the lunar chronicles series needs so much more love.
the world? one of the most immersive worlds I’ve ever experienced, and fun but serious.
the characters? likable and distinct and heroic and complex, with deep trauma and moral dilemmas that make them feel like real people.
the concept? unique and epic and cinematic but classic.
the romance? nearly every type there is, a slow burn star-crossed lovers, an enemies to lovers, a childhood best friends to lovers and rapunzel and flynn vibes.
the plot? complex and extremely well thought out, yet easy to understand, original and so addicting.
fractured fairytale dystopian fantasy sci-fi on futuristic earth and the moon with secret princess trope and princes and evil queens who can control minds? cinderella and red riding hood and rapunzel and snow white? I WILL TAKE IT THANK YOU.
there’s literally something for everyone, and no one could say it isn’t well written.
why this series is not hyped up more is beyond me.

Gaea has been defeated by the seven. And Iapetus gave up his life fighting Tartarus. But the web of fate is not done with him yet. Oh, no. The web of fate is just getting started…
Kind of like in the Trials of Apollo, Iapetus reincarnates as a mortal. A mortals named Bob, naturally. Little Bob is still alive and with him, though. Mostly just because they're too cute to kill off. But anyway, Iapetus is back. He doesn't know why, but as the book goes along we all begin to learn precisely why. Unlike the Trials of Apollo, which downgraded us from Gaea (mother earth herself!) to some boring roman emperors which history can't even certifiably prove were evil, the Trials of Iapetus will have a big villian. It's Ouranous/Uranus.
You see, Gaea's defeat sent shockwaves through the cosmos. A primordial deity defeated!? It's unheard of! But she was defeated . And so was Tartarus, her vile second husband. Two primordial beings were defeated in one quest. It unbalanced the cosmos. With them defeated, strange things began happening. And one of those strange things involved Ouranous. After millenia in a death like state, he has begun reforming.
And make no mistake, he is angry. His wife killed him, and all of his sons (with the exception of Oceanus) helped chop him into little pieces. These demigods have denied him his revenge (Kronos and Gaea and Tartarus have all already faced punishment), but Ouranous requires vengeance! He has lost his sanity, and he is a being who lives only for revenge now. He cares nothing for dying again. If he dies destroying earth, he will be happy. He will crush Gaea, consequences be damned!
And nothing can stand up to Ouranous but the combined might of everything. Mortals, Gods, Titans and Primordials. And it is now Iapetus's burden to bear. This book series would show us Iapetus reuniting with his wife and four kids, Iapetus reuniting with Nico and Percy and all the other demigods who showed him kindness, and Iapetus walking amongst mortals (all of whom carry his spark within them).
The Trials of Iapetus would present a clear, happy and definitive end to Rick Riordan's world of greek mythology. But it would also show us as many gods and titans and primordials as possible within a five book span. The big one who i'd save for the final book in the series would be Chaos. Chaos, the first being to ever exist. The essence of nothingness. Before light, before dark, before earth and before sky, there was chaos. His form is unknowable even to the Titans and the Gods. None may gaze upon Chaos without losing their sense of self. But he is the oldest thing in existence, and an appeal to him may be the last chance anyone has for defeating Ouranous…
But to get a being like Chaos's attention, you'd need to wake him. Before him, nothing existed. He is literally the oldest being ever. He was last awake when the first titans were born. Confident in his children's capabilities, Chaos let himself drift into sleep. It's been millenia since then, and he has never once woken up. To wake up him now would require a summons from everyone on the planet; be they god, mortal, primordial or titan. So the main goal of the Trials of Iapetus is to wake Chaos from his slumber. And in so doing, perhaps a lasting peace can finally be reached between the gods and the titans.

My opinions for Riordan verse books that no one asked for but will provide anyways
WARNING THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE SO IN THE WORDS OF SCAR 'BE PREPARED'
・Three book long series, first with Luke running away until he finds Thalia, second after they find Annabeth and their travels, third after Thalia dies and their time at camp before Percy, all from Luke's pov, we get more insight on his backstory and how he felt throughout everything outside of Percy's pjo which is where we saw everything. Also maybe we could get some Thalia x Luke before the betrayal..?
・A five book long series with a crossover with mcaga, tkc and pjo/hoo/toa, we already know their are some problems rising and I think some of the interaction (eg. Alex with Nico and Will with Magnus) could be really interesting to see. Also I feel like there could be something involving bringing Jason back as his death felt really unnecessary and sort of... Idk unfinished or something. Another idea I had for this was after maybe the first one or two books Percy in a way becomes Luke, trying to reach him in any way and carrying out his plan of overthrowing the gods however this time not with the help or Kronos but just trying to convince the other demigods to join him and a kind of descent to madness with him being tired of getting used.
・A standalone book, sort of like tsats except it's about Jason's life with Lupa and his time at Camp Jupiter, maybe just a short story but I feel like it could be good.
・Similar to the previous, a story about Reyna and her life before HoO, maybe a split pov with her and her sister because I feel like that story has a lot of potential.
・A book about Leo, set around the same time as tsats, maybe something to do with his dad or with the waystation, probably involving Calypso, Piper and Reyna (maybe him and Cal getting more development (OR A BREAK UP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF APOLLO) and kind of fleshing her out because right now she doesn't have much character imo) maybe he could also try to convince Hazel or Nico (probably Hazel because I feel like he doesn't have enough development with Nico to play this out) to let him see Jason again and him trying to join him.
・A bunch of short stories (like 10ish pages each length) of Rachel's experiences being the Oreacal and just what it's like, maybe also giving her some development with other characters (maybe Nico with them bonding on feeling out of place) and also some story with her family and how her life is.
・A collection of short stories which is basically just fluff because we don't get enough of that (Solangelo, Fierrochase, Percabeth, etc.)
・ Another short story (I'm sorry I warned you) with Annabeth right after the war, about her being mad at Luke, upset about his death, still caring about him and her getting a visit from Hermes, maybe expecting sympathy but just getting blamed for his death, also maybe a flashback of Luke asking her to leave in a nightmare.
・A book just with everyone's reaction to Jason death because I hate myself, not just in the moment but like a few weeks after and what they did and stuff (Leo, Piper, Frank, Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, Reyna, Nico)
・A collection of short stories about minor characters (Kayla, Austin, Connor, Travis, Clarisse, Lavinia, and just like under appreciated characters)
・A book with Reyna and Thalia split pov about them being in the Hunt and maybe a mission and Reyna could find out more about Bianca stuff. They could also maybe secretly get together but keep it hidden to stay in the hunt (or they leave the hunt and join the Amazons with Hylla (Reyna's sister) and they kind of start to bond) Also Hazel could be brought up because she technically stole from them.
・A short story with Nico and Bianca's life in the 1930s/when they're in the Lotus Casino, how they felt, what their life was like, etc.
Obviously a bunch of these short stories would be in one book, comment your suggestions xx
UPDATE BECAUSE I COMPLETELY FORGOT
・a book on Alabaster, his time at camp, maybe him meeting Nico in the time between pjo and hoo cuz that would be cool, what he does after Son of Magic, interactions (maybe relationship...?) with Ethan. Also just like a whole three book series about him and he could be in that cross over book (second idea), maybe as a villain or someone who helps Percy when he wants to overrule the gods
・A book on Ethan, just what his life's been like, maybe something like the diary of Luke Castellen
・this one would probably be part of another book/story/series but Grover going sort of insane, maybe possessed by Gaia (because let's be honest the fight was a bit anticlimactic, hoo is probably still my favorite series but that ending was kinda meh after all the build up, I think something that would have made it more dramatic would have been Percy not letting everyone else take control (his fatal flaw is personal loyalty) then when Leo dies (which was his plan anyways) he blames himself for it because he thought if he'd listened and stayed aside he would have lived anyways that was off topic) because he doesn't like how nature's getting ruined and it's a 1v1 fight with him and Percy and he would try to talk him out of it because he doesn't want to fight his best friend but ya know he's been possessed and can't tell it's his best friend so Percy ends up surrendering (maybe dying but that seems like a bad story choice because he's the main character and that would be a bad choice logically because you would have to bring him back (if they were to do that then it could be like the Orpheus and Eurydice story except Annabeth has to do a bunch of tasks for Hades and Nico's begging him to make it easy for her and her pride makes her think she can save them all (Luke, Jason Bianca, Ethan, Selina, Beckendorf etc.) and ends up saving none of them the Nico and Hazel have to bargain with Persephone and Hades to let Percy come back) which then after Grover gets released but it's before Percy comes back so he has to live with that guilt but at the same time he still hates humans for destroying nature and (this is a bit out there hold on) he becomes the I guess new Pan and is protecting nature. (This would also probably be a part of the second idea (again) but before Percy wants to overthrow Zeus so that he has the power of a God on his hands)

duology idea that i wish i had the skills to write:
murder mystery with a main girl who’s trying to solve the mystery pippa fitz-amobi style. she ends up joining forces with a boy and they work together brilliantly and they’re also given all the typical romance tropes to set up their supposed romance… except everything is just slightly off. not enough to be super noticeable but enough to feel itchy.
the first book ends with the reveal to the reader that the boy is the killer.
the second book continues to follow our pip character and the boy/killer but things are getting more obviously off to everyone, including our main girl and she begins to get suspicious. she ends up secretly joining forces with our main suspect of the first book, a girl who seems to be hiding something. turns out, she is hiding something, she knows our boy more than either of them let on, and it’s finally revealed to our main girl that the boy is the killer.
the book then becomes a difficult balance of hiding the fact that she knows the boy is the killer and continuing to keep the pretense of working with him and working with the other girl to take the boy down. and now all the romance tropes are between the two girls.
#both girls have to survive because the gays need happy endings#but yeah give me a sapphic murder mystery with good plot twists#the boy needs to feel like jd from heathers but like better at hiding how psychotic he is#if you’re a writer please write this for me#murder mystery#sapphic murder mystery#sapphic#lesbians#novel idea#duology idea#murder mystery idea#mystery idea#book idea#book ideas#writing prompt#writing prompts

The Trials of Bob/Iapetus. That could've been a story, honestly. I just thought of that at school four days ago. If Apollo got a story about being reborn or punished or whatever as a mortal, why not Iapetus? He actually died, so him being reborn makes some sense. Also, Iapetus was apparently the Titan who represented humanity, something I learned from his wikipedia page. To quote wikipedia now: "Hesiod and other Greek scholars regarded the sons of Iapetus as mankind's ancestors and as such, some of humanity's worst qualities were said to have been inherited from these four. For instance, sly and clever Prometheus could perhaps represent crafty scheming; the inept and guileless Epimetheus, foolish stupidity; the enduring, strongest and powerful Atlas, excessive daring; and the arrogant Menoetius, rash violence."
With all that going for him, we could have made a compelling series about Iapetus being reincarnated on earth. Maybe have the enemy be a slowly waking Ouranous/Uranus, angry at the titans and gaea for killing him, and who wants to take it out on earth by destroying humanity. I have to admit: I think I'd like this idea more than the Trials of Apollo (no offense to those books, but Jason's death makes them unreadable after a certain point). It feels more like the logical next step after the series about Gaea. Titans, then Giants and Gaea, then Ouranous. It's the logical follow-up. I insist on that. So now I just wish this had been a real series...
