork so it’s protected. Smudger was most likely designed with his temporary build in mind, so that black box can be removed easily and destroyed or transferred into another prototype build to see how quickly that one breaks. It’s pretty brutal and I don’t imagine whoever built him meant for him to form any kind of personality, but he did anyway because,,, well, he’s Smudger.
(There is probably a reason but I’m too stoopid to think of it rn.)
All of this eventually comes into play when Stanley is yet again frothing at the mouth over humanity’s careless treatment of them, and the disagreement reaches a boiling point when he - having probably seen other test models like Smudger keel over and fall apart during the war effort, grabs hold of his chip aaaaand YOINK. And what does that do?

Stanley is undoubtedly a dick for using Smudger as an example to prove a point (mostly to Duke) and he does apologise later down the line, but the damage is done, and while it doesn’t do much to Duke, that ordeal radically alters Smudger’s perception of the railway and their human manager. I think? At some point during the original plot of Dissent, he and Stanley try to just hightail it out of the railway to spread the word? But they got caught before they had the chance, and that paired with their poor performance on the railway lead to their decommission.
Aaaaand said decommission lead to the slow and eventual downfall of Mid Sodor and most things surrounding it. It didn’t do a whole lot at the time besides Duke repressing everything and mixing Smudger and Stanley together in his head to make into a story to scare Stuart and Falcon. But by the time Smudger is recovered and Stanley (now Bertram) skulks his way onto the Skarloey Railway, there is a proper effort with activists and engines who felt mistreated by humans, to seek out some form of justice.
And to think that all of this bs started because Stanley was a fan of Madoka Magica. Wild.

Javert is thinking!! A true crisis!!
On a more serious note, the changes in Javert have been hinted at before this chapter. But here, we see just how radical they are internally rather than externally. I particularly like how gradually we shift from the external to the internal, starting from his different posture and expanding to how that reflects his newfound uncertainty and his frantic attempts to decide on a path when there’s normally only been one “right” way to do anything in his mind.
Previously, Javert’s altered state has been hinted at through cat comparisons. Now, we return to his usual wolf-dog ties, but from a new angle:
“For several hours, Javert had ceased to be simple. He was troubled; that brain, so limpid in its blindness, had lost its transparency; that crystal was clouded. Javert felt duty divided within his conscience, and he could not conceal the fact from himself. When he had so unexpectedly encountered Jean Valjean on the banks of the Seine, there had been in him something of the wolf which regains his grip on his prey, and of the dog who finds his master again.”
Aside from Hugo’s digs at Javert’s (lack of) intelligence, he’s once again being compared to a wolf and a dog, but the associations seem to be flipped. He’s a “wolf” in that he’s caught his prey - making his police work wolf-like, even though wolves have represented criminality - and he’s a “dog” who’s found his “master,” but his “master” seems to be Valjean. There’s some ambiguity, of course - his “master” could still be the Law as he captures a criminal - but it’s unusual for anything to be ambiguous with Javert. He doesn’t think. Hugo despises him. Whether for Javert himself or for us as readers, everything around him (unlike more complex characters like Valjean) is clear because he perceives it to be so. The flipped roles for animals here allude to his confusion over what is his duty (almost his sense of morality, but he does seem to think more through the lens of duty rather than right and wrong), but the lack of clarity for us indicates his own turmoil.
This chapter is honestly really dark, so there’s not much to joke about, unfortunately. That said, a journey into Javert’s mind is always an experience, and this is no exception. I think I always imagine Javert’s crisis being tied to Jean Valjean’s morality, and to some extent, it is. Processing that a convict can be moral is impossible for him, and the mere thought of it is crisis-worthy in Javert’s eyes. However, it’s also still very much tied to authority:
“What was he to do now? To deliver up Jean Valjean was bad; to leave Jean Valjean at liberty was bad. In the first case, the man of authority fell lower than the man of the galleys, in the second, a convict rose above the law, and set his foot upon it. In both cases, dishonor for him, Javert.”
Delivering Jean Valjean as “bad” is a reflection of the moral element here, but it’s “bad” not because Valjean is a good person, but because it would make him “good” relative to Javert, thus placing an officer below a convict. Javert’s crisis is partially moral, but it’s only possible within his very authority-based worldview. In a way, it might be why he doesn’t fully change. Morally, he is altered. He suggests, for instance, better treatment for prisoners, a radical concept to pre-Derailed Javert. At the same time, he can’t let go of his worldview entirely (which is fair! This is all over the course of a few hours, and he’s incredibly sleep-deprived because of how long he’s been working, whether just this night or at the barricades). He imagines everything as a “resignation,” whether in a literal sense (resigning as an officer) or a metaphorical one (dying). God is in between the divine and the concrete to him. We know he didn’t think of God, focusing instead on the authority figure more immediately above him, but God seems to just be another part of that hierarchy rather than a separate or more abstract one? He continues to envision his world through the lens of work, even as the instability he experiences stems from that same lens.
The divine imagery around Valjean is beautiful as well:
“A benevolent malefactor, merciful, gentle, helpful, clement, a convict, returning good for evil, giving back pardon for hatred, preferring pity to vengeance, preferring to ruin himself rather than to ruin his enemy, saving him who had smitten him, kneeling on the heights of virtue, more nearly akin to an angel than to a man. Javert was constrained to admit to himself that this monster existed.”
The light imagery is also fascinating:
“He perceived amid the shadows the terrible rising of an unknown moral sun; it horrified and dazzled him.”
It reminds me of when Jean Valjean was transformed by the bishop, with Valjean now taking the bishop’s place as a source of light. The caveat here, though, is that Javert is not Valjean. Jean Valjean had known goodness before, and the clear contradictions between his behavior (especially stealing from a child) and his conscience and sense of goodness (his love of children) helped get him through that crisis. Javert is discovering the concept of a conscience, and he doesn’t like it. His problem isn’t whether he is good or not. It’s whether goodness even exists. And now, he’s beginning to think it does, and not only that, that it contradicts the Law at times.
Another great line that points out the difference between them:
“Javert’s ideal, was not to be human, to be grand, to be sublime; it was to be irreproachable.”
Jean Valjean sees himself as subhuman (just as Javert does), but his ideals are to be “human” or even “sublime.” Javert’s not there.
The darkness that surrounds him as he dies likely represents death, but it also feels prison-like as the black of night traps him.

hi! so i don't have did, i'm a singlet(is that the word? I home that it is) and i'm trying to learn more about did, but i don't really know which sources i should believe and which are just ableist bullshit, so i thought that asking someone who actually has did might be a better option than just reading articles about it online.
(also, if i say anything that comes off as offensive, than i'm really sorry and it was not on purpose, i just don't really know that much about did and this community to know what stuff is offensive)
so i have a few questions about how living with did works, and i home that you could answer them? obviously you don't have to you if you don't feel comfortable with them or just generally don't want to answer them.
so
1. alters mean the personalities that you have/that you are? I will use it that way in the questions because I don't have a better word for that, sorry if i'm being really wrong about that
2. how many times daily do the alters change?
3. do you have any control over which alter is currently the one "in control"? (from what i've read on your blog you use the term "fronting" does that term mean basically being "in control"?)
4. is there, like, a main you, that is like... the owner of the body, and the others are more like, people who just decided to live in it with you, or are you all kind of the same person with the same body and you all are this person? (I hope that you understand what i mean)
5. is every alter an whole another person, or are you all kind of the same one person?
6. i've read that different alters might have different sexualities. if you are dating someone/if you were dating someone how does that work? do all the alters date that person or do just a few alters date that person? what if one alter is gay, the other is a lesbian, and another one is aromantic? does that not create a situation in which it's kind of impossible to date?
7. when alters change in who has the control how does it look? does it take a few minutes, or are all the alters ready to take the lead all the time and just waiting for their moment?
8. if one alter likes someone but amother alter hates that person how do you deal with that?
9. are there any schools that specialize in teaching systems?
10. how do u decide what you want to do in life? I mean, if one alter wants to be a movie directory, another a marine biologist and another a football player, then what do you do?
11. what is a cocon/co-con/co con? does it mean the stage that alters are in while their are not the ones in control?
Okay so there's a lot so it'll be under the cut
1) yes! Alters are a word used to describe different states of being, previously known as personalities. If I remember correctly the word comes from "Alternate" meant to refer to an alternate state of self (do not take that at face value, it's been a while since I looked into where terms come from)
2) that depends on the system! It can happen multiple times in a minute (that one isn't super regular but is annoying when it happens) and it's even possible that Alters don't switch for months at a time! It's entirely based on what the brain thinks the body needs
3) fronting is a word used to refer to who's in control of the body. And some systems may have more control, we ourselves have little to none over who fronts and when. We do know systems who have better control though. Usually though it's most common to not have a lot of control over who fronts and when. That's why occasionally you might here someone talk about "triggering an alter out" because certain things can be triggers that get alters to front
4) a "main us" would likely be considered the host if I understand you right. I feel like "deciding to live with you" is a fairly good way to explain it, though id say its more like beinf thrown into a car together and told to figure it out lol
5) we see every alter as their own person, but that can vary from system to system
6) we have a fair amount of alters with conflicting sexualities. (Lesbian, gay man, aromantic, etc.) for us a few of us might date someone, but not all of us would. Again though, this can be something that varies from system to system.
7) this is another thing that can vary from system to system. And honestly from switch to switch (switch; referring to alters changing who is in control of the body). Sometimes our switches can happen as fast as you could snap your figures, those ones tend to be very jarring and confusing. Sometimes our switches can take hours, and cause a lot of disassociation.
For us it's not really like alters are just "at the ready, waiting for their time to front" and often when we switch with someone who was expecting to switch in, they can get a bit annoyed
8) Constantine hated my (the host) partner for a long time and it was just something we had to communicate about. He's very tolerant of my partner now, which is good. But I don't expect him to like my partner, which is important to understand sometimes. Not every alter is going to like the same people, and as long as there's in system communication (and possibly communication with the person) that's okay
9) no schools that we're aware of
10) our personal rule is "Minor decisions are made by the host/whoever's fronting at the time)" and that can apply from what to eat to what clothes to buy. And "big decisions require discussion" so college and jobs, moving and such. We have to have long discussions (that would be faster if we didn't share a body lol) about what we want in life. It can be very difficult but it does help us feel like we all get a say. This can vary from system to system tho
11) co-con stands for "Co-concious" which just means that alter is aware of the front, while not actually fronting themselves. I like to describe it as them being in the back seat while I'm driving

Radiation v Light
Despite Red being the most intense light that the human eye can register, we cannot see anything on the electro-magnetic spectrum before that.
Despite Violet being the highest vibration our eyes can register, we can't see anything after that.
Why? What makes visible light different from invisible light? Infrared is what we would call "Heat". For all intents and purposes, it's the source of global warming.
We can even see it if we use special infrared goggles. Ultraviolet and beyond, however, is what we would call "Radiation" and not the good kind either.
It can cook whatever it comes in contact with. Despite this; the human body uses UVA/UVB to create Melanin in the skin. And that's how we get a nice tan.
<aside>Unless you're a Vampire, or a White supremacist. The the Sun just burns you.
Ireland need not @ me. It's not my fault your time spent living in a bog genetically altered your DNA for the Reich purpose.</aside>
UVA-C and beyond, however, is incredibly dangerous because it can go through most any substance. Unless that substance is dense enough.
Like Lead, which we typically use for anti-radiation shielding, despite how poisonous it is to humans.
And so, when we talk about "Quantum Tunneling" this is part of that conversation. Light's ability to move through a barrier of some kind. Heat also moves through, but usually because it warms whatever it comes in contact with. UV and beyond penetrates.
Now, despite this; we've identified substances that light up under black light. "Black Light" because despite the fun Violet we typically include with UV-lights, you can't actually see the light emitted except if it comes in contact with Phosphor, or another similar substance.
Phosphor illuminates after UV (or another form of radiation) comes in contact with it. Creating visible light from the reaction of the invisible light.
This isn't the UV-light reflecting mind you. It's a different light source entirely created from the reaction that Phosphor has.
This is one of the theories on how the sun emits light. It's full of a hot Phosphorescent kind of material, the Sun emits UV-Light(which also makes it to earth) and the UV-LIGHT, while traveling through that material, creates visible light.
The heat we receive must be the heat from the Sun as well, the reaction creating a Phosphorescent effect from the heat and UV-Emission.
And then we get to the Black hole, or Dark Matter objects.
When a star gets too close to this object, Ribbonification (or spaghetti-fication) happens. Some say the black hole eats the Star. I think something else; I think that the black hole simply pulls some of the Phosphor from the passing star into it's own orbit. It could even be possible the object is emitting UV-Light. As a Star would, it just doesn't have the Phosphorescent material on its surface like a typical star does.
And so we get this term; Dark Star, instead of black hole. Because it's a more apt description.
The Dark Star/Hole has a gravitational pull like a star does, an event horizon, and even emits a form of radiation. But what it does *not* emit; is visible light.
Which is emitted from Phosphorescent material specifically.
Electro-magnetic waves are strange things, they can reflect off, be absorbed by, and refract off the same object simultaneously.
And it's at higher frequencies we see less of this behavior.
Thus a second theory in the same post from a completely different field; the visible spectrum of light does all those things; reflect, refract, and absorb.
Infrared and below is more likely to be absorbed, and therefore; less visible. Ultraviolet and beyond, stops reflecting and refracting, and eventually, stops being absorbed. Instead travelling through most any substance.
And that's why we can see part of the spectrum, but not others.
And yet; this still doesn't entirely explain "White light" an imaginary combination of multiple frequencies of light that we perceived as white.
The same way Magenta is "seen" I guess. Since Magenta is the combination of Red and Violet. And not technically a color that exists.
Unless the emf-spectrum has some measurable data that we don't have recorded anywhere. And I highly suspect it does (and said so in the previous post.)

i know we're all waiting for tsukasa to full on sob at some point (cmon let the girlie cry,,,) which made me wonder! what sorta things do you think could make him start crying? hes so.... easygoing/takes everything in his stride that im really curious lol
I think Tsukasa is an unconventional sort of person, so I think along the lines of what he does and doesn't experience, what he does and doesn't expect...
Tsukasa has never been afraid to die, so things that seem scary, dangerous, especially to children, usually don't do anything, and never have.

He's used to people calling him annoying, or weird or crazy, or wishing he would go away. So that sort of thing doesn't phase him. Another day being Tsukasa.

If you asked me… I think the opposite of all of that could make Tsukasa cry... like....
Amane finally being direct, and telling him "I love you", or describing his importance, or the things he loves about him-- I don't think Tsukasa is ready to hear something like that... I don't know if he conceptualizes it.
Perhaps, in the same vein, Nene-chan feeling openly sad for him, I don't think he would expect. Nene-chan being kind and friendly towards him, maybe, or wanting to get to know him, or wishing things could be better, or expressing that she doesn't want him to die, or observing that he's lonely … nobody outside of Amane and Tsukasa have really observed what goes on between them, and Amane doesn't share his thoughts much. Nene-chan could offer unique perspective he's not able to imagine on his own. I feel that could touch him.
I think about … the chronically ill brother in Takase-Bune who only sees himself as a burden… who kills himself to free his brother from their sorry life… so that at least one of them can have a chance at something...
or the scorpion in Night on the Galactic Railroad, whos life has only hurt others, and so, it wants its death to provide joy to others at last…
Because AidaIro-sensei have referenced both of these things, and even particularly drawn Tsukasa as the scorpius constellation…explicitly the remorseful, now burning scorpion... mm … how often has anyone really offered praise and adoration to Tsukasa? Been grateful for him? Thanked him just for being there, being alive? Amane is famously so bad at it.
Not only things AidaIro have referenced... but the past story they made, Narisokonai Snow White, I think about that too...
in that story, two twins are born into servitude-- one to be a princess's servant, the other, to be a scholar, and keeper of the kingdom's crazy knowledge of poisons. From a young age, he's doing nothing but reading about the effects of poisons, so you get a very unconventional boy... and eventually, a person all too accustomed to the idea of suffering, death, terrible symptoms, and yet completely and utterly devoid of conventional childhood memories. The princess of the story expresses things such as, that she would be sad, when he goes away (really, he plans to kill himself...).... more than he believes he deserves. The princess's pity and sympathy touches his heart.
Tsukasa was already a strange child, and then, the Red House alters his perception of 'life' and 'value'-- what has 'value'? Whatever people individually feel. People exchange all kinds of things, for all kinds of reasons ... people are willing to lose something to gain something else, people scale the importance of things nonsensically. I think that sort of peek into people's hearts, would break down your idea of what it means to be "special", what life itself is "for". A sort of coin to exchange for something else. Tsukasa saw himself as something like that. I think humans have an inscrutable value system ... so Tsukasa seems to have an ungrounded sense of importance or unimportance to life, a lack of appropriate response to any of it. Is it sad when someone dies? Sometimes, but not always. Sometimes nobody liked you, sometimes you made other's life worse, sometimes you just weren't regarded at all. I'm sure he saw many selfish and crude exchanges in the Red House, and people desperate for something or other. Some lives worth losing your mind over, some lives worth less than nothing.
In light of that, it's obvious why the idea of Amane KILLING HIM, AND THEN THROWING AWAY HIS OWN LIFE is an INTOXICATING concept. ... asking for, what, nothing at all? Why would he do that? That isn't an 'exchange' of anything. Of course he has to observe for himself, why Amane would do that ...
In my mind, it seems like the most likely thing to finally throw him off would be his own value or presence spelled out …
you could threaten Tsukasa, you could hate Tsukasa, you could kill Tsukasa, and he would be fine with that, he would understand why you want to do that, he is very familiar with people hating another, wanting someone gone, wishing life could be easier...

I love the internet
Its just some people on here that I dislike.
I think the internet was an incredible thing to happen that changed countless lives across the globe! It makes things easier. You can find people who understand you, share creations, share interests, share thoughts, buy, sell, show, perform, comfort people, help people, make friends, get support, start a business, spread awareness, and much more! Its a powerful tool that is often underappreciated. It is a PRIVILEGE. Not a right.
Now there are some people who use the internet to harm rather than help. Some choose the veil of anonymity to harass people. Some abuse and manipulate people. Some share hateful or inappropriate content, even though they're well aware of children on the internet.
With all of the amazing advantages technology brought us, came people who sought to use it in overall not good ways. Now more than ever its easier to come across something traumatic, inappropriate, cruel, scary, manipulative, illegal, and horrific things. All it takes is one wrong click for a child in elementary school to stumble across 18+ websites. All it takes is one typo to ruin a persons innocence. All it takes is one "prank" to traumatize someone. Im grateful my parents limited my internet access as a child. I know for a fact I would have stumbled upon some stuff that would have near irreversibly altered my mind. Lots of totally cool and normal things exist for certain audiences that arent really unethical, but the thing is, a lot of sites wont make sure of age. Most just have you click a checkbox that you are 18 or older. Its irresponsible in my opinion.
I'm going to make one example of my last point using a game im very familiar with that isnt a huge issue: Doki Doki Literature Club. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! also this is so unlike me lmao. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I GOT ANYTHING WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM BAD AT WRITING SO HFUKJSGJh
It is a FANTASTIC indie psychological horror game with many interesting aspects and dark topics. The problem? Its marketed as a dating simulator with a cutesy style. A kid who failed to read more or heard from a friend saying to check it out as a prank (the latter happened to me) can easily download the original free game. Well, no biggie, right? It has a warning at the beginning, so it should be fine, right? Wrong. Lets take a look at the disclaimers.

Do you see that? "This game is not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed" and "Individuals suffering from anxiety or depression may not have a safe experience playing this game." Now Ive played this game more times than I can count. Ive done every route, ive gotten every ending, i've gotten every secret,I even used to have a lot of the dialogue memorized, so trust me when I say, yes, this game can be incredibly unsettling at times, but its not the worst thing one can encounter. However its easily accessible as its completely free. The issue with the warning screens is a few things. One, you literally can just click through them without reading them like many do. Two, people may only skim the text or not care enough to go to the link. Three, IT DOES NOT SPECIFY WHAT IS DISTURBING!!! Lets take another look at the first warning: "This game is not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed". Well, this game is marketed as a a cute highschool dating sim. For all parents or children know it could just be a bit spicy, and I know from experience, kids usually think they're grown enough to handle these things. What if a child goes in expecting a makeout scene when they go to Sayoris room to check on her before the festival only to find her corpse? Now what about the other warning? "Individuals suffering from anxiety or depression may not have a safe experience playing this game." And then it gives a link for content warnings. yes, this is better than the first IMMENSELY but the problem still stands that for all they know it could just have high stress parts or mention things like abuse or breakups or intercourse which can be triggering to some, and lets be honest, how many kids do you think will actually go to the website to read the content? Probably little to none unless their guardian figure makes them. I played this game in late fifth grade, and I thought I was practically an adult. Oh how wrong I was, BUT THATS OFF TOPIC. It would be much more beneficial and logical to just say 'this game covers dark, disturbing, and triggering topics and contains graphic content.' or something along those lines, OR EVEN VERIFY THEIR AGE. Without proper research an elementary schooler who was pranked by their friends (like me) could easily be traumatized. Im very glad I did research on it prior to my gameplay.
MY POINT IS THE INTERNET NEEDS MORE SAFETY AND STUFF BUT NOTHING STUPID LOL OKAY BYE SORRY FOR THE ABRUPT ENDINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Hi! I came across your post about niche sexualities and I saw musicsexual was tagged. I was wondering if you'd be open to telling me more about that one specifically because I think I might have an alter that identifies with that but there aren't a lot of resources that talk about being musicsexual!
For sure! I've tried to detail my experience with it here but if you want to talk about anything else my DMs are always open :D
There's no term that really fits my attraction to music in the way I feel it, which is actually the whole reason I made that post in the first place... (i did not expect it to get the traction it has received but i'm all for it!) Regardless, I tagged it with musicsexual because I felt that might be the most easy term to look up? Another term I found was Musicophilia, but that mostly just linked back to a book (under that title) about sound psychology and music theory, and didn't actually detail attraction in regards to romance/sexuality. Musicsexual doesn't really feel like it fits personally, either. I feel like there should be some official term made for it that's broader than sexual interest, in the way 'objectum' is for those with platonic/romantic/sexual interest for those with objectophilia. Honestly I'm not sure how we'd go about that, though.
Now onto my experience with music itself- this probably won't be entirely sfw as it'll talk vaguely about sexual interests, but nothing detailed? I'm not sure what warnings would apply here lol
It's not every song I'm attracted to, it's specific ones. Songs that make me feel confident, music and soundtracks that I have an emotional attachment to, songs that do "get me in the mood", but not even necessarily towards a person or a craving for romantic/sexual connection, more just that the piece of music itself brings me such intense emotional and physical feelings that I don't see many people relate to. It's like that, if that makes sense..? There's likely better ways to word it, but I'm rambling off the top of my head here.
Typically my attraction comes to songs with a strong beat, something you could dance to. It makes me want to personify the music in a sense, just to be close to it. The best way I can show that is through enjoying myself, dancing, learning the lyrics, reccomending the song, etc etc. On occasion, it'll be songs without lyrics, usually something orchestral or from a game's soundtrack, perhaps both if I'm lucky. I suppose for others their 'type' in music would be different, as it is for attraction to other people.
It's not like I believe the music itself can be the reciprocate of affection, it's not like that. It's moreso just that my brain takes the phrase 'music is beautiful' very literally, and it makes me affectionate and loving towards the piece itself. I could talk for hours about my favourite songs, and my heart would beat the same as it would if I were to ramble about all the things I love about my darling partner. It's love. Attraction. Affection. I'm not even sure what to call it, but I know what I'm feeling is the same.
Sexually? I don't know how to describe it other than "this song is HOT." I mean it's not like it always makes me feel like I'm attractive myself, though it usually does by proxy, sometimes the song is just fuckable. It just makes sense to me that way. Of course, it's not uncommon that people play music during sex, and though that is a wonderful experience in its own right, it's not quite the same to me as actually enjoying the music in a sexual sense without the need of a human presence to be attracted to. That's what made me realise that musicsexuality is its own thing, and not just some weird kink: people aren't necessary to the attraction whatsoever. Though, again, it is a nice bonus when they collide! Haha!
Put simply, music affects me in a way that makes me feel in love, and to my knowledge it's not a common experience for people to feel that way. A lot of people probably do, and don't know how to put it into words, or think it's too taboo, for one reason or another. I'm attracted to certain music, and it's nice, and it's pure. I hope there are others with my experience out there, too.

hello! we were wondering if you could elaborate more on dissociative amnesia, its types and how its more than just blackouts and such? honestly, our experiences are a little different and it makes me feel extremely valid. others don't care but i do. so. yeah. thank you sm tho
hey, i already answered about the different types in this post!
But like, so blackouts seem to be a type called dissociative fugue, where someone just wakes up somewhere else than they were, and they can't remember how they got there. I believe that's what blackouts are, but I dont think I've had an experience like that.
As for me, my experiences often are that days go by as normal, but my recollection seems to be broken up into pieces, like I'll remember last week better than I remember yesterday, or that I'll remember things out of order, and it takes a lot of poking and prodding to get myself to remember what happened fully. I believe that is dissociative amnesia, when its out of sight its sort of out of mind and the memories won't come back until I actively try to search for them. This also happens when I am done with an emotion and dissociated from that emotion, I don't know why I felt that way or remember how.
And another unique experience of mine is that I'll have memories pop up during stressful periods of time and they'll often be things that I never seen before or don't remember seeing, even if they're familiar. I call these "repressed memories". They're often not my own, but other alter's memories. This is how I found out that I may have DID, because while I do have some memories, I do have access to general memories, there are points in my life that are completely blanked out and I cannot remember things no matter how hard I try. These unique memories pop up randomly and seem to basically be shaken to the surface. Like if you shook a bottle of something, its possible it's contents will separate and come to the surface. That's how I believe my repressed memories work. I've had repressed memories of a cult ritual, of running around the streets at night. It doesn't feel like me, but it is me. I've had repressed memories of being in a house that I've not seen before. I've had aching feelings associated with these memories, and feelings that don't go away when I think about them. I believe that there are things that happened to me that I have no recollection of and that is what has made me think that I could possibly have DID.
Its like. Amnesia does not need to be at the forefront of your life, you can just go about your day as usually and not even notice anything is wrong. That's what I mean that not everyone has blackouts. That there's no interruption of daily life, that the recollection is scattered but the core memories stay constant. And yeah, when I look back, its a mess. But the current present? Nothing is going on. Even if someone were to switch out, there is usually no interruption, unless the switch is stressful.
I can't speak on other's experiences because I don't have them. But here are mine.
