I will forever be upset that you can't take Rolan with you when you go to save Cal and Lia. I know we already have a wizard in camp, but he would have been a great asset to Moonrise. Plus, I just love the idea of having the option to tell him we can do it together. That it doesn't have to be either or. He defeated a number of shadow-fiends and shadow crows by himself before we help him. He is more capable than he believes himself to be. It always breaks my heart to hear him say he needs to be "rescued by you, of all people". And then for him to just give up and go back to Moonrise, it just never feels right

On the idea of Theseus's Ship: in the end, it's still his, isn't it? It was known as Theseus's, and it will continue to be known as Theseus's.
Even after he has returned to the ground which grew the wood of the hammer used to nail the ship's frame, Even after generations of new wood have rotted and the sails are rags clinging to threads, Even after millennia,
it will still be Theseus's Ship.
Thank you for bringing us home.
Goodnight, Phosphophyllite.

man I mean just. the SMFS album lettering is made of clay. the cover art is an actual physical painting. there's a lot less fx on the album as a whole than Mania (which is NOT a knock on my bbg Mania btw, just pointing out the different approach) or even SRAR and ABAP. the songs sound basically the same live as they do on the record because the production is so minimal. they have a huge vinyl dog head onstage with them, that they touch and interact with and talk to (and, in Pete's case, get eaten by). the attic scene is made by lowering a piece of rigging to literally make the stage smaller. there's actually a LOT of sets especially comparatively to their previous tours, the rigging around the stage is done up almost as a physical frame for it. they only have one screen onstage and it's small, its purpose is to be the 8-ball and to add a little bit of texture to the wider design. the backdrops, even the new desert scene for 2ourdust, are physical backdrops — one of which was made by one of Pete's kids — not LED or projections. the album title is made of clay. it's about existing in the world, making things so you feel alive, making the world a little more fuckin weird! do you get it yet?

Bro… the best day of their lives and the worst night they ever experienced happening back to back… pain and beauty being so closely interlinked. The push that day, night, and the outcome gave Sammie to pursue music. Sammie having nightmares for the rest of his life, well into his graying years, but never regretting the day he had at the Juke Joint.
Stack and Mary finally being able to be happy together, at the cost of the freedom of their spirits. Joy and community that can be found within dreadful circumstances. I Lied to You, a song about the conflict and separation between father and son that is transformed into communal connection. The song sung at the catalyst night, and that cements Sammie’s path as a musician. Pain that is turned into art that turns into freedom.
Delta Slim transitioning from a traumatic recollection into an improvised song as he mourns a dear friend who was lynched. That maybe in a better world art shouldn’t have to be made out of suffering, nor suffering transformed into art, but with the history that exists and the world we live in, what other choice is there?
#these are kinda some disorganized thoughts that I had on the nature of art as it’s shown through the movie#but it’s a really incredible display of how pain can be twisted into a point of connection for a people#it’s a sign of resilience to do so—even though it’s awful that people have to do it#but in particular for me was Delta Slim turning from mourning to singing—because what else is there to do?#he’s already fallen to pieces. he drinks heavily (self medicating). what else can he do but use his pain?#mourn through his music and artwork. express it externally.#the only other option is to cry. and after years of an unresolved pain… still crying must be exhausting.#so. the day and night of joy and trauma. how one leads to the other which leads to the other#not everyone makes it out of the Juke. it’s only Sammie and Smoke#and Smoke dies soon after#so it’s not as though Coogler is saying that trauma is a unilateral good; no way#but it’s a recognition that pain in some people can be harnessed into something constructive. and that has the power for change#in other people though. pain leads to destruction. destruction of the self and others#seen in. nearly everyone. Delta. Smoke and Stack (in their own ways). Annie and Mary and Pearline and let’s be honest: Remmick#everyone else in the Juke.#it’s a tragic and incredible nuance provided to the role of trauma in forming and maintaining community#sinners#sinners spoilers#sinners 2025#sinners meta#sinners analysis#my post

One of the weirder parts of being formally tested for autism as an adult—apart from the hellscape of hours of math hell—was that they kept asking me for my conclusions or opinions about things I had very little knowledge of. These weren't basic facts you'd expect someone to pick up in the course of a standard US education, and I kept repeating that I would have to do actual research to form opinions on subjects I had no significant information about.
Obviously, "not opinionated" isn't a major problem for me when I do have a reasonable amount of information, but my eventual diagnosis specifically mentioned that I kept repeating that I would have to do more research to acquire the necessary baseline of data for forming opinions on [whatever], and that the phrasing of my various refusals tended to be identical or very similar (I didn't see any need to alter my wording when I was simply repeating the same position over and over).
*cough*
Anyway this is also about Star Trek. (Surprise.) I knew Spock would be relatable before we started the grand TOS watch, but did not expect him to be the most relatable character on television ever, and his continual refusals to deliver opinions without enough data for informed theories was actually a big part of this.

Do you ever think about how tragic of a character Loop is?
There's the obvious point, that Loop didn't have anyone to talk to. No one to bounce ideas off of, no one to pull them from their thoughts, no one to make them take a step back and think of something else. Due to who they are, they were never going to tell their party. They were never going to ask for help.
But, then, we see the party reach out to them. And Loopfrin, despite being happy about FINALLY experiencing something new, they don't tell them. They keep it to themself. And then, when defeating the King doesn't work, they make a new wish.
A wish, for someone, anyone, to help them.
But think about it. Who could've helped Loopfrin? Loopfrin doesn't ask for help, and doesnt accept help when offered. Loopfrin wouldn't have accepted anyone... except themself.
Siffrin doesn't ask for help, and doesn't accept help. Siffrin tells themself everything is fine, constantly living in denial and repressing their emotions so hard because they like to act like they don't exist. No one could've helped Siffrin, except someone who understood that. Someone who understands the ways Siffrin's mind works, inside and out.
Loop was the only person who could've helped Siffrin. Loop was the only person Siffrin would've accepted help from.
Loop's existence is necessary for Siffrin to make it out. Even that final loop, Siffrin didn't tell their family about their loops, it was Loop! Siffrin never opens up about their feelings until they are so worn down and already exposed!!! Loop had to be the one to tell them, otherwise, Siffrin wouldn't have made it!
Siffrin would always need Loop. No one else could ever work. No one else would've been able to help them and know what to do for them.
Loopfrin never stood a chance from the start.

I do think it’s a conscious and deliberate choice on anne’s part to follow up on louis + claudia’s book (iwtv) with a sequel constructed from the perspective of their parent (lestat), and to also follow up armand’s book (tva) with a sequel also constructed from the perspective of his vampiric parent (marius). she’s deliberately playing with differences in perspective to reveal and/or obfuscate abuse - in particular the parental kind which is the most fundamental relationship in her constructed universe. it isn’t particularly a coincidence that the vampires continue to owe their lives to ‘those who must be kept’ i.e. the ‘MOTHER’ and the ‘FATHER’ and that any harm inflicted on them is reflected onto their selves and translates into total obliteration of their consciousnesses unless they curry eternal favour with them.

do you guys ever think about how they don't let sotheby grieve. bc i do. i think about it a lot. do you guys ever think about how sotheby lost everything. do you ever think about how nobody told her. do you ever think about how she had no idea that that conversation with mr. karson was going to be her last. about how she called his name expecting him to be there. about how she was excited to see the rain! about how she was fascinated with how it reversed directions! she quite literally had no idea! she's a sheltered girl and no one told her! when the gastrointestinal disease spreads mr. karson says it's affecting the entire staff of the manor. do you guys ever think about how they must've been people sotheby had seen and interacted with every day before the storm. likely the ONLY people she interacted with. and none of them are alive anymore. she lost her entire life to the storm save for her parents and we don't even know where they are! do you ever think about how she's in an entirely new place with new people and of course it could've been worse, of course she's made friends but do you think about what she's lost! and do you think about how she smiles through it! no time is spent on how she feels about all of this. she could've been angry that everyone knew, and that no one thought her mature enough to handle it. i think she would've had every right to be upset with vertin after that but instead she devoted herself to helping her. do you guys ever think about this. where is everyone it's so dark in here
