there's such an innocence to when adam and harry kiss for the first time in all of us strangers: as much as harry is quite forward and directly asks if he can kiss him, they're very slow and careful about it. bit by bit they move their bodies closer as they hold each other's gaze and smile just so incredibly sweetly. adam feels shy about it because it's been a long time since he's kissed anyone and even with harry's nature and forwardness even he seems careful. they want to be careful with the moment and the energy between them, as any moment of connection like this can be fleeting and fragile and gone before you know it. adam forgets how to breathe, his mind must be running a mile a minute. and once they give themselves to each other after their first kiss they just let go, let themselves be only present in each other

#idk thoughts because what a sceeeeeeeene #the way andrew haigh directs relationships and the chemistry and the unspoken energy in a scene is magical #like it is so different in 45 years obviously but like there are so many moments in that film that are also very silent and the air is just #THICK with the feelings and thoughts of both characters.#all of us strangers has a lot of that in so many scenes as well.#there are a lot of more silent or slow scenes where the connection and feelings and thoughts are just palpable #its like a third character #a ghost that you can feel the presence of so clearly even if younever see it #and of course that says so much about the performances in it as well #like andrew and paul play this scene so beautifully and they hold that innocence and the palpable energy so well #they move just slow enough so its not dragged out but it doesnt cut the tension too early #they hold that tension and stretch it so well so when they first kiss it isnt entirely broken #and then as they let go you as the viewer also let go #god i LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!! i love andrew haigh and andrew scott and paul mescal #all of us strangers

my attempt at making a fursona

edit: because i've gotten comments on both this post and the one i shared in the subreddit that seem to misinterpret why i made this, y'all this is meant to be satire, i'm not actually trying to 'outdo' the original panel, it's supposed to look like the S3 art style which looks boring and stiff compared to the original LMAO (I even used S3 panels as the base to work off of when creating this) so yes all the issues with the redrawn version are on purpose, i'm well aware it's not as good as the original and that the anatomy is wack, that just tells me i succeeded because it's p much exactly what S3 of LO looks like JFKDLAJFDASKLJKASLD

ill be honest as much as i love to criticise the use of fatphobia for comedy ill never be able to hold the fatphobic jokes in kung fu panda against it

like yea those movies are guilty of dipping into The Usual Tropes for a cheap laugh but not only is the character writing for the fat characters the strongest and most sympathetic ive Ever seen literally just the character designs of the pandas in the 3rd movie get me choked up sometimes. theyre all so appealing and clearly treated with the same care and attention as everyone else without copping out and making them Barely Fat. po is already a size that doesnt exist in film protags and hes still the thinnest person in that whole village and that meant a lot to me

#i havent seen the movies in ages but the design of the ribbon dancer is sooo . AUGH #like not just to have that many fat characters but have them be REALLY fat without being treated as ugly or nasty #OR THEIR FATNESS BEING TEMPORARY !!! its their natural state thats how theyre meant to look!!!!#its easy to get caught in the thinking of like. having fat characters be a minority in a lineup to reflect 'real life'#EVEN THO that isnt always true but regardless #having a cast where the nonfat characters are so few and far between theyre hardly present at all. so fucking enriching 2 me #imo writing-wise the third one is by far the weakest but it still is just so important to me that they designed the pandas like that #can i kfp post on main is that allowed #idk i watched a video essay im emotional abt this again
