I strongly believe that Evan is very disconnected from his emotions. Normally, he's a very emotionless and cold person, but sometimes he randomly feels tears running down his cheeks or laughs without knowing why. His general mood and face expression are very "why am i crying ew thats so embarrassing" instead of fitting to his emotions. He often doesnt understand why he feels the way he does, so he goes to Barty, Pandora or Regulus to ask them why he is feeling a certain way. I imagine it like this:

Evan: "Barty, what is that urge to giggle all the time, why dont i want to die?"

Barty: "Rosie thats feeling happy"

Evan: "Oh."

Evan:

Evan: "So why am I happy?"

Barty: "Because you passed all of your exams with an O"

Evan: "Ah, okay. Weird."

Considering the fact that Evan sees himself more as a weapon and an experiment, as if his body was an entirely wrong thing to exist in. More about that here. All this could be fitting to a depersonalization, which is true to me. Yet, Evan has way too big god complexes. They're just not corelated to his body, but more to his soul and intelligence. Evan trusts strongly in his charm and smartness

Evan tries to always stay neutral, and unless he's got really strong emotions that is working out perfectly. He believes that emotions are for lower people like his standarts are too high to feel something as humiliating as them.

Now imagine him being heartbroken. Oh he wouldn't know what was going on. He would ignore the wants and needs of his body, simply acting like nothing happend. And when someone asks him about the reddened eyes he would say "I'm just as confused as you". Once he would realize what was going on it would be over for the other person though. After his sadness comes anger which leads to violence. Evan is definitely not one you want to mess with, and if someone hurt him, they will pay for it with ten times as much pain.

sue me im rewatching 7.04 but i can't express how much i love the truly insane bit of dialogue between buck and maddie where maddie, normal, asks buck if it was really that chris wouldn't stop talking about tommy, or if it was just that buck kept pressing chris for intel, and buck, unwell, objects that he actually didn't have to press chris for info at all because eddie's out here blasting his infatuation with tommy on display via (1) entry on a fridge calendar (that may or may not have been hidden under a takeout menu) that he's even had the indecency to circle, like a whore
