"If I ever do anything to upset you, please just let me know! I can't fix what I don't realize is happening!"
"^w^ Oh of course! I'm sure it won't be any trouble though!"
[...]
":/ Hey so everyone's been talking and we agree you're really insufferable and we don't want you around anymore. Here's a long list of things we've never mentioned having a problem with until right now. Anyway goodbye forever."
"Cool so this is literally exactly the kind of thing I was talking about but thanks for being jackasses incapable of communicating literally at all. 👍"
Also always fun:
"I shouldn't have to explain to you what I found rude, you should know." Cool. Even if it was true that I should, I don't know! So that "should" isn't really irrelevant, is it. Also have you considered that your experiences are not universal actually and what some people consider friendly is deeply offensive to others and vice versa and that expecting everyone to read your mind about your own personal culture and experiences and preferences helps literally no one?
"Maybe you should actually think about what you say." Funny story, I overthink everything at all times. I constantly delete over half of what I type and rewrite the rest numerous times to try to be as gentle as possible while still conveying my own feelings even a tiny bit and apparently even that's too much for people. I go non-verbal under stress in part because I'm terrified of saying anything wrong; unlike typing, I only get one chance to say it, most people won't let you say "no, that's not what I meant." Clearly anything you say mid-meltdown is eternally binding and the truest reflection of everything about you.
And many more.
Every one of these has happened numerous times. But you know. Autistics are bad at communication. For... -checks notes-... wanting it to be clear, direct, and specific. Idk man I feel like maybe being allergic to just speaking openly even when directly requested isn't exactly the pinnacle of communication skill either but who knows.
a bottom-tier autistic experience is being told throughout your entire childhood that you are just an overthinker when it comes to social situations and later finding out that your friends did, in fact, hate being around you and tried to communicate that through weird little hints

[“Fear mongering about sex is a very effective political strategy, whether it’s perpetuating the myths that porn warps our minds, that kinky people have no boundaries, or that queer adults groom children by simply existing.
Despite the risky controversy she’s courting, [Andrea] Chu needs us to know that arousal can show us what is possible. She celebrates bimboism as affirming in its very artificiality: “From the perspective of gender, then, we’re all dumb blondes.” In her book, Chu describes the kind of porn that gave her “a neat allegory for my desire to be female.” Her tastes gravitated to amateur Tumblr posts where images of women were reappropriated with the fantasy that they were former men who had been sissified by cisgender women, much like my cross-dressing clients. Porn that stars actual trans people has long existed. So has cross-dressing erotica. But it was the specific kind of second-person address content, popularized in the online videos produced by sex workers and sold through digital clip stores, that inspired Chu. This porn doesn’t just depict forced feminization; it claims to have the power to actively force feminize.
Obviously, many people have been turned on by sissy porn and not transitioned. This is the fallacy at the heart of most anti-porn arguments: one person’s reaction to an image is made to stand in for the entire medium and the entire audience. Moreover, if porn can help someone get in touch with something true about themselves, then it’s doing the best thing any art, no matter how crude, can do: use fiction to help us know ourselves better, and to make us feel less alone. Porn, in all its offensive reflections of our throbbing collective id, can teach us a lot about ourselves precisely by being so extra, with its extreme secondary sexual characteristics, extreme gaping, extreme squirting, extremely stamina-challenging intercourse positions.
A lot of people read porn very literally, and interpret its meaning when they’re not turned on, which (to continue with my WWE comparison) is like going to a wrestling match and screaming for help because it appears to you that someone is being attacked. Fantasies, whether conjured in the throes of horniness or in a drag performance, are simultaneously delightful and insulting; oftentimes this comes down to not only point of view but mood. Like all forms of entertainment, porn often both depicts and contributes to harmful stereotypes. But it’s a mistake to believe that porn is somehow more culpable than rom-coms, action-adventure, billboard advertising, children’s toys, self-help newsletters, lifestyle brands, or social media influencers in perpetuating burdensome gender norms. Scapegoating porn is not going to solve the problems of social oppression; in fact, embracing the importance of erotic art of all kinds in society can help us to better understand our true nature.”]

Brown Eyes - Lisa Manoban
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing. spiderwoman!lisa x girlfriend!reader
synopsis. after a long night of fighting crime, spider-woman Lisa always finds her way back to Y/n, the one person who makes her feel grounded.
The city skyline shimmered under the moonlight as you stood on your apartment balcony, sipping on a warm cup of tea. The air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of rain from earlier. It was a quiet night—or at least, it had been.
A sudden gust of wind and the soft thwip of webbing alerted you to the presence of none other than your favorite visitor. Before you could react, a familiar red-and-black figure swung gracefully onto your balcony railing, crouching like a cat about to pounce.
“Miss me?” Lisa, or rather, Spider-Woman, grinned beneath her mask, her voice laced with playful confidence.
You rolled your eyes, setting your cup down. “You literally saw me this morning.”
Lisa pulled off her mask, shaking out her slightly tousled hair. “Yeah, but the night makes everything more romantic,” she teased, hopping down onto the balcony floor. “And I wanted to see my favorite person before heading out again.”
You folded your arms, giving her an unimpressed look. “Uh-huh. And this visit has nothing to do with you wanting my leftover cookies?”
Lisa gasped dramatically. “Y/n, how could you accuse me of such betrayal?” She placed a hand over her chest as if deeply wounded, then smirked. “But since you mentioned cookies…”
Laughing, you took her hand and pulled her inside. “Come on, hero. I’ll get you some.”
As you went to the kitchen, Lisa followed closely, wrapping her arms around your waist from behind. “Mmm, you smell nice,” she murmured against your shoulder, swaying slightly with you.
You giggled. “Spider-women aren’t supposed to be this clingy, you know.”
“Says who?” Lisa lifted her head, her lips brushing against your ear. “Maybe I fight crime all day just so I can come home and be your problem instead.”
Your heart fluttered at her words, but you played it cool. “Oh, great. So I’m just your post-patrol cuddle buddy now?”
“Exactly,” Lisa hummed, spinning you around so she could look into your eyes. “And you love it.”
You pretended to think for a moment. “Hmm. I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world…”
Lisa gasped, feigning offense. “Not the worst? Y/n, I risk my life fighting bad guys, swinging from skyscrapers, dodging explosions—and this is the thanks I get?”
You bit your lip to hide your smile, then reached up to cup her face gently. “Thank you for always coming back to me.”
Lisa’s playful expression softened. She leaned into your touch, her brown eyes warm with something deeper. “I always will.”
The moment stretched between you, the city noise fading into the background. Then, Lisa’s gaze flickered to your lips.
“Can I kiss you?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Your breath caught. “You better.”
Lisa grinned before closing the distance, her lips capturing yours in a slow, tender kiss. Her hands rested on your waist, holding you close, as if anchoring herself to you.
When she pulled away, her forehead rested against yours. “Y’know,” she murmured, “I think I like being tangled up with you.”
You laughed softly, your fingers playing with the hem of her suit. “Good. Because you’re stuck with me now, Spider-Woman.”
Lisa grinned, pulling you back in for another kiss. “Best webbing I’ve ever gotten caught in.”

wanting to visit the archives without looking like a fanatic bc nobody likes posting government documents online apparently
#this is why i hate politics people do shit without proof all the time#and they do it from the both sides so even if i hate one i have to look at the other one and be like please get some proof just because the#are known liars does not put you in a pure truth position simply by disagreeing with them and i really need to like you#so i have to dig for the information myself bc i am done jumping to conclusions after watching reels and then jumping to news articles#created either after the reel or by some random sentence somebody said and then it gets picked up by bigger news outlets#bc NOBODY FACT CHECKS ANYMORE its all abt speed first ig#so i have to check credentials i am not blind hating and fearing anymore#like my dad said information is the most valuable thing rn and the problem is when the government hides it#also get your party out of the protests<3#it is made by the citizens to fight injustice not to put you in charge you have to work on that yourself not by simply being -the others-#bc that is how we got into this mess in the first place#and it discredits the people's concerns so much bc now it's party moves and not citizen unhappiness with the system#which is a story they could not have spun if they did not get involved so clearly i mean dude#will not even going to get into the fucking embarrassing kind of gaslighting the government is doing#they are literally looking at photos and saying nuh uh when faced with bullet proof evidence and then bullshitting#which is so offensive bc at least fucking care enough to lie well but they know they can say the sky is green and they will still stay in#power so why give a fuck i guess#0 notes to me#i am sorry for the rant#i just have to let this off my chest somewhere

Absolutely love that folks who hate Adam come up with the same arguments damn near word for word
1. He's a cringe edgelord (subjective and not inheritely a bad thing??)
2. He's violent (in a combat heavy cartoon)
3. He's a reverse racist (when he literally is branded with his oppressor's company initials)
4. He's a domestic abuser (when he's written by a company who think it's funny to stalk random women on the street from their cars)

Every time I go to work and get blatantly disrespected and have my salary and job security threatened by arbitrary rules that punish me for factors that are beyond my control an evil part of me wants to threaten to quit mid work day and never go back. Would love to see them try to lob $0.50/hr off my paycheck after that.

I just had a "conversation" (I use that word VERY lightly) with my mom about fatphobia that can be boiled down to:
Me (fat): "I feel bad for my friend (also fat) because no matter how much she diets & exercises (which is a lot) she's never gonna look like how she wants to look (skinny) because she's not built like that. It sucks that society demonizes fat people & prioritizes weight over health & that the healthiest person I know (friend) believes she's worthless"
Mom (fat as well and also fatphobic): "so you think that if I went to the doctor right now they'd tell me I was healthy?" (huh??????)

just read a take about how 58-34-88 should play together in the playoffs bc we’ve had a baffling lack of offense without them, and i’d just like to say........... that is incorrect
#FLKJSDKLF. sorry i need to rant but like. they went stale so we moved lines and then ppl go injured and we've#been ever-shifting since then.#barely any constants..#with the trade deadline and random injuries.... keefe let 16 and 34 play together for 5 mins and they dominated n then switched to#58-34-19 and they got great chances but didnt capitalize for multiple games in a row.. then guess what happened when he switched them back#and stacked the top 2 lines w ror on the second..#idk how u look at the last 2 games and say we have no offense lmfao#esp considering tonight we were playing someone desperate for a spot with an extremely hot goaltender and we had multiple great#scoring chances..... like yeah it wasnt pretty but LOL we were playing 11/7 with#random forwards dropping like flies and a new guy#also. the times weve seen 16 with 91 in the past couple weeks havent been great or giving the spark they hoped lol#whether it was 91-90-16 or 88-91-16 or whatever the fuck like#we need to go with the stacked top 2 lines and keep ror up there honestly. we're getting our chances#i think its stupid to act like we've been struggling lately after a back to back win like this LKFJDSKLFJ#why does everyone hate 58-34-16 in the playoffs so bad like what is the problem..#its literally not the cores fault they lost last yr at all.. they didnt get 'smothered' like everyone implied lmfao#it was bad luck and bad defending/goaltending as a whole like get it together.#EVERYTHING cant be a problem#ANYWAY.. IM OVER THAT NARRATIVE.. FUCK U. im having fun#(and scene.)

I have been wearing my altered jeans at work for like two months without a single word from management - and, in point of fact, with numerous compliments from customers, coworkers, and supervisors - but apparently I’m not allowed to anymore? because I guess yesterday someone from corporate saw them and told my manager they weren’t acceptable for work? my trousers have to be a single solid colour (specifically black or dark blue). I need outta this place so bad lmao

i feel like a good majority of what i could possibly say about this has already said, but i can’t resist chiming in anyway. i think using some of these terms as some sort of integrated part of a synopsis doesn’t really bother me. like i’ve certainly found a lot of my favorite fanfic tropes work their way into my writing somehow, that’s just the nature of influence & inspiration. this isn’t bad, tropes are tropes and they can sell books, i just think the delivery of it is what matters most. what’s so infuriating about it is in fact the corporate feeling that it’s just a marketing tactic, whether the story was built solely around some tropes or not, this is all a horrible product of corporations realizing and recognizing fandom, for the worst in most ways.
hypothetically if i came across an author on booktok who said “follow the lives of A and B as their tumultuous business rivalry turns to a tense friendship. A, owning a coffee shop adjacent to the cafe that B runs, finds themself caught up in a complicated web of emotion upon having to move in with the last person they would have expected. occupying the same space together proves difficult, both A and B finding it nearly impossible to avoid each other. as both businesses threaten to go under, nothing can possibly get in the way of focusing on what truly matters. watch as A and B teeter on the fence between love and hate as they each fight to out-pace the other, no matter the circumstance” i would find it more intriguing than an author saying do you like friends to lovers? and then they’re roomates? and it’s a coffee shop business rivals slowburn?? then golly this book is for you!!” at this point darling you told me nothing hooked me on something i could get from ao3, FFnet, etc and SOMEHOW i do feel you spoiled the drama along the way. a lot of readers will likely react this way. listing tropes gets interest from those who know them, like them, would want to read them, but where’s the rest of the incentive to actually engage with your story instead of just going and finding a fanfic that delivers more information than what you’re giving.
i think “get creative with it” will always trump “don’t use it at all” at least if you ask me. however we aren’t talking about placing sleeper codes for potential audiences, this fandom focus were starting to see in entertainment as a whole is some deliberate advertisement and marketing. of course it has a hollow feeling to it, of course it feels like the story itself is always id coming second to the getting-you-to-read-it bullshit. authorship as a whole has been warped by ideas of target audiences, marketable ideas, originality and uniqueness, all taking massive priority over engaging storytelling.
id ask what the actual fuck happened to the idea of promoting a work as a whole, or it’s starting point, or it’s general summary, just something not standing as disjointed boiled down phrases- if i did not already feel the answer. it’s an unsurprising one.
capitalism values creation as product and profit. never as a process, never as an act of passion but as means for monetary gain. marketing on listing tropes screams “we only care about the concept of industry entertainment and easy attention grabbing here, nothing of substance to see unless you buy the book to find out if any of these tropes are well executed at all, and the less you know before buying the more we hope that makes you buy anyway”. this shit thrives even more with rampant consumption, all of it ends up so short lived because they need readers to move on to the next idea as quickly as the last one fades.
tldr: if anyone- reader or publisher- ever asks me to summarize my work with fanfic tropes, i am hexing them and cursing their bloodline.
Sorry it’s early but you really can’t use fanfiction terms in a non fanfiction context like if someone is trying to sell me a book to read and they tell me there’s an enemy to lovers I would be annoyed because why are you spoiling the story lol
#tauto talks#for the life of me i’m not making up characters with substance to give examples of how tropes can be weeded into stuff#not in the way it feels you are advertising solely on the concept of tropes but instead…. advertising your work…#trying to hook a reader that enjoys enemies to lovers doesn’t feel like an offense until you’re literally only going ‘its enemies to lovers’#WHO are they WHATS happening in at least the beginning of the story and WHY are they enemies anyway#WHAT circumstances happen that changes the relationship and HOW do they deal with this#not to go who/what/when/where/why on this but readers tend to have very basic questions of interest they need answered before they want to#engage with a work#listing tropes answers a lot of what happens but almost nothing else#whats the point of just listing tropes unless you literally constructed the whole story around JUST the tropes#it isn’t even that hard to repackage shit if that’s the case even. literally just know people want information and not a list#if i said mad scientist + body horror + dead dove do not eat i could be talking about so many fucking classics but due to being nuts ab it#that would be frankenstein boiled down to a ‘top three tropes!!’ list#screams and throws up at the thought of all literature being spoken of with the most hollow tactics#like just advertising and marketing tactics i mean. what used to be terms very good for categorizing fanfiction and tagging fanfiction#has been co-opted horribly as the idea of fandom = profit hit wider parts of society#like i get it. i’m an author. i understand how appealing the idea of boiling my stories down to easily understandable#phrases could be easy. it could get some people interested#the problem is even if i thought it was within my personal values to do that? literally impossible personally. i cannot isolate#small pieces of a wider narrative just to gamify describing my story#it just takes away so much#it’s so narrow and dare i say shallow#anyway fuck capitalism#anyway !!!!!
