i hope i dont sound angry writing this, but please dont send/ask me stuff like this! i've gotten a lot of similar asks like this and this is scary for me but i need to set a boundary!

i dont like making "angst" or sad things, i dont make non-happy content for the sake of inflicting pain, and i dont like people assuming/thinking i do! i make it for meaningful emotional impact, i dont want people to tell me how much they like that i "put raph through pain" or assume im appealing to people who like doing that .. it makes me very sad!

i dont make "angst" to purely hurt characters, im making fanart of a character with emotional depth, and to explore the character's reaction to serious matters, and to let people know that theyre not alone, and that struggling can look like many things

some of the most motivating things ive been told by people who like my comics is that it's helped them (and their therapist sometimes!) figure out what was up with them, because i write a lot of things such as ptsd and anxiety and general mental pain to look different than the media portrays. because there really is alot of forms mental issues can take, and not all of them get portrayed, which leaves real people wondering "whats wrong with me" when its right there, just different form!

i think the closest i'll get to making it "just because" is vent art, but that too has meaning. and i will specify when its vent art for that very reason. to say "this isnt necessarily me exploring anything, or canonical, its to make myself feel less alone, and hopefully, the people seeing this as well"

and thats why i make the content i do, its not because i enjoy putting characters i like through bad things,,, in fact, i often hesitate/regret posting because i feel bad about the things i create for the sake of this. but i try to look past it because it can genuinely help a lot of people, and it does help myself too.

i think that assuming i make emotional stuff just for the sake of pain takes away from that.. i try very hard to not over-do sad stuff and i often cut down on it because i dont want to overwhelm people with it, and to prove that i only do the necessities for the sake of healing from the things i put emphasis on

any of the pain i "put them through" is my take on what they've canonically been through, and exploring their reaction and way to deal with the aftermath of that. nothing more,,, nothing less.

One thing about veilguard that bums me out is that this is the very first bioware game that I dont feel any desire to play again. All of the decisions made in the game either dont matter or are made for you so there’s no wondering like “what wouldve happened if I did this instead of that?” There’s so many moments in the game where it felt as if I should really debate what option to pick, only to realize through playing more that decisions really don’t matter. So all decisions made in later stages of the game just kinda feel meaningless.

Everything is set up so one dimensionally that the replay value is unfortunately very low. Theres very few ways to play things differently. I was incredibly disappointed that you do not have the option to kill Lucanis’s shitty cousin. You dont even get any option at ALL over what to do with him. It doesnt matter what you do with the bald warden dude, it doesnt matter whether or not you chose to kill that rando mayor… and the list goes on.

I used replay bioware games just to get different DIALOGUE! This game had very little in terms of meaningful dialogue! Much of the dialogue between characters feels so flat or unrelated to the plot. Character conflict is extremely forced so replaying the game wouldn’t necessarily give you anything new to chew on. Its frustrating that Rook is designated as the group’s therapist, but is often completely sidelined by everyone and everything going on! I romanced Lucanis and he still was hella flirting with Neve which made the romance route feel like a complete afterthought.

Approval ratings dont matter at all, theres genuinely nothing that changes besides your own insight to the different characters worldviews. If someone disliked something, you dont get different dialogue or attitude or nuffin! What does hardening even do in DAV? Neve or Lucanis being hardened has no impact on anything at all besides some rando skill buffs. I thought maybe Harding or Davrin’s endgame sacrifice wouldve meant something more if you had some way of hardening them.

It felt just kind of random to kill off one of your companions in the endgame. Especially when you’ve played through the entire game making choices that were ultimately meaningless. The choice of who dies in the endgame feels just as meaningless as everything else because you the player have spent the entire game realizing that approval ratings dont matter, plot choices dont matter, characterization choices dont matter etc. So if they want to do something as heavy hitting as killing off a main character, wouldnt it have made more sense to build it up in a way that there would be SOME emotional impact? If you were able to harden Davrin or Harding, then killing them wouldve hit harder dang it! Killing off characters feels just cheap when youre overly aware that nothing matters.

No matter your choices in this game, its still going to play the exact same every time with very little deviation. Its almost like playing a telltale game or something. The plot is pathed out for you, your choices are superfluous, your romance options are as noteworthy as skyrim’s “put on a necklace, okie doke now you’re married.”

The game itself isnt bad, but it reminds me of a mass market paperback book. The kinds that come out monthly. You know exactly what the plot is gonna be, you know there’s gonna be a cast of characters, you know theres gonna be bad guys and good guys.., and then you finish the book thinking “Yup that was ok!” Then you shelve it and never look at it again because its one amongst 17492820102 others in the genre. To use another metaphor, this game is buttered toast, it feels like something youve had before, its familiar, it tastes good… but thats it. Its just bread and butter, and theres no sense dressing it up or toasting the bread more or less because at the end of the day… its still toast.

--are an apparatus allowing superhuman abilities bestowed to those with particularly potent desires. this is like how shifting/manifesting successes come to those who intend for it to come very strongly and faithfully, a particularly potent desire.

i remember when natsu was fighting the guy with wind powers, and he said a certain move was "impossible" to pull off. but natsu remembered that the magic can do anything he wants it to, as long as he believes it will.

4, chaos powers.

--are a very illusive and versatile power to have. they grant the user control of their reality, what does that sound like to you? shifting! like wanda maximoff or discord (mlp) you have the liberty to create your own universe from scratch. but maybe dont be as destructive as those two...

5. the concept of a wish.

wishing is a concept anyone familiar with storytelling for the past i dont know a thousand years must know by the back of their hand. but the encouragement to keep wishing disney gives us isnt just some starry-eyed message. when you wish, you know it will come true. so when you expect to shift or manifest with the assumption that it will happen for sure, then it must come true!

Reading your enstars instagram post and man. I am so sorry. I am glad you can still find comfort in the old stories, i know i do. (Atp enstars only exists in the internet archives to me lol). Like you said, not everything after !-era is bad but damn if it hasn't been getting steadily worse. Awful to see something you once loved and held dear morphing into something else entirely. Not gonna lie, i'm almost scared to keep up with any stories releasing after this considering how much they have already made it obvious that they don't care. I don't wanna see the story get butchered anymore than this.

Unfortuantely, they probably won't go eos until they've milked every last penny out of the franchise. By that point i think enstars will be unrecognizable compared to what it had been in the past.

Hii, ive actually been talking about this all day with various friends, some more some less involved in enstars... i think it's everyone's right to distance themselves from something that doesnt spark joy anymore and has let them down. I will focus my reads on mostly ! era stuff but until it shuts down i will keep an eye out on the releases. I cant imagine a world where enstars is still going and i dont at least know the overview of whats going on.

As youve been on twt too, im sure you mightve seen that some of the critiques people are bringing now just to jump on the Hating Everything Enstars are stupid. Im thinking about the buddhism and christianity tweet in particular coming from someone who genuinely seems like they havent read many stories lawl. Theres a difference between actual problems and personal dissatisfactions that things arent the way you want them to be for various personal reason. People should learn their singular experience isnt universal, and characters in a story dont aim to speak for a universal experience either. It's not bad writing for a hidden christian in japan to behave differently from a canadian one, or for eichi to joke around with his childhood friend who happens to be buddhist. Anyway. I will always defend the parts of enstars i think were genuinely good, even if im getting worse at expressing myself in speech.

Anyhow... i dont want to speculate on internal problems but i really do wonder how much of this current direction was akira's choice and how much was happyele. He is no longer one of the only 2 writers (and main one, at that), i wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt have as much influence anymore. We know that in the beginning of es2 he expressed concern that everyone in happyele is insane...lol. He's not a perfect writer but the soul of enstars was brought by him.

Well, as i said, i dont want to speculate anything. I wish to not see so much negativity even on things that dont deserve hate, but ive always had issues with other fans' uninformed reactions. That'll never change even as enstars self destructs more and more. I can hold contempt for both the company and such fans, while treasuring the meaningful parts of the story and its impact on my life going forward too♡ ah my dear story that shouldve been a niche vn with a cult following of few but passionate fans instead of a gacha game gone stale disappointing old fans in pursuit of new ones with gimmicky shock writing...

hey i just read the paragraph you posted and im honestly so glad you did because you being the interpetur of the loa to all of these people on tumblr that are just trying to find themselfs and create the life they want can be tiring and draining especily when you, as a human are ever evolving and learning new things about yourself and the law everyday. (person who asked about toji and naoya) I'm really glad you feel the same way as me when it comes to their relationship, i honestly thought i'd only get a couple sentences, so thank you so much for that lengthy answer. Also with the 'naoya being an example of what gojo could've been' thing, i think that's really interesting. Cause i've seen something similar be explored before, with people writing naoya and gojo being raised as almost rivals of eachother, but they also seemed to glorify naoya in a way, so i took it more as their own intepretation rather than a reflection of how things would have been in canon. Back to your point with gojo and naoya tho, thinking about it more, you're really onto something there, cause kid gojo sorta acts like naoya?? still different, but the similarities are there. i also just realised toji seriously affected both of their lives. I can't imagine how naoya would have been had he not met toji. It just feels like he wouldn't be naoya. Christ, you were so right about toji haunting everyone. It's funny how someone regarded as nothing impacted so much of the lives of those who are regarded as everything. i case you couldn't tell by [gestures to playback] i have a lot of big big feelings about the zen'in clan in general, and naoya - honestly, feelings i didnt have before starting it that i've come around to the more i study these guys under a microscope! i dont know if the comparisons between young gojo and young naoya are intentional, but to me they're very much there - each is the prodigal genius heir of their clan, inheriting a genetic technique that sets them apart from a young age and has them both praised and isolated for this technique. each at a young age is egotistical and carries themself above others because that's been treated as outright fact by the people around them. gojo is exposed to other viewpoints and experiences that allow him to grow beyond it, though aspects of that mindset remain in him they don't take a malicious form - naoya isn't given that social opportunity, and instead stuck in an echo chamber that eventually makes him even worse than the people around him. they obviously aren't 1:1 but i do really think there's a comparison to be drawn

and imho the zen'in clan as a whole are kind of a microcosm of jujutsu society, where even those in privileged positions in the social hierarchy suffer and live less fulfilling lives for it. literally none of them seem happy. naoya is one of the most insecure, bitter, unhappy characters we meet imho, feeling challenged by and overcompensating to extreme measures to every single perceived threat and slight. we see much of the same with ogi, honestly, with one key difference - naoya doesn't seem to have anything or anyone that would make him happy, while ogi has a wife and children and yet self-sabotages every chance at a meaningful life and meaningful human connection because of his fixation on rank and power. his family is just an extension of himself, and therefore disappointing and discarded as worthless because they don't meet his expectations.

their hierarchy prevents a lot of meaningful connections from being formed with ideas of rank and power and honour and tradition getting in the way of them. not in a way that excuses the way a lot of these guys are, but as a whole this is a generational and societal issue as much as it is an individual one, and its noteworthy that someone like gojo, in contrast, turned out as relatively well-adjusted and normal as he did - under the right circumstances, he very well may have been much worse. isnt that just what all of their stories are? under the right circumstances, almost anyone could have ended up like geto, or like naoya. to me jjk is a series where theres a sense of nurture taking precedent over nature very often, and all the spectacular ways one's nature can remain unshaken and unchanged even in the face of that. or something.

this isn't even what your ask was about. i feel like a lot of this pertains to toji in interesting ways but also theres very little to be said about toji that hasn't been already. something something nature of cycles and how his breaking out of it had ripples across the entire world because the clan is representative of the world he was a part of something the way you must break tradition before it breaks you whatever.

Hello all. If we want tumblr to listen to us then we need to express it in a way that tumblrs 'potential' users (that they care so much about) will see, and will likely prevent from using tumblr until staff fuckin listens.

How?

Tumblr posts are limited to tumblr, any new users won't see as they'll mainly follow themed blogs, so staff doesn't care because it won't affect their goals in any meaningful way. Investors also aren't looking at tumblr posts to decide if they'll invest so tumblr isnt negatively monetarily affected by complaint posts.

Talking about tumblrs downfalls on other sites may help, but unless its a large movement at one time, staff and the general public wont see/care about any complaints.

One thing that new users will definitely see if theyre on mobile however, and investors can check easily, is the rating and review of tumblr on the App Store. This means that the rating/reviews is something that can directly impact whether new users decide to use tumblr or investors decide to invest. So is something that staff should directly care about.

So what do we do?

We rate the app badly.

But not just rating it badly, give a review and explain what problems you find with tumblr.

Some examples:

-bad moderation (incorrect flagging of posts, inappropriate posts not being flagged hategroups not being banned etc.)

-bad search function

Tumblr staff have recently started trying to monetize the site mote effectively while ignoring the requests/queries from current users in an effort to attract new users.

fanon kokichi often makes him lean into the "not actually evil" thing or erases it completely and makes him straight up evil and a piece of shit and i like those interpretations way more than what he actually is :/

chapter 4 of v3 was insane yes but i still dont understand why he killed miu if hes so "against murder" (which side note but being "against murder" is the funniest shit i ever like killing people is bad?? yeah no shit its fucking bad, welcome to being a normal person bruh) and chapter 5 solidified kokichi as an attempt on the writers part to make another komaeda

but heres the thing with trying to make the same impact that nagito did, komaeda is such a carefully constructed character with so much depth and so many layers that you cant emulate him without an insane amount of work, all of the pieces for nagitos character fall into place seamlessly, he makes sense

kokichi will have monokuma tell you, though his motive video, which has no reason to lie to the audience since it was only ment for kokichi to watch, that he abhors murder and has strictly prohibited it within his gang, and then manipulate gonta into killing miu and watch him do it with a straight face. pick one liar boy

after komaeda dies he is still relevant, after you clock the suicide his trial becomes increasingly terrifying, even when hes dead he seems to be fully in control of the trial, theres a whole mini chapter just about him and kamukura, hinata is still conflicted about him and wants to understand him after he dies, theres the whole cutting his own arm off and replacing it with junkos thing. even if he doesnt have the whole narrative at gun point nagito is still significant after his death, the game still makes a point to bring him up and presence or lack there of is meaningful

after ouma boy dies and his trial is over we find out he, somehow, isnt actually evil and it kind of Ends At That. we find out the camera bots trough the blueprint he made but none of the characters give him any thought after it, his abscence isnt noticed, hes not missed, no one pays him any mind after his death, not even the game. rantaro, the first death of the game, becomes more significant than the antagonist that had been with us the entire time

nagitos luck talent is relevant, its trough his luck that he is traumatized time and time again and turns out the way he is, its trough his luck that he survives the russian roulette and gets the hope's peak file, its trough his luck that his insanely elaborate kamikaze plan ALMOST works, its trough hinatas understanding of nagito and his luck that it fails at the very end

kokichis supreme leader talent is irrelevant, his skills as a petty theif have more spotlight than his talent, in a game with so much emphasis on talent that we have the talent ultimate labs the antagonists talent means nothing, kokichi never leads anything, in fact he isolates and fucks off to the ether for most of the game, i cannot recall a single moment his talent was relevant other than making everyone belive he lead the remnants of despair at some point (which side note if some random mf showed up trying to become a new leader to the despairs they would have killed him i think lmao. specially if its post dr2)

i dont have a conclusion to end this on, im not a kokichi enjoyer but he has successfully become a minor roman empire in my brain due to how mid he is lol

I've kinda seen some pushback to the idea of representation in media and I don't necessarily think it's bad to point out actual rights are more important than Disney's thousandth first gay character that's fine, but I've had a LOT of people comment on my works about asexual characters and tell me what I wrote changed their life-and it's always that phrase- because they now have the language to describe what they feel. I've had people who ARENT ace or aro comment that what I wrote finally made a concept they didn't understand make sense, or that the way I explained things was interesting and enlightening and I'm kind of a mediocre writer who hasn't written anything in ages.

Like idk, if reading something from a writer who is fucking around and only somewhat talented can genuinely impact someone because they've not seen anything like them reflected back at them in life or media I don't think pushing for representation in media is as "needless" as some people seem to think and caring about that doesn't mean you don't care about more "important" (although if you think seeing people like you in media ISNT important it's because you already have that representation or are privileged enough to not care if you do, in which case maybe pipe down) stuff. Hell, I even got a Facebook message ages ago from someone who found a comment I left in an ace group about QPR's and what they meant to me and how I perceived them and the person no joke said what I wrote two years before they even found it changed their life forever because they finally knew what kind of relationship they actually wanted.

So like sure, of course there's always bigger fish to fry them diversity in media (you know, like diversity in real life lol) but I don't think it's as frivolous as some people are beginning to act like it is. At least not if you're an aspec person it's not, I STILL don't see ace characters almost ever and I'll bet my whole everything if I asked a writer of a show why they'd tell me that EVERYONE has to be in a sexual relationship and characters that aren't won't sell and are boring- I say this because in film school I had a teacher TELL ME every character needed to basically be sex obsessed and when I pointed out a GREAT MANY CHARACTERS are not revolved around sex (Supernatural stars two brothers, I pointed out) and when she asked if I had love interests I was like ??? That doesn't matter- using my aforementioned supernatural example almost all their love interests die or get mind wiped because at the end of the day that's not what the story was about. So actually I think writers who act like that teacher need like 50 reality checks, and representation in stories isn't unimportant and also support indie writers you'll probably find more funky shit there then Disney anyway lmao.

And also even the asexual characters I DO see in media don't remind me at all of myself even if I appreciate the effort, but they never feel real or genuine and their sexuality doesn't get a lot of exploration so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I actually could use more media focused on characters that I can genuinely see my sexuality reflected in in a meaningful and narratively impactful way because I've got nothing.

far from it to be my style to post about hashtag mental health issues on main but like. look. ive& been psychotic as far back as i can tangibly remember (hallucinating at 10-11, cognitive symptoms and episodes by 13-14). its been a part of my life so long that like... in a lot of ways im used to it and coping with symptoms and my life grew around a lot of the symptoms. like a tree trunk growing around a foreign object as a sapling. something that pierces directly through the middle but doesnt really impact the trees ability to stay alive in any meaningful way.

so like in a lot of ways im used to being in my own head. my partner is good at recognizing that things that are distressing to me in episodes dont process whatsoever as distressing to me a good chunk of the time. when im acting visibly distressed it actually means my level of distress is at like, 200%. its fucking unmanageable. if im visibly distressed its worse than anyone could conceptualize because typically otherwise im just numb to a lot of it or its just default my reality that its not distressing in any meaningful way until after the fact.

but like im ngl just because ive spent all of my teenage years upwards trying to take up literally the least space possible to exist and never show 80% of my "unacceptable" symptoms to 99% of people does not mean it makes it any less uncomfortable or awkward to like. be the token psychotic in some groups. to have to be the buzzkill and shit thats like hey sorry heres my hyperspecific request of the year because im fucking insane.

It's so upsetting how victims and activists have to play this little game for fundraising and pretend like any amount of personal effort by individuals will have any sustained impact. But like what else is there to do? I think it's important to recognize how systemic violence is benefited by these little drip feed life lines. Someone who has to constantly fundraise to survive wont have the time or energy to invest meaningful in themselves, that is //IF// they even have the opportunity to do that. when gender is embedded in technical objects and processes, it reflects gender norms in society and reenforces stereotypes and the same can be said for typefaces.

typefaces for toys aimed at girls tend to use calligraphic typefaces where as toys aimed at boys used bold sans serif fonts

"its obvious the use of gender attributes in the context of typography is not based on the lines drawn by the letters but the cultural aspects"

looking at the history of typography, william morris wanted a return to books being printed in sans serif bold typefaces, away from feminine serif typefaces which were more ornimental. this likened serif typefaces to weakness and listlessness

more recently, the examples of this is in marketing products towards a certain target audience where designers are encouraged to follow these 'standards' in order to 'effectively' market the product successfully.

this is harmful because it enforces a strict gender binary and relies on outdated gender stereotypes

it has been noticed that most designers will try and resolve the issue of gender typefaces in packaging and product promotion by simply reversing them which doesnt achieve anything impactful or meaningful

the 'bumpy typeface' reflects how difficult it is to be unaffected by stereotypes in society. the typeface is variable to persist against the discriminatory limitations of the gender binary as well as condensed typeface to express the pressure of existing norms. between the two extremes, the typeface experiences rigid to fluid to show that there is existence between the two, commenting on the fact that gender isnt binary but a continuum. this is an original and unique comment on gender in an unexpected way because not only does it comment of the issue of gender stereotypes, but it also visually explores the concept in an obvious way.

this has made me think about the extent as to what i could design and how far i can push the boundaries which is inspiring. i might want to consider making something which is variable whether that be a typeface or something else interactive.

exploring this would be worthwhile because there isnt many designs out there that i can find which explores this issue.
