I'm surprised the g/t community stayed safe for me for as long as it did but yea now there's like a zine thing raising money for gaza which yea is always great on paper but how much money do you wanna bet they didn't put any effort into researching charities and are just giving their money to hamas. that and as much as I try to have thick skin seeing shit like this in fandom spaces (tho g/t isn't really a fandom I'd describe it as... a trope community?) is very much a trigger for me, since yk, I go to these things for escapism and seeing it kinda reminds me how "oh shit that's right, everyone wants me to kms". someone posted it in a g/t server I'm in even though we generally agree not to talk about politics? if I ask not to talk about i/p specifically bc it's triggering for me they'd probably just call me a whining zionist or smth, since israelis don't have the right to escapism actually and deserve to constantly be miserable (I've lost so many forms and spaces of escapism in the past few months it's insane and I genuinely don't know how much more I can take before I break completely). I blocked the tumblr account as soon as I saw it I'm hoping it maybe doesn't get that much traction but I'm mentally preparing to unfollow or block a lot of g/t blogs and maybe even delete my own g/t sideblog. I've been obsessed with g/t ever since I came out the womb and it's really the reason I'm on tumblr in the first place, I've let myself lose fandoms and friends but this is where I draw the line. I can't let the g/t community become unsafe for me, I'd be fucking devastated.

I don't want to get too into this, but I feel like it's really telling seeing somebody say that they can't care about Israeli hostages because there are Palestinian hostages, including children (from what I know and last I checked... there are/were also Israeli child hostages)

Is it really that you can only hold support for one group at a time, or is it that you do not want to? Hostage situations are inherently wrong, but I find it interesting when people essentially permit it to happen if it's "worse" for one side. I want to emphasize: hostage situations are inherently wrong, even if you think one side is being "worse" about it. No matter the age, gender, or community they came from, I want civilians (especially civilians who had no involvement with conflicts) to be able to live and THRIVE. Anything less than that is appallingly horrific and unconscionable.

mohammed already lost his mother, father, and four sisters in the war who were killed in a bombing, and is now living in tents with his remaining family members. he was seriously injured in his foot and it may need to be amputated, but he told me that hes doesn't care if he loses his foot, he just doesn't want to lose his wife and children. his wife has uterine cancer but hasn't been able to get treatment because the genocidal israeli army has destroyed health centers. his children are suffering from infectious diseases spreading throughout gaza. there is practically no medical treatment or medicine available in gaza and the massacres continue everyday. food and water is scarce and priced exorbitantly. mohammed has made posts on his blog about their situation and i do encourage you to read his own words too.

please dont be desensitized to this just because it's been going on for so long. put yourself in his shoes and think about how you would feel– after nearly a year of the most destructive bombing campaign in history, living in hunger and pain every second with no home, no running water, no sanitation, not having a moment of security, subject to arbitrary decisions from an occupying force. no one should have to live like this.

the pain of losing so many family members, your home, your job, and everything you have is already unimaginable. please dont let him lose any more of his family. donate to this campaign and if you cant, share it with someone who can.

It's not religious in the ways people traditionally think.

It's religious in the way that these Islamic extremists want to destroy all Jews and the only haven for Jews secular or religious. They didn't care who they killed, they just killed Israelis like they are brought up to.

I do not mean to be rude, but it does very much have to do with religious and cultural history, and between Muslims and Jews. They are not attacking countries with their religious beliefs that are just as close as they are to Israel. Just because you are a secular Jew doesn't mean you aren't seen as inferior to them, same with Christians but right now the focus is on Jews.

Story

I am Mahmoud Al-Masri, I'm 21 years old, living at the Gaza Strip, an academic student majoring in Graphic Design.

I am here to ask for your support to complete my university education outside my city of Gaza after the Israeli occupation destroyed universities and colleges in the Gaza Strip and destroyed education facilities, youth support institutions and training spaces that aim to provide training for all disciplines and then provide job opportunities for young people, most of which were destroyed.

We used to have a beautiful life, despite the siege on Gaza and the wars on it. We used to have a house and now we live in a tent "displaced", we used to have dreams and we pursued them and still do, we used to go to the sea which is the only breathing space for the people of the Gaza Strip, we used to live peacefully despite all the siege. We here in Gaza have brilliant and innovative minds that learn medicine, technology, professional specialties, agriculture, industry, trade and all specialties, we just need someone to support us, appreciate what we do and motivate us to keep going.

October 7, 2023 is a date that I will never forget, we were displaced about 8 times and lived through terror and destruction and are still living it, we saw death with our own eyes and survived death several times, our features changed, we became young people instead of worrying about our future, we became tired of securing water and food for our family and carrying water from a distant place to the tent is very tiring, our bodies are tired of the weights we carry daily and the diseases that spread and we don't know what's next.

I decided to pay back my knowledge and the information I gained from study, search, and workshops by share it on social media. I will answer on everyone's questions, and make webinars as my teachers do with us.

These ideas will help educational community to grows.

My goal in launching my campaign is to raise funds to complete my university studies outside my city, to cover the costs of travel, housing, food, the costs of the university I will attend, and I am currently looking for a distinguished university in the field of graphic design. I asked my friends who attended universities in Europe to suggest some universities, and among my goals after studying is to provide a safe and stable place to live with my family.
