BITCH they had a WHOLE LOTTA NERVE to SPECIFICALLY HAVE STEVE SAY "bro, it's hard to date when nobody has shared life experience with u"
......IN THE MOVIE WHERE THE GUY WITH SO MANY SHARED LIFE EXPERIENCES SHOWS THE FUCK BACK UP. THE GUY WHO LIVED IN 1940S NY WITH HIM. THE GUY WHO SERVED IN WW2 WITH HIM. THE GUY WHO GOT THE SUPERSOLDIER SERUM LIKE HE DID. THE GUY WHO MANAGED TO STILL BE ALIVE AND LIKE THIRTY IN THE 2000S JUST LIKE STEVE. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING. WHY WERE THEY SO STUPID

There seems to be a not so secret anymore ingredient to producing the best movie of the year
(Besides handling the theme of a multiverse in a absolutely mindboggling, entertaining, mastermindlike way)
#across the spiderverse#spiderman#spiderman across the spiderverse#just walked out of this movie and holy shit#everything everywhere all at once#i thought my cinematic experience of that one couldn‘t be topped#both movies are up to par to be not just all-time favorites but also making me fall in love with cinema again#martin scorsese would be proud#not that he‘s dead#but after his comment on cinema in a marvel era#I too had given up hope#but with eeaao and the spider-verse saga I can confidently walk into cinemas and have no fear of disappointment#man incredible#I could talk forever about this movie#miles morales

Just saw Look Back in the theater. It's a perfect manga to film adaptation: integrity to both mediums, an actual reason to be adapted, and intentional and loving filmmaking as a celebration of human collaboration are all here. The music, voice acting, visual composition, backgrounds, and animation are amazing.
Even if you've already read the original, please, if you can, go see this. It's incredible.
#josie muses#look back#would be SHOCKED if this doesn't get a physical release. if you can't go to a theater get it and watch it SOMEWHERE.#great pacing. inventive and intentional shots. not just a straight panel-by-panel copy translation.#I've read the og too but this was a different experience enhanced in the specific ways animation can do it#I know it's partially because fujimoto is so. cinematic. but this team took his work and laterally moved it to film perfectly.#the emotions. the character acting. the ebb and flow of the comedy and tragedy.#dare I say... kino... a bitch be crying in the theater. makima crying in theater dot png but actually for real in earnest.#this shit is so peak#unironically will primarily call this a 'film' instead of an 'anime movie' when I talk with people about it.

mcu and mcu-adjacent writers who acknowledge sleipnir’s backstory but try to spin it so the original myth was ‘a misunderstanding’ or change it into something more palatable are fucking cowards. loki is that horse’s biological mother and if you can’t face that you don’t have what it takes
#this post brought to you by Past Topsy and the golden age of the mcu fandom circa 2014 or something#would that i could have posted this to thousands of online strangers back when it was relevant to both my interests and fandom in general#i didn’t have a platform at the time only pet peeves and correct opinions about the cowardice of authors#and i include the actual movie writers in this idc#god the mcu really used to be possibly going to be so cool do you guys remember#early mcu was one of the only things i read fanfiction for prior to 2020#not a ton but like there was a year or so there when i was still riding the high of one of my main childhood interests becoming an#entire cinematic extravanganza when i was just the right age to fully Experience The Spectacle but still hadn’t developed critical thought#and even then i apparently already had SOME standards bc i developed this extremely niche pet peeve somehow#mumbling

The whole thing about theater kids singing out loud in a movie theater to the Wicked movie and getting mad about people criticizing them about it is just so telling about where people are mentally these days.
Them telling people to ' just stream it' and openly having no basic respect for the audience and the performers is such an ironic response for a theater kid to have.
There's literally going to be a sing-along event that is happening on Christmas so just wait until then stop disrespecting other people and basic movie etiquette. It's not hard.
It's not about ' not letting people have their fun' it's about being a basically good and thoughtful human being.
It's not about you.
#wicked 2024#personally I go to the movie theater to enjoy the cinematic experience and watch the performers#I don't really care about whether or not you know the song#lots of people do it's not special#yeah I know Cynthia and Ariana can't hear you but would you do when watching a Broadway show?#didn't think so#maybe YOU should just stream it in your personal living room so that you don't bother other people when you start bursting out into song#when literally no one asked you to#I came here to listen to the cast sing not you

alright im giving in im finally asking. what in the everloving fuck is narines
HIIIII HELENA honestly I'm so glad you asked I think you'd love them but BASICALLYYYYY one of my mutuals, hella, @tbos-main, has this really cool original fantasy wip, the blood of serpents, which I am OBSESSED with so I do fandom post about it like any other media, and two of the characters are nate and rin. well. naithairan and herines technically but I'm on nickname basis with them. and I can explain tbos in more detail but since you asked about narines specifically, they are two characters who are very much on opposing sides of the central conflict and in a way that IS irreconcilable like. it has to be genuine all consuming hate it's bad. but they're also narrative foils and parallels and whatnot and outside of the main ideological difference in regards to the central conflict, they are very similar people in a very fucked up way, they're both martyr figures with a lot of religious themes, they both have had to learn the language of violence well, they both are willing to go to unfathomably low depths of morality and monstrousness in the pursuit of protecting the people they love, they're both incredibly calculating and callous, and so they have this INSANEEE dynamic that is very much "I see me in you I see everything I hate about myself in you I need to kill you because I need to be killed but yet I cannot kill you because that would be like taking a knife to myself and we recognize each other deeply and intimately in a very specific way no one else can and I HATEE you for it" and so like. they should fuck about that. obviously.
#and they are NOT CANON I SHOULD WARN. IT STARTED AS A JOKE BECAUSE THEY ARE SO INCOMPATIBLE AS A GENUINE SHIP#CANNOT BE IN THE SAME ROOM AS EACH OTHER.#but the GREATTT thing about their homoeroticism is that violence is like. chill to both of them#like they're both trying to hurt each other as much as possible they're trying to break each other#but neither of them is greatly affected by violence. so the way they choose to break each other instead#is that very occasionally in these homoerotic and non canon scenes#there will be a touch of gentleness. there's a scene where nate bites rin HARD and draws blood but he kisses first#and rin FREAKS out he's like “don't you DARE.”#and then the vivisection. where rin literally unironically gently talks nate through having a HAND DIGGING IN HIS GUTS🫶#many such cases#and that touch of gentleness is too much from the worst person on earth who you hate so much#and it's worse than violence to them it's worse than violence to experience that from each other#which is just. SO INTERESTING THEY ARE SO INTERESTINGGGG#I'm assuming you mostly asked this though cause of my tags on that post I rbed from you#so as for THAT#hella has a bit of saying she hates this ship so much and one time#she said basically “dark tbosmaucu is the only universe where narines absolutely couldn't happen thank god”#and then later at some point basically jokingly said it's cause they're medicated in that one#(medicated as in. nate self medicates. with hard drugs.)#and dark tbosmaucu btw is the acronym for “dark the blood of serpents modern au cinematic universe”#cinematic universe both because that's always a funny joke and because we do genuinely have like 6 or 7 versions of tbos modern aus#and the dark one is just basically modern au but you go really ham on the tragic backstory like aftg levels of what the actual fuck#which theoretically should bring the levels of trauma in the modern au the closest to how they exist in canon#and yet. hella shut down narines in that universe😔#anywayyyy. sorry I leave incomprehensible tags on your posts do you still think I'm hot😘#ask#miseria-fortes-virios#hi helena!

Genuinely feel you can learn a lot about editing a story well by watching both the Lord of the Rings trilogy theatrical releases and the extended versions (if you know, you have several days of free time with which to spend carefully watching movies nonstop hahaha). Almost never did I think the things they cut were a bad idea to leave out. Watching them with the extra scenes added in often either threw off the pacing or tone of the story too much for me (eg. some of the stuff they cut out of the Shire scenes and the Council of Elrond scenes), went a little overboard on the campiness or overacting in a scene to the point it felt in poorer taste or a bit too unsubtle compared to the rest of the film (eg. those first scenes of Boromir and Faramir with their dad, the Mouth of Sauron scene), or were just plain repetitive and redundant character moments that became much more impactful when edited out to leave a single scene that did a better job getting the same point across. It's all useful writing advice stuff I would most definitely keep in mind if ever writing a story and then going back over it a second time to better polish it up.
#and I know some lotr fans might disagree about this because they want things from the books to have been included#but as someone who hasnt read the trilogy yet this is my take purely from a cinematic experience/storytelling pov#lotr#writing#movies#p

Miss when we just point blank called a film misogynistic instead of just slapping the term "the male gaze" on something. Like it's either always used poorly, or it used to work around and soften the "blow" of calling something misogynistic and voyeuristic.
#like something about choosing to use that instead of just calling it what it is#really dilutes the conversation to me#its also so interesting to me the way its use in filmography has changed into a synonym for cinematic misogyny#when its more so a term to encompass the perspective of how cinema itself has been crafted around the experiences and view points of men#down to the way cameras themselves work and how we often use them to frame things on top of the intent OF the frame itself#like its about patriatchy inherit to cinema and not exactly moments of scripted misogyny

Is Bryce wasn’t such an old lady confused by the internet and modern queer culture (and tbh queerness as a concept) I definitely think she’d be a xenogender woman
Like she’d probably have a small heart, villain/evil and demon gender hoard if she knew what a xenogender was lol
#or maybe I’m just projecting#but I feel like she has a very xenic experience with her gender#she just ignores it and simplifies it down to just Woman#one day#one day Bobby is going to infodump on her about xenogenders and convince her to start identifying with a few#brandon rogers#brandon rogers cinematic universe#brcu#bryce tankthrust#brandon rogers bryce tankthrust#🪲
