it’s going well thank you!! ive done quite a bit in the last couple of weeks by my own standards, and im looking at the last leg of chapter two now!! im quite a slow writer n will probably have to ease off soon for uni stuff, but as it stands the five chapters look like they will be about 20k each give or take a few thousand!! currently i have done about 31/32k so it’s already the longest thing ive ever written…truthfully though i think 95k is far too long so hopefully itll be reduced when i redraft it all. but yah!! having a lot of fun…chapter two is where it starts getting really fun (for me. hopefully it’s fun from chapter one for other people or we’re in trouble) i think chapter one and the start of two stressed me out a bit because there’s a lot more plot and a big ensemble cast im really not used to writing, but a lot of the major details have been established now!! and im really enjoying it...im quite happy with what im writing and im looking forward to being able to share it : ^ )

hey! ya sorry i went so mia its been a busy year. im still working on fic but its slow. from when i last updated trotw to april i was working 3 jobs, taking a full uni courseload, and writing my thesis. the thesis in particular honestly burned me out on writing really badly but i did manage to write that one oneshot

then summer was just shit honestly lol. i spent the entire summer working at a restaurant to save up money bc i had to move away in september, and the shift i had started at 6am, so i was almost never awake during my peak writing hours (11pm to 3am). i lost 30lbs in 2 months partially because i was broke and partially because my eating disorder relapsed (probably from stress lol). during that time i was only eating one meal a day in the form of my free staff lunch at work, but the restaurant where i worked was INFESTED WITH MICE :))))) so half the time i was too disgusted to eat thinking there might be rodent shit mixed into my food lol. and then on my days off i just ate like eggs and rice and zucchini bc thats what i got from the food bank. in august i started really genuinely and consciously restricting my calories down to like 500-800 cals per day, plus working on my feet as a waitress doing like 20k steps a day as a result of the malnutrition and rapid weight loss my hair started falling out in massive clumps :))) and i started sleeping for like 12 hrs a day. im eating properly now ofc tho

i moved in september for grad school and am now living in one of the most expensive cities in the world lol so i spend a lot of time just financially struggling. i have a job that will last until the end of december but its under contract so i only make like $600 a month and have to rely on my $14k school stipend and meagre savings for the rest. ive been looking for another job but i either get no interview, have the interviewer ghost me, or most recently, get told i have the job and then just never get scheduled. i have 7 cents in my checking account rn lol. my rent is paid until next month and then after that who knows whats gonna happen to me

last years output was definitely a fluke and only happened bc i was VERYYYY financially stable and could fuck around a lot at my part time job, where i wrote most of trotw. those sunny days are gone 🚬🚬 lol but i dont intend to abandon my works and i promise they will come someday. if anyone here feels like paying my rent itll come EVEN faster!!!

Basically the idea is to have a progressive tax rate based on profit per employee.

The main case for this was to reward companies that actually contribute more to the economy and heavily tax those that don't.

I think this is best explained through two examples: a bank and a supermarket chain.

(Basing these numbers off of real companies in NZ)

The supermarket has 20k employees and makes $300 million in profits. That's $15,000 in profits per employee.

The bank has 5k employees and makes $2 billion in profits. That's $300,000 per employee.

Now every dollar in profit represents exploitation. Either workers could be paid more, customers could be charged less, better conditions/benefits could be provided to workers, higher quality products/services could be provided to customers at the same price, etc.

But not every dollar is equally exploitative.

The supermarket is running on a tighter margin than the bank.

The bank can afford to pay its workers much more or provide a much better service to the community or hire more workers etc. Whereas the supermarket in reality could only afford to give its employees a raise of 15k at the very most (which is only about 35% of minimum wage in nz)

Therefore on this basis I would say the bank is more exploitative than the supermarket, and the supermarket provides a better (or at least more efficient) service to community.

So this new tax system would be designed to tax the bank more than the supermarket.

Let's say for example profits per employee under $30k is taxed at 30% and profits over that are taxed at 50%.

The supermarkets profits of $300 million (or $15k per employee) is under this threshold therefore they pay 30% taxes or $90 million.

The bank however is above the threshold. So they pay 30% on the first $150 million (5k employees multiplied by $30k threshold) which is $45 million, and then 50% on the other $1.85 billion profits, for a total tax of $947 million in taxes.

This would incentivise the bank to avoid 3rd party contractors (like cleaning staff and security) and hire those people directly in order to increase their number of employees and thus decrease the tax the pay.

GUYS the employment court in Aotearoa NZ have just ruled that Uber drivers are employees and for the first time Uber has to treat them as such!! Including minimum wage and holiday leave! This is a major decision and is gonna have implications around the world as other countries follow suit. Also very appropriate that 2 days ago was Labour Day here in NZ

it honestly depends!!! like unscripted was about 16k+ and I wrote it a little while ago but I think it took me about 2ish weeks maybe?? like writing after work during the week and on weekends and things like that but something like blush that was about 26k+ took me probably a little bit longer just bc there was more I wanted to do!! but it honestly just depends on what I want to put in the story bc fluff doesn't take alot of energy from me but something like smut does bc I have to like really be in the headspace for it and work out logistically how it could happen so idk it really varies!!!!
