Spent last night tearing through a longfic. It's incredible. Perfect. It consumes me while I'm at work today. I get home. Ao3 is down, right at the good part. I'm chewing through drywall, but I wait

Ao3 is finally up again, and i finish the last two chapters: author got tired of writing it, and just collapsed the whole thing to end it quicker, killed off major characters with no payoff, and then timeskipped past the narrative climax, fast forwarding to post-canon to show protaggirl pregnant as a happy ending.

It genuinely does mean so much to me that All Might lived, and he wanted to live. Like being able to see a character so passively suicidal, who knew that his own death was coming soon yet did nothing to change its outcome, decide he wanted to keep on living? To decide that he would continue to live? And actually be able to live? Also subverting the trope of the old mentor dying after passing on all he could to his student in the progress, and ending up old and retired and happy. It's just so beautiful to see

I've had this particular scene in my head. It's past midnight somewhere in India, and neither of them could sleep. Jotaro is smoking on the roof of the shady hostel they are staying at, Kakyoin coming along to keep him company. Kakyoin plays with the radio, looking for a station broadcasting something in a language they could understand. He stumbles on a station playing jazz. He looks over at Jotaro and asks him to dance. Jotaro is hesitant but accepts anyway. They are clumsy and awkward, clear to anyone that neither had any experience dancing. But that didn't matter.

Everything slipped away. Their fatigue from being on the road, their sore bodies from the near-constant battles, and the impending danger of facing Dio. For a while, it was just the two of them, alone under the stars, lost in the music and having fun.

Now What if what came back was just off. Looks at the divine without the memories that went back decades. It looks, behaves and works in a way just off enough in a way to make the god unable to look at it. it's not you. it's not. it can't be.

.... but what if what got pulled back was still you, but its- YOU'RE wrong and broken in ways you cant understand anymore.

The apocalypse draws closer and closer and you don't know why every day that passes you seem to be falling more and more apart too. The god is gone. You are alone.
