One of my favorite moments in the Barbie movie was Ken's final big scene where he's finally voicing his self-hatred and all the other Ken's start shouting positive affirmations. The emotional connection that the Kens made helped create the space of vurnerability and support where they COULD be Ken and could be okay with it...

I loved how it other men's support did more for Ken than Barbie could offer.

Still in awe of how well the D&D movie mimicked the feeling of D&D without doing anything as tediously literal as a "sitting around the table" framing device. The way some characters have names that sound like names a DM improvised on the spot, the sudden appearance and disappearance of a overpowered DM NPC for a single dungeon, the way they used the fact that characters can plausibly just mess up for no clear reason to escalate action scenes...that was cinema

I will admit, it's a little embarrassing since you can easily see the patterns of what I've been listening to for the past year or two. I swear I listen to more than just videogame OSTs, these songs just jive well with the story and I often find lyrics distracting when brainstorming scenes. Regardless, the music I listen to is such an important part of my creative process and some of these songs really defined the scenes I now have locked in my head. So I figured it was only fair to give them the credit they're due.

I like to think of Across the Spiderverse as a massive fuck you to Hollywood bigwigs that keep treating animation like it’s an inferior form of storytelling only for children as they churn out live action remakes of animated features less than 5 years old because that’s the only legitimate form of cinema.

This movie proves that animation is a legitimate art form and no less powerful than live action.
