Excerpt:

The rifle’s recoil hurts his shoulder, but Steve doesn't let it deter him. He fires again and again at their opponents, but without really aiming. Finally there’s a click as he pulls the trigger again.

“The clip…” Bucky gasps for breath. “You have to…reload!”

He frantically pats his vest in search of a new clip. He pauses as Bucky places it in his hand. With trembling fingers he inserts it into the slot and reloads. With his back pressed against the trunk, he takes several deep breaths, waiting for the best time to fight back. After seemingly endless moments, something strikes him. Surprised, he turns his head and looks at Bucky, who also looks back at him with raised eyebrows.

As quickly as the shooting began, it ended just as abruptly.

Have they hit their attackers?

Bucky's gaze goes from side to side as he waves his pistol, but then lowers it and finally places it on the ground. The magazine is empty and he can't reload with one hand, so the gun won't be of any use to him either way. Something isn't right here, that's what his gut feeling tells him.

His breathing is still rapid, and Steve has to force himself to take deep breaths. In contrast to Bucky, he’s a complete bundle of nerves and is greatly unnerved by the unnatural silence.

Bucky listens intently and tries to scan the surroundings. A cracking sound to his right makes him spin around. His suspicions are confirmed - there are several shooters.

Steve also senses the movement - and raises the rifle. The barrel is aimed at a figure who in turn aims at him. His heart seems to be jumping out of his chest, his gaze is focused on the person in front of them, standing at least 50 meters away.

"Stop!"

For a split second, confused, he looks at Bucky, who has put his hand on the rifle and makes him lower the barrel. What is that about? "But …?"

Bucky raises his hand soothingly and starts talking to the person in incomprehensible phrases.

Is Bucky starting to lose touch with reality again? What if the person sees them as dangerous and attacks them because they feel they have no other choice? Steve licks his lips nervously, as his gaze goes doubtfully back and forth between the person and Bucky. It takes Steve a moment to realize that the soldier is speaking Dari. Not fluently, but apparently well enough to be able to communicate with the person.

The weapon is lowered and the person now slowly approaches them. “Mr. America?”

Bucky nods wordlessly. He feels his strength whittling away and is grateful he’s already sitting on the ground at that moment.

“That’s…” Steve blurts out after realizing something important. The closer the person gets to them, the more obvious it becomes that it’s a teenager. “That’s still… a child?!”

Obsessed with the sudden shift in Cas' willingness to say insane romantic shit to dean in season 8. A couple of seasons ago, he would tell dean that they had a profound bond to his face. That everything he did, he did for Dean. Now? He's hesitating. He clenches his fists to avoid hugging Dean back in purgatory. He stutters and looks away before saying he stayed away from Dean to protect him. When asked what broke through heaven's brainwashing, he looks away and says he doesn't know. It's so interesting to me

#i think its a two hit combo #first of all Cas is dealing with immense guilt #over what he did to the angels AND what he did to dean #but also. i think season 8 is when cas starts to get Suspicious of his own feelings #he doesnt know hes in love. not yet #but he knows somethings wrong in that the strength of his emotions regarding dean arent just smth he can attribute to “a more profound bond #anymore #he can avoid thinking about it all he wants. but what he feels towards dean was able to get thru heavens brainwashing #and i think it scares him #spn #destiel #supernatural #castiel #dean winchester #cat spirals tag

yall i kinda dont care what you gotta say on this one cus its real to me but katsuki is lowkey a crybaby. i fully believe he cries extremely easy,, like..HAVE YOU SEEN HIM ??? do you see how quickly bothered and emotional he gets over stuff ? no,not angry—bothered and emotional. (but the angry part also works lowkey i like to think in certain situations he gets so angry he cries.)

so yeah every time you argue—wether it’s over the phone n he hangs up on you or in person and he storms off to get away from you. he’s just so mad at you, he’s angry so so angry but he doesn’t like fighting with you. he’s in the right, he’s sure he is.. but a minuscule little part of him sorta wishes he wasn’t so this fight never happened. and also, don’t tell anyone, but he’s also pretty fucking worried you’ll leave him.

oh and there they are, he feels little tears prick at his lash line, practically clawing at his face the moment he feels them coming. he sniffles loudly nose already clogged and he scowls so hard, eyebrows pinched harder like that’ll make them go away.

he’s angry, so angry. he tries to convince himself he’s fuming just so he can stop crying.

—and he cries anyway. it’s nothing too dramatic, no sobs. only a hiccup manages to pass through his lips and he’s heaving and sniffling hard, wiping at his eyes and nose.

and he cries anyway.

Scary Sunset.

I'm concepting things way outta order in this story, but I'm sure you can piece things together. Context is for a storybeat where, after defeating and capturing Adagio (thus having all three sirens in her possession), Sunset enacts her revenge plot to release the sirens on Canterlot as Thea discovers she's been manipulated. In a confrontation, the two scuffle and fight over the siren orbs while Sunset struggles with her conflicting wants and emotions.

Some Batfam Headcanons because the brain never stops;

Jason hates being called "Bruce's Son". But he hates it more when hes called "One of Wayne's Orphans/Wayne's child" because fuck you I'm his son-! wait no--

With the exception of Damian, they rarely refer to Bruce as "Dad/Father". Either it didn't occur to them/didn't see the need to/thought it would be strange. But when Dick/Jason/Tim/Cass are tired or injured it might slip out. And Bruce might just crumble a bit at it

Doesn't mean they don't say it to their siblings when Bruce is out of Earshot.

"Dad said you couldn't." "What do you mean Dad said I couldn't use that mug? It's my mug!" "You snooze you lose Timmy Boy-" "Jason don't be an asshole-"

That being said Bruce says "son/daughter/child" at every available opportunity he can after he knows that they have acclimated enough that they wouldn't be uncomfortable/know they can tell Bruce that they don't want to be called that.

First time Bruce called Dick "son" in a way that meant "You are my kid" and not in a "This police officer just called me son with a brow furrow" way Dick grinned and carried on with the conversation. Later he wondered if his dad wouldn't like someone else calling him Son; but Dick thinks about the life he was given because of Bruce and thinks maybe his dad wouldn't mind.

Calling Jason "son" is a hit or miss situation, even before he died. The first time it happened he was confused, he didnt think that was the relationship they had and it made everything change for him. He got frustrated--not angry--with himself and Bruce at this sudden emotional turmoil. Wasn't he just the kid Bruce picked up in an alleyway? Wasn't he just some street rat in bright Robin clothing? (He lets himself believe that he can be Bruce's son. If for only a little while).

Tim cries after Bruce is out of earshot, it would've been a year or so after his parents died and he was adopted. He didn't think he could have been wanted like that again. Even if you think the Drake's had A+ Parenting or not, I don't think he would have gotten a lot of confirmation of being wanted otherwise.

Cass smiles, emotions carefully concealed under her expression. She's grateful she found Bruce and he doesn't mention it if she leans a bit closer in a request for closeness.

Damian doesn't expect anything less, he only appears satisfied. But also relieved that he has gotten the confirmation that yes, Bruce wants and accepts him.
