There are moments when Ambrosius is surrounded by light like a little protective bubble

Batman Returns was excoriated at the time for being "too dark" - to be fair, it is exceptionally dark thematically for a 90s popcorn blockbuster - but it's also a film that features an army of penguins with rockets strapped to their back. Meanwhile we're in a timeline where studios think it would fatally compromise the Gritty Darkness of Batman if the Penguin's last name is "Cobblepot". And the resulting Batsman films are still nowhere near as dark as the movie with rocket penguins
