It's very easy to buy the US government.

Some have said that blaming the complicity of the US govern on the Israel lobby is an "antisemitic conspiracy" (even though the campaign donations are plain for everyone to see & no one said anything about equating them with all Jews - indeed many of the lobbyist are evangelical Christians... who seem to care precious little about the Christian Palestinian minority.)

So I want to stress the following:

This isn't unique to Israel AT ALL.

Money in politics, lobbying & corruption has been a mounting problem in the US (and to a lesser extent, but still very significant extent, other western countries)

US Politicians are, frankly, easily bought. Biden's bought by Israel, the previous guy was likely bought by Russia.

Fossil Fuel Companies buy them. Big Pharma buy them. Anti-Union ppl buy them. The Military Industrial Complex buy them (and are as guilty here as the Israel lobby) - and each of these had their propaganda campaigns to rile up people against unions for example, or spread climate denialism.

This was an ongoing, unfixed problem for ages, and now it has lead to catastrophe.

Since the "money is speech" decision under Reagan, nearly everything in the US has gone to shit. That's when poverty began increasing. That's when wages and life expectancy stopped going up.

This is why Americans are so poor. Why they have poor healthcare. Why the USA keeps poluting. And yes, why foreign governments can just buy whatever policy they want if they offer, say, oil in return.

This is a corruption problem. Some may term it a capitalism problem, too, but even if you don't want to go so far, it's just plain corruption. No conspiracy required.

It's just chaos. The throne is empty. There is no great mastermind behind anything. No one's in charge but market forces and inertia. Like many disastrous events in history, it's a clusterfuck.

Notice also how when I say, "Trump had financial ties to Russia", I'm not accused of wanting to kill all Slavs or anti-slavic prejudice? You immediately realize I mean the government, not Russians in general including average joe russians living in foreign countries?

Meanwhile...

Not to detract from the current hot-button issues on here, but I'm still worried about Ukraine. If I were Putin, I'd be shaking Netanyahu's hand, right about now. The IDF and Hamas are both providing an excellent cover for what's happening in Ukraine, blindsiding the world to a theatre of war that was last known for involving unjust civilian detentions, recorded rape and assault cases and entire neighbourhoods strewn with corpses.

So many blogs on here dropped their Ukraine flag GIF as soon as it became more culturally relevant to drop all your chips solely in the Free Palestine bucket.

We're adults, unfortunately. You'd figure armchair activists like most of us could afford to relay blog posts on both conflicts.

Major tension escalates between Israel and Palestine

Israel-Palestine strained relationship takes a horrendous turn as Hamas, a Sunni-Islamist militant organisation fired more than 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip on October 7 towards Israel. This lethal ambush has caused grave loss of Israeli civilians including rapes of local women and ruthless butchering of kids. Hamas militants penetrated Israeli territory from various locations like land, sea and air. The Israeli military said, " a number of terrorists have infiltrated into Israeli territory". Thunderous air raid sirens and the sound of gunfire were heard across the country by the residents. Israel's Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared "State of war" following a deadly series of attacks by Hamas militants. The death toll has reached 700, as reported by AP news agency. Several gruesome and bone-chilling execution videos of Israeli residents have been floating on social media. Mohammad Deif, a senior Hamas military commander, declared the start of the operation. He encouraged the Palestinians to combat the last occupation on the Earth.

these people just wanted to get food for their families, something as basic as flour, one of the things that the very core of humanity is built on, and israel used it as a trap to murder them in cold blood

evil is not enough of a word. there is not a word to describe what they are doing to palestine. they are bleeding her out, they are torturing her and crushing her and hoping that nothing is left to remember her by when they are done. how can anyone stand and watch what is being done with indifference? how can you watch this level of human suffering, this crime against life and feel nothing, do nothing

It's unfathomable, even more so when you realize this isn't the first time Israel has done this. She was a baby. The men were so obviously red crescent medics, and still, Israeli soldiers shot and killed them.

It wasn't a misfired bomb. It was guns. They knew what they were targeting.

Anyone who defends this, for whatever religion you believe in, even if you believe in nothing at all, I can only hope the afterlife brings you your deserved suffering on a platter. Hind Rajab was a 5 year old girl in Gaza who was killed while she hid alone in a car, along with the paramedics who tried to rescue her. Yesterday students at Columbia seized the administration building and renamed it in her honor.
