Look if some of you do do not like what's going on whether you have voter's regret or not, I have some actual helpful advice for you. Be proactive. I was a social justice warrior before it was cool and I helped my mother get our roads paved. In fact I even pushed for Armenian genocide recognition and got it into law. It takes a wicked long time but I know change really does happen if you push for it.

1.) Sign petitions or start them. Words mean nothing, votes are dubious, but actions mean everything. Don't go out of your way to make a sob story online for sympathy points. It's going to open up a lot of negativity directed towards you. You put your words to action. Share your petitions or talk to somebody you know is interested in such a thing.

2.) Donate to organizations that support your community or cause. But make sure they are reputable. Dig deep.

3.) Contact your state representatives, your national representatives, your senators, etc.

4.) Some people just want you to conform to their worldview, and don't even listen to those idiots online just because they are popular. Or not. Some of them don't even make sense or argue anything in depth and just only do that to spew their feelings. I read articles online but I like to rely on the brand of a website and it's reputation first.

5.) Get involved in your town hall.

6.) Stick to issues that are close to your heart no matter how unpopular it is over the internet or if it isn't the current hot topic. So many young people just drop an issue just to fit in not to actually help out. Don't do that.

7.) You know these politicians have websites, blogs, and works of actual politicians and political science majors and experts. They spend a lot of money to make sure their platform is heard loud and clear.

8.) Don't judge a book by their cover, darling. A manic panic loving alt kid with ugly glasses isn't always left leaning for that matter, and looks aren't an indicator that somebody is left or right. Sometimes you can rely on the gym bro with starting and attending a protest.

9.) Go out there and actually attend dialogues and events hosted within your community. They let you ask questions about things you don't understand unlike some popular youtubers. That's how I got started. I just listened to some dialogues my church.

10.) Vote wisely next time. Once you cast a ballot you cannot change it. Everything is irreversible.

new little guy just dropped: we're going to talk about jane lu. also known as janey or baby jane if you're friends. a very normal girl because i only write girls who are so normal (see the rest of my roster for proof).

tw for possession, horror themes. nothing graphic, but like, symptoms of mysterious conditions.

currently a philosophy major in her third year at college. doesn't totally know what she plans on doing with her degree yet. fairly decent at school, smart enough to pass but doesn't put an excessive amount of effort in. mostly average in everything else; she's got a good amount of friends but isn't insanely popular, mostly hangs out with the arts and other philosophy majors. not a fan of the sorority/fraternity lifestyle. really Just Some Guy when you think about it.

a month or so prior to her current arc: during a late night off-campus party in the woods, jane and a few acquaintances wandered off to a remote part and began a game of truth or dare that resulted in ... something? jane got dared to jump off a ledge and into a lake below — when she failed to resurface from the water, her companions (most of them intoxicated, we assume; they're college kids) assumed the worst and ran off in a panic. meanwhile (after an indefinite period of time) jane found herself washed up by the edge of the lake, not entirely sure what happened. in her blackout, she came into contact with an amorphous (possibly alien) parasitic life-form who took up a convenient refuge in her body, healing any injuries and obscuring a portion of that night's memory. jane returned to her dorm and went on as if nothing had occurred, much to the confusion and suspicions of others. a real "don't care, didn't ask" kind of attitude on her part. i think she kinda assumes that waking up by a lake without any recent memory is a normal occurrence for college? idk she didn't look into it. i mean, kind of. she figures that something weird happened, but can't find a logical explanation.

now she's experiencing symptoms, as one does when you become a host to a life-form that feeds on your sanity and possibly has a nefarious motives. jane is only semi-aware of the changes happening to her at the moment; she's more impulsive, experiencing heightened and occasionally volatile emotions, has quicker reflexes and reactions to things than she did before. the really short explanation is that she's possessed by an entity similar to like, venom or carnage from m*rvel. we know how that goes.

when the parasite begins to take control, it will gravitate towards bodies of water and direct jane towards it, submerging her. this is usually when she blacks out and cannot remember the rest. even when the parasite is unconscious, jane exhibits a resistance to injury and illness that she did not have before, even able to heal some wounds.

personality-wise: we're still learning her behaviors and how she goes about doing things, but for the most part, she's just some guy. probably similar to any friend you might have in college. lives off convenience store foods, can't be trusted to drive a car, probably just shitposts on tw*tter a lot. the people in her immediate circle call her "baby jane" - i'll probably refer to her as that pretty often too. she's a bit snarky, has a dark sense of humor (may make some jokes in reference to her condition from time to time if it's within trustworthy circles). impulsive even before possession (she did not hesitate to jump off the ledge for a second), but becoming more so now. as the parasite's presence persists and remains in her body even while dormant, she starts to lose to sight of her reality. becomes more aggressive to others and desensitized to the grotesque and horrific circumstances. as she and the parasite grow closer, she begins to learn how to sense its conscious thoughts, which have begun to overlap with her own. often finds herself feeling hungry, but not necessarily for food. she doesn't know what it is she wants yet.

other influences (aside from venom and adjacent stories): julia ducournau's raw (2016), david cronenberg's rabid (1977) and the fly (1986), the aesthetic vibes of nell tiger free in the first omen (2024), andrzej żuławski's possession (1981), a small amount of ginger snaps (2000).

kind of still figuring this out as i go. building and developing her through interactions. feel free to ask questions as we go, i probably don't know the answers yet but i'll find out. in summation: it's that one tweet that's like "went to college and came back wrong" taken more literally.

About a year ago, I made my very first caption and since that first post, my blog has grown to over 400+ unique captions and more than thousands of likes and reblogs. With the low amounts of traffic that Tumblr has compared to other competing sites, I've never would have thought I would reach that level without your support. Yet, here I am, giving you guys and girls an occasional post.

Some of my older posts have been gaining traction for the past few weeks. Whether it's a reblog from me or from another fellow blog, it's a great feeling when I see a "forgotten" caption gain a renew of interest. But it feels even more unbelievable when a caption reaches a level you never thought was possible.

That being said, here are a few captions that have amassed over 1000+ likes and reblogs that I would like to share with you. Enjoy the post!

Number 7: Inspiring trans girls since forever

With over 1023+ likes and reblogs, this is a collection of pictures from transgender women who have been an influence for us. Some are well-known influencers and celebrities like Remi Richards and Kim Petras, others are occasional internet posters like Mikaela Ville and Michelle Alter, and some want to live normal like Ella Page. This collection is undeniably my favorite because they display actual trans women, hormones or not, and have been a few of my inspirations from growing up to right now.

Number 6: Remembering your first

My very first caption is from a well known drawing of a girl embracing her feminine side. It's a feel of ecstatic energy when you see your true self so happy looking back at you for the first time. With around 1,123+ likes and reblogs, it really resonates with a lot of people who love their femininity.

Number 5: Coming out the first time

With around 1,190+ likes and reblogs, this caption speaks volumes of how we react to our coming out. Due to current social stigma, many cisgender people often lump trans women as sissies, crossdressers, traps, and other unflattering names and slurs. The only thing we can do is to keep our heads up and walk out with grace. It's best to ignore with bigots like those, but it's also wise to keep an eye out.

Number 4: Desires

At around 1250+ likes and reblogs, this post surprised me the most! Although it was popular when I first uploaded it, it really didn't spike until recent reblogs were made! It seems that a lot of you also have a bit of gender envy, haha! But can I blame you? She's such a babe, it would be so much better being her than dating her, especially the nice rewards she will get on a nights' out. ;)

Bronze prize is the HRT post. At 1,279+ posts and reblogs, it's the third most popular post in my blog. This one was one of my first posts as you can tell by the font and the color scheme of the main caption. I'll be honest: I'm not really fond of it as I used to since it seems a little "sexualizing". To be fair, it was inspired by a caption I saw in an old "feminization hypnosis" video that is now gone. Still, that doesn't mean I fully regret making this caption as it gave me more motivation to improve my caption skills. I also remade this caption into a bunch of segments. Number 2: Simplicity is sexy

At exactly 1,350+ likes and reblogs, this caption takes the silver prize! It's incredible because this is one of several captions that resonated with a lot of you! I'm lowkey, happy that we have something in common.

I can't deny it is a sexy way of embracing femininity. All one needs is a pair of black leggings and a white tank top to appeal even the most normal of guys. Meanwhile, the women would definitely feel a sense of jealousy based on how a simple outfit compliments those curves of yours. Bonus if you have long black hair, but any haircut and hair color would do. Give this outfit a try and I'll guarantee you will feel so euphoric. I know from experience ;)

But as sexy as this caption is, this one was only a few numbers away from the crown, or tiara if you like being a princess. Before I unveil the ultimate winner, I want to share an honorable mention that may ring a bell for you:

This one is less popular than the previous entries as it only has around 708+ likes and reblogs. So why is it ahead of the other one? Because the caption was reposted by a fellow blog with better exposure. In fact, I actually reblogged that post as a way of saying thanks. With the way blogs come and go, I don't really mind if my work gets reposted on several blogs. It's just a way of preserving a legacy if a blog disappears one day. Oh, and combining that repost with my upload, this caption has over 2,222 likes and reblogs!

Number 1: Coming out divine

If 3rd place questioned your decision, and 2nd place answered that affirmation, then 1st place is definitely well into your change. With over 1,367+ likes and reblogs, it is by far my most popular creation! This one was very difficult to make as it required a lot of editing from the original video, as well as making the GIF without a lot of slowdown. The end result came out better than I thought. A major plus what that it was a Vine video, which lasted less than 7 seconds. However, I am not planning on remaking this GIF for three reasons: I lost the original and edited files, it was a PITA to make, and I would rather not mess with finished perfection. If anything, I would just make the GIF bigger than it is.

You can take a guess why it's so popular. From her hot body, her sexy outfit, nice curves, and the way she sways and moves, she is goals! I definitely had gender envy and gender crush at the same time! Did I want to be her or to date her? To quote a period-correct meme, why not both? Btw, the woman in the GIF is... well, all I can say is she is one of Justin Bieber's exes and subsequently had minor hit song back a few years ago.

But why are there so many people running for student council president? It’s so annoying having so many rivals I gotta defeat!

Putting that ninja aside, I’ve never even heard of most of the candidates’ names.

I’m taken aback since these guys just popped up under the radar and started blocking my path all of a sudden.

Shinobu: That would be because you didn’t do enough research, right…?

Touri: What’d you say?

Shinobu: Eek! Um, they should be nothing compared to you since you took part in the “SS” Main Stage and there are also lots of units at school…

It seems those representing the slower units and the like have all started moving at once to gain power over the next generation.

It’s going to be a thorn in your side… No, it’s like they’re waiting for the amazing upperclassmen to graduate before they aim for the top of Yumenosaki in one leap.

Besides, the Yumenosaki idols basically monopolised “SS” the other day so…

It’s become important to gain titles such as the student council president of Yumenosaki or Yumenosaki’s most popular idol.

Touri: So you’re saying those riffraffs are motivated because they want those titles and distinctive labels?

Shinobu: I don’t think that way of putting it is exactly correct, but it’s more or less like that.

Also, there are some from the new “producer course” who are running for it too ~de gozaru.

If anything, they seem to stand out more right now.

Touri: The “producer course”. Hmph. Now that’s a real rising power.

Shinobu: Yeah. It seems doing political things is also part of their job so we can’t make light of them, either. They’re really good at manoeuvring behind-the-scenes to gain votes.

Touri: Anzu was terrible with that sort of stuff, though… She’s an airhead and just ended up handling it in a similar fashion.

But it means the “producer course” will be doing it intentionally and practically.

Touri: It’s the other way around. They must be looking down on the position, thinking it looks easy enough for them to handle.

Mao: Himemiya, you’re moved from sixth to seventh place. It’s not bad but personally, I’d like you to try a bit harder.

Touri: I am trying… I’ll be able to leap straight into first place if I combine my votes with the ninja’s. In other words, I would’ve won if he didn’t take all my votes.

Shinobu: It makes me sad to see you branding me as a thief… Wouldn’t it be better for you to focus on the one who’s in the lead right now? That Hashidate person?

Touri: I don’t even know who that is. Who are they?

Mao: Who knows…? The “producer course” feels like a whole ‘nother country, so even I don’t have that much information on them despite being the student council president.

I was curious and asked Anzu about it but it looks like this Hashidate person is acting on their own and isn’t affiliated with the “Peace Party” – the strongest power in the “producer course”.

It looks like they’ve just transferred to the “producer course” recently.

Yuzuru: A transfer student at this time of the year?

It should be normal for transfer students such as myself and Anzu-san to transfer during the new school year instead.

Touri: Anyway, why is a transfer student getting so many votes? Isn’t that weird?

Are they someone famous in another industry or something?

Shinobu: It’s a mystery. I was thinking the same thing so I looked up celebrities and well-known people, but I couldn’t find someone who ticked all those boxes.

At Chesterfield Arts Centre we were interviewed by a local youth called Zig [Mark Webber] who wrote a fanzine called Cosmic Pig. Pulp were genuinely weird no two ways about it, but I'm not sure we've ever been weirder than that night. Magnus was off his head on something, possibly fly agaric mushrooms; I was barking at Manners’ dodgy mates, who were trying to nick things with the thousand-yard stare of a Miners’ Strike veteran; and the seemingly sound-limbed singer kept sitting down in a wheelchair. It freaked poor old Zig out, but in a good way, because he came to all the concerts after that. [Russell Senior, Freak Out the Squares, 2015]

PULP the next "big thing"?

If there is some truth behind all this talk that there will be another big change in the perception of popular music in 1986. Then the only band who I think will do it is PULP - the most useful thing to come out of Sheffield since Stainless Steel.

RUSSELL - Russell Senior, MAGNUS - Magnus Doyle, PETER - Peter Mansell, CANDIDA - Candida Doyle

How did Pulp start?

RUSSELL Jarvis, the lead singer (and the only member of the band who has been there since the start), started it at school, about five years ago. The current line-up dates from when we were doing a surreal play in and around Sheffield about two years ago.

Who thought of the name?

RUSSELL - Jarvis, I think. If you look in the dictionary, it means a kind of fiction in the 30's, very trashy and with gaudy colours, but at the same time, it was quite deep. I think that's a lot like us, we're trashy and gaudy and unsofisticated.

What do you think of Chesterfield?

RUSSELL - We played our worst two gigs here. The last one was at Gotham, that was pretty terrible, and before that, Adam & Eves. People were trying to bodypop to us - it didn't work.

Is Jarvis really the leader, on and off stage?

MAGNUS - Well he's been in Pulp from the start so I suppose it does rotate around him, but I don't call him a leader.

PETER - I don't look at it like that.

Who are you influenced by?

MAGNUS - We are original.

RUSSELL - I think I can honestly say that Pulp as a band isn't influenced by anyone. The only band I think we all like is Sham 69.

CANDIDA - Oh no.

RUSSELL - Anyone who's heard us knows that we're nothing like them. I prefer classical music. Some of the others like punk, the Fall, Jarvis likes ballads and film themes.

At what point did you stop being a Sheffield band, in order to go national?

RUSSELL - Really, this past year has been full of touring and trying to lose that label.

What kind of person comes to see your concerts?

MAGNUS - I don't know, I rarely meet them.

RUSSELL - The people who don't come to see us are like the hip scene. We're not a hip band in Sheff. I guess we attract your average interesting youth on the street, not trendies.

What do you think of Sheffield, opportunity wise?

MAGNUS - It's alright.

PETER - There's plenty of places to play.

Would you rather be somewhere like London?

PETER - No, it's too big.

Are you content in being at your present status?

RUSSELL - Yes, but if 50 people come to see us, I'd rather there be 500 and if we sell 5 records, I'd rather sell 50 and I'd shun anyone who doesn't think that.

Did your last EP sell well?

RUSSELL - It did O.K. , considering that it didn't receive airplay. It got more-or-less banned everywhere because of its lyrics. The A-side got taken off Radio Hallam halfway through. If the next one isn't banned, we reckon it'll do well.

What will the next A-side be?

RUSSELL - Probably 'Mark Of The Devil' (or maybe the excellent 'Dogs Are Everywhere'.) It will be out in March / April.

Do you think that it will sell better?

RUSSELL - It can't help but do so, 'Little Girl' wasn't danceable, they played it in the disco's and people kept tripping up. It was too risque to play on the radio, but not shocking enough to get mothers writing in saying we're corrupting the youth of Britain. It was banned but not hyped.

Can you see yourselves getting to number one?

RUSSELL - Realistically, I don't think it's gonna happen.

If you were asked, would you appear on T.O.T.P.?

CANDIDA - I wouldn't, I don't like it.

Rest - Yeah, why not?

CANDIDA - I'd have to then!

So with Nicky and most of the other girls, I went with two options, and with Nicky I went with these two: a pixie cut so that pesky hair is just too short to be a problem, or literally my hairstyle on the regular at home. Seriously, I took a picture of myself in the mirror to get a ref, and I have my hair done up like this right now haha. It's very practical, which is very Nicky! Violet is pretty, she is grace, and she likes to slay in a subtle way <3 honestly I just looked at typical hairstyles in modern Chinese culture (ya'll don't understand it's a very particular aesthetic flavor), and I found some I felt were elegant, refined, and understated enough for Violet to consider. The one to the left is just a stereotypical hairstyle for a Chinese woman in her prime, very luscious locks, very well-groomed, my mom had something like it for a while and she slayed <3

The second one is a bit newer-- it's based on the iconic C-drama half-up-half-down topknot, and probably would be heaven for people with thick hair who don't wanna put it totally up. I dunno, I think it's a neat idea, but I just love her canon fringe cut too much </3

Paulina's was tricky to research, because not only did I like her simple braid, but also because Peruvian women just love their braids! If anything they loved them so much that Paulina's looked so bare bones in comparison-- colored threads, ribbons, little bobbles at the end-- so much color and decorations! I didn't go overboard with it since Paulina would still prioritize comfort and her shy ass not wanting too much attention (/aff), but y'know sometimes loving yourself is adding some colorful ribbons and cute knotted threads into your braids <:]

(Important thing to note here, these braids are more suited to being draped behind the back rather than on the shoulders-- it was tricky conveying that in a short amount of time haha)

Colette follows fashion, and apparently Parisian fashion says beautifully messy hair is the way to go (which explains why her early design went so ham with the waves and curls on her hair haha). She'd also follow the main trends so I wasn't exactly sure what to do. If anything I'd lean more to the one to the right because it's more prominent and hey, the fringe-ish cut is now open seeing I changed Violet's hairstyle to have hair parted to the side :3c

I didn't wanna shoot myself in the foot by drawing curls at 1AM, and I had to take into account the fact that she wouldn't really want afro-ish styles because I dunno how that'd be practical when she's consistently doing stuff like baking and mechanic work, sooooo I went with the (rather popular) idea of giving her cornrows or dreads! Dreads in this case because again, lazy and I am staying up a whole hour longer than I was intending (I have school in the morning), it is a popular headcanon for a reason! Pam just looks really good with this kind of style!

He’s friends with A listers and working with them, he’s signed on for big movies and has Dior connections. of course, you’re going to think you’ve bagged yourself an upcoming movie star, and I’m sure it would seem very exciting imagining a future with him and what that could mean for her career personally. how could she not?!!

of course, he wasn’t lying when he told her he wasn’t looking for a relationship right now, and that’s gotta be a huge let down, not just opportunity-wise but especially if she genuinely liked him. to put it in her own words from her titkok “to state the obvious, I didn’t get my perfect fantasy.”

Always, always, always listen to someone when they tell you what they want or are looking for in a relationship. They usually aren’t lying and they aren’t going to change their mind. That is how you get hurt. It took me a long time to listen to that advice. I was getting myself in situations where I got hurt past her current age, because I wasn’t listening! I would get in my head and start confusing sex with love and imagination. It’s not healthy!

but I see where she’s coming from. It hurts and it sucks and it’s a tough pill to swallow. Feeling wanted and needed but only from sex, is not a happy feeling. She will hopefully learn from this and listen in the future. But you can’t blame her for wanting more and trying to get it, because it’s an EASY trap to fall into.

I mean, the post doesn't come off as identity politicking to me? Unless you're looking at the identity group of alive people anyway. You could argue that guys was meant to complain about male authors, but those posts usually bluntly complain about men (or white men specifically) rather than a term that can be used more sex-neutrally, and she's complaining on behalf of modern authors rather than singling out a group like BIPOC women or whatever.

And like... those are two very impactful works in the genre that absolutely can be credited with much of its expansion and success, with a clear influence on many of the works that followed it. They've lasted for decades while a lot of the books that have had successful numbers since have gone on to be footnotes in discussion of the genre, if not forgotten altogether. There's a valid reason why stores would choose to prioritize very successful stories that are known to be well crafted and resonate with people to this day over stories that are more narrow in who they speak to or have shallower world building--which is most of them. Especially during a time when people have less spending money, and when they're trying to make it as a physical store selling physical books with fucking Amazon and its Kindle Unlimited service as competition. There's a logic to thinking readers who still like physical shopping and holding paper books are also going to appreciate classics.

But it is also a fair complaint for those currently living authors. B&N changed how they stock books a few years back to (shock and horror) prioritize titles that have a track record of already selling well. The overwhelming majority of any work in any medium is, well, mid, but there are always new gems that could be coming out. With the current state of the publishing industry and their increased dependence on the author to be an influencer and do their own marketing, a work with the power of Wheel of Time or Lord of the Rings might have come out in 2021 and languished in obscurity due to lack of interest by the publisher in properly advertising it, and now you can't find it on shelves because B&N is cutting back on what they stock to bank more on things that they already know will sell.

(Kind of like the criticism of Hollywood being overdependent on reboots and sequels of proven IP. Except book world tends to leave a little more control of those IP in author hands, so you get bi-annual releases of new collectors editions of popular big name series instead of forced sequels.)

Granted, word of mouth sales are not a good thing to hedge your success on and the odds of bookshelf discovery being what makes or breaks your career rather than getting good marketing, or the promotion of an influencer, or just being put on one of the display tables rather than a shelf is going to make more of a difference. But it still helps to actually have your book be physically available in a store if you're hoping for people to buy it.

Basically, while most of the people bemoaning the situation probably weren't going to be the next great author anyway and B&N is catering to their audience by making the popular books widely available, it is still a real and valid complaint that industry milking the success stories is overshadowing new author's chances to get more readers.

Also, while I haven't read them, Fonda Lee's books are pretty commonly placed on most big fantasy personalities' best contemporary fantasy lists. I couldn't say where her writing ranks quality-wise when placed against the genre classics, but I wouldn't dismiss her out of hand as just being jealous that she can't tell a good story. As I understand it, her books sell well. This all comes across more to me like an author who has seen success trying to raise awareness for how the current state of the book industry (the book selling side, in this case) can thwart the chances of discovery for newer authors in general, rather than complaining about how she personally was slighted, or how some identity group is being targeted.

TL;DR reads more like common griping about the state of the book world and not identity politics.

i was falling asleep but had to get up and come express this sort of epiphany i had and just put it out there somewhere in the world

So, friendship grief huh. I know it's a legit thing and that grief has phases not necessarily the ones popular in like tv but they exist. Now I'm in a weird phase past me didn't expect. I feel sad that I won't have her friendship in the future. I'm not sad about ending our friendship because she was being a bitch to me towards the end, but I'm sort of missing what won't have a chance to happen. I'm not gonna see her marry, I'm not gonna attend her exhibition openings. She's not gonna celebrate my career oportunities, she's not gonna meet my friends. We're not gonna be drunk-silly and we're not gonna be silly after half an hour of constant banter. We were best friends for 2 out of 4 years we were in contact. We got to know each other at such a deep level, deeper than ever until then. I couldn't imagine a future where we weren't by each other's side suporting one another. I used to hype her so much. I hope she has someone to hype her nowadays. Should I tell her these things? Probably best not to. For so long I was so angry and shocked with her. Then I finally got a while without thinking about her, ocasionally she'd come up in thought and I'd have a flash of anger again, but today, when she came up in thought again, I was just sad. So I wanted to understand why I was sad. As I said, I'm not sad for what happened in the past, I'm sad for what won't happen in the future. I'm sad I won't have that best friend with me and that I won't be with her, that nice version that I got to know so well for a while. I know people change and evolve that's not my problem or concern or anything, it's really just these feelings and mourning this alive person I guess, but that's not really it, if she changed I'm mourning a past version, and that's not really fair, but I have nothing else to go on from. I used to try and imagine what I would do if I saw her in the street when I was angry. Would I say a bitchy remark, would I ignore her, would I give her a fuming look. I started avoiding the places we had in common, even if I felt deprived of them, I didn't want to risk seeing her and being mean. Now, I think I'd just be sad if I saw her. I don't know what I would do, but I know I would be invaded with sadness. Maybe in the future I will imagine diferent outcomes altogether, or I won't think of her at all. Maybe, maybe not. With time everything passes, but this took me by surprise today. I wanted to be there with her in the future, I don't currently want that if it meant it was the last version of her I saw, and I don't know how I would even start a friendship with a new version of her, someone with the face of a being I know I won't be able to ever be as close to again. Maybe that's a sentiment that can change in the future too, but I don't think it's wise trying to be her friend again. If anything, she would have to take the first step, she didn't even apolagize at the end. I don't think I trully want that though. I don't wish that things had gone diferently either because everything is in direct correlation with everything else in someone's life, and I'm living my current life, I don't know and don't feel the need to think about how my life would be otherwise. So I'm at a sort of impasse aren't I? I'm sad she won't be my friend again, but I don't want to be her friend again. Maybe it's not as contradictory as it sounds at first. That's fine, I can acept it. I hope the fallout we had didn't affect my mom's view of the painting I gifted her, bought from that ex-friend. It's still a good painting, she's still a good artist, she's probably still a good person, my mom still loves those colors and sceneries - I hope this specific one didn't become an exception. Do I ask her about it? Would mentioning it and admiting the conection between my ex friend and this painting, out loud, change my mom's view on it? Better to not remind her of it. I walk by her signature everyday but I rarely think of her nowadays. Today I'm sad. That's fine.

The Great Knight are OK AU

Also known as the selfindulgent AU in which i give ghem happiness. So in this universe, through various shenanigans the Five Great Knights decide to expand on their group, but in doing so they gotta challenge their current views on themselves, their duty, and what being a Knight really means. There is a lot of adoption too, this is a happy AU.

Below the cut are a few headcanons I have on the individual Knights. It got kind of long so I will leave timeline changes for another post lol. Ah and many of these can be subject to change. I just like taking the two scraps of canon lore we have on most of them and go with my imagination c:

So all 5 came to serve the King under different circumstances and for different reasons.

Dryya

Dryya was the first, she was known as a fierce warrior, with an eye for detail and great speed.

She is a good leader and that's why she was chosen for the position.

She is the White Lady's favorite knight too.

As a quiet hobby, she likes knitting and embroidery.

She is kind of the mom of the group. A little strict but wise nonetheless.

She is the most well versed in diplomacy out of the five, leading to people to believe she is of noble birth, she won't deny or confirm.

Her biggest flaws are not taking care of herself and having a hard time to accept new ideas.

Hegemol

Hegemol joined after her. He was a common bug, but with a passion for mechanics.

He worked making the giant bug robot things you see in Crystal Peaks, but began using one as an armor since he thought it was practical. The Pale King was impressed with the achievements of this bug and granted him the position.

In a way it was his way to aknowledge hardowrking people and what they did for the Kingdom.

Hegemol is a really soft spoken guy, surprisingly, but he is quick to think and has a great sense of humor.

He hums while he works.

His biggest flaw is that he isn't great at social clues or reading the room. He will take things too seriously or not enough.

Ze'mer

Ze'mer was the third. She was a traveller that knew of many places beyond the Wastes. She didn't plan on staying for long but she fell in love with the wonders of Hallownest.

At first her presence was a bit worrying for the Pale King. Her existence basically meant that the mind PK granted wasn't unique.

She was also a strong warrior, being able to take on beasts without even getting hurt.

She could become a powerful ally. Which is why PK chose her to become a Knight to serve the Kingdom. She agreed, since it also meant that other outsider bugs like her could be welcomed in better conditions.

Her biggest flaw is that she avoids conflict too much. She doesn't like to argue or have her views challenged, and she ignores her problems until they overwhelm her.

Isma

Seeing that having allies was a good idea, the pale beings looked for other candidates.

She's a mosskin, blessed by Unn. She was a protector of the area, and was rumored to use magic drawn from a similar force then Unn's dream.

This basically means she has some power over plants and acid

She is often tasked with recuing bugs.

It was the White Lady who asked her to join. Isma saw a chance of benefiiting her people and being their protector and took it. She swore to fight for the lives of innocent bugs.

Her main flaw is that she can be condescending and thinks she understands people, even when she really doesn't.

I'm a little open for different headcanons for him. For this one I'll say he was a Colosseum fighter. A pretty popular one amongst bugs, for being both a champion but also a really charming guy.

He ended up regretting this life, he felt like taking down weaker fighters was not honorable at all, and hurt more than helped. He was also kind of rough and not methodic, which made him doubt his own skill.

So, after meeting Isma as she was on duty, he decided to leave his past self and start as a new man, training to be a Knight

He was welcomed by the King, both thanks to Isma's influence and the word that had spread of this defender.

Rumors say Ogrim is his favorite knight and they share a lot in common, considering they both left their previous "identity" behind.

Ogrim likes to sing.

His biggest flaw is that his loyalty sometimes blinds him, and his judgement can be skewed.

Imagine Pedro being teased and questioned about how close he is with you, Gal’s adopted sister, and trying his best to hide the fact that you are actually dating.

“So, Gal, I am going to direct this question mostly at you but of course anyone can get to answer. I actually wanted to know your opinion about it.” Conan said, as Gal herself nodded her head with a smile.

“Oh, please, with pleasure.”

“There have been several photos, and I do not mean just from paps or professionals. Even you on your personal instagram posted a few. Which, to say the least, broke the internet as we all saw.”

“Yeah uh truth is my instagram wasn't working for several hours afterwards and I thought it was just me but then I kept asking others and got the same reply from everyone! Turns out, we caused a blackout of sorts.” Gal laughed, admitting to it before looking away in embarrassment while the rest of the cast nodded their heads as if almost giving her a a playful glare, even through the screen of the computer.

“And the reason behind that, who would have thought, a couple photos!” Jimmy nodded his head “Your sister, your adopted sister (Y/n), came to visit you on the set of Wonder Woman 1984. It was, for lack of better words, a historic moment not just for instagram who crashed because of the popularity of the photos but also for comic book fans worldwide. It was the closest we could get to a Marvel and DC crossover.”

“You say that because she was in her costume in some of them yeah?” Gal asked with a bright smile, always loving to talk about her little sister as Conan nodded his head “Yes, it was (Y/n)'s idea and everyone knows it, I can never say no to my little sister. Plus, she was right; we had so much fun fooling around in our costumes! I had more fun than I've ever had on a set of a movie before. And, yes, I almost always enjoy the movies I'm in, but this one- this one was truly something else! We- almost everyone, I think, played along as we acted as our characters and filmed some scenes just for laughs. I really really hope they make it into the bloopers somehow.”

“So you're planning on taking down youtube next, I see. I see.” the host nodded his head with playfully narrowed eyes, seeming all suspicious and making everyone laugh.

“No, no I swear! I don't want to!” she said in between laughter “We all had so much fun and an amazing time on set and in front of the cameras, playing superheroes that it would be incredible for the fans to see! It's- Really, it is kind of an unofficial crossover that should make it to the internet at least!”

“I'll have to-” Patty spoke up “I'll have to give it to Gal, she is right. (Y/n) had this amazing idea and creative at the same time because she had a small plot in her mind and lines and everything concerning the set. We all did a small setup and filmed it and, honestly, it came out to be real good!”

“Patty is no even exaggerating and Gal is certainly right. We had so much fun filming that small crossover, and (Y/n)'s ideas were brilliant! Fans will definitely love it!” Kristen said in addition.

“She truly is an incredibly talented, smart and creative person, besides an absolute darling. So kind to everyone and sweet, we all couldn't get enough of her. And-” Patty raised a finger “I will say it here once more because Gal has heard it before: the fastest we've filmed a scene in this movie. And it was all thanks to how professional she was, it was truly incredible!”

“Well, I can't ever deny it, my little sister is the biggest star there is! Oscars or other awards aside, she proves how great she is on every set on her own!”

“And you are definitely her biggest fan, as we all can clearly tell.” Conan pointed out with a small laugh “Speaking of, I think we do have someone who could only be described as your main rival on that sweet stop of being your sister's number one fan. Someone who hasn't been shy about expressing his admiration about (Y/n) but who has yet to utter a word.” Conan looked back up from his papers and said someone almost felt his heart jump in fear and nervousness, hoping that at least nobody noticed that he was indeed being silent for a reason “Pedro, you're being uncharacteristically quiet about this one, especially for something that caused Instagram to crash within thirty minutes of the photos being uploaded. I'm not- I'm not used to this from you. Come on, talk to me. Say what's on your mind.”

“This is oddly- I'm getting strange deja vu vibes here. Must be cause of that one time I visited a therapist. Long story short, it was only one session for me and about hm at least 25 for him. I heard he's still going to a therapist now.” he shrugged casually, earning laughter from everyone. He chuckled slightly himself, glancing over the screen of his computer while trying his best to keep anything from showing on his face even more so his smile, rubbing the back of his neck.

“I mean-” he cleared his throat “Ah man, what else can I say? The ladies have spoken, and they've said exactly what- I believe anyone that gets the opportunity to work with (Y/n) or watch her movies would agree she is one of a kind.” he shrugged softly with an adorable smile “Besides, it feels like anything I say is just going to be used against me, so I- I better keep on silently observing. That does seem like it's the safest option here.”

Pedro's laugh was more of a nervous if not awkward one, but he was pretty confident it was just no different to how he would usually laugh away questions he didn't want to answer in interviews. Most celebrities did the same, he wouldn't be the first nor the last, so he didn't expect Conan to insist any further. He didn't want to push his luck, he had been really successful (if not blessed after all these close calls) with all these online interviews to not have everything revealed by accident, so now especially with the current topic, he didn't feel like messing things up. He loved this privacy, he didn't want to lose it not yet, he wanted you and this all to himself for now. And he wanted the story of how you met, of how over that one month and a half on set he felt himself fall in love with you.

And yet... Yet, he was probably a weak man, a man who couldn't help but indulge even if he knew it could probably get him in trouble. You were worth it, though, you were worth all of it and as you were his weakest spot and so indulge he did. He slowly chewed on his lower lip and he so subtly looked over the screen of his computer.

His eyes fell on you, still splayed on his bed, book in one hand and steaming mug on the nightstand – your nightstand on your side of the bed, the thought of which made his heart flutter inside his chest – hair slightly messy, that oversized Mandalorian shirt on, which you'd gotten all excited amongst many many more fandom related toys a couple months ago and couldn't wait for him to see. A shirt which had, inevitably, ended up being taken off you barely ten minutes later starting from him stealing kisses and leading to the two of you making love till the very morning in between endless giggles. The pup you'd gotten – the both of you – not so long ago made a small noise drawing your attention for a short moment as you kept petting him, the both of you too tired to do anything else after an exhausting day of playing. Pedro couldn't complain, although he'd been a part of it he had mostly spent time filming everything even if you hadn't been the one to ask him to, he couldn't help it.

It was something that the both of you decided on and although you hadn't said it out loud, you both knew and at least Pedro hoped, that it was the next step, a very important one, in your relationship besides you moving in with him. To be responsible for another living being together was, if not a test, at least a way to see how well you could cooperate. And, if he could say so himself, you had been doing great so far.

“Good morning, darling. Here for morning kisses? Yes? Come up here.” your giggles were able to warm him more than the sunlight coming through the window “Ooooh someone really loves mommy, don't you?”

And then your words set his entire being alight. Or more specifically that one particular word.

“Well-” he stretched a bit, his arms finding your waist again to bring you closer and cuddle with you “Who doesn't love mommy in this house?” he couldn't help it as his smile turned into a lovestruck grin “Morning, mi amor.”

“Good morning, darling.” you pecked his lips “And don't worry, mommy loves daddy back, enough to make up for the rest of the world.”

As if reading his mind, you chose to look up from your book at him, smiling as you held his gaze for a good few seconds. So much love was evident, even in those few seconds, he could almost feel his own heart burst. Yet another reason for him to control his reactions from showing just how much on high on happiness and love he was. You shook your head, eyes wide as you heard Conan speak again, you playfully mouthed to him “Focus!”

As subtly as possible he tried to clear his throat and taking the mug of coffee that was beside his computer, he took a sip and decided to focus on it as much as he could. Until the subject changed, at least.

“...Wise man. I feel you, so don't worry I'll leave you to it.” if only he knew the big sigh of relief Pedro tried to hold back as Conan continued “It's the tactic I follow 99% of the time when I'm out with my wife, just smile and wave kind of thing. Alright-” he nodded his head in thought “Alright, well, let me ask you all something else. You keep saying in front of the cameras and talking about this small crossover, but I assume she must have been around for longer than that, yes?”

“Yes, yes she was there for at least a month, a month and a half I think. She was on vacation, after being done with filming, and she decided that before heading home that she'd come by and visit us. It was meant to be for a short period of time. She loved the place... the people, perhaps, how could I know for sure?” she shrugged not looking innocent in the least bit, earning a few laughs.

“Anyway-” she cleared her throat “And you see before she knew it, before we all did, one week turned into two turned into three and so on. It-” she chuckled “She was around on set and with us on all those beautiful locations we were in. And while we were all working and walking around with purpose and the need to finish this scene with so much pressure on- on our shoulders and she was just sitting around with a iced coffee or tea on her hand, sunglasses on and phone on the other hand looking she didn't have a single care in the world. It kind of made everyone a little bit jealous to be honest.”

“A little? Cause I sense that there's more than you're letting on, Gal. Come on, spill the tea.”

“Alright more than a little.” she laugh “I mean, it wasn't all the time, of course. Just the first couple days mostly but you can imagine how it was. It seemed like she did it on purpose sometimes.”

“Twistin' the knife even deeper, that's what she's best at. Oh I know!” Conan nodded his head “I'm actually afraid to invite her on the show because I fear how bad she'll roast me. Andy-” he laughed “Andy is the only one who has the most fun during those interviews.”

“I know right? Boy you tell me!” Gal exclaimed “That little shit. I adore her to no end but I really had the hardest of time when she was around. She just had to make comments on everything she could, especially when I was acting. I couldn't stop laughing sometimes, but nobody got mad at her. It was always my fault somehow!”

“I mean she's just so sweet, how could we be mad at her?” Patty added.

“She messed up so many of my scenes!” Gal pretended to be angry but her smile gave it away “But it's true, I couldn't even be mad at her. I don't get to see her that often, because of the work we both do, so I would give anything to have my sister with me like that every other chance I got. Even if I got all the blame for it, there's nothing I wouldn't do for her, you understand.”

“Aw that's- that's incredibly sweet, actually. It's- that's the exact opposite of me and my brother so no I can't really understand to be honest, but alright.” Conan laughed “Well, then, you really got your chance this time, right? You had the opportunity to spend all this time with her. When you were not working of course.”

“I...” Gal trailed off, her smile turning into a mischievous one but the rest of her expression trying to remain innocent, and failing at it because she truly wasn't even trying “Well, I would say yes. And I would agree with you. And I would even ramble about the wonderful two months I spent with my sister... If that had been the case. If I had really seen her for more than a week total, then yeah I would say that.”

“Wha- P-Pardon me?” Conan blinked in surprise “Didn't you j-just say your sister was with you on set for about two months? Or have I been in a parallel universe all this time and I just now came back to our reality?”

“Oh no it's very much our reality but I also did mean what I said. My sister was on set, and I did see her quiet often. But did I spend almost all of my free time with her? Did she spend hers with me? Nope. And that-” again with a far-from-innocent shrug “That is probably the only question I can answer. What she did? Did she have fun?... Who she was with? I wish I knew. What I know is I wasn't the one closest to her on set.”

“So you're telling me, (Y/n) was on set full of people she didn't really know, and you, her sister, barely spent any time with her? I'm gonna assume the rest of you didn't spend more time with her compared to Gal, right?” he asked and got nods from everyone, well, everyone who had their eyes on their screen and therefore looking at Conan, because there was still one that would avoid eye-contact even through the screen “Well, then, who was closest to her on set, if not you?”

“She, well-” Gal paused, smile all too sweet as she added “There could be someone...”

Said someone who couldn't even look up from his mug of coffee, as if it was the most interesting thing in the entire world, and didn't dare say a word for fearing of messing things up; even if his silence spoke volumes as it was. A silence which was... even more intense than before. Even more... real. Probably because it wasn't just in his head, probably because it wasn't just from his part.

Blinking several times, he slowly raised his head to look up from his mug and at the screen of his computer. Only to be met with the eyes of the rest of the group staring at... well, they were staring at the screen of their own computers but for some reason – a reason which he knew all too well – he felt like all eyes were suddenly on him. And they probably were. Because Gal was being nice about it but almost everyone had noticed how much time you had spent with Pedro during those almost two months. You had just met back then so they didn't imply anything back then but now... now they could just as well do so.

“I-” he laughed and he hated how nervous he sounded “Is it time to talk about my character?” he asked almost shyly, nearly praying on the inside that they would say yes and let him change the subject “Well, Max Lord is a guy who-”

“Are you trying to change the subject there, Pedro? One can wonder why.” Conan narrowed his eyes “Come on, don't be shy. Share your opinion here, or maybe your personal experience. Since I am assuming you do have one?”

“Yes, Pedro, why don't you share your opinion with us?” Gal raised an eyebrow, small smirk on her lips “You've been particularly interested in that drink the past couple minutes apparently.”

“I-” Pedro paused, before shaking his head with a laugh “This is going to be a long interview. I can tell.”
