aziraphale really fumbled the bag and he doesn’t even realize it smh 😔 the way he says “I need you” aaaaaaaaaaaaaa. He thinks he’s doing the right thing and wants Crowley to come too so they can be together but also doesn’t realize how asking that if Crowley is so cruel aaaaaaaaaaa
I knowww but also he should know that asking Crowley is cruel. He has had more than six thousand years to figure it out while having a parallel crisis of faith. It's deliberate ignorance and while it's sympathetic in that it's very easy to understand why he wants to lie to himself in that moment what the fuck man that's your partner. That's your best friend. You should be nicer about the plan to infiltrate heaven I assume you have.
Also he only ever calls when he's bored or wants to brag or is in trouble? sorry to Crowley but his very bendy spine is a part of the problem. I get that he enjoys being trodden upon but damn. wild and heartbreaking he found a thing he wouldn't do for Aziraphale at the eleventh hour.

Unpopular opinion, probably.
So I've read many metas, and thought a lot about it and have come to my own personal conclusion about the final 15.
I'm taking it at face value.
Because it was the most human Crowley and Aziraphale have probably ever been and I think that is at least part of the point. Love makes people stupid and they are navigating a very human thing in very unhuman circumstances, and it's hard enough to do as a human in human circumstances!
I think Aziraphale believed the Metatron about Crowley bc he was expecting the worst when TM mentioned Crowley but instead got the one thing he wanted most (him and Crowley together and safe, not Crowley being an angel. ) Crowley was absolutely the carrot here. (and no I do not think Crowley would have been safe or happy, but that's besides the point.) I can't tell you how many times I've believed patently ridiculous things because I wanted to believe them so badly even though if I was looking at the same situation objectively from an outside POV I would see how ridiculous it was, so I totally get it. This isn't to say I think Azi had a real choice to go to Heaven or not and I think he did understand that as well, but I get the temptation the Metatron threw out to him, I really do.
As for Aziraphale literally saying all the wrong things to try and get Crowley to come with him? Um yeah been there done that too, the nerves take over, the brain shuts off, the mouth goes into autopilot pulling stuff out its ass, and "WITAF did I just say?" happens.
Crowley not taking any of it well and only hearing what he expected to hear (I'm not good enough for you bc I'm a demon and you only really want me if I can be an angel) *and* also being more able to see through heavens bullshit bc he has lived it, and can see it from the outside, *and* all whilst being the most honest and vulnerable he has ever been with Aziraphale in 6,000 plus years (or in fact possibly to anyone, ever. the closest before this admitting he was lonely to Azi during the Job minisode,) *then* hearing what he took to be the same Heaven will save us line from Azi was enough to trigger a massive bout of RSD and a broken heart. Everything was supposed to "vavoom and sorted! " and instead the stupid awning broke and everything went wrong. I think I've said it before that at this point Crowley can't hear anything over the sound of his heart breaking into a million pieces.
That's a whole lot to pack into the brief moments before Azi has to leave with the Metatron (who let's be honest was rushing him before he could change his mind) esp when neither of them are used to discussing their relationship openly. They didn't have time to think, to ask questions, to share information, (like hey guess what really happened to Gabriel?) Crowley tried to communicate as much as he could about his feelings with the kiss but Azi didn't have the time to properly process all that and said the wrong thing again and Crowley was rejected (he thought) again and it all just went so very wrong. You can't fix a 6,000 year relationship in 15 minutes, you just can't no matter what the story books say.
It's about two people wanting the same thing but not being able to get it (yet) because of circumstances and personalities. All of S2 was about them seeming to be closer than ever (and in many ways they were) but really they were opposed at almost every turn. (in RL not the minisodes, those actually showed them working together and coming out okay mostly, if you don't count wee Morag or Crowley getting dragged to hell) The way they both handled the Gabriel situation, how they both worked to solve the mystery, even how they tried to make Nina and Maggie fall in love were all either done alone, or in opposite ways. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as it was pointed out right in ep1, their exactlies aren't the same and until they are, they aren't going to be able to be together. The one time they did work together in the season, they produced a 25 lazuri miracle. That is the point of the final 15, and the whole season 2 in my opinion.

They'll get there in the end though!

and now i have to find myself a tower in a forest near a wall ...
... and look for a black, dark sorcerer !
You love fairy tales? You love Good Omens? You loved Aziraphale and Crowley in medieval clothes? Then you will love this not so little fanfic i dearly recommend to you!
Villainous by @ineffablepenguin
What it is about:
Once Upon A Time…
There was a red-haired sorcerer who lived alone in a high tower, and a blond prince who lived in a palace full of people. And they were both of them desperately lonely.
The Kingdoms of Empyrion and the Sorcerers of Apollyon have hated each other for hundreds of years, ever since the Great War. They do not interact, other than to occasionally try to kill one another. And they certainly do not make friends.
Crow is an exhausted sorcerer who just wants everyone to leave him the hell alone: for the Sorcerer’s Council to stop harassing him to live up to his potential, and for wannabe Empyrion Heroes to stop attacking his tower to try and kill him. Until one day when he meets Prince Azra of the High Fells, who doesn’t behave anything like he’s supposed to…
Part fairy tale, part fantasy, all love story. There’s magic, and grand romantic gestures, and Heroes and a handsome Prince, and a Villain. There are even some wild heroics, though not necessarily from who you would expect. At its core it’s simply about two (relatively) sane people living in a mad world who find each other.
What i love about it:
🫅🏼 I mean - fairytales? And a lot of them? I found it very nice to guess all the tales when stumbling upon a hint. Nice touch: in the epilogue there is a list of all the fairytales which have kind of flown into this fanfic and i am quite proud that i only missed 1 i actually know (and of course those i dont know).
👑 This story is RICH - and i mean really rich. It goes into details over everything and sometimes it reminded me of books written bei Hermann Hesse because of all the little things that kept coming and being mentioned. On my e-reader it was 566 pages! And yes, it took them about 200 pages for their first kiss 😅 That said, its always drawing a picture and reading the story is kind of seeing in your imagination. Obviously nothing is ineffable for @ineffablepenguin 😉
💪 The action scenes: oh my, its like a Schwarzenegger-movie, you cant stop reading, its fast, its furiuos ... oh, thats another movie, ngk.
🩷 The character development: both of our beloved angels start out being insecure of their roles, their place and their worth. But - this is the first fanfic i ever read, where both of them get to be BAMF !!!!
🩷 The plot: i love being suprised - i mean we do know a lot already, diving into a GO-fanfic with the tag "happy ending", right? So there were some really interesting turns and sometimes i wondered "ok, just how will this play out? How will the author get to unknot THIS?" And i have to admit, sometimes i really didn't see it coming. Very nice!
🩷 The healing: i dont know if it was on purpose or the author just felt like our ineffables needed to hear and think stuff, but actually the way their characters develop and how they help each other with it, what they are thinking etc ... reminded me a lot of trauma-therapy. So as one of those few (ähem) people who really spiraled after the big 15 of S2, this was such a nice feeling.
💫 the epilogue - this story doesnt end at happily ever after. Instead we get to know, how they make a living for themselves and sneak a little into their daily lifes. I truly appreciate that, its a nice way of comforting the Reader out of the story.
Tumblr media
This wonderful art is from @pinkpiggy93! 🩷
Most beloved quote:
"And i love you too, my dear," he said firmly. "You are so very easy to love."
And isnt this quite a sentence, we all need to hear?
So if you are into good omens, fairytales, long fanfics to really dive in to for several hundred pages, some surprises and of course a happy ending - this is quite the story for you.
🩷🤗
Reading is not a hobby, its an attitude.

Ok I was re-watching the last scene of ep6 and I feel like the light of understanding dawned on me, how did I miss so much nuance the first few watches??? Aziraphale and Crowley literally were saying 2 different things: Crowley wants to run from Heaven and Hell ("both toxic"),but Aziraphale only understands that he wants to run away as usual, he doesn't understand Crowley loves him (even Crowley didn't realize it until 5 minutes before).
Not at first. That confession is a mess and from a communicative pov, quite a fail. Basically Crowley is saying "we've always been a team, let's keep being a team by running away like Gabe and Beez run away from their responsibilities". That's what Aziraphale understands, he's so confused when Crowley says "We're a group, a team, an us". That has to be the dumbest (affectionate) confession I've ever seen actually, is he confessing or hyping his team right before a big match?
Tumblr media
Aziraphale doesn't understand the love behind the "love confession": he probably still thinks Crowley thinks of him as a "friend" and he still wants him by his side. He loves him so much that he is ready to go back to Heaven and offers him what he thinks is the thing Crowley wants the most: become an angel again. From Az's pov, that's the best thing he could ever give him. Crowley, his nice, dear Crowley, finally safe and happy again. They can finally be safe, together, doing good, making a difference. But Crowley is throwing it all to the wind, choosing to stay a demon instead of choosing Aziraphale and "good, light". Az considers himself to be the good in their "us". Crowley is refusing good, Heaven, him. It stings, that refusal, feels like a betrayal of all those 6000 years where they helped and protected each other. Crowley is always saving him, but is refusing to be saved.
"We could have been us, you idiot". Aziraphale doesn't understand, because the kind of us Crowley was proposing was the same thing of 6000 years. Yes, a beautiful agreement, companionship in their loneliness, but also forced to hide from Hell and Heaven so they don't get killed. Hiding, running away, always a breath away from being together, but never together, because they're so fundamentally apart, demon and angel, always separated by this big rift. That for a moment seemed adjustable, but now no more.
Tumblr media
He's not expecting a kiss. He's shocked beyond everything imaginable: he loves Austen, sensible romances, people having misunderstandings but in the end, agreeing and seeing it eye to eye, a sensible marriage/union, chosen together over shared goals/ideals. A kiss is, if anything, the seal of that agreement, the culmination of all that sensible, old timey wooing stuff. Instead, Crowley just rejected the best offer and he's tempting him again, like that night when he offered him the meat and he thought he'd be a fallen angel, after that. But this time he's offering so much more. Something Aziraphale has probably denied himself for centuries. Come with me: you will have me. But choose me, not heaven. It's lonely. It's us. Our own side.
Tumblr media
Did he actually understand what Crowley meant? Or is he just hearing "you have to come with me on my own terms and completely give up heaven, the good side and possibly yourself, possibly at the cost of Falling"? Which is also what Aziraphale is asking Crowley: "renounce to who you are and you can be with me, doing good, eradicating the part that is now you forever". A different Falling, a reverse Fall. An ascension to light, pureness, good (very interesting choice of poses, btw).
It's all this and a lot more: there's pride, there's prejudice, there's 2 people who see things differently and have a lot of problems, they're "never saying what they're really thinking" (like Maggie said). Like that night preparing for the West End:
Aziraphale: "thank you for saving my books (why do you keep saving me and being so nice to me?)" Crowley: "shut up (Don't make me say it)". Crowley: "Cheers for getting me off the hook (are you just doing this out of the agreement, for yourself, for me?)" Aziraphale: "Oh don't hank me (don't say it out loud), that's what... friends... are for (we'll always be there for each other, like always, we just can't say it more explicitly than this, me and you, angel and demon, forever bound to suffer because of our natures).
Saying what they really think, for once. That way they could have actually discovered all the things that transpired in the final discussion... a little sooner? Before the Megatron came into the picture meddling, muddling the waters? Who knows.

I DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THE COFFEE THEORY! I can't. I HATE IT!
SPOILERS AHEAD, obviously.
Listen, I get it. I understand those of you that do. You need there to be a reason. Some explanation why Aziraphale would abandon Crowley for Heaven. Some reason that he would listen to Metatron. Why he would still (after everything they've been through and everything they've seen) believe Heaven is good. You need to have a reason to believe that Aziraphale wouldn't do that to the demon he is so obviously in love with.
You have made excellent arguments. You have used evidence to explain your point. You have done a great job making sure that your argument makes sense. And I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry. You want so badly for there to be a reason that Aziraphale broke Crowley as he did. And there is, but coffee just isn't it. At least not in my opinion.
The reason is right there, in front of us all. It has been since the very beginning.
Let's take a look at Crowley. When he was an angel he was a very powerful one. (which is another bundle of theories entirely) He helped design the plans for the universe. Presumably, he spent the vast majority of his time doing so. He poured his heart and soul into creating something he believed was worth something. Look how excited he was to finally roll his project out. He was an artist admiring his work, watching it come to life, filled with glee at the thought of watching it grow and expand over millions of years, only to be told it was all for nothing. The thing he had spent his entire existence working on was going to be wiped out in less than a fraction of the time it was supposed to last. The thing he had put so much love into, was only created for someone else to destroy.
Imagine Dali being comissioned for a master peice and putting his all into it only for the buyer to paint over it because they didn't like that the clocks were melted. Imagine someone taking a Van Gogh and painting it to look more realistic because they weren't a fan of the colors. It was like that for him. So he asked questions. He wanted to know why and was rewarded by being tossed out of the only home he had ever known, doomed to dwell in a place that was the complete opposite. All because he didn't want to see his hard work, this thing of magnificent beauty, destroyed.
Crowley never belonged in Hell. That much is obvious. He was such a beautiful and joyful creature and now, he is a demon. And he's bitter. He has every right to be. And he's lonely. He doesn't like the demons anymore than he liked the thought of his work being wasted, but he is forced to dwell among them so he does what he can to make it as easy for him as possible, as long as it doesn't conflict with his morals. And he is so very lonely. He has no one. Except...
Except for the angel that helped him prime the engines for his creation. The angel that experienced the birth of his work. The angel that tried to advise him to keep himself safe. He found that angel again at the Eastern Gate of Eden. He learned that angel had committed a tiny act of rebellion of his own. Because he felt something wasn't right. And suddenly, Crowley was less lonely. He had found someone, still in Heaven, who also seemed to realize that not everthing the Almighty chose to do seemed to be right. Someone whose morals seemed to match his own.
He never wanted to make that angel fall as he had. He would never force someone to suffer the same fate he had suffered. He just wanted someone who understood him. Because he was lonely, and having Azriraphale understand him made him less so. He tried his best to show the Angel that not everything was black and white, and the angel seemed to understand that as well, no matter how much he denied it. How couldn't Crowley fall in love with him?
Crowley said it himself so many times. Aziraphale was his best friend. His only friend. The only being in existence that understood him. That really knew who he was. He had found someone to be at his side; on his side. So it became a balancing act. Keeping the angel happy and on his side and keeping Hell happy to keep himself alive. And he managed. For over 6000 years. Until the apocalypse threatened to destroy that balance. See for Crowley, I dont really think it was about saving humanity. Not entirely. He had obviously learned to love humanity over the years, but it was more than that. If the apocalypse happened, if humanity was wiped out, if he managed to survive the war between Heaven and Hell, then he would be well and truly alone. There would be no more reason for him to meet with the angel. The only thing that made his exile bearable. He would no longer have his best friend. His only friend. He would just be alone. Forever. And after that, what would be the point?
We saw evidence of him feeling this way when he thought Aziraphale had died in the bookshop. He didn't try to keep looking for Adam. He didn't try to keep fighting the end of the world. He didn't even try taking off to another planet. He just sat in a pub and got drunk, lamenting his fall. It wasn't until Azriraphale showed back up that he sprung back into action. He was ready to give up again until Aziraphale threatened to never talk to him again. Not kill him, but leave him alone. And he does what he can to fix it. He helps save the world to save his friendship with Aziraphale. He goes back to Heaven to save Aziraphale.
And when they win he finds happiness. He doesn't have to perform the balancing act anymore. Sure, he's obviously bored, but he's content. He has no home; no Hell. All he has is his car, a few plants, and his angel. And he is content. Until Gabriel shows up.
Gabriel upsets his balance. His presence threatens his perfect little world where it is just Crowley and Aziraphale, alone, together. Gabriel told Aziraphale to shut up and die. He wants him as far away from them as possible, lest his world be upended again. And he's mad at Aziraphale for not realizing that. So he storms out. He wants to let the angel deal with it himself, until he learns that could mean Aziraphale being erased from existence entirely. That means not only would Crowley be alone from that point on, but he would have been alone forever. So he goes back. He agrees to help. He does whatever the angel says to get rid of Gabriel. He can't stand the thought of losing Aziraphale forever; of Aziraphale never existing at all. And he learns it's because he's in love. The lady at the coffee shop is right.
And he returns to Heaven again to save Aziraphale. He does everything he can to restore their balance. He helps the supreme archangel of heaven run off with the archduke of Hell. He wins. They win. He resolves to finally tell Aziraphale how he really feels. And in walks the metatron. A minor bump in the road he thinks. Until Aziraphale returns.
Then, there is his angel, the being he fought for, the being he loves more than anything in all of existence, telling him everything he had worked for, was for nothing. The angel wants him to return to the beings who made his life hell; literally. There is his angel, telling him he's a bad guy, but he can be better. There is his angel, proving that he never actually understood Crowley at all. There is his angel, destroying everything he spent his existence working for.
Still, Crowley begs the angel to stay, at the bookshop; with him. He tells the angel how he feels and Azriraphale tells him that nothing lasts forever. From his point of view, Aziraphale is asking him to change who he is. To change what he belives. He makes a desperate effort to show the angel how much the little world he's worked so hard to make for them really means to him, and he's told, with three little words ("I forgive you"), that that world isn't good enough for Aziraphale. Everything he thought he knew, was wrong. Everything he had worked for, was once again, for nothing
The demon Crowley is broken.
Now let's look at Aziraphale:
He's an angel who watched the birth of a nebula. He got to witness the Joy it brought to Crowley to watch something he made come to life. He got to witness the other's excitement. He got to see Crowley in his purest form. And it was beautiful, but the angel he knew was dangerous. The angel he knew was asking questions. Something about that seemed wrong, but also not. And then, the angel he knew was gone. In that angel's place was a serpent; a demon. A foul creature who tried to thwart the will of God. Aziraphale knows he should despise him, but he can't, because despite being a demon, he is still kind. When Azriraphale was worried that he had done the wrong thing giving the first humans his sword, it was Crowley that alleviated that fear. When the flood was upon them, it was Crowley who lamented the death of all the worlds children. There were still glimpses of the angel he once was underneath. That creative, joyful, dangerous angel. But he was a demon now. And he was even more dangerous as a demon. More dangerous, because his questions about the way things were, still made sense.
The trials of Job, is when Azriraphale began questioning everything. There was Heaven, determined to let Hell destroy the life of a truly good man and the only being trying to save what little Job had left was the creature that Hell had sent to do their bidding. Crowley. There was Crowley showing more compassion for animals and children than actual angels. There was Crowley, showing him the wonders of humanity (through food) and all they had to offer. And he tempted Aziraphale. And he won. And when Aziraphale was sure that his lie to save Job's children would land him in Hell, there was Crowley, promising he would never tell anyone what he had done.
It was confusing for him. They stood side by side for millennia and he watched, time and time again, as Crowley the demon went out of his way, putting his very existence on the line to help others. To save them. He listened for centuries as the demon pointed out flaws in Heaven's plans. He knew every point to be correct and that was terrifying. Because that way of thinking was exactly how Crowley became a demon in the first place. That's how Crowley ended up being so lonely.
Unlike Crowley, Aziraphale was never truly alone. He may not have always agreed with the other angels, but he always had them. He always had someone to report to, someone to give orders and some place to call home. Even though he chose to stay on Earth, he never knew what it was like to be seperated from heaven. He also never knew what it would be like to be seperated from Crowley, the devil on his shoulder. No matter how much he hated to admit it, they had become friends. As long as Heaven never found out, Azriphale got to spend his existence having his cake and eating it too.
Until the apocalypse came. He was faced with a moral dilemma. He had grown to love the world and all that it offered, Crowley included. He knew it was wrong to go against Heaven, but he had the whispers of a demon in his ear for centuries; a demon who made a frightening amount of sense. He wasn't prepared to lose everything the world had to offer and he certainly didn't want to live a life where he only got to have a third of what he had his entire existence. So he fought against it. He fought against the apocalypse and won. And was rewarded with being exiled from Heaven.
For the first time in his whole life, Aziraphale got to experience a small portion of what Crowley had lived with forever. And it was sad. It was a little bit lonely. He had saved humanity and got to preserve his relationship with Crowley, but he was cut off from something he had had even before he had either of those things. That obviously stung. He was still an angel, but what is an angel without heaven? There were no assignments, no miracles to perform. Just existence. He was without purpose.
And then Gabriel came along, lost, confused, and in need of help. He had a purpose again. Even better if he could get Crowley on his side, because he knew the demon must be feeling listless as well. Not only that, but because through all of time and everything else, Crowley had been his anchor. His ground. He knew the demon wouldn't like helping another angel, but the demon loved to help him. And so he did. He knew Crowley would, because if he had learned anything from their time together, it's that Crowley is good.
He gets to spend time with his demon and help a fellow Angel. Who is in love with a demon. And isn't afraid to admit it. And that's new. He wasn't aware that was allowed. It wasn't, but there was Gabriel and Beelzebub turning against Heaven and Hell for each other. There was The Supreme Archangel andthe Grand Duke of Hell running away together as Crowley had offered for them to do so many times before; because they were in love. Heaven and Hell be damnd. It was possible.
And then there was the Metatron, offering him a place in Heaven again. Not only that, but offering him a High ranking position. Offering him Crowley at his side, in Heaven, where he knew the demon had always belonged. Because Crowley was good. And Heaven could be good. He could make changes. He could take Crowley's thoughts about how things should run and make them reality. They could fix things for Humanity and rebuild Heaven's opperations to how THEY belived it should be. He could have back everything he lost and MORE.
And there is Crowley spitting in his face. There is Crowley telling him he doesn't want Heaven back. There is Crowley not wanting to do what he has always done anyway (fighting for good) this time on the right side. There is Crowley begging him to stay and give up a peice of himself that he never truly let go of. But also...
Crowley is saying that he wants to be with him. Crowley is comparing their relationship to Gabriel and Beelzebub. Crowley is telling the Aziraphale that they don't need anything but each other. He agrees that they need each other. He needs Crowley, but he wants Heaven and humanity too. And he begs to have it all. And there is Crowley, tempting him again with something that humanity has offered. A kiss.
("I forgive you" ) he forgives Crowley for all of it. For the anger and anguish he has caused with his temptation. He forgives Crowley for walking away. He always forgives Crowley.
But he is still angry. He is angry enough to leave, but it is not without doubt. He wants to stay more than ever before, but he is as he has always been; an angel of duty. He second guesses himself when he hears that Heaven has the second coming planned, and he glances across the street to see Crowley, waiting for him to change his mind, but what Crowley wants is unfair. What Crowley did was unfair. But Crowley deserves to live in a world where Heaven does the right thing for once. And so he gets on the elevator.
Whether it is to help or hinder Heaven's plan is left unclear.
See, for the coffee theory to work, you have to ignore something about Aziraphale that neither he nor Crowley will admit. Aziraphale is downright sinful.
Aziraphale is greedy.
Aziraphale is gluttonous.
Aziraphale is envious.
Aziraphale is wrathful.
And Aziraphale is prideful.
But he is also full of slef doubt. And that is Crowley's fault.
Because Crowley is a voice of reason from the unlikeliest source.
Crowley is temptation for answers that no one knows the question to.
Crowely is selflessness wrapped in a snake's skin.
Crowley is goodness in the form of evil
Crowley is kind, against his very nature
Crowley is the only reason he ever began to question what was wrong and what was right.
For the coffee theory to work, you have to take away the fact that both Crowley and Aziraphale are complicated characters.
Of course Crowley wouldn't choose to go back to Hell. He hates Hell. Hell is cluttered and full of hateful creatures that want to end Humanity.
Of course Crowley wouldn't choose to go back to Heaven. He hates Heaven. Its bureaucratic and boring and full of self-righteous creatures that want to destroy humanity.
Crowley has seen both sides of the coin and that's why he chooses to stand on the edge.
But Aziraphale hasn't. He's seen what hell has done to Crowley. He's seen what they did to that once Joyous and Creative angel he knew. He sees that Heaven made a mistake. Several mistakes. And he is offered a chance to fix it.
Of course Aziraphale would jump at the chance to fix the type of mistakes that caused Crowley such suffering. Even if it means losing him. Because Crowley deserves, at the very least, that. He deserves better. And Aziraphale has the chance to give it to him.
For the coffee theory to work, you have to ignore the fact that Aziraphale would risk everything for Crowley, including the demon himself, just as the demon has done for him.
Anyway, that got a lot longer than intended, but that's why I hate the coffee theory. It takes away too much from the characters. It's too simple and uninteresting. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I would be super disappointed if they went that route. It takes away from who Crowley and Aziraphale are as characters.
Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading.

Transmasc Crowley is beautiful and I need more people to talk about it
Y'all aren't ready for the potential of transmasc Crowley.
Rowena doesn't really care about gender, and her son being trans was probably the only thing she ever respected in him. She didn't force Fergus to wear feminine clothing, she gave him a different name when he said he didn't like his old one, called him her son in the rare moments that she actually wanted to acknowledge that he existed.
When she left, Fergus got by, managed to pass because he had lived as a guy for long enough that no one remembered him before that. But it meant he was also more alone. Periods and their side effects, hormones, his body changing, he was left alone with that. Had to hide it and couldn't show anyone, because he was living as a guy. Puberty alone can be confusing and traumatizing, even more so as a trans person with no one there to help you.
At some point, he got pregnant with Gavin. And I think that would have played a HUGE part in their relationship. Fergus was already stunted in his emotional development, being abandoned and never being loved, always having to hide things. And then he gets pregnant. And his whole world probably comes crashing down, because he's pregnant and he doesn't want to be but he can't get rid of it, because he doesn't know how and can't really ask without revealing what is going on. So he is forced to be pregnant and give birth alone. And pregnancy/birth can already be traumatizing on their own. But if you don't want to be pregnant and also have to deal with crippling dysphoria during it? Crowley was messed up after the ordeal in the same way Rowena was, and it even more so affected his relationship with his son, because all Crowley could remember when he looked at his face was the pain and trauma of it all.
So, Crowley sells his soul. Just that selling his soul for a bigger dick isn't the whole story, he sells it for a man's body, so he doesn't have to hide anymore and never has to go through what he went through again. That doesn't fix him, doesn't fix what he feels when he looks at Gavin, but it helps.
When he died and became a demon, he definitely became more comfortable with his body and his identity. He now had control over it, because he could possess any body he wants. He can openly flirt and have sex and do what he wants to do, and his old body has no control over him. Of course, when he looks at Gavin, he still struggles. Can't quite shake the experience of it, but it gets better. Crowley is secure in himself, now, has regained control and also has people who are there for him, support him. He came so far from that frightened and lonely trans boy who gave birth among the trees at night. He can be himself.

Omg, this is heartbreaking...
For the past few days I have been re-watching and re-listening the trailers, and came to the following conclusion about how things appear to be. THESE ARE JUST MY IDEAS BASED ON THE TRAILERS, BUT SOME MIGHT THINK THESE ARE SPOILERS, SO READ ON AT YIUR OWN PERIL:
First, when Crowley says "I'm back', to me this is their first meeting after his long nap. Notice how he strides in, takes off his glasses, rings the bell and then STEPS BACK a few steps. He is willing to be vulnerable but at the same time not sure he will receive a warm welcome (which by the looks of it he doesn't).
Then they make up, Crowley coaxed Aziraphale out to lunch and they get back to a friendlier footing, but Crowley has not mentioned that he is living out of his car.
In the meantime, Crowley is going through a full-on identity crisis. And it is clear why: he is not a bad person, he saw being a demon as his job (see the book for a good description of that), so now he is questioning who he actually is: if his demonic employment ended, but he certainly does not define himself as an angel, he starts indeed questioning "the point of it all". I guess, he is going with self-defining as an occult force and seeing how that sits with him. In view of this crisis, his realisation that Aziraphale is not just his best friend, but his ONLY friend. He is the only person who will ever truly know and understand him, and accept him as he is. And if this is not the recipe for someone who you would always want to have in your life, I don't know what is. But herein also lies the snag: while Crowley is lonely and knows he wants Aziraphale to share his time with, Aziraphale, at least visibly, is doing just fine on his own, thank you very much. He is running his bookshop, being the landlord to half the soho properties and meddling into the love affairs of his neighbours, essentially doing the same thing he did during Crowley's hundred year sleep: he had his gentleman's club then, now he has another community. It doesn’t mean he doesn't miss Crowley, but he keeps himself busy.
Then amidst this existential crisis Crowley learns from Shax that something is going on, so je instantly gets Aziraphale into that pub and tells him what he knows. Aziraphale probably says he'll be vigilant.
Then Muriel shows up and Aziraphale is trying to be kind while Crowley is just toying around. Perhaps, at that time they decide that that is it.
Then Gabriel shows up and all hell sorta breaks loose (gradually). I am sure somewhere in the most dramatic and least opportune moment Aziraphale will find out that Crowley is essentially homeless.
- Well, why didn't you say anything, dear boy? You know I have a flat upstairs.
- I also happen to know it is currently occupied by Gabriel! I'm happy to flatshare with you, not with him!
- Flatshare... with me?
*Cries in dumbass*
I hope by the end they decide to move in together, fund a nice place and this is the ride to the tartan mountains we saw in the trailer.
Wait... when did Crowley start living in the car. Because in lockdown when he asks "I could slither over and watch you eat cake." He doesn't say it from car parked 5m from the bookshop, right? RIGHT?! :D

Words: 2,494
Pairing: Crowely x Reader
Warning: Fluff, Crowley's charm
The faint tone of music was the first thing to hit Crowley when he appeared in the bunker, followed by the faint smell of sweets. He knew what time of the year it was, and how humans often celebrated it by cozying up to a warm fire, an all too predictable boy meets girl christmas love story playing on the tv, sweets, and ah yes, lots of drinking and family fun...lovely. Though this time of year was also good for business, lots of lonely and lost saps willing to strike up a deal for some holiday cheer. As he followed the scent and music though, he soon realized that the bunker was quite empty.
Making his way to the kitchen he gently opened the door, eyes landing on your form as you mixed together ingredients, singing softly to the music that played from your phone.
"Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore, faithful friends who are dear to us,  gather near to us once more" you sang along as you placed dollops of batter onto the cookie sheet.
"Faithful friends huh? Yet you're here all alone" A rough, accented voice spoke from behind you, causing you to jump and turn around. You hadn't been expected anyone, the bunker was protected, and besides, you were just a researcher not a full hunter like the boys. But as you eyes landed on none other than the king of hell himself, your body relaxed. The relationship you and Crowley had was far less tense than the one he had with the boys, maybe it was because you appreciated his wit, even when it was aimed against Sam and Dean. Or maybe it was his charm? His voice certainty added to the mix...no you wouldn't really consider Crowley a dear friend, but he had always intrigued you.

"They had a hunt" you shrugged, turning back and finishing up the first type of cookies before putting them in the oven.
"So they left you on one of you humans most precious holidays?" He asked while making his way over to where you were setting up ingredients for a different kind of cookie. You simply shrugged.
"A hunt's a hunt...They said they would try to make it back tomorrow, after all, it's only Christmas Eve" You stated as you measured things and filled the mixing bowl. Crowley watched you in silence, truth be told he was fond of you. He wasn't sure why, maybe the way you held yourself, you weren't a hunter but you still stood your ground when you needed to. Then other times, like now, you were soft, a domestic soft that had him wanting this more often. That thought had him trying to clear his head, lest it go down the path of you living in hell with him, a loving wife and commanding queen...a thought he had been having far too often recently. His gaze moved back to you, finding you staring at him as of waiting...waiting for an answer to a question he didn't catch.
"What was that Darling?" He asked, giving you his attention. He watched your lips turn up into a soft smile before you went back to your baking.
"I had asked just what the king of hell was doing this Christmas eve? Surely you have better things than to sit around with little ole me" you stated with a light laugh, but there was a tone in your voice, so small but he caught it instantly...Loneliness.
"Perhaps I simply wanted to keep my favorite researcher company" He shrugged, truth was that he came here to find Moose and Squirrel for a business inquiry, but he wasn't about to leave you like those idiots had.
"Keep me company huh?" You raised an eyebrow, watching him from the corner of your eye. You ignored his words about you being his favorite. Ignored the warmth it spread from your stomach up at the possibility that this wasn't just a one-sided interest. It was true you weren't close friends, but that didn't stop you from daydreaming about the king himself, no matter how much you knew you shouldn't. Crowley's presence alone commanded attention and respect, he was powerful, but you always felt like there was something else there, just below the surface, something that he didn't want anyone else to see. You thought about that for a moment, before an idea crossed your mind.
"Well if you wanna keep me company, how about you help me?" You smiled, pulling the dough out of the bowl and flowering the counter before placing the dough down.
"I think I much prefer watching you" he smiled, leaning against the island behind you, shaking your head you made your way over to the spare aprons and grabbed one.
"No sir, you wanna keep me company, you can help" you smiled, holding the white apron out to him, he looked at it then at you, still not moving.
"Please?" You asked, you hoped you hadn't made him want to leave, you just wanted to uncover that more domestic side you knew that was buried deep deep down in him. With a sigh he unbuttoned his suit jacket and layed it across the back of one of the chairs, leaving him in only his black button down before he grabbed the apron and slipped it on. You watched as he began rolling up his sleeves, stopping at his elbows before his eyes darted to yours. You let out the shaky breath that you didn't even know you were holding, unsure why you found the simple act of him rolling up his sleeves so appealing, unless it was simply because it was the most skin you had ever seen Crowley show.
'Dear Chuck get ahold of yourself woman, this isn't medieval times, it's just his arms!' you smiled despite your thoughts and quickly made your way back to the dough, grabbing your rolling pin and flowering it.
"So, what would you like me to do?" He asked, his voice lower and suddenly right beside your ear, hot breath fanning across your neck as you suppressed a shiver.
"W-why don't you roll out the dough and I'll grab the cookie cutters" You stated, your voice wavering for a moment before he nodded and took the rolling pin. You went to go grab the cookie cutters, but couldn't help sparing a glance back, watching as he worked. It was odd to see the king of hell rolling out dough, but in a way it also seemed...normal
"If I can't simply watch you work, the same rules apply to you darling" he said with a smirk, stopping for a moment to look back at you. You let out a chuckle to disguise the embarrassment of being caught as you grabbed the cookie cutters labeled "Christmas".
"Sorry, just not used to seeing the king of hell in the kitchen" you smiled as you returned to his side, the dough all rolled out.
"Yes well, don't expect it often" you smiled at his comment as you began cutting out the dough.
"So, where did we learn this recipe hm? Back of a cake mix box?" He asked, turning to lean his back against the counter while he watched you work.
"Actually, I learned it from my grandma, she and I used to bake every year while she told me stories of her childhood in Dingwall" you replied, catching his attention.
"Dingwall? Your grandmother was"
"Scottish? Aye" you smiled at him.
"Huh" he smiled back, going quiet as he settled on simply watching you work, this time, you let him as you placed the first pan of cookies onto the tray. Trees, snowmen, and snowflakes. Next up were the gingerbread men, and a few extra.
"You've got to be kidding me" Crowley stated with a roll of his eyes as you cut out and placed down the angel shaped cookie.
"What?" You giggled
"Really?" You could see the agitation on his face as you cut out another angel shape.
"I promised I would make a few for Cas" you stated, before walking back over to the cookie cutters and looking through the Halloween cutters.
"But how about this?" You asked, walking back over with a devil shaped cutter, complete with horns, a tail and pitchfork.
"Not accurate" he started
"But better than the bloody angel" you couldn't help but giggle at his clear jealousy over a cookie shape.
"Here" you spoke, cutting out a small crown shape and placing it onto the devil's horns.
"More accurate?" You smiled.
"You're getting there kitten" he smirked, the nickname causing heat to raise to your cheeks and you quickly looked down, cutting a few more out before turning back to him.
"Can you reroll this while I put these in the oven?" You asked, pointing to the dough.
"Magic word?" He asked with a smirk while pushing off of the counter.
"Please" you smiled, earning a nod before he began working the dough again. You took the two pans and made your way over to the oven just as the timer went off. Grabbing the other pan out you set it on the counter before putting the other two in. The both of you worked like that for what seemed like hours, you talked about random things, mostly him asking about your life, though you did get him to spill some stories about not only hell but his life before he became a demon.
He watched you as you placed the last batch of cookies in the oven, the others lovingly placed onto plates for when the boys returned, you always thought of them, even when they left you behind on your own. In his opinion, you were far too good for them, a light in the darkness of their lives...Much like you were to him. He knew he should turn around and leave, the life he lived was not the life you deserve, you were far too kind for hell, that he knew now...But still he couldn't move, couldn't push himself away from the counter and out of the bunker, away from you, you were a weakness to him, but damnit did he want it. Want you, want this, soft music playing, the both of you in a calm, almost serene kind of relaxed as you talked. He found information about his life spilling from his lips before he could even catch it, and yet, he didn't care, the way your eyes lit up with every little detail you learned made him think that maybe...This wasn't just one sided.
You placed the last cookie on the plate, your mind running over everything Crowley had told you about himself, you never thought you would learn so much about the king of hell, and yet, you wanted to know more. This whole night had been something out of one of your daydreams, it was calm, intimate, and well...domestic, almost as if you were just a normal husband and wife and not a researcher and the king of hell himself. You wonder if this is what he would be like, as a husband, sure you knew that he had to be tough to rule hell, but maybe...Around a wife. No, you can't let your mind wander too far, your lives were very different, and besides as much as you wished for this, this calm, serene sense of home with him...You knew this was more than likely only one-sided.
"Snow falling gently to the ground
'Tis is the night before
And in my heart there is no doubt
That this is gonna be
The brightest holiday
'Cause here you are with me
Baby, baby, I can't wait"
You heard the snap before you even registered the fact that the dirty dishes were washed and placed neatly in the drying rack, turning you came face to face with Crowley, a playful smirk on his lips as he watched your shock slowly turn into playfulness as well.
"That's cheating" you laughed, he simply shrugged.
"I call it convenient"
"That is true" you smiled before adding.
"I should have you around more often" and just like that, a switch had been flipped and his eyes met yours, still a bit playful, but you could see the seriousness in them as well.
"Would you want that? Being around me more often" he asked, his voice low as he watched you for any signs that would halt his next move.
"To spend this special time of year with someone who
Makes me feel the special way that you do"
Your heart felt like it was running a marathon as you looked into his eyes, how come you never realized just how pretty they were? Maybe you had just never been close enough to see the way the light caught them, either way you could feel yourself falling more and more even though you knew he wanted an answer. Did you want that? Being around him more? Crowley may have started this evening out as just someone you slightly knew, but he was far more than that now.
"Darling?" He spoke, his accent thicker as he watched you just as intensely.
"Yes" you spoke, your words barely above a whisper.
"Yes?" He asked, wanting to make sure that this truly was what you wanted because he knew, knew that as soon as he had you, he wouldn't be able to let you go.
"Yes, I want you around more often, I want to spend more time with you...Like this" You told him, watching as the smile spread across his lips, not a smirk, but an actual smile, one that  reached his eyes.
"I'd like that too Darling" he spoke, and heaven help you but the only thing you could think was.
'If you don't kiss me I might just die'
And either he read your mind, or read your face, but that playful smirk rested on his lips once more as he pulled the hand from behind his back that you hadn't even noticed he had hidden. In it, was a sprig of mistletoe that he looked down at before meeting your gaze again.
"I figured you were more of the traditional type" he stated, raising his hand above you both so that the mistletoe dangled right above your heads, you could help the giggle that escaped you, or the smile when he used his free hand to grab your waist and pull you flush against him. Your hands coming up to cup his face as you both got lost in each other's eyes once more, before he slowly leaned in and gave you, what you hoped, was the first of many breathtaking kisses.
"Walkin' with you in a winter's snow
Kissin' underneath the mistletoe
People smiling everywhere we go
It's Christmas eve and they can see we're in love"

Whumptober Day 7: Isolation
Day seven of whumptober!
You can either read the whole thing on AO3: Isolation or read it here on Tumblr.
Around 1820, Aziraphale started to wonder if something happened. At that point, it'd been roughly forty years since he'd seen Crowley. Not as long as some of their other gaps, but they had been getting shorter lately. Enough so that forty years felt worrying long.
Especially since, when trying to contact the demon on and off for the past three years, he'd gotten no answer.
The problem was, Aziraphale realized when he found himself desiring a dinner or play companion that companion had to be Crowley. Not only did he not think anyone in the Host would want to join him, but he also didn't want any of them there.
Crowley, despite being a demon and the reason original sin existed, was a good being. His actions might have negative consequences, but Aziraphale doubted he was ever purposefully malicious. As such, Aziraphale had come to enjoy his company. Sought it out, once in a rare while, when Crowley had been away too long.
And now, in 1820, he believed he could name the emotion, the sad and itchy feeling he got when not seeing Crowley, as loneliness.
Which should be ridiculous.
Angels shouldn't get lonely, not connected to the Host as they are, and yet...
And yet, all he wanted was to sit across from Crowley for a meal and the inability to do so made me melancholy.
The inability to get a hold of him made Aziraphale nervous.
It was possible Crowley simply wasn't home for the past three years, on a hellish mission perhaps, but that seemed awfully long. And unusual, for typically he would use The Arrangement as a reason to tell Aziraphale about it.
He could have moved, but again, why wouldn't he tell Aziraphale?
Aziraphale came up with excuse after excuse for Crowley's absence, but none of them perfectly fit the situation. Not unless he was missing a piece.
And in 1821, during one of his calls to the party line, he was told that Crowley's number had been disconnected.
###
He spent five years walking through London and trying to find a trace of Crowley. When he found none, and still Crowley didn't contact him, Aziraphale began to think other thoughts.
Maybe Hell had dragged Crowley back. Maybe he'd been discorporated.
Maybe, said the voices in the dark corners of the bookshop at three in the morning, he left you.
Maybe he changed his mind about you. Hates how good you are, hates the bookshop, hates that you won't call him a friend. Maybe he got tired of you, packed up his bags, and left for America.
Maybe he's not coming back, you'll never see him again.
All of a sudden, London seem both very large and very tiny. There was so much to do, see, experience. Aziraphale wanted none of it. He wanted to sit in his armchair and not move.
Which is exactly what he did for two weeks until Gabriel came down asking for an Earthly update. Aziraphale said something about temporarily driving Crowley out of London, which Gabriel backhandedly commended him on.
The Host never told Aziraphale he did a good job. Crowley did that.
Crowley would tell him he picked good wine or did a good deed. Even when he rolled his eyes, Aziraphale detected a hint of fondness. He'd given Aziraphale a nickname. Given Aziraphale gifts. Given him so much.
Was that why he left? Because Aziraphale hadn't given anything in return?
He started collecting wine he thought the demon would like: rich, full-body reds, oaky chardonnays, a spiced mead. Picked up a bronze belt buckle with a snake. Snakeskin boots. A snake tipped cane. Future gifts, for when they met again. Things to say I thought of you, I missed you, Please don't leave me again.
He took a trip to New York City. Then walked through Boston, and Philadelphia, and New Orleans. He didn't find Crowley.
###
Back in London, Aziraphale faced the very real question of what to do without Crowley in his life. The rest of eternity stretched before him: sad, lonely, forever alone.
The demon had, in his own way, made life on Earth worth it. He was excitement and change and energy and suave charm, but most importantly someone to share things with. Crowley would talk about plays with him, pick apart music with him, identify wine flavors, sample new restaurants, sit on the couch and listen to Aziraphale babble.
Life was worth living with others, Aziraphale learned. You could be the best at anything, but you'd still need someone to share your joys with. Your pride. Your sadness. Your fear. Your honest smile.
Despite all of Aziraphale's earthly pleasures, his books and food and ducks, the planet was now out of reach. Crowley's leaving had made Aziraphale's life dim, and as a consequence he felt isolated from all that had once made him happy.
###
Time... slipped. Aziraphale tried to keep busy, to place himself in the world, but oftentimes he'd lose himself in old plays. Think to attend a restaurant's opening weekend, only to find out it was seven years prior. He tried to make friends with the humans who walked into his shop, but little came of it. They wanted to buy books, he didn't want to sell them, and he was so out of touch with the times he usually connected with the elderly who had no energy for late-night shows and drinking binges.
More than once, he thought about asking Gabriel for a new position. Relocate to the Continent. Or return to Heaven. But he knew it wouldn't make him feel better. And a small part of him hoped that one day, Crowley would show up again.
Aziraphale would show him in gifts. Tell him he missed him. Help him find a nearby apartment. And ask Crowley to tell him everything: what he'd seen, what he'd done, enjoyed, disliked, live.
Crowley had slid into Aziraphale's life, and the angel wanted to do the same. After all, if he did, it might prevent Crowley from leaving a second time.
###
The sound of the shop door ringing pulled Aziraphale out of his stupor. He hadn't thought he'd open the store today, but he might have opened it yesterday, or two days ago, and never thought to close it.
Pushing himself out of his chair, he went to shoo the customer out.
Standing before him, dressed to the nines in the height of fashion, was the demon Anthony Crowley.
"Crowley!"
"High ho, Aziraphale."
"Where have you been?!"
"Napping."
"Napping!"
"Yes, napping."
"For almost a hundred years?"
"Ah." Crowley sheepishly held out a box of chocolates. "Only meant to sleep for a few years. Woke up covered in dust and stiff as Hell."
Aziraphale didn't take the chocolates. "Sleeping. All this time. Here in London?"
Crowley nodded. " 'Course. Where else would I go? You're here."
"Oh." Aziraphale didn't blush, but if he had a working human body he suspected he might.
All the gifts he'd gathered for Crowley over that past fifty years didn't make a difference, none would compare to the knowledge that Crowley hadn't left him. That Crowley had been in London the entire time because Aziraphale was there. That Crowley, in a similar manner to Aziraphale's own feelings, couldn't imagine life without the other.
"Come and eat these with me, dear boy." Aziraphale led the way into his shop, "And I'll catch you up on the nineteen century."

Hi! I began excitedly scrambling to compile a list of points to bring up as soon as I saw your reply (with my friends amazing help) and I think I've covered all the most important events here? And I hope it gives you some insight into their relationship !!! I've also linked some things for you to check out if you want to know more at the end
Ps- I didn't reread this before posting so it may be nonsensical and be full of typos. Be warned. Also thank you for the happy birthday !!
Crowley/Aziraphale (ship name is sometimes Ineffable Husbands and sometimes Aziracrow) relationship summarised to the best of my ability
(BEFORE THE FALL)
-Aziraphale and Crowley meet before the beginning of the world, when Crowley is still an angel. Aziraphale is literally giving him massive amounts of heart eyes from the very beginning, as Crowley gets him to help him finish off the Nebula he is helping work on.
Angel Crowley is the sweetest most excited thing ever, and is excitedly explaining how the Nebula is going to work when Aziraphale tells him that God is planning on ending the world in 6000 years, so the Nebula won't have a chance to grow to its full potential. Crowley is very disappointed and starts doubting God's plan and asking questions. Aziraphale is worried by these questions, because he doesn't want Crowley to get in trouble for doubting God.
It begins to "rain" (but an,, outerspace kinda rain) and Crowley shelters Aziraphale under his wing.
(EDEN, FURTHER EXPLAINED)
-As I said before, Aziraphale is guarding the walls of Eden, while Crowley (now a demon) is the serpent who tempts Eve. Despite Crowley being a demon, Aziraphale still talks to him. At this point Crowley's name is actually "Crawly", by the way, but he changes it later. He still treats him kindly without even hesitating, despite the fact that they are meant to be enemies.
It begins to rain (actual rain!), and Aziraphale shelters Crowley under his wing.
(MESOPOTAMIA 3004 BC)
-Aziraphale and Crowley meet again, at Noah's Ark, before the flood, and have a conversation about what's going on. Crowley again questions God's plan, and questions the morality of killing everyone (including children, which is what he has an issue with)
(LAND OF UZ 2500 BC)
-Aziraphale comes to stop Crowley from killing Job (one of God's favourite humans)'s goats. Crowley reveals that he has a permit to destroy everything, including Job's children. Aziraphale takes it up with heaven, only to discover that he does indeed have permission to do this, as God is testing Job's loyalty by punishing him and seeing if he stays loyal.
-Aziraphale is still very uncertain of this. The two of them end up working together, after Aziraphale discovers that Crowley doesn't actually want to kill the children or the goats, and is only pretending to kill them (when they are perfectly safe).
-Aziraphale and Crowley have a conversation about whose side Crowley is on, and Crowley says he only goes along with hell to a certain degree. Aziraphale asks if it's lonely, being on his own side, and Crowley says no
- During this bit, Crowley tempts Aziraphale into consuming human food for the first time. This is not normal for angels or demons. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this scene is literally worse than if they were having sex. The sexual tension is so so so extreme and Crowley just lustfully watches Aziraphale devour an ox rib. The tension is SO EXTREME.
- Aziraphale lies to the archangel Gabriel in order to help Job and his wife and save their children.
- Afterwards, Aziraphale is scared that he will fall for lying to an angel and stopping God's plan. Crowley reassures him that nobody needs to know, and so he won't fall. Aziraphale points out that Crowley said being on his own side wasn't lonely, and Crowley tells him "I'm a demon, I lied" and the two sit together.
^ note, during this bit Crowley has the most awfully hilarious looking beard ever, and claims he is "Bildad the Shuhite" while lying to the angels and Job. He is both a professional shoemaker and a professional midwife, according to him. Bildad the shuhite is basically a meme at this point.
(GOLGOTHA, 33 AD)
(CROWLEY IS CANONICALLY FEMALE PRESENTING AT THIS POINT, BUT ILL EXPLAIN THAT BIT AT THE END, AND ILL USE HE/HIM JUST TO AVOID CONFUSION)
-Crowley and Aziraphale watch the crucifixion of Jesus. Crowley tells Aziraphale that he had now changed his name from "Crawly" to "Crowley".
(ROME, 41 AD)
-Aziraphale and Crowley eat together. This shows that after Crowley tempted him to, Aziraphale still consumes earthly food.
(LONDON, 1601)
- Aziraphale and Crowley are watching Shakespeare. At some point between this time and their last meeting they have officially made an arrangement where they sometimes do eachothers work, purely out of convenience. This is one of those times, as they both have to go to Edinburgh, and it would be a lot easier if just one of them went and did both jobs. Aziraphale is chosen to go, and Crowley does his bit by doing a miracle that means people actually go see Hamlet (which they present as very boring) (lol)
(PARIS, 1793)
-Crowley saves Aziraphale from having his head cut off. Just casually rescues his husband for no reason. They then go to lunch together.
(EDINBURGH, 1827)
-Crowley and Aziraphale both happen to be in Edinburgh. They catch a young girl grave robbing for money, and Aziraphale tries to convince her that it's morally wrong and that she shouldn't do it, but ends up actually being kinda being wrong ?? So he's the one kinda doing the wrong thing. Cos the poor girl is actually helping science and saving other people. It's kinda a moral dilemna though - anyway, Aziraphale sabotages the body and makes it unsellable, but once he realises he's wrong he and Crowley help the girl (and her friend) to get another body.
- during this, her friend triggers a trip wire and is shot dead and its too late for Aziraphale to save her with a miracle. The poor girl brings her friends body to see if she can get money from it, and ends up stealing Laudanum poison from the surgeon she is selling the bodies to.
- aziraphale and crowley find her about to kill herself, and crowley drinks the poison instead, becoming pretty high off of it - he then scares the girl out of killing herself, saving her life. Aziraphale points out that he did a good thing, and Crowley denies it since he's a demon. Crowley is sucked into hell for doing a good thing, and this is the last time Aziraphale sees him for awhile.
(LONDON, 1862)
-Crowley asks for Holy Water, which is basically a suicide pill for demons. Aziraphale is horrified by the idea and refuses. Crowley says that's not what he wants it for and he just wants it as "insurance". They argue and the argument remains unresolved.
"I don't need you"
"Well the feeling is mutual" is how that ends, and no holy water is given.
(LONDON, SOHO, 1941)
- Crowley returns, saving Aziraphale from Nazis. Crowley enters a church to do this, which hurts him to do (aww he's so dedicated to saving husband he'll let himself get hurt). The church is blown up (thanks to Crowley), killing the nazis. Aziraphale is thankful but then realises that his books got destroyed and is sad. But then, Crowley reveals that he did a "demonic miracle of his own" and saved the books. Aziraphale stares at him with THE BIGGEST HEART EYES EVER. A lot of people believe this is when Aziraphale realised he was in love with crowley, but that's kinda just a noncanon fan thing.
- Crowley gives Az a lift home, but him and Aziraphale stop at the west end to do an alcohol delivery to some woman (Crowley's work) who becomes angry at Crowley because the explosion broke the bottles, and because the magician for the show she does just got arrested and can't perform.
- aziraphale took classes with a magician before, so he offers to help crowley out by offering to do the magic show. Crowley and Aziraphale go and prepare for it, and the horny tension is once again absolutely unbearable - at one point Crowley throws his (own) blazer open in a way that can only be described as "slutty" (/pos)
- Aziraphale wants a show stopping trick, so they go to a magic shop and buy a rifle - the trick is that the magician pretends to catch the bullet in their teeth, while a trusted person who is a good shot shoots JUST past their head.
-Aziraphale chooses Crowley to nearly shoot him in the face, but when they are on the stage they discover that they can't use miracles, they are blocked.
- the miracles are blocked by Furfur, a demon, who was alerted by the Nazis (in hell after they died) that Crowley and Aziraphale are working together. There's a whole thing with the nazis being zombies it's,,, a bit random but
- since the miracles are blocked they can't use a miracle to make sure the trick goes well. They still go through with it. WHICH MEANS THAT AZIRAPHALE TRUSTS CROWLEY, A DEMON, HIS ENEMY, A MEMBER OF THE OTHRR SIDE, WITH HIS LIFE. HE TRUSTS HIM SO MUCH HE TRUSTS HIM TO HOLD A GUN IN HIS FACE AND SHOOT JUST PAST HIM. THEY R IN LOVE, YOUR HONOUR. crowley is shaking and extremely nervous to do it but ends up missing his head (luckily).
- The show goes well, and backstage crowley and aziraphale are just kinda chilling and talking when Furfur comes in and confronts them and shows that he took a photo of them performing together as proof that they worked together.
- aziraphale uses a (non-miracle) magic trick to swap the photo out for a dumb poster, and they are safe.
- the two drink together and are so in love and so almost horny HDHSJS ?? also during the lift home bit aziraphale offers to do anything to pay him back which sounds a bit sus but anyway
(LONDON, SOHO, 1967)
-Crowley is trying to get a group to rob a church, in order to get Holy water. Aziraphale finds out and ends up just giving him a flask of Holy water. (Which he uses in the book /season 1 main story to kill another demon) Crowley is touched by him giving him it and is super soft and clearly they r in love (I won't hear anything else) and offers to drive him anywhere/give him a lift wherever he needs to go but Aziraphale says "you go too fast for me, Crowley" and leaves
Thats really it (I think) until the main story starts - that's the background of the times we've been shown that they met before, and we can kinda see their relationship forming as their agreement becomes them just being friends (and eventually more than that) - they spend all of s2 basically flirting with eachother and clearly being in love btw
In the S2 finale, Aziraphale chooses Heaven over Crowley. He chooses the angel Crowley. He chooses who crowley was over who Crowley IS, which is hurtful to Crowley and undoes a lot of their development. A lot of people don't like Aziraphale for this, but I personally think he's just got a shit ton of religious trauma and of course he's going to make bad choices when the literal voice of God tells him he can rule heaven and make a difference. But basically their relationship died in S2 finale which is why people are so mentally unwell after it HDHD
On gender - angels/demons don't technically have a gender. They just choose to present as a certain gender. They are described as "men-shaped beings" rather than "men". Crowley and Aziraphale tend to present as male, but Crowley has presented as female before (crucifixion scene and also when he was influencing the boy he THOUGHT was the antichrist - he was his nanny) and this is canon, Neil Gaiman has said he would also call Crowley "genderfluid". Fandom tends to also call Angel Crowley she/her, just cos she seems a bit more feminine, but any pronouns are fine for anything and people like to switch it up.
A lot of angels/demons use they/them too - Beelzebub is referred to as they, Muriel is referred to as they, Pollution is referred to as they, and I'm pretty sure Uriel (one of the archangels) is also they/them?? Not sure on that one, but basically Good Omens is like queer heaven, which is probably why so many people find it so comforting and good because the representation is seemless and the gender thing is never even addressed they just casually use they/them and its just good subtle representation and I personally love it
Crowley wants him and Aziraphale to go off together and be their own side and just be happy together without heaven or hell, Aziraphale wants to fix heaven because he still believes in "good"
Their relationship is a forbidden sorta one with them being hereditary enemies - but Aziraphale and Crowley are more HUMAN than they are angel/demon. They have spent so long around humans that they've "gone native" - they are more human, more multi-dementional, and nuanced. Crowley is a demon asshole, but he has morals and won't break them and can be nice and can care about people. Aziraphale is an angel, but he can be, to quote Crowley "just enough of a bastard to be worth knowing" - he can lie and do "wrong" things and disobey.
Other fun extra details:
-Crowley's car, his bentley, is like his most prized thing ever. It also turns every disc into queen songs after awhile, so his car is always playing queen songs.
- when crowley and aziraphale have lunch at the end of s1, at the Ritz, a nightingale (as in the bird) sings in Berkeley Square. This is in reference to a song:
" That certain night
The night we met
There was magic abroad in the air
There were angels dining at the Ritz
And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square"
This is basically their romantic theme song lol. At the end of s2, Crowley points out that there are no nightingales singing.
-Crowley has some really hilarious hairstyles throughout the show. In the 1960s he genuinely looks like a member of the Beatles.
-Crowley is responsible for the M25 motorway that surrounds London. Which is SO FUNNY if you've ever been on it, because it is the worst road ever. Awful. Horrendous. Its funny that a demon made it.
-Aziraphale's bookshop burns down in s1 when az basically dies (but I said not to worry about that cos he comes back), and Crowley like screams for Aziraphale when it's burning down cos he knows someone's done it and killed his "best friend" (his wording) which is really sweet in a sad way
-Crowley really likes plants. But also he's very rude to his plants. He threatens them with murder so they grow quicker. He also just like has a massive throne in his flat.
-If you see people talking about "South Downs Cottage", this is referring to the cottage that Az/Crowley will hopefully live in together in the future and live happily ever after ndjsj.
-Neil Gaiman answers asks on tumblr, and on his tumblr there's a FAQ pinned document so you can go on there and read through the FAQ to get some more info.
Hope this is helpful(/what you wanted) and not confusing. If anything was confusing feel free to ask !!!

Okay so...
I want to get into good omens really bad..
BUT
My parents are homophobic + my sister doesn't like the plot (she says it's cringe and switches the tv off whenever I open it)
So... Can anyone here please either summarise the S1 and 2 of good omens or give me a fanfic/animation/literally ANYTHING I don't care what it is that explains it all? Please? /nf

take care
For @whumptober day 11: "911, What's Your Emergency?", for the prompt "sloppy bandages."
In ancient Pompeii, a woman finds the demon Crawly on her doorstep, badly beaten. She's aware of the supernatural -- her husband serves a goddess, after all, though he's away on business in the heavens somewhere -- but she assumes he's an agathodaimon, a spirit of good fortune, and takes him in to try and heal him with her husband's holy salves.
Content warning for period-typical attitudes about slavery and well-intentioned but very poorly-thought-out first aid.
Also, while this fic is Crowley whump, the first part and some subsequent parts are from the point of view of an original character I've written about elsewhere, so there's backstory and it might not really be your thing if you're just browsing Crowley's tag. I haven't decided if Aziraphale will show up, but the angel Lucilla's married to is definitely not him.
Lucilla had been about to go out for a nighttime stroll, because her husband Volesus was away on business, and stargazing always made her feel better about him being gone. He had explained to her that the goddess he served did not operate on mortal time -- well, no, he'd said, "Heaven doesn't really respect human lifespans, and fuck if I know what Gabriel wants this time," and he'd sounded very annoyed when he'd said he might be gone for a year or more, but Lucilla tried not to think uncharitably of the gods, not because the gods didn't deserve it, but because she didn't want to annoy them. (It was difficult not to judge this Gabriel person, but everything her husband said about him suggested he thought he was hot shit, so she wasn't worried.)
At any rate, she had been about to go stargaze away from the lights of the city, perhaps up the mountain a little, only she nearly tripped over a man lying in her doorway, which was very disconcerting.
At first she'd assumed he was a drunk, or maybe a vagabond, and she tried to rouse him, but her hand came away wet when she'd tried to grab him by the shoulder and shake him, and the coppery smell wasn't wine or piss. He made a small, pitiful sound, and his eyes came slowly open. They gleamed yellow in the low light of the street, and they were slitted like a cat's eyes, or maybe a snake's.
She had been about to get a physician, but seeing his strange eyes, she knew this must have something to do with her husband's work, because they weren't even the strangest eyes she'd ever seen -- her husband's were gold in the light, and his longtime lover's eyes glowed a brilliant red. (What exactly his lover was was a matter of some dispute; he claimed she was a daimon, and she said she was an aspect of Venus. Lucilla was on the fence about this, although the evenings she'd spent with the woman were pretty convincing on the aspect-of-Venus front. She ought to visit Nisroc sometime; she must be getting lonely for Volesus too.)
So, quietly, she hurried inside and roused one of their servants, and together they carried the man to the spare bedroom and lay him on the bed. In the light of the lantern they lit, she saw that he had a scrap of papyrus pinned to the front of his clothes, and she read it quickly. It was addressed to her husband, under the name he used when he was working for his goddess, and it said:
Sorry, in a hurry, please take care of this demon. -- M
"Should I go fetch someone to patch him up?" said the servant. Technically he was a slave, but Volesus had always asked her not to treat the slaves any differently, because they were to be freed as soon as he found them homes and jobs. It annoyed Lucilla a little bit not to be entirely the mistress of her own home, but her husband asked for so little, and he was so kind, so she obliged.
"No," said Lucilla. She had always suspected that the goddess he served was Minerva, although he said a lot of very silly things that made her sound like half the pantheon rolled into one. She had to assume that that was what the M stood for, though. "He was sent for Volesus to care for."
"He doesn't look like he was sent," said the servant. "He looks like someone beat the shit out of him and dumped him."
"He was sent," said Lucilla. "This note says Volesus should take care of him, but he isn't here, so I'll do it for him. If they'd wanted him to have a physician's care, they would have left him with someone else." She did not think the servant could read, but he was a recent purchase and sometimes they surprised her with how much they knew, so she did not show him the note; she didn't want him to find out her husband had another name.
"Get Volesus' special ointment, the one he uses on new arrivals. Do you know where it is?" When this servant had come to their household, he had been in much worse condition than the man before them -- had been missing an eye and several fingers! But her husband had infused some mixture of herbs with his own holy magic, and the result was capable of curing nearly anything very quickly.
"Ah. Yes. He showed me," said the servant. "Is -- do you know if it's safe to --"
"I can take care of myself," said Lucilla, with confidence; she was much handier with a sword than most women she knew, and at least several men who'd had the gall to try and fight her. "Go get the ointment." Volesus was awfully trusting with these servants, and she tried not to resent that; it had taken her years to gain his trust, and she was his wife. The servant must have noticed her tone, for he scampered away.
She turned her attention to the man -- or daimon, apparently -- in front of her. He was bleeding in several places -- there were large gashes across his chest and one in his stomach that looked very nasty. His nose had been broken and his lip split, and his face was one big bruise. She began to undress him so that she could better apply the holy ointment.
"Ssstop," said the daimon, trying weakly to push her arm away.
"You're very badly hurt," she said. "It's best not to move. Probably." She didn't actually know anything about medicine, but that seemed like a sensible assumption. Hopefully the ointment would help with that.
The servant came back with Volesus' holy ointment and she spread it on the man's wounds, though he squirmed and tried to escape, and the servant had to help her hold him down. "Burnsss," he hissed. She could see he was going to be a difficult patient, so she had the servant fetch some undiluted wine and made him drink it, so that he would sleep, and when, after drifting into a fitful, hissy slumber, the man's form flickered and became a large black snake, she knew she had been right. This must be the mountain's agathodaimon, and it was a good thing she'd been here, even if Volesus was away. Most mountains were pretty even-tempered compared to what Lucilla was used to, but their mountain was different, and Lucilla didn't like to think how angry Vesuvius might get if she'd allowed its daimon to bleed out on the streets of Pompeii.
And so, the demon Crawly drifted off into a confused and drunken stupor, knowing only that some idiot human had taken him in, but at least the Archangel Michael was gone, and what harm could this human do? He didn't like whatever she'd put on his wounds, but at least here he was absolutely safe from angels.

Do you ever feel like Cas causes more problems than he solves? Like, I love Cas. And I'm a hardcore Destiel shipper. But sometimes I feel like knowing the Winchesters has caused them more grief than if he didn't.. :/
No. This is entirely missing the point of the whole show.
Cas is the 3rd wheel that adds greater stability and strength to the boys. He is the 3rd side to the triangle. He is the 3rd part of their holy trinity (waves at @margarittet for reminding me of this earlier, of course biblical references are super important in this show).
He is essential to the show and to the character endgames of Sam and Dean. The endgame that will subvert the misery of the pilot with happiness in the finale (imo anyway, it’s leading to a happy endgame and Cas is a big part of it).
Simply put they are stronger together and this is repeatedly shown through the season finale’s and the correlation between them working together and winning or working apart and failing.
Plus they want to be a happy family OK?!
Tumblr media
season 4: Dean teaches Cas about free will and Cas helps them, however Sam goes off on his own and releases Lucifer = BAD THING.
season 5: Cas is the catalyst, the tool that enables Sam and Dean to stop the apocalypse, they work together = GOOD THING.
season 6: He then releases the Leviathans because Dean doesn’t trust him and Sam and Dean put their own issues ahead of Cas trying to stop the second apocalypse and Cas was trying to protect them by keeping them out of it. It is because they DON’T work together that this whole arc takes place. Don’t even get me started on this. It’s because they are trying to protect each other and keeping a distance that it all gets screwed up. He broke Sam’s wall and worked with Crowley because they didn’t trust him or deem his work on saving the world important enough and because Cas tried to keep them out of it = BAD THING.
In season 7 he is the catalyst to fixing the Leviathan issue, by working WITH DEAN so they defeat the Leviathan = GOOD THING.
In season 8 Cas is controlled, then when he isn’t controlled he makes a choice, a bad choice, because he is SEPARATED from Dean, because, and nicely obviously, Dean rejects and gives Cas the cold shoulder in the exact episode that he turns to Metatron. They are not working as a team so bad choices are made, Dean goes back to the toxic codependency with Sam in 12x23 and Cas goes back to trying to work with the Angels. These both lead to BAD THINGS.
season 9: Dean rejects Cas, leaving him alone out in the world and separated from them, he works with Crowley instead of Cas and separates from Sam for a while, they are not on good footing, Dean starts the MoC arc = BAD THING.
Seasons 10-11: MoC arc and Cas trying again to fix things by NOT working with the boys but trying to protect them and sacrificing himself again. Sam (and Cas and Charlie) working separately to Dean and behind Dean’s back = BAD THING.
Season 11 finale though? TFW WORKING TOGETHER, Dean brings Sam up to more of a brother level than a child and brings Cas closer = GOOD THING.
Season 12: Back to Cas trying to protect them and being separated from them = BAD THING re: Lucifer and dying. However Sam and Dean are working together better = GOOD THING re: MoL / Mary.
For me endgame is that TFW have to work TOGETHER on EQUAL FOOTING. BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THEY WIN.
Dean and Sam have to subvert the beginning of their story at their endgame, for me, but I mean, this is standard story structure when it starts as tragically as Supernatural. Which is being alone, being miserable, on the road with no family except each other, codependent, Dean being repressed, both being lonely, just working the job etc. Cas as a member of their family is a big part of subverting this, alongside the other aspects which have grown into play in the show like them having a home, a found family, becoming less repressed and codependent. They also need to plot point subvert things by closing the gates of hell which they opened and throwing off the shackles of Lucifer and their father.
These are all things that have been developing for years but have become blatant in season 12 as we get closer to endgame, Cas textually being family is one of them.
Dean has to let Sam go to become on an equal footing (which he has done now and will be more obvious in season 13) and has to bring Cas closer to become on an equal footing (which he has awkwardly tried but I think will be key to season 13).
