My stubbornness has been kicking my creativity in the butt since early this evening, and I can happily report that I'm making progress in my drafts for the first time in ages. oh no, accidentally awake at 4am which means it's feel-weird-about-things time 🤡

#fandom behavior and archival tendencies are both inherently weirdo behavior but also so very important #so many niche interests of mine just vanish into the depths of time and the internet as accounts get deleted and websites go down #so many videos i used to love that I'll never see again. so much of my own art and writing gone with old fansites in the 2000s #so many things i wish i could see or read or experience again just gone forever and it makes sme want to hoard EVERYTHING #but then i feel SUPER WEIRD for hoarding stuff about bands because they're just... some dudes. across the planet. so, i once saw a self-professed data/media hoarder on tumblr whose media storage server was publicly accessible. (it had movies and tv shows and such; unfortunately i can’t find any trace of it.) i think a setup like that would be best for preserving documentation of the palestinian genocide — those news stories/images/videos need to be saved before they're scrubbed, but they won't do much good sitting on individuals' hard drives.

so we need a centralized repository that can stay up for as long as possible. ideally, anyone would be able to view it, and any vetted person would be able to add to it (vetting to limit the risk of sabotage).

long shot, but are there any data-hoarders/internet archivists/etc. on here who would be interested in helping out with that effort, or taking it on themselves?

edited to add a little context: i could easily automate the scraping of posts from instagram, tiktok, and maybe twitter and tumblr*. it’s the hosting that i’d need help with.

*i don’t think anybody is sharing firsthand documentation on tumblr, but we’ve got a lot of copies of things that may have been deleted elsewhere.

Thinking to myself “man it’s a good thing there nine mechanisms to project my disabilities onto, wouldn’t want people to think I’m headcanoning them to have an unrealistic amount of issues.” When it’s like, I have all these issues! And some people have way more comorbidities than me!

#the mechanisms #i don’t only hc my disabilties onto them #like the LM/MC. someone i am close with has that. not me #but still i project *mostly* issues i have or similar #like i definitely dont have ocd but i have enough similaries in symptoms and my anxiety has previously manifested with ocd tendencies #as well as anxiety driven delusions. that it makes sense to just. like. tick it up a bit more for the hc #obviously research is done re conditions i dont have #but also the words are easier that way #it *hard* to explain my symptoms that overlap and muddle with other disorders so it doesnt make sense to do so for a hc #not when im describing it for my own purposes and not typically if i were to be discussing it w #it with someone else #anyway its ivy. i think that makes sense #part of me also wants to headcanon her to be a hoarder #because i struggle with that #but i think shes a good archivist and those seem to be mutually exclusive #unless she is hoarding non library/archive things i suppose #this isn’t just about ocd this is about many many things #my body doesnt work right and it does so in ways people just Never Talk About….#the point is that if i headcanoned one character to have all the same exact problems i do it would seem excessive #when its not its just my life #and again other people have way more comorbidies than me!#fun fact: all your body shit is connected to all your other body shit

that period of time between south park post covid being announced in 2021 to summer 2022 when everyone got obsessed with truffula flu was moderately heavenly

#i'm going through all my chronological memory hoarding playlists from late 2013 to now #taken all day but i'm currently on around june 2022 and it's so nostalgic #but like that entire time was unreal #never forget south park post covid announcement literally curing me of like 2 years worth of on and off depression #i was like still weakly crawling out of the abyss and then adult scientist philanthropist kenny jsut yanked me out of there so easily #no warning #and then i was fine. it was so funny to me like i was in the middle of my eateot induced existential crisis where i couldn't sleep and then #everything was just normal? literally whatever episode of my life i was in had ended and everything reset for the next episode #which was such a good episode as well. and then the tflu era??#reading every existing camp entre blog within a month #and then the swag and bitter archives. literally the summer of all time #not just for that i mean it was just a good summer anyway #the only logical direction for life to go in after that was down bc i'd literally peaked for about 8 months #but it was a good time while it lasted #this was meant to be a happy ''remember the good times'' post but how come i'm only allowed to be happy for like a year at most #but i'm allowed to be in the abyss for 2 years #hopefully not longer bc i'm only now just getting over the cursed half of 2022 that doesn't exist to me (sep-dec)#but like. 2015 and first part of 2016 good. 2016-2018 bad #end of 2018 and most of 2019 good. end of 2019-summer 2021 bad #end of 2021-summer 2022 good. end of 2022-now bad #the maths does not add up #anyway shoutout november 2021-july 2022 i love you soooooooo much you were so sexy <3 #(apart from the agoraphobia but that was part of the fun)#(like i'd be out in public and i'd see a pic of entre on my phone and i guess too much serotonin would be released in my brain and i'd get #anxiety and have to go home and i couldn't eat in public and i basically couldn't leave the house)#(because i was too obsessed with tflu)#(that wasn't the main reason it was mostly a wild fear of food poisoning from anything. but tflu didn't help and that is so cool of it)#(truly an iconic time. okay stop talking)#ramble

cannot recommend enough the combo of nianeyna's ao3downloader on github along with fanficfare as a calibre plug-in

the ability to download 15 pages of fic from a tag directly into my calibre library with a single url, a handful of text commands, copy+paste, and some patience is [chef's kiss]

#i encourage everyone to indulge in file hoarding #more than once i've had a copy of a fic that was deleted/lost for whatever reason because i compulsively downloaded it after reading #speaking of which i really need to finish copying my files over from the Crash™#i had a sq archive to begin to format into my calibre library
