Regarding the Dadadan fanart controversy-

I didn't see half this energy when that one crazy guy was making the "Asian", "Black" or "Indian" versions of real people, which was just horrifycally stereotypical and malintended. But so many people came to attack a young artist for drawing characters that they loved in a way they could better resonate with it.

Joke being that Okarun and Momo would be honoured to be drawn as black people. Okarun especially would be so touched that someone liked him enough to draw him. Ayase is a gyaru- an aesthetic and culture that is heavily based on Afro American culture. I recently heard that the dance in the opening was inspired by a famous hip-hop step, but I won't speak on it, because I can't find many references for it and I'm not very well educated on hip hop or dance.

Also, where the hell is this energy when people white wash all the One Piece characters or when Mirko loses Melanin with every episode? Where is this fear of "race swapping" in anime when the MC is blonde and blue eyed? Nobody minded Brazilian or Indian Miku? So what exactly is the issue here?

I wish people would stop bitching. It's embarrassing to watch what you speak up for.

One thing I’ve noticed about people in or entering their 30s is they don’t make as many compromises anymore. If someone doesn’t meet them halfway, is not up to standard, is just not where they’re needed to be, they’re just like “ok cool” and they move on from the person. Which is not to say they’re less empathetic or understanding, but more that they have learned that time is their most prized possession and they’re not willing to make massive compromises on it. They are not obsessed w the idea of fixing someone (bc the concept of fixing a person doesn’t really exist). They simply move on to someone who is up to par. I want that. I want to always move w the awareness that time is my most priceless belonging and I can never buy it back. Ever. So I have to use it wisely

turbo is connected to the last piece of his code in the whole arcade - a trophy he gifted to felix in mid 80s as a symbol of him genuinely caring about their relationships on par with being the best racer. felix also gave him one of his medals and both kept their gifts next to other rewards, but when roadblasters and turbotime were unplugged, the medal was gone with everything else

now, after burning in cola-lava turbo is basically dead, but scraps of his code still were intertwined with the trophy (after all, it was his first winner's cup, but felix never knew about it), giving turbo an opportunity to exist as a shadow incapable of interacting with anything and anyone besides felix, who kept the trophy even after the roadblasters incident
