I just realized the main characters of KOTLC have to be, like, teen celebrities of a sort at Foxfire.

I’m rereading stellarlune rn and got to that one part where Jensi is like “hi, can I sit here? Is that okay? I feel like I just interrupted a ‘how to save the world this time’ conversation” and then Dex is like “yeah that’s exactly what we were talking about actually but you can sit here anyway!” So then Jensi just sits with them and they proceed to talk about troll treaties and caches and Marella’s pyrokinesis training like everything they’re saying is totally normal and he’s just sort of there.

And that gave me this weird sense that while it doesn’t get acknowledged a lot in the series because Sophie isn’t hyper-aware of the other teens (she has so much of her own drama to worry about ON TOP of having to be the hero every book) her friend group is, like, so weird and important.

Like, they’re just sitting at lunch at school, talking about Elvin politics and classified secrets that councilors erased from their brains and how Marella bribed an ancient pyrokinetic with an evil history into revealing one such secret. And meanwhile all the other kids are at lunch like “haha, so what’s up with you and him huh? Yeah lol. Oh yeah and that table over there, that’s where they talk about saving the world and a bunch of information that isn’t revealed to the public bc they only know it bc they’re going to use it to save us all and stop a war lol. They’re so weird haha. Anyway what was I saying?”

Just casually a whole lunchroom of lots of friend groups talking and everyone just casually accepts that there’s that one table in the corner where the famous kids talk about Elvin secrets and illegal or classified stuff and saving the universe. Like yeah ok that’s normal now.

I think about it every day: if kokichi were in sdr2 or if nagito were in v3, they would have such a disastrous time trying to one-up each other's plans. Or nagito would volunteer to act as a stepping stone for kokichi bc of seeing his hope.

To me it seems like kokichi's "hope" - not only to end the killing game and the suffering of all, but also to obtain the ultimate victory over the mastermind - would be just perfect by nagito's standards, because nagito is always about hope triumphing over despair, right? They both wanna win.

and when nagito wanted to change course bc of knowing about the remnants of despair, kokichi could just do his lie speech and make nagito see how truth could bring despair. But nagito won't give up easily, so just like kodaka said in this tweet, the two would probably end up having a fight over who gets to end the killing game properly.

the two being so similar in their somewhat self-deprecating belief of needing to play a self-sacrificing role, kokichi could probably guess what nagito is going to do. he would be smart enough to stall nagito on his suicidal path, if only bc kokichi despises killing & the ultimate luck should make things more fun.

he would manipulate or rope nagito into helping with his own plan - if they put their heads together I'm sure they could create a perfect crime - but then nagito would be too smart to fall under his influence, so 100% try to sabotage that plan as well; besides, nagito wants to be the ultimate hope and he couldn't possibly pass that opportunity onto kokichi.

So in the end they'll probably just prevent each other from dying tragically while having the biggest battle of wits that over time just evolves into more and more convoluted, batshit crazy "make each other survive" schemes. It's a thought that amuses and comforts me.

Cursed Life You start with anywhere between 20 - 30 hours; above 20 is green, above 10 is yellow, and above 0 is red. Killing rules of limited life. However, the fun part is that the boogeyman works like a game of hot potato. The victim is transferred the curse. However to, counteract keeping track of the boogey, death messages do not specify victim or perpetrator. Whoever has boogey at the end of the session only loses 3 hours.

I almost want a full book about Aeolus. If we could get a five page book series about Apollo, surely we can get a series about Aeolus. Someone needs to make it. A comedic series about Aeolus, a man driven completely mad because he tried to please all the gods. His insane moods would make for a killer book.

If we think Leo Valdez or Percy Jackson are funny, imagine a book written from the perspective of a man who's so unstable that his mind is constantly going a mile a minute. A man who rambles and rambles and rambles and rambles. If you read Aeolus's section in the Lost Hero, you know that he's so fun that he's definitely worthy of his own book. Now if only I could picture what said book series would be about…

two silly thoughts from me still thinking too much about UA teaching logistics:

1. I think given all might's time limit at the beginning of the series, they really can't have given him a homeroom class to look after - but I do think it would be very funny if nedzu did it anyway. yeah I know you're just here for OFA purposes and that you can only be in hero form for like 3 hours per day, but you do have to spend like 15 minutes of that looking after 20 random wide-eyed business course kids. no slackers allowed

2. each year presumably has the same class structure as what we see for class a's year - 2 hero classes and 1 of each of the others - [ETA: oops no they don't, it's apparently 2 hero classes and THREE of each of the others??? consider this now a non-canon-compliant joke:] but it seems at least vaguely plausible that the additional hero class is a more recent addition brought on either by hero commission pressure to churn out more heroes per year, or - funnier option - as a counterbalance for the fact that aizawa is expelling like 50% of the hero course anyway, so you have to start out with a bigger pool

parker yang malevolent and matt woe.begone are the same, in a way.

they're doomed to die before the story has even started. their existence (and their loss) impacts the protagonists to the point that both are, arguably, the catalyst for the events of both narratives.

we talk about how the main characters never stood a chance and forget about why!!! because it isn't about arthur or mike!!! the story happens because they lost people they cared about.

matt's death was a freak accident, and it doesn't even matter that matt is alive, now. he was dead and it wasn't mike's fault but then he saved him and now he has to keep saving him!!! he can't lose him again!!!) matt slid the gun across the table to mike and he kept existing even when base disappeared and it's danger all the way down but he keeps getting involved despite it all.

and parker's was, of course, far more intentional, but (situation with john aside) arthur is arguably still chasing a way to rid himself of that guilt/responsibility. he could've given up and gone to prison for the rest of his life but he trusted parker's killer instead. (maybe in the hopes that things could be fixed, eventually.)

it's sacrifice whether or not it was ever meant to be. it's parker and matt being sheep to the slaughter, whether by being resolved to the result of their partner's impulsive actions or by seeing everything they know about the world change and accepting death to keep them alive.

arthur and mike have always done everything they can to right their wrongs, even when their friend has been dead for months now or was maybe never dead at all. parker and matt are the same and arthur and mike's stories will always start with their end!!!
