#it reminds me of that one lyric from Hadestown
Text
The one major thing about being the type of person who has been constantly pushed away from many different friend or community groups basically since birth!is that at some point when joining a new group you struggle with forming bonds with the people there because deep inside you know that they’re going to abandon you anyways (at best, due to life or at worst, due to you not being useful to them anymore, or being too much) so why bother.
It hurts. It actually hurts to feel the aches deep within me when my heart wants—from the bottom of itself—to form a bond, to make memories and show itself to the world; my mind, on the other hand, weary with age and trauma, doesn’t want to take chances anymore—ever the cynical entity. Almost all of the time, the jadedness of my mind wins.

Okay so like I’ve been talking about the connections between hope and doubt and fear and doubt. Cassandra was in a half form. She both was and wasn’t Cassandra. In this form she was fear and doubt intertwined.
The fight with the dragons went well for the bad kids, but they still could’ve died so many times especially Gorgug, Fig, and Kristen. And they’re heading straight into another fight. One that they aren’t guaranteed to survive and won’t be able to rest beforehand. If they had had to continue fighting with the half formed Cassandra/Nightmare King shit would’ve gotten reallllll bad.
Cassandra/Nightmare King was the clouds around them. They were literally surrounded by fear and doubt. But for just a moment, in the midst of all this chaos, Cassandra was reached out to, she felt hope, for just a moment she felt like she wasn’t alone. And that moment of hope was all that was needed for them to get free. A moment of hopeful doubt cleared their path from oppressive clouds of fear.
Hope, doubt, fear, they’re all such powerful emotions. And when you’re surrounded by fear it really can feel like you’re flying a ship attached to a house through the sky while being attacked by dragons and having to pretend like nothing is wrong. You can’t let anyone see how you’re struggling or everything will fall apart.
“The dog you really gotta dred / is the one that howls inside men’s heads / it’s him whose howls drive men mad / and a mind to its undoing” Y’all already know how in love I am with Hadestown and its portrayals of hope, doubt, and fear. The dog, the fear, in your mind can drive you mad. Orpheus was consumed by fear and doubt and in the end it cost him everything. He reminds me a bit of Cassandra in that way.
Except that where Cassandra was always doubt, Orpheus was the embodiment of hope. Fear corrupted them both, but Orpheus never regained hope. And so he lost. Cassandra felt hope again. All is not lost.
“I’ll tell you where the real road lies / between your ears / behind your eyes / that is the path to paradise / likewise the road to ruin” We all gotta walk that road, and though in the lyrics Hermes says it’s a lonesome road to walk, I think if we aren’t alone on that road we have a better chance of reaching paradise than of ruin. Orpheus was alone in his head with his doubts and fears. The bad kids aren’t alone, Cassandra isn’t alone, it’s the only thing keeping her alive. The only thing keeping fear from completely consuming and corrupting her once more is the fact that she isn’t alone.
Idk this was a longgggggg ass ramble and I’m very tired but I think this season of fantasy high and hadestown connect well in how they both deal with hope, doubt, fear, and conviction. And I think an important lesson to take from both is that you can’t handle the whole world by yourself, you’ll go mad, but there’s power in people and in our connection to each other

Touchstarved Romance Themes (Musical Version)
I like musicals, so I paired each Touchstarved LI x MC pairing with songs from musicals! These will probably be inaccurate since I'm going off of vibes from the demo. If you guys have other musical songs that you think would fit, please feel free to reblog or comment (I always like to find new musical songs!).
Kuras x MC
“All I’ve Ever Known” (Hadestown) — I associate Kuras with sunlight and devotion, and this song has both. There are a lot of lyrics that remind me of his path in the demo.
"I was alone so long I didn't even know that I was lonely. Out in the cold so long, I didn't even know that I was cold."
"You take me in your arms And suddenly there's sunlight all around me Everything bright and warm And shining like it never did before And for a moment I forget Just how dark and cold it gets."
"I don't know how or why Who am I that I should get to hold you?"
"Suddenly the sunlight, bright and warm Suddenly I'm holding the world in my arms."
“No Good Deed” (Wicked) — Can you imagine Kuras healing us to this?
"Let their flesh not be torn Let their blood leave no stain Though they're beaten, Let them feel no pain. Let their bones never break And however they try to destroy them, Let them never die."
"My road of good intentions Led where such roads always lead No good deed Goes unpunished."
“The Hill” (Once) — I think it would be interesting if, as a foil to Vere, one of his flaws is that he doesn't actually see us as a person? MC is either a path to redemption or another tragedy.
"But where are you my angel now? Don't you see me crying?"
"I'm on my knees in front of him But he doesn't seem to see me. With all his troubles on his mind, He's looking right through me."
Leander x MC (sidenote, there are so many musical songs that fit this guy why is he so musical-coded, also why are so many musical songs terrifying when you imagine it with Leander? XD)
“All I Ask of You” (Phantom of the Opera) — To be fair, I guess this song is also still unsettling in its actual context, too, if you know the story. XD
"Let me be your shelter, Let me be your light. You're safe, no one will find you, Your fears are far behind you."
“Something Wonderful” (The King and I) — From MC's perspective, Leander being toxic af.
"The thoughtless things he'll do Will hurt and worry you Then all at once he'll do Something wonderful."
"He has a thousand dreams That won't come true You know that he believes in them And that's enough for you."
“Only Us” (Dear Evan Hansen) — This is the sweet song that is mildly concerning when you pair it with him.
"What if it's you And what if it's me And what if that's all that we need it to be And the rest of the world falls away?"
"I never thought there'd be someone like you who would want me. So I give you ten thousand reasons to not let me go."
"We can just watch the whole world disappear. 'Til you're the only one I still know how to see. It's just you and me."
“Our Love is God” (Heathers) — The Heathers songs are here because I cannot listen to these without imagining Leander anymore.
"They died because God said they must The new world needed room For me and you."
"I worship you. I'd trade my life for yours They all will disappear. We'll plant our garden here. Our love is God."
“Meant to Be Yours” (Heathers) — Leander outside the room he gave us.
"Those assholes are the key! They're keeping you away from me! They made you blind, messed up your mind But I can set you free!"
"You were meant to be mine. I am all that you need. You carved open my heart, Can't just leave me to bleed!"
Vere x MC
“Natasha & Anatole” (Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812) — This song is unsettling but there are so many lyrics that remind me of Vere. And I guess the unsettling vibe suits him well, it does feel like he's putting you in a trance before he devours you.
"And I never remove my smiling eyes From your face, your neck, your bare arms."
"And looking into his eyes, I am frightened There's not that barrier of modesty I've always felt with men I feel so terribly near I fear that he may seize me from behind And kiss me on the neck."
"Look straight into my eyes Nearness Tenderness Smile at me Gaze straight into my eyes There is no barrier between us There is nothing between us."
“Take Me or Leave Me” (Rent) — A more lighthearted song, and I think it suits his unapologetic attitude.
"Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be."
"A tiger in a cage Can never see the sun This diva needs her stage baby, let's have fun!"
"You are the one I choose Folks would kill to fill your shoes You love the limelight too now baby So be mine, And don’t waste my time."
Ais x MC
“You Matter to Me” (Waitress) — This song feels very straightforward and true and quietly comforting, like companionable silence. So it feels a bit like Ais's path in the demo.
"Come out of hiding, I'm right here beside you And I'll stay there as long as you let me."
"You matter to me, Simple and plain and not much to ask from somebody."
“Sunrise” (In the Heights) — Since one of his likes is learning new languages, I thought this would be a cute song with him and an MC who knows another language teaching him a few words. The lyric "promise me you'll stay" makes me think of the end of the demo where Ais asks MC not to choose the Seaspring so quickly.
"Calor. Heat. Anoche. Last night. Dolor. Pain."
"Promise me you'll stay beyond the sunrise I don't care at all what people say beyond the sunrise."
Mhin x MC
“Falling Slowly” (Once) — It seems to have a lot of yearning and a bittersweet ending, which I got from their demo path.
"I don't know you, but I want you All the more for that."
"Falling slowly, eyes that know me And I can't go back And moods that take me and erase me And I'm painted black."
"You have suffered enough And warred with yourself It's time that you won."
“What You Mean to Me” (Finding Neverland) — To be honest, I put this here mostly because they like stargazing. But I think it does fit Mhin when they don't have the words to express their feelings.
"I won't lie I'm a little bit frightened."
"Every star that's ever fallen Knows the way to where we're going Now I really know just what you mean to me."
Elyon x MC
"Epic III" (Hadestown) — I'm basing this off of the short description of him searching for the one thing money can't buy.
"What has become of the heart of that man Now that he has everything? The more he has, the more he holds The greater the weight of the world on his shoulders."
"He's grown so afraid that he'll lose what he owns But what he doesn't know is that what he's defending Is already gone."
Sen x MC
"The Next Ten Minutes" (The Last Five Years) — I feel like her ultimate goal being her own death adds another layer to this song, making it less about a proposal and more about treasuring the time you have together.
"Will you share your life with me For the next ten minutes? For the next ten minutes, We can handle that. We could watch the waves, We could watch the sky, Or just sit and wait As the time ticks by, And if we make it 'til then, Could I ask you again For another ten?"
"There are so many dreams I need to see with you. There are so many years I need to be with you."
*******Bonus********** I'm sorry
Ocudeus x MC
“Hey, Little Songbird” (Hadestown) — Okay. So, in all honesty, I think this could fit Elyon, too, but I thought this was funnier. Also Ocudeus using bird nicknames because Ais does that, like a petty eldritch horror. XD So. Ocudeus trying to convince MC to drink from the Seaspring.
"You'd shine like a diamond down in the mine. And the choice is yours, if you're willing to choose, Seeing as you've got nothing to lose, And I could use a canary."
"Strange is the call of this stranger I wanna fly down and feed at its hand. I want a nice soft place to land. I want to lie down forever."

What type of music would the counselors listen to?
I know some of my mutuals have answered this question before and I'm sure my headcanons will be influenced by theirs, AND I'm also significantly older than the counselors so they're probably listening to gen z stuff my late millennial ass doesn't even know about but here goes nothing!
Laura So much SIØBHAN! Just kidding. Laura feels like two completely different characters in the game so I have a hard time deciding what I think spunky but straight-laced, ‘this is my first cop,’ over-achieving pre-vet student Laura Kearney would listen to vs badass avenging murder spree Laura Kearney (but maybe she always had that inside her). Part of me wants to say, like, 80’s pop (Prince, Blondie, Tiffany, Michael Jackson, Pat Benetar, etc.) and part of me wants to put her in the hard rock/metal zone with Ryan. Maybe she’s a bit of both.
Max I believe it was Addie (@insertlovelyperson) who said Max would listen to country music where women murder their cheating or abusive husbands. That tracks to me. Maybe it's the use of Alma Cogan's version of 'Fly Me to the Moon' in the game, but I also tend to associate him with crooner type singers of the 40's and 50's (Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin, etc), which is what I said he'd choose for karaoke. And because of this fanart I have no choice but to HC him as a major Ariana Grande fan, he's probably the one who chose the music for the drive to camp. So. Max has range.
Abi is the K-Pop/J-Pop stan to me but I know so little about that music beyond the crossover bands like BTS that I can't speak to it a whole lot. I think she'd also like some emo, pop-punk and moodier alt/pop. Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Melanie Martinez, Florence and the Machine, Metric, Lorde, Halsey, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers/boygenius, etc. I feel like she's really into female fronted bands for some reason.
Jacob likes pretty much whatever is on the radio. He's a top 40 guy and has no shame about his enjoyment of Ed Sheeran and Justin Beiber, or about ugly crying to Taylor Swift and Coldplay. He rarely listens closely to the actual lyrics (and often gets them humorously wrong), he just goes on vibes. He discovers half the music he listens to via TikTok (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Emma is a theater kid through and through and loves broadway musicals. She goes through phases with each popular one. She's had a Waitress phase, a Mamma Mia phase, a Wicked phase, and a Hamilton phase, of course, and now she's into Mean Girls, Heathers, and Hadestown. Beyond that, I think she'd be a dedicated Swiftie, big Adele fan, and a lover of Britney Spears's entire body of work from the 90's through today.
Nick probably listens to stoner bro music. Like jam bands and psychedelic rock and stuff. He probably likes Dave Matthews Band and the Grateful Dead/Dark Star Orchestra, Sublime, Widespread Panic, Tame Impala, and O.A.R. Googling jam bands to remind myself which ones exist led me to the knowledge that there's an Australian psychedelic rock band called King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and that name is so bonkers that I've decided without listening to more than a few bars that it has to be Nick's favorite band.
Ryan is a little bit emo and a little bit goth and a little bit old school punk. He needs music that's loud and moody to help sort out his feelings about life and drown out all the excess noise inside his head. He's into metal, the harder side of emo/screamo, goth rock, hard rock, punk, and post-punk. He definitely listens to Nightwish, GOJIRA, Mastodon, Lacuna Coil, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Thursday, Alkaline Trio, My Chemical Romance, AFI, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Minor Threat, The Misfits, Ramones, etc. He doesn't hate more accessible pop and rock music, but the closest he gets to choosing it for himself is probably something like The Cure or The Smashing Pumpkins or Depeche Mode, maybe some of the creepier Weeknd songs and Muse tracks too heavy to go on the Twilight soundtracks. He and Abi listen to Babymetal together.
Kaitlyn classic rock and 90's alternative. This girl likes the Stones more than the Beatles, though she'll listen to both. Led Zeppelin, Joan Jett, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Black Sabbath, the occasional hair band. She especially loves the 90's girl rockers like Alanis Morisette, Garbage, Hole, Veruca Salt, and No Doubt (Kaitlyn can't believe Gwen Stefani is married to pop-country dork Blake Shelton who sings that song about being your honey bee, because Gwen used to be so cool [I'm definitely not projecting]). I feel like she'd also love Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney, Le Tigre, and The Donnas.
Dylan is the Music Guy (and my personal bias/url namesake), so I've admittedly thought about his musical tastes more than most of the others'. The official Quarry website mentions his 'deep musical knowledge' and I imagine he has pretty broad views on what constitutes good music. He's got kind of a vintage vibe to him, maybe it's the reproduction band shirt from 1988, or the fact that he's into analog technology, or both, but I've noticed he's often depicted playing Queen or Bowie or something of that era in fics, which I think is realistic. This kid goes to the used record store and just buys whatever looks cool.
Fun Fact: According to the datamine, the chapters originally had literary or musical quotes at the beginning of each, and Chapter 5: White Noise (the radio hut chapter) was originally headed by the opening lyrics from Queen's 'Radio Ga Ga':
Tumblr media
He's also the only character we see play music in canon, so we know he likes... songs from random compilation albums with inexpensive royalties. XD Just kidding, but these are the diegetic (in-universe) songs we get to hear from Dylan's playlist at the bonfire party:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All pop music of varying subtypes, so we know he appreciates a well-crafted pop song. I honestly am a fan of all of these. I think Dylan genuinely listens to everything but he seems like the type to especially like alt and indie pop, classic rock, garage rock, a bit of the more melodic side of punk, emo, and pop-punk, new wave, synth pop, electronic, and a little bit of hip hop that’s sufficiently nerdy white boy friendly (probably Beastie Boys, Run the Jewels, Post Malone, emo rap like Blackbear, etc). I also tend to gravitate towards early-mid aughts indie for him, like MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, OK Go, LCD Soundsystem, etc. Just seems to match his vibe. I think he'd really like BØRNS, Hozier, COIN, Mitski, and K.Flay and probably have a fair amount of overlap with Ryan's more melodic picks (MCR, Muse, The Cure, etc). Dylan probably hates Morrissey but begrudgingly loves The Smiths and definitely cranks up The Killers in his car. He’s also listening to bands right now that you’ve never heard of but will be huge in a couple years. He can probably tell you the difference between subgenres like chillwave, dream pop, and shoegaze but don’t ask me about it because I have no fucking clue.
Since we’re on the subject, here’s my absurdly long and ever-growing Rylan/Radioheads playlist because I have a problem.
And my Sweet Summer Jams playlist, that’s just a bunch of random songs I think would be clean enough to play at a summer camp as long as the kids/your boss don’t ask too many questions.

I finally listened to Hadestown! 🎉
Starting with the Original Cast Recording, ‘cause might as well do it in release order. Loved it! Groovy music. Snickered. Cried. Wrote down my reaction as I went, so if you're chill with rambled thoughts and observations, here you go lol
(Soz for any typos, I was touch typing most of the time, and I've edited it but probs missed stuff)
Road to Hell (Live)
Oh it’s JAZZY. Huh. Didn't expect that, but I am living.
I like how at the start they’re simulating a train’s chugging.
Those call and response harmonies tho *chef's kiss*
Kinda reminds me of Udad.
Oh that’s Hermes!
“It’s a sad song” he says, while singing the boppiest of bops.
I like that “suitcase full of summertime” line.
“About someone... who tries.” Oho, we’re gettin into it now! *rubs hands together*
Also, I completely get now why Jorge said that first draft of EPIC: The Musical Hermes was like Hadestown.
Livin' It Up on Top (Live)
That’s a smooth transition👌
Persephone’s voice is really cool. Kinda rough texture?
Oh I didn’t realise Persephone and Hades would be having a turbulent relationship in this.
Oooh Orpheus’ voice is smooth.
They’re all so happy huh. Welp, you know there’s gonna be a crash in their future.
Orpheus seems really grateful for Persephone’s... graciousness? When he said that she'll always fill their cups and they'll raise them to her and stuff. Theory: either she’ll have a soft spot for him later, or he’ll feel betrayed and blindsided by the more cold side of her later.
All I've Ever Known (Live)
I don’t know anything about Eurydice, but is this her song?
Ah yeah Orpheus is singing, so it must be.
Oop. Foreshadowing.
Way Down Hadestown (Live)
Hermes is back!
“Bored to death” HA
“Graveyard” wow the puns/metaphors are going hard XD
I can’t tell who’s singing lmao. This is like when I listened to Hamilton for the first time. I’ll need lyrics, or familiarity RIP
The coins as the percussion/tambourine is a nice touch.
Hades’ voice is DEEP.
They haven’t mentioned gods yet, I don’t think? Just the Fates, right? It sounds more like a mining operation metaphor for mythos right now, hmm.
Epic II (Live)
King of diamonds and spades - like the playing card suits, but also like the mining operation.
It’s the La la la la thing from Wolfy’s animatic! Almost. A different rendition - I bet I'll hear that later 👀
Why is it called Epic II? Where’s 1? Am I missing something?
Chant (Live)
Oh they’re doing overlapping meodies!!
Ah wait this is Eurydice now, gotta go back a few seconds to catch that. I keep getting her mixed up with Persephone 😅
Oh now we’ve got Eurydice and Orpheus relationship troubles? Huh, I kinda assumed they’d be the perfect couple till her death.
And a semi callback to her song, nice.
Hay Little Songbird (Live)
DAMN his voice is deep!
Is this Eurydice??
Is- Is Hades seducing her? To work for him of smth? Ummm.
Not the canary!
That shaker sounds like a rattlesnake, and it does not bode well for a little bird.
When the Chips are Down (Live)
Oh hey I was right! It is a metaphorical rattlesnake!
Does she choose to go to the Underworld of her own volition? I thought she like- died.
Gone I'm Gone (Live)
She does??
Ouch. She sounds so resigned.
Is this a metaphor for her starving to death? Oof.
The harmonies!!
Wait for Me (Live)
“Six feet under” oh yep.
“Lay low, stay outta sight” - getting Hamilton's Stay Alive vibes.
“Don’t look back” ah. FORESHADOWING.
Ohhh the River Styx being a high wall is so smart!
“And don’t look no one in the eye” I must be too deep in the Odyssey related fandoms, because I'm seeing puns where there are none lmao
The HARMONIES!
Poor Orpheus, but I mean, he was kinda being a bit… naive? If he didn’t prepare for winter and just went off in his own head to make songs?
Why We Build the Wall (Live)
Free from who?
Enemy? 👀
(Yes, I'm aware I'm being led into asking all the questions he wants me to ask, but in my defence, it's very effective.)
Oh huh. Wasn't expecting it to be poverty, tho maybe I should've.
Him calling them “My children” plus the chanting is uh. Why does this sound like cult propaganda?
His voice sounds like the Ozymandias poem guy.
Also giving Frollo “She ran, I pursued” vocal vibes.
“Behind closed doors” - ominous.
Ha! Ok nice subversion.
Our Lady of the Underground (Live)
Persepone is a drug dealer XD
That’s a strange note on “there’s a crack in the wall”
Oh no, am I supposed to remember all these band member names? *crying*
Way Down Hadestown II (Live)
Bringing back motifs I see.
The pickaxes as percussion is cool.
Oop, Eurydice is getting a bit of a wake up call.
Chant II (Live)
Ooooh does the ‘backdoor’ Hermes meant, mean that Orpheus doesn’t have to ‘die’ to get there? ‘Cause he didn’t sign anything, which is a metaphor for him not actually being dead in the myth, so he can still leave.
“Hungry for the underworld” - the pomegranate?
And now Eurydice and Orpheus are singing half the La la la la tune each as if to each other from across the Underworld!
Ooh I LIKE those slant rhymes! "Young man, you can strum your lyre, I have strung the world in wire."
Oh this is where Orpheus sings his plea!! I know this is a thing because of Udad's Underworld Blues lol.
Epic III (Live)
The harmonies 🥺
Oh! It’s that part from Wolfy's animatic :O
I’m tearing up bro.
Just thinking that Eurydice was so upset with Orpheus for focusing on writing his song about Hades and Persephone, but it's that very song that is giving him a chance to sway Hades' mind. But on the other hand, if he'd focused less on the song, he never would've had to use it, y'know?
Word to the Wise (Live)
Ha the Fates(?) doing Hades’ inner monologue like, yeah bro u screwed yourself.
Uh oh this is probs where Hades comes up with the ultimatum. Wait no don't-
His Kiss the Riot (Live)
Those strings are creepy.
Belladonna? Oh the poisonous flower.
Did he call Orpheus the Jack of Hearts?
That acordian is awesome.
Fuck, I knew it.
He sounds like the guy who does the creepily ominous monologue in Micheal Jackson's Thriller.
Promises (Live)
Oh huh. It’s my theory from the 2nd song but it's Eurydice feeling betrayed that the world isn't always plentiful and not Orpheus?
Those strings are gorgeous!
Oh! A duet!
When the couple actually works out their shit:
“I do” omgggg!
KEEP WALKING. DONT LOOK BACK.
Wait for Me II (Live)
Aww that’s nice. Persephone and Hades are gonna try too!
Oh no not the “wait” like in Hurricane-
Doubt Come In (Live)
Oh noooooo
KEEP GOING. JUST KEEP GOING. SHE’S WITH YOU
OH NOOOO DON’T FALTER
LISTEN TO HER! HOLD ON! KEEP GOING!
... Oh god
Road to Hell II (Live)
NO THERE'S A FUCKING AD
Hermes sounds so sad but resigned. Like, 'Oh well. I knew it would turn out like this, but I'd hoped.' Which like. SAME.
The instruments stripped away so it's only silence and one voice is so good.
I can just imagine Orpheus collapsed shell shocked on stage as Hermes not unkindly pushes him to go on.
That reprise and ending is so fucking good AHHH omg no regrets. Some regrets. Whatever, it was good.
... Time to listen to it again with lyrics :D
And then I'm gonna listen to the Original Broadway Cast Recording!

how do u come up with your titles? they read like song lyrics- and if they are could u drop the songs 👀👀++ to what extent does that song influence the story? (my bad if you've answered this before I have terrible memory)
-🦀
Ooohhh crab anon, the bag of worms you opened!! You are completely right, (almost) every title of my stories have come from song lyrics. And not only have I compiled the songs for you, I’ve written a lil blurb on why I chose that song and included recommended songs for each fic with applicable lyrics. I hope these satisfy!
another cup of wine | “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl” Looking Glass
Listen, I’m gonna be real with y’all. This one is just because Darlin’ and Sam drink wine out of cups instead of glasses. No deeper meaning here, just an applicable lyric I liked. The song does have a sort of swag and divorced dad rock vibe that I think Sam in particular would listen to.
Recommended listening
“He Needs Me” Shelly Duval
“I’ll take a chance / I will because he needs me”
“No Choir” Florence + the Machine
“And it’s hard to write about being happy / ‘cause the older I get / I find that happiness is an extremely uneventful subject”
the only anchor i have left | poem by Andrea Gibson
The only one not taken from a song. I’ll link the poem below. I think the whole thing is very good for Bright Eyes. Lost and anchorless without something to be angry about. A common Andrea Gibson slay.
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9548512-what-if-i-don-t-want-the-monster-to-stop-being
Recommended listening
“Your Needs / My Needs” Noah Kahan
“To see a friend, to see a ghost”
“your life, your dreams / your mind, your needs/ my needs. / Your needs, my needs.”
“Second Child, Restless Child” the Oh Hellos
“And they saw the trouble in my eyes / they were quick to recognize the devil in me.”
i always wanted to die (clean and pretty) | “Last Words of a Shooting Star” Mitski
One of two or three Mitski lyrics I’ve used since she is just so good. Tbh I don’t know where I was going or where I want to go with this one. The general vibes are… tragic. I might retool later on.
Recommended listening
“Lonesome Town” Ricky Nelson
“There’s a place where lovers go / to cry their troubles away / and they call it Lonesome Town / where the broken hearts stay”
“This Too Shall Pass” Danny Schmidt
“We think too big / we think our self is one whole thing / and we claim that this collection / has a name and is a being / but deep inside / when every cell divides / well, it sets upon the rule that states / self-interest is divine”
let this whole town hear your knuckles crack | “Damn These Vampires” the Mountain Goats
Somehow the only fic so far with a title from tMG, my favorite band of all time. I’m sure I’ll find more in time. This song has western vibes that I don’t think fits the DAMN crew very well, and somehow I paired this song in my one fic that doesn’t involve Sam. However, the vibes are immaculate.
Recommended listening
Seventeen Going Under” Sam Fender
“I was far too scared to hit him / but I would hit him in a heart beat now / that’s the thing with anger / it begs to stick around”
“Saint Bernard 2” by Lincoln
“Lord make me a liar ‘cause I swore to god / when swearing still felt like the truth”
it’s my gut i can’t ignore (i’m hungry) | “Gone, I’m Gone” Eva Noblezada and the cast of Hadestown.
Also surprising I haven’t used more broadway lyrics, but here we are. My absolute favorite musical which, in part, is about hunger driving you to do desperate things. This piece was so largely focused on food insecurity for me. Every chapter revolves around food to some degree, and even the metaphors and similes Angel uses to describe the world around them are tied to food. It’s something that those of us who grew up with food insecurity can relate to; when you’re hungry, everything reminds you of food. When you live hungry, it consumes your every thought. When Noblezada as Eurydice delivers the line “it’s my gut I can’t ignore / Orpheus, I’m hungry,” you can hear it in her voice. It’s worth a listen for that line alone.
“Abbey” Mitski
“I am hungry / I have been hungry / I was born hungry / what do I need”
“Class of 2013- Audiotree Live Version” Mitski
“Mom / will you wash my back this once / and then we can forget / and I’ll leave what I’m chasing / for the other girls to pursue”
as long as you’re with me (you’ll be just fine) | “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” Cigarettes After Sex
This whole song has excellent David vibes. The protectiveness, the quiet possession. He’s a soft soul at heart, I think, and this song fits well. This collection is one of my faves just because we get to see many different sides of him and ways in which he can be protective, possessive. From quiet reassurance to acts of service to beating the shit out of people. As long as his pack is with him, he will keep them safe.
Recommended listening
“Cold Cold Man” Saint Motel
“Oh my love / I know I am a cold, cold man / quite slow to pay you compliments / or public displayed affections. / But baby, don’t you go over analyze / no need to theorize / I can put your doubts to rest / You’re the only one worth seeing”
there is a light (i feel it in me) | “Abbey” Mitski
Already tied to this series, this Mitski song is just perfect. An exploration of how trauma can effect us in ugly ways, this piece pairs perfectly with Mitski’s music. This song explores the deep hunger within the singer, countered by the lightness she feels within herself. Angel, in this piece, is haunted by their hunger and treats David poorly because of it. The light that he shows them helps them to reach for the light within themself. We love healing in this house!!!
See the recommended songs under it’s my gut i can’t ignore (i’m hungry).
the rest of you, the best of you (honey belongs to me) | “NFWMB” Hozier
Oh boy I could go on for ages about Hozier. His songs are on almost all of my Redacted playlists and so I listen to his work pretty much every time I write for Redacted. His lyricism and prose are evident in my work, I think. This piece, one of Angel’s first indications of how protective David is, fits so well with this song. Swinging wildly between protectiveness and possessiveness, David mirrors the song’s progression throughout the piece. I think “Belongs to me” is the operative part of this title.

“You’re Mine” Phantogran
“(No one’s gonna love you) / (No one’s gonna touch you) / ‘cause you’re mine! / (No one’s gonna look at you)”
“Always Forever” Cults
“You and me, always forever / We could stay alone together / You and me, always forever / Say you’ll stay, never be severed”
i assume you’ll be coming for blood (that makes two of us) | “Venom” Little Simz
Alright so… for real… this piece should have been named “is it wickedness? is it weakness?” after the first (or last, depending on how you play it) track on Kendrick Lamar’s “Damn.” That entire album is a work of art, and it can be played cohesively forward or backward, each play telling a different story. Forward is Kendrick’s life as it is, and backward is how it might have gone had his father died when he was young.
In this story, the inciting incident for Sweetness to be so different from the Sweetheart that we know is their mother dying when they were young. I’m positing here that Sweetheart in the main universe still has their mom and that’s why they’re kinder.
Anyway. I stand by “Venom” being a banger. It’s themes don’t run as cohesively with this story as Damn.‘s do, but I can live with it. For now.
Recommended listening
“Damn. Collectors Addition.” By Kendrick Lamar.
Yes the entire album. This particular edition, too, since it is the “wicked” timeline.
“Love’s gonna get you killed / but pride’s gonna be the death of you”
“United in Grief” Kendrick Lamar
“Pray none of my enemies / hold me captive / I grieve different”
remembering again the full extent of what forever is | “Through Me (The Flood)” Hozier
More Hozier! We know I love him and the new stuff he’s put out for Unreal Unearth and all of it’s EP’s are changing me fundamentally as a person. Hozier’s work has always connected with me deeply, all the way back to when I was a repressed queer kid listening to “Take Me To Church.” Now, as he’s putting out this big push of music, I’m finding myself connecting with the core of his music again. This song, a song about surrendering to the impossibility and incomprehensible nature of love, is perfect for William and Alexis. Will’s love for Alexis isn’t healthy, and it doesn’t lead him to sound choices, but he feels he has no choice. So he surrenders to it.
Recommended listening
“Eat Your Young” Hozier
“It’s a kindness / highness / crumbs enough for everyone / old and young are welcome to the meal”
“My Love Is Sick” Madds Buckley
“You’re an infection / I am keeping / No matter the sepsis / you are staying / I’d rather the wound / Than have you removed / Enough rotting for two / Killing me, keeping me high”
the world (it burns through me) | “Through Me (The Flood)” Hozier
Oh boy two for one! I for sure snagged this from the same song as the last piece I posted too. Yada yada surrendering to love and all of that. Love is something that’s has happened to Darlin, not something they have taken an active part in. They take the opposite message from William in this song; they fight the current, don’t let the world take them under. They are a fighter, in the end.
Recommended listening
Arsonists Lullaby” Hozier
“All you have is your fire / and the place you need to reach / don’t you ever tame your demons / but always keep them on a leash.”
“Problems” Mother Mother
“I’ve found love in the strangest place / ties up and branded / locked in a cage”
and my body remains (but the person is gone) | “Divine Loser” Clem Turner
Asher’s main trauma response in this piece is dissociation, pulling away from himself and his body to protect himself. While “Divine Loser” isn’t necessarily about dissociation, there are a number of apt lyrics that tie in with Ash in this story.
Recommended Listening
“To Someone From a Warm Climate (Uiscefhuaraithe)” Hozier
“You’d shake for minutes there and move your legs / wrap the blanket over you and keep your head within / let your breath heat the air until you’d feel it getting thin / Uiscefhuaraithe.”
“Wait” Get Set Go
“Wait, wait for the dawn, my dear / wait til the sun gets here / and you will wait too long / he will be gone”
when i call, you come home (a bird in your teeth) | “I Know The End” Phoebe Bridgers
Ooohhh boy! I love this song. Phoebe does something to me y’all. This song is sad, which makes it an interesting choice for a, generally, happy ending fic. This piece, like most things I write about the pack in childhood, is tinged with a sad sort of nostalgia. It’s the knowledge that we as readers have that, whatever comfort and love David gets from Gabe is temporary. We know how this story ends. We know that Gabe will die. And so even these happy moments are seen through that lens. I Know The End.
Recommended listening
“That Funny Feeling” Bo Burnham
“That unapparent summer air in early fall / the quiet comprehending of the ending of it all / there it is again, that funny feeling / that funny feeling.”
“Black Eyed Dog” Nick Drake
“I’m growing old and I wanna go home / I’m growing old and I don’t wanna know / I’m growing old and I want to go home / Black eyed dog, he called at my door / The black eyed dog he called for more.”

//luke's bday card spoiler(?)
luke pearce definitely has survivors guilt from nsb, but consider... he also has it long before when both rena and percival passed away... i will take my leave now
/ luke bday card spoilers, spoilers for SSR Burning Reminiscence
oh this is absolutely heartbreaking but youre so right. in a way, luke's been followed by the concept of death for so long. it reminds me of this lyric from Any Way The Wind Blows from Hadestown,
Wherever it was this young girl went The Fates were close behind
it's a horrible thought to think that luke had been experiencing survivor's guilt even before he had the words or understanding for what it was. he was just a kid. how it manifested was probably something innocent and childlike like why are they gone? why am i the only one here? what if i was with them, could that have helped? why did they leave me behind?
so the feeling of survivor's guilt is inherently familiar to luke when he wakes up from that terrible mission and is told he was the only survivor. and ruefully, he wonders if the universe or fate has it out for him, that death is always following him at his heels. and when he learns about his illness, he wonders hopelessly if this has been coming to him since the beginning
(of course it's not because I Am The Master Of My Fate / I Am The Captain Of My Own Soul and all that but god. it's heartbreaking to think about luke's hopelessness pre-character arc...he gets better, but he was at his worst before the better can happen)

All I've Ever Known
Written By: Anaïs Mitchell
Artist: Eva Noblezada & Reeve Carney for Hadestown (OBC)
Released: 2019
After truly seeing Orpheus' hope and optimism in “Livin' It Up On Top,” Eurydice has completely fallen in love with Orpheus. She is shedding her habit of constant independence and trying to start to trust, but her cynicism leads her to be wary and frightened. She expresses to Orpheus that she has only ever held her own, but she is ready to not feel lonely. Orpheus addresses his inherent connection with Eurydice. Much of what Orpheus says to Eurydice in this song is used again in “Epic III,” when Orpheus sings of Hades love for Persephone; this draws a parallel between the two pairs.
[EURYDICE] I was alone so long I didn't even know that I was lonely Out in the cold so long I didn’t even know that I was cold Turned my collar to the wind This is how it's always been All I've ever known is how to hold my own All I’ve ever known is how to hold my own But now I wanna hold you, too You take me in your arms And suddenly there's sunlight all around me Everything bright and warm And shining like it never did before And for a moment I forget Just how dark and cold it gets All I've ever known is how to hold my own All I've ever known is how to hold my own But now I wanna hold you Now I wanna hold you, hold you close I don't wanna ever have to let you go Now I wanna hold you, hold you tight I don't wanna go back to the lonely life [ORPHEUS] I don't know how or why Or who am I that I should get to hold you But when I saw you all alone against the sky It's like I’d known you all along I knew you before we met And I don’t even know you yet All I know is you're someone I have always known [ORPHEUS and EURYDICE] All I know is you’re someone I have always known And I don't even know you Now I wanna hold you, hold you close I don't wanna ever have to let you go [EURYDICE] Suddenly the sunlight Bright and warm [ORPHEUS] Suddenly I'm holding the world in my arms [EURYDICE] Say that you’ll hold me forever Say that the wind won't change on us Say that we'll stay with each other And it will always be like this [ORPHEUS] I'm gonna hold you forever The wind will never change on us Long as we stay with each other [ORPHEUS and EURYDICE] Then it will always be like this

Run Away With Me
Written By: Noonie Bao, Oscar Holter, Carly Rae Jepsen, Robin Fredriksson, Shellback & Mattias Larsson
Artist: Carly Rae Jepsen
Released: 2015
On “Run Away with Me”, lyrics of restlessness and covert passion are delivered over high-paced retro-inspired synths, a pulsing bass, and crashing drums that drive the track. The song establishes CRJ as an artist who has grown past the the bubblegum nature of her breakthrough album Kiss. However, the pop catchiness of Carly Rae’s work is still present on E•MO•TION. According to Jepsen, the song is about the “magic” of long-distance lovers being together, even if only briefly: “The song’s about being away from someone for so long and having to make this one weekend together count. It’s totally romantic and not very real-life, but there’s something kind of magical in that.” The music video dropped the same day the song did.
[Verse 1] You're stuck in my head, stuck on my heart Stuck in my body, body I wanna go, get outta here I'm sick of the party, party I'd run away I'd run away with you, ooh-ooh-ooh This is the part you gotta say All that you're feeling, feeling Packing a bag, leaving tonight While everyone's sleeping, sleeping Let's run away I'll run away with you, ooh-ooh-ooh [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause you make me feel like I could be driving you all night And I'll find your lips in the streetlights I wanna be there with you, ooh-ooh-ooh [Chorus] Baby, take me to the feeling I'll be your sinner in secret When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me Baby, every single minute I'll be your hero and win it When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me [Verse ] Up in the clouds, high as a kite Over the city, city We never sleep, we never try When you are with me, with me I wanna stay Oh, I wanna stay here with you, ooh-ooh-ooh [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause you make me feel like I could be driving you all night (Night) And I'll find your lips in the streetlights I wanna be there with you, ooh-ooh-ooh [Chorus] Oh, baby, take me to the feeling I'll be your sinner in secret When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me Oh, baby (Oh), every single minute (Ah-ah-ah) I'll be your hero and win it When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me [Bridge] Hold on to me, I never wanna let you go (Run away with me, run away with me) Oh-oh-oh Over the weekend, we could turn the world to gold (Run away with me, run away with me) Oh-oh-oh (We could turn the world to gold) (Oh-oh, oh-oh) Over the weekend, we could turn the world to gold Oh-oh-oh (Oh-oh-oh) [Chorus] Oh, my baby Take me to the feeling (Take me to, take me to it, yeah) I'll be your sinner, in secret (Oh, when the lights go) When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me (Just run away with me) Baby (Yeah, yeah) Every single minute (Yeah, yeah) I'll be your hero and win it When the lights go out Run away with me, run away with me [Outro] (Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh) Run away with me, run away with me (Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh) Run away with me, run away with me

Requests are open! Send me anything and everything- prompts, headcannons, and ideas are just a few of my favourite things.
If you want to be friends, DM me your favourite song lyric (it doesn't have to be Elvis!)
Tumblr media
Austin Butler Fics:
Everyday - FLUFF - (Reader has a hard day at work, Austin has a hard day at auditions, so they comfort each other.)
Dancing in the Dark - FLUFF - (Reader is struggling with her mental health, so Austin takes the time to comfort her about it.)
Hating Everything She Tries On - FLUFF - (Reader is struggling to find something to wear for her first post-Elvis date with Austin. Luckily, he's happy to help.)
One for the Money, Two for the Show - SMUT & FLUFF - (Austin wakes up in the middle of the night feeling desperate, anxious and out of control after getting the part in Elvis. You decide to give him something else to focus his frustrations on: your body.)
Wicked Little Woman - SMUT & FLUFF - (Shawn!Austin from the White Elephant SNL sketch. Reader defends him at the company Christmas party and they wind up going back to her place.)
"You Drunk?" - (Austin comes home late after being with friends. Austin’s drunk attitude takes a turn and the reader is trying to help him out, resulting in stubbornness and fluff.)
Tumblr media
Austin!Elvis Fics: (Can also be irl Elvis if you want!)
Just Pretend - FLUFF - (Elvis really misses you while he's away touring, so he calls you up to share a sweet moment together. Or at least as together as you can be.)
Young Dreams - SMUT - (Virgin!Elvis is your best friend, but after walking in on him during a private moment you realize he wants way more from you than that.)
A Fool Such as I - FLUFF - (While Elvis is on stage, Hank Snow has a few choice words for you. Elvis finds out after the show and reminds you of what's really important.)
The Wonder of You - SMUT - (Elvis and Reader decide to indulge in some sexy photography while on their honeymoon.)
Thinking About You - FLUFF - (Elvis and Reader grew up together in Memphis, but drifted apart. Now they're both famous singers reunited at an NYC press conference- will the same sparks fly?)
It's Only Love - ANGST & FLUFF - (The Colonel orders security not to let you backstage after a show. Elvis has a thing or two to say about that.)
Big Boss Man - ANGST & FLUFF - (Your boss is a jerk and there's an 11/10 chance Elvis will beat him up for you.)
The Walls Have Ears - SMUT - (Elvis sneaks you into the hall of mirrors for some sexy times.)
Elvistown Pt 1 , Pt 2 - (Basically Hadestown but Elvis is the lead. It's fluffy, fantastical, and shamelessly borrows from the musical.)
I have many more fics planned in the future, so stick around!

for the Spotify wrapped thing, 33!
Tumblr media
yes i am doing all three thank u rob ily
33 is going last because it has to go under a read more.
3. road to hell by hadestown obc - well since rob is already doing a hadestown au... 🫣
62. unrequited love (& other cliches) by breakup shoes - i think this would be a major slow burn fic, all about building their friendship and alex falling harder and faster than willie and willie being demi so he's not interested in a relationship right away, yk?? but as time goes on he does find himself with feelings.
33. something to hold on to by the band camino - well. listen. we all know this one but let me add some lyrics i've written lately for it. i may also write a post soon about thoughts i've had that didn't make it into the fic, but i still want to write companion pieces so we'll see if my writing inspiration comes back any time soon
fruit snacks:
There’s a box in the closet, or maybe there’s two  It’s on the top shelf ‘cause it reminds me of you  For the pain that it causes, it’s hidden from view  Nobody knew  It’s all for you
And I take my time shopping, I have no excuse  But the memories come knocking and ain’t it the truth  That there’s just no stopping, so I call a truce  I’ll always lose It’s no use
I throw away my receipts because they lay me bare  That I don’t know who I am without you here  And if anybody asks, it was an accident  The baseless accusations with out precedent  It’s been months and months and I haven’t heard a word  And they all think this is some punishment I’ve earned  But just in case you come back  I’ve got your goddamn fruit snacks  For if you ever come home
And the taste of strawberry is best on your lips  I’ll admit that it’s scary, I can’t get my fix  I’ve grown so fucking wary from all the conflict  What do I pick  I’m lost in this
I throw away my receipts because they lay me bare  That I don’t know who I am without you here  And if anybody asks, it was an accident  The faceless accusations with out precedent  There’s been hell to pay without you here with me  And it’s a game that I’m bound to lose clearly  But just in case you come back  I’ve got your goddamn fruit snacks  For if you ever come home
For if you ever come home,  I’ll be waiting by the door  It’s been some time,  Don’t know how long anymore  The lights are on,  Our song is playing  From dusk until the dawn and  If you’re missing me  Well, darling, I agree
haven't written the last chorus yet (just those two lines change but I haven't written them yet), but i'll get around to it at some point.
and then this is just the chorus of a song that popped into my head:
say you don’t know who I am anymore  as I beg you from my knees on the floor  you told me you didn’t know how to be friends  but I don’t know how to be alone, I begged  it’s time to see all there is to be seen  to become who we’re meant to be but that’s the hardest part, honey  is to watch you grow without me

Songs of Octavinelle
Welcome to the return of "The Songs of..." series!
How this all started is I was listening to one of my Broadway playlists and thought, "Hey! This reminds me of (insert twst character)." That single thought led me down a rabbit hole of finding songs (specifically from musicals) that match the characters! This is the second installment in my "Songs of..." series (you can listen to "Songs of Heartstyble" and "Songs of Savanaclaw" here). So without further ado: Songs of Octavinelle!
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
"Hey, Little Songbird" from Hadestown
~ The parallels between Hades and Azul are astonishing. I see Hades from Hadestown as an older version of Azul if Book 3 never happened (though there is still a high chance of him turning out like Hades). I can picture Azul singing this song to MC or any of his poor and unfortunate clients. Some lyrics that display this are: "Hey, little songbird, cat got your tongue? /Always a pity for one so pretty and young /When poverty comes to clip your wings /And knock the wind right out of your lungs /Hey, nobody sings on empty," and "Hey, little songbird, look all around you/ See how the vipers and vultures surround you/ And they'll take you down, they'll pick you clean/ If you stick around such a desperate scene/ See, people get mean when the chips are down."
Jade Leech
"My Friends" from Sweeny Todd the Deamon Barber of Fleet Street
~ The main reason I chose this song is because it gives me Jade vibes. I had a really hard time finding a song for Jade and juggling between a few, but this one stuck out for one reason, I could see jade singing it. The way Sweeny sings to his knives is the same way I imagine Jade singing to his Mushrooms. Imagine Jade singing this song to his array of Terrariums with MC singing how she is his friend he is as well. The lyrics that give me Jade vibes are: "These are my friends./ See how they glisten./ See this one shine.../ How he smiles in the light./ My friend," "My friend.../ well I've come home to find you waiting./ Home, and we're together!/ And we'll do wonders./ Won't we?" and "At last, my arm is complete again."
Floyd Leech
"That Beautiful Sound" from Beetlejuice
~ Much like my reasoning for Jade, I chose this song because Beetlejuice has the same energy as Floyd. The chaos of this song combined with the energy of Beetlejuice equals our beloved Eel! I can see Floyd and MC singing this while pulling pranks around NRC. The lyrics that scream Floyd are: "Do you hear that sound?/ That beautiful sound?/ That is the sound, of clean, white, shorts turning brown," "Panic and stress (panic and stress)/ Oh ain't it the best? (Ain't it the best)/ The sound of heart (heart)/ Exploding inside a chest (exploding inside a chest)/ It fills you with pride/ We're ruining lives/ Ain't it the sweetest noise in town, that beautiful sound?" and "They're out of my grill/ Because of that/ Shrill symphony/ Ain't it the/ Sweetest noise around/ That beautiful sound!"

ineffable husbands playlist - post-season two (an angsty list with the lyrics that remind me of them)
STORY OF US - taylor swift (i used to think one day we'd tell the story of us // how we met and the sparks flew instantly // and people would say, "theyre the lucky ones" // i used to know my place was a spot next to you // now im searching the room for an empty seat // cause lately i don't even know what page you're on // oh, a simple complication // miscommunications lead to fall out // so many things that i wish you knew // so many walls up i can't break through)
ITS OVER, ISNT IT? - from steven universe (it’s over, isn’t it, isn’t it, isn’t it over? // you won, and she chose you, and she loved you and she’s gone // it’s over, isn’t it, why can’t i move on?)
SAY YES TO HEAVAN - lana del ray (if you go, i’ll stay // you come back, i’ll be right here // like a barge at sea // in the storm, i stay clear // cause i’ve got my mind on you // i’ve got my mind on you // say yes to heaven // say yes to me // say yes to heaven // say yes to me)
FLOWERS - original broadway cast of hadestown (dreams are sweet until they're not // men are kind until they aren't // flowers bloom until they rot and fall apart // is anybody listening? // i open my mouth and nothing comes out // nothing, nothing gonna wake me now // flowers, i remember fields of flowers, soft beneath my heels // walking in the sun // i remember someone, someone by my side // turned his face to mine // and then i turned away // into the shade)
DRIVERS LICENSE - olivia rodrigo (red lights, stop signs // i still see your face in the white cars, front yards // can’t drive past the places we used to go to // cause i still fuckin' love you, babe // sidewalks we crossed // i still hear your voice in the traffic, we're laughing // over all the noise // god, im so blue, know we're through // but i still fuckin' love you, babe)
TV - billie eilish (i don't wanna talk right now // i just wanna watch tv // i’ll stay in the pool and drown // so i don't have to watch you leave)
TAKE ME TO CHURCH - hozier (take me to church // i’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies // i’ll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife // offer me that deathless death // good god, let me give you my life)
STAY WITH ME - sam smith (oh won’t you stay with me // cause you’re all i need // this ain’t love, it’s clear to see // but darlin stay with me)
SOMEONE LIKE YOU - adele (never mind, i’ll find someone like you // i wish nothing but the best for you, too // don’t forget me, i beg // i remember you said, sometimes it lasts in love, sometimes hurts instead)
WHEN SHE LOVED ME - sarah mclachlan (when somebody loved me // everything was beautiful // every hour we spent together // lives within my heart // and when she was lonely // i was there to comfort her // and i knew that she loved me // so the years went by // i stayed the same // but she began to drift away // i was left alone // still, i waited for the day // when she'd say, i will always love you)
HIDDEN IN THE SAND - tally hall (when you had to bid adieu // said you’d never love anew // i wondered if i could hold it and fall in love with it too // you told me to buy a pony but all i wanted was you)
I CANT HANDLE CHANGE - roar (nothing i do is ever good // nothing i do is ever good enough // nothing i do is ever good // i can’t help but repeat myself// i know it’s not your fault // but lately i begin to shake for no reason at all)
TALKING TO THE MOON - bruno mars (i know you’re somewhere out there, somewhere far away // i want you back // i want you back // cause every night, im talking to the moon // still trying to get to you // in hopes you're on the other side talking to me too // or am i a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?)
LOVE OF MY LIFE - queen (because what kind of ineffable husbands playlist would it be without queen?) (love of my life, you've hurt me // you’ve broken my heart, and now you leave me // love of my life, can't you see? // bring it back, bring it back, don't take it away from me // because you don't know what it means to me)
