DPxDC Prompt where, for whatever reason, Danny enters Wayne Manor. Maybe for a gala, maybe while actually following a bat back to the cave. In any case-- how he enters the manor isn't quite as important as how he leaves it.

There are protections and wards around the Batcave and Wayne Manor, and, due to his halfa status, Danny can interact… strangely with these wards. There is one ward in particular that allows him to enter the premises with no issues, but, well-- He hasn't been able to leave now. And it's kind of a problem.

Danny has now been squatting in the manor for several days, trying to think up a plan.

I’m learning something right now. Even though I’ve tried to be radically honest I don’t think I’ve done enough. I think I should have been clearer, and earlier. I don’t think I was because I was scared, because I’ve been hurt before and so felt safer not being so open about it until I was 100% sure I was going to be making the right choice by liking him. I don’t think that’s attainable though. Maybe I don’t have to be entirely sure that he is safe or the “right” choice to say how I feel. I know that I like his hair and his face and his body and I think he is a nice young man who isn’t malicious and that we have things in common and that when I’m around him or I think of him it feels a bit magic. I know that I look at him in a way I don’t look at other people and that for me that’s special, and maybe worth sharing. Scratch that. It is worth sharing, even if I’m not sure of it. In fact, that’s probably important too. I know that he liked me in some kind of way. Enough to want to keep me around and in contact while he wasn’t seeing someone else. Enough to pursue in the first place. Enough to take notice of little things like the red shorts I used to wear when I knew I would see him. I know that he probably still likes me in some kind of way, because people don’t just suddenly stop liking people, feeling are complicated, and I’m cool. I hope that he is in love and happy and I wish them both the best, but I also hope I get the chance to put into effect what I have learned from this and from the things I’ve learned from past things with others. If that is with someone new that’s okay, but I’d like to get the chance to do it with him, because I like him.

There’s not enough people talking about how important Stephanie is to Damian’s growth pre-Flashpoint.

Bruce had seen Damian as a beast to be tamed, Tim sees him as a ticking time bomb, and Dick is far better with him but he’s still an authority figure for Damian to combat with. But then he meets Stephanie, a college-aged girl who nobody trusts and he bullies her relentlessly and becomes inseparable from her.

She doesn’t interact with him based on his past, but on what she can see. This 10 year old just threatened to kill her? Wow he doesn’t get outside much. He’s not old enough to have seen Gremlins. What do you MEAN you’ve never been inside a bouncy house before we are fixing that immediately.

They are like cousins to each other. They poke fun at each other for being lame and stupid and Dick has to tell them both to shut up. She doesn’t see him as a project to be molded and redeemed, he’s just a kid with a crappy childhood like her and if he’s nice to her for 5 seconds she’ll do something with him to let him feel like a kid. And he doesn’t look at her and see a liability or a failure or a lost cause, like everyone she’s ever interacted with does. When he’s awful to her, it’s because he’s an obnoxious preteen boy.

And then you get the “there’s room in our line of work for hope, too” scene. Because Damian has gotten to know Steph and he can’t fathom why she’s here. She obviously has had to deal with crap and is still working through being kept on a leash by Nightwing and Oracle, but she isn’t broken like the rest of them are. Damian is surrounded by people who were molded and shaped and torn down and broken to become the monoliths that they are, and then there’s this girl who seems so at peace with herself and is constantly making quips, and it’s so foreign to him.

And she tells him that she’s in his world because she believes people are worth fighting for.

I don’t really care about Disney Princess movies because y’know, I’m almost 25, but it does make me sad that they just don’t seem to do villains anymore. Like, at all. The last good disney Princess villain was from like 2009. It makes me sad because as a young queer goth kid I loved the villains, i literally only watched the movies to see the villains. Disney villains used to slap and then they just. Stoped. Who are the weird little emo kids supposed to look up to now? The dude from Frozen who was just sort of an asshole? The lava monster from Moana who turned out to be the good guy?

Why did fun villains go out of style anyway? I would argue that some of the older bad guys are more iconic than the protagonists. Does anyone remember the plot of Sleeping Beauty or do you just remember Maleficent slaying absolute cunt? Because that’s all I remember. I had a plush Maleficent dragon. Where are the dragons now
