Cassie often received compliments for her long, straight blond hair. But she recently told a friend she wanted to cut it. “she said she would make it into a wig and give it to some little kid, who lost their hair from chemotherapy.”

THE FIFTH KILLED On April 20th 1999, Cassie Bernall was the fifth person killed

At the time of the massacre she was 17 years old and a junior at Columbine.

ABOUT CASSIE She was a Christian. Many believed that she was the one who said “yes” when being asked if she believed in god. It was later confirmed to be survivor Valeen Schnurr.

Some of her favorite things were swimming, bike rides with her dad, rock climbing, Shakespeare, photography, and fishing.

Like many teenagers she too struggled with her mental health. She had been rebellious to her Christian upbringings and dabbled in goth and witch craft. She experienced a lot of depression and anger. All this leading her to try alcohol and other drugs.

Just like Eric and Dylan she wrote about killing people, more specifically her parents and teachers. Luckily, her parents found them and put her into a private school.

At first, this didn’t help. She was almost completely blocked off from her friends and she fell into depression and suicidal thoughts. Eventually, she made friends at church and found support there.

After that she was able to go to Columbine. Then leading to her unfortunate ending.

According to her aunt, she was going to donate her hair to kids going through chemo. Her hope was to grow enough for 2+ kids. “As many as possible.”

Today, Kelly Fleming would've been 42.

Kelly Ann Fleming was born in Phoenix, Arizona on January 6th, 1983 to Dee and Dom Fleming. Her family moved to Littleton so their daughters could be in a safer neighborhood. She was described as shy and creative. She loved Halloween, vampire books, and writing. At the time of her death, she had finished part of her auto-biography. She often wrote stories in the library, most with happy endings. Kelly was learning to drive, and was saving up for a Mustang or Corvette, and she had plans of taking road trips or visiting Phoenix.

She was in the library at the time of the shooting, and was sitting with her friends. Her friend Lauren Townsend was killed just before she was. The Mauser's heard that Kelly's family was new to the area and they offered to have a joint funeral with Kelly and Daniel. Their funeral was held April 25th, 1999, just 5 days after the tragedy.
