It's been a few days, I've had time to sleep on it and I changed my mind. The season 7 finale was the worst finale yet. In short: The entire thing felt super rushed, there was next to no emotional payoff, the main plot made no sense and I was underwhelmed / confused the whole time.

The end result, where the characters are at right now, the position from which they will start into season 8 I'm happier with than last season (goodbye forced heteronormativity), but the way we got there was... not good. (Long review under the cut. Like, long review. I have a lot of thoughts.)

Just as in 6x18 the pacing of that episode was all over the place. There was this main plot that they teased us with, the "whatever is going to happen? are they all going to survive? what will the consequences be?" and then halfway through the episode that big mystery was resolved and there were no consequences.

I remember the bridge collapse last year was super underwhelming because they just rushed through the incident in a way that gave us no time to even worry about the characters much. Buck finally was put in a position where he had to assume leadership and then that lasted for exactly the time it took him to get to Hen and once she was awake, she took over as acting Captain. Nobody was hurt so badly that we had to assume the worst. That one earthquake victim showed up which was supposed to be meaningful I guess, but it just felt random. (I doubt most viewers even remembered a random victim from 4 seasons ago. I sure didn't until someone else pointed out it was the same actor.) And then the danger was suddenly just over. The "big dramatic disaster" took up less than 20 minutes and there were no consequences. There's a reason why 6x18 only made 99th place out of 106 episodes on imdb.

7x10 repeated those very same mistakes all over again, but worse. In this case the two big questions concerning the main plot were "Who committed the arson?" and "Will Bobby be okay?". Both questions barely had to be asked at all because 1) it was very clear (and not at all a plot twist as some early reviews suggested) that Amir was innocent and the generic Latino drug smuggler cartel (loved that btw, who came up with this bullshit) was involved. 2) this is 911. The main characters don't die. The least I expected though were some heartfelt moments between the rest of the team holding each other up, people sitting with Bobby and talking to him, maybe some parallels to last season when we had a similar situation with Buck.

Instead it takes almost 10 minutes until the other characters even figure out something is wrong and we proceed to focus heavily on Athena who's going rogue again and keeps critical information from her Captain because she wants to take revenge personally. She then threatens an innocent civilian with her service weapon while off duty which - as we learnt in 2x08 from none other than Athena herself - under California law is an assault. Well done 911, a show who has previously criticised Cops abusing their power but keeps writing stories for Athena to do the exact same thing. Wtf.

Anyway, my point was that we spent so much time following Athena around on her nonsensical quest for revenge that we barely even have scenes with Bobby in the hospital. Once the generic cardboard cutout cartel is dealt with it turns out that Bobby despite having been without his own heartbeat for 14 minutes, despite having been seizing and on a ventilator last we saw him, despite the Doctor being unsure if he'd wake up at all is actually just fine. Perfectly happy and healthy even. Okay. My bad for expecting something more here I guess.

Bottom line, the main plot around the arson was very straight forward (I don't know which part here was supposed to be considered a plot twist and using Amir as a very obvious red herring twice just seems lazy), had little emotional impact and "the big showdown" was very anticlimactic. Basically the same things I also criticised about the last season finale and I don't think it's a coincedence that 7x10 is the second worst rated episode as of right now. At least the bridge collapse made sense.

One storyline they (temporarily) wrapped up rather well is the one around Mara and Henren. This will be picked up again in season 8, but for now we know Mara is in a safe place, she can have contact to the Wilsons and it might also evolve into Madney discussing having another kid in the next season. I don't feel bad waiting 3 or 4 months for how this continues. However I still think that they should've waited with the plot around the council woman for season 8 maybe. Have Henren take in Mara, show them growing together as a family, show Mara slowly opening up to them. But season 7 had so much personal drama going on already, maybe if they had pushed the incident with Ortiz, her son and her revenge plot to season 8 it would've helped keeping these last few episodes more grounded. They still could've shown Mara struggling to fit in in her new home and all of that.

Madney didn't have much going on this season. The wedding episode had its moments of course, but those were contained to the confines of 7x06. Now they've taken in Mara and there's potential to build on that, but nothing that has been explicitly teased at yet.

The Eddie/Kim Doppelgänger plot was just unhinged. It was sort of fun and I enjoyed it in a way that I also enjoy Doctor Who, Umbrella Academy or Legends of Tomorrow when they go off the charts again with their weirdness levels, but did it really fit into 911 as a show? I don't know. It's also not exactly clear yet if they're going to bring back either Marisol or Kim next season. And like, I get it. Tim Minear regrets killing off Shannon, but for the love of god just stand by your mistake. She's dead. It's been 5 seasons. We already had a plot where Eddie realised that he can't date just to give Christopher a mother figure, we already had an arc where Eddie realised that if he starts dating again he has to do it for himself, we've had scenes where Eddie admitted he was angry with Shannon for wanting a divorce, for leaving or that he still misses her sometimes, we've seen Eddie and Christopher keep up traditions to mourn her together (visiting the grave, smores). I get that grief doesn't follow a specific timeline, but still. Can we please just move on already.

Also I don't understand why they had Christopher move to El Paso. Eddie's parents are both retired, they could've stayed in LA to support Christopher instead. Chris is probably a lot closer to a bunch of relatives they have in LA than he is to his grandparents too, what about Tía Pepa? I'll be honest, even if I was in a bad place and my kid was angry with me, I would not let my 13 year old who impulsively and in the middle of the night called his grandparents (who have a history of manipulating Eddie into giving Chrisopher to them) move over a thousand kilometres away, away from his school, his friends and all the other family members he's close too. There are other options. (Also why was Buck there? He was in the room, but that's about it. Again, my bad that I had the expectation he'd be there for a reason.)

Then we have Buck and Tommy. Nothing much going on here either. I get that keeping Tommy around for 7x09 and 7x10 was a bit of a last minute decision, it was probably difficult to schedule filming with the actor etc. But that doesn't stop other characters from talking about Tommy. Instead we still barely know what's going on. Are they officially boyfriends? How do they spend their time together, do they have a hobby in common? How long have they been dating? They're still cute, but it seems a little superficial.

Which brings me to a big issue: The timeline. What the fuck is going on with the timeline? I don't even mean the obvious mistake with Tommy leaving the 118 "5 years ago". But Henren are talking about adoption and according to my research adopting a foster kid takes at least 9 months. The cruise ship disaster happened "last march". What? What is going on? How much time are we missing here? Have Bucktommy been dating for a year now and we don't even know? How long was the Eddie/Kim thing going on? Then again, if we're missing an entire year, wouldn't Buck have been with the 118 for 8 years instead of 7 as Bobby said? I am so confused.

Another thing that has been mentioned before is that season 7 barely felt like a procedural drama. It was so chock-full with the characters' personal drama that it felt more like a soap at times. How many calls did we even have this season, especially in 7b? Episode 6 was the wedding, I only remember the abduction case from ep. 7, ep. 8 was Bobby begins once again, ep. 9 only had a montage and no specific calls and ep. 10 didn't have any calls at all. Hopefully this change will be reversed in season 8 when we get more than 10 episodes again.

Only thing left to mention is the "cliffhanger" with Gerrard. Is it really a cliffhanger though? Doesn't feel like the stakes are high enough to call it a cliffhanger. They're stuck with an asshole for a Captain, getting rid of him will be an important storyline in season 8, but it's also not as dramatic as they're trying to make it seem. A big part of the reason why Gerrard's 118 was so bad back in the begins episodes is that Chim and Hen felt isolated. They didn't have back-up against Gerrard, nobody helped them or spoke up for them. That is very much not the case this time. They all still have each other and Gerrard will not stick around forever. It will suck, but it also doesn't seem like a death sentence.

In conclusion: Most of the finale was just plain bad. Not cleverly written, not well balanced, not emotionally rewarding, not planned out enough. There's little positive I can take away from this episode. Some storylines weren't explored enough, others did get the necessary screentime and still made no sense. Not all of these mistakes were made just in the finale, some have been happening for most of season 7. Let's hope for a better season 8.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending not any of them really?? i’m a Happily Ever After kinda person. i mean i have one fic that’s a scene rewrite from Your Lie in April but it doesn’t actually change the canon outcome of the show which if you’ve seen it you’ll know it’s pretty “angsty” but i feel like that doesn’t count because i didn’t write that yknow

7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? as previously established i’m a big fan of HEAs. literally all of them lol. although bad habit certainly has a pretty cheesy ending

8. do you get hate on fics? i have but that was way before my ao3 days. i honestly can’t recall if any of my ao3 fics have gotten hate? people are pretty chill on there in my experience. Fanfiction.net is a whole other animal though

9. do you write smut? if so what kind? oh absolutely. i’m a sexually active adult and i tend to both read and write about sexually active adults so i feel like there’s really no surprise there

10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written? i have before but i’m not really a fan of them now, reading or writing. i wrote a superwholock fic in like, 2016, and that’s about it hahaha

16. what are your writing strengths? i like to think my prose is complicated enough to sound professional but not so over the top that my writing isn’t easily digestible. i feel like i can write dialogue pretty well too

17. what are your writing weaknesses? i feel like i have a problem with repeating myself lol. like i use the same conjunctions a lot. and i struggle with action/fight sequences but i feel like i’m getting better at those the more i write them (i didn’t write them at all really until i started writing TES fics)

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i mean. i feel like this is so situational. if the dialogue is crucial to the plot and it’s going to be a chore to make the average reader look up what it is? i don’t really care for it. but if it’s something off handed that doesn’t really change the plot or is more of a funny joke that a reader can get by either A) happening to speak the language or B) going out of their way to look it up and in that situation it’s more of a fun little bonus and not needed for them to understand the story beat that it’s a part of.

19. first fandom you wrote for? one piece. in 2013. lol

20. favorite fic you’ve written? i really really like somewhere the light won’t reach us. it’s a character study of a TES oc so it’s honestly closer to an original work than it is a fanfiction but i think it turned out really nice. i also think liebesfreud is a really good story and i'm in the process of making it into an original novel (with different character names obv)

1. "Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?"

I prefer multichaptered fics ... my last attempt to write one-shot turned into 160 000 words long fic (still updating btw)

4. "Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?"

Everywhere ... seriously, it´s a mix of shower thoughts, 3 Am ideas and random things I thought of while reading another fics. For example the 'enderchest torture' idea hit me while I was reading some fic where to get Dream out of Pandora they hide him in an enderchest and my brain just went "wait for how long was he there? What was it like for him? Would it even be possible?" And I moved from there. That one is one of my less developed ideas but it´s a good example of my thought process ig. Or fics like 'monsters don´t deserve hugs but you aren´t a monster' came from that single sentence. I thought about it while reading some fic where Dream went "I´m a monster I don´t deserve nice things and it spiraled from there.

14. "how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?"

It depends on my mood ig? If that makes sense. Sometimes I really get into it and even make myself cry. But sometimes I'll ruin these characters lives with zero care. I certainly draw from personal experience as much as I can. Although I don't really have much personal experience with the stuff I'm writing about so *shrugs*

16. "How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?"

*counts on fingers* ehm ... well if I count in the half-baked ideas and all that ... I think I could have roughly 15-20? (I wanna talk about them T-T)

You already know about the superhero one (although I have new trauma for blob!), so I'll say a bit about a different idea one of my dremon fics perhaps? I don't have a name yet but the mail story line pretty much goes like this: Dream is a demon - cruel creature feeding off humans emotions, mostly happiness. Demons in common are manipulative, heartless and selfish beings that prey on humans.

The rest of the characters are mostly demon hunters (not sure on all members yet but Sapnap, George, Sam and Quackity are certainly there).

The plot basically begins when the hunters catch Dream. He's not very strong and thus not considered a serious threat. Instead of killing him immediately they decide to experiment on him (to learn more about demons), the problem is - Dream is the sweetest person ever. He's nothing like the other demons they've met and well it's kinda hard to dissect someone alive while they rant about the adorable cat that lives in the backstreet behind the convenience store ... (sry for ranting)

33. "Do you want to be published some day?"

Yes but unfortunately I'm not too good with creating original stories and my writing style isn't really good so .... maybe one day ... (until then the closest I'll get is printing my own stories ... that is also a way to practice book binding lol)

40. "If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?"

Honestly? I have no idea. There're just so many scenes I love and I'd absolutely love to see drawn. But if anyone ever were to make a fanart of my fic I'd be over the roof about it, I wouldn't care what scene it is I'd just be so damn happy that they liked the story enough to go through the trouble of creating the art. And any scene they'd pick would be perfect because then I'd know which scene they liked the most.

56. "What's something about your writing that you pride yourself on?"

... I'll be honest I don't think my writing is anything special, there are a few scenes I'm happy with but overall .... *shrugs*

But if there's something I'm really proud of it's probably the fact that I was able to write a story that many people enjoyed. When I started writing 2 years ago I never thought I'll have this many people not only reading my story but also liking it. Sure, it's not that much but it's a lot more than I ever expected! It blows my mind because I know that there are much better fic out there, yet people still decided to read something I wrote. It´s really crazy

39. "Share a snippet from a WIP"

daamn this is getting too long ... Imma sharing a snipped anyway! But what snipped .... I'm feeling like doing an villain arc today so I´m gonna post something from a story I haven't published yet and probably won´t be able to publish for at least few months:

He tripped over something. The tiny sharp rocks covering the forest floor dug painfully into his palms as he tried to slow down his fall and the pain shooting from his scraped knees pushed a new tears into his eyes. He just wanted to stay there on the floor and cry but hte monsters were getting closer. He can´t let them get him, he can´t! Desperately trying to wipe the tears out of his eyes, Dream stood up, only taking a second to glance back at the thing he tripped over. It looked like a fence … looking forward again, the blonde saw a tall dilapidated building.

It was looming over him in the dead of night like something right out of a scary story his mom would tell him on these good nights when instead of yelling at him she'd put him to bed and if he was lucky she´d tell him a story. He wanted to ran away from the half collapsed building but as scary as it was the monsters were scarier. That building would provide him at least some cover and he needed that desperately. He won´t be able to run all night and the air was already heavily filled with the smell of rain. It was just a question of time till the storm begins. Encouraged by the hisses and groans from behind Dream ran inside.

It took his eyes a moment to adjust to darkness that was even more prominent now. Once he did he realized he was in what seems to be an abandoned Prime church. He looked around nervously. The place gave him chills. It was clear that no one worshiped Prime here for years, maybe even decades and the place now had a sinister atmosphere to it. As everything holy did when it was forgotten for too long. The cracked, faded paintings of Prime´s angels looked down on him, it felt as if they were watching him, following his every mood. The wooden floors cracked under his weight and from the altar a soft clinging of chains could be heard as the incense swung in the light breeze.

But the worst of all was the terrible feeling that he's not alone. That there´s something watching him. Someone. No, no he was just being dumb, this place is clearly abandoned. Maybe it's just an animal that settled here. Or these dumb angles. Yeah it must be the angles. It's dark and he's tired, he's just imagining their eyes moving to follow him.

The first drops of rain hit the ground and a wind whistles through the abandoned church. Goosebumps raised to the surface and Dream shivered. It's just cold, it's just cold, it's just cold. The rain got heavier in just a few minutes. A lightning flashed through the sky and a thunder shook the whole building, just as a voice from somewhere in the shadows spoke up.

“Won't you look at that … a human. What a treat”

The question of who's there froze on Dream’s tongue as another lighting illuminated the inside of the church and the body less shadow floating in front of him. It had a distinct shape of human but none of its features could be seen other than two glowing eyes. It dived for him.

Dream screamed.

HI HI HI AND HELLO! IT MAY BE A LOT BUT I CAN DO IT LEVI! No worries at all!

1 - Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

Multi-chapter! I love fleshing stuff out and seeding ideas and all that good stuff. Lightning in a Cubicle was supposed to be one thing but now it's like, at least five I think. Same thing with Survivors. When I start something I go all in!

4 - Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

Would you believe me if I said that it just kinda happens?

That's not entirely true but it also kind of is. One of the things that I trained myself to do when I was younger was constantly narrate my life; my brain is always writing even if I'm not actually writing, and that's what spawns new ideas. And it's not an "Oh I should have a sandwich for lunch," but more like a "'I should have a sandwich for lunch,' she thought as she walked down the sidewalk.'

Also I think about something that I wish someone else would write and I think "well ill just do it myself"

8 - Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

The middle! It's so underrated. I know everyone gets hyped about climactic scenes and bombshell beginnings but there's something about the middle that's so endearing to me. You don't have to worry about tying up loose ends or making sure you get stuff right nearly as much.

14 - how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?

Yes and yes! I'm an empath, so reading emotional scenes tends to get me very much fucked up. I project a LOT during emotional scenes, but I also have to keep in mind what emotions are actually supposed to be felt during the scene.

Writing tip for you guys: if your character is angry/irritated/anything like that, shorten the sentences. Make the writing choppier. Cut out the fluff and the adjectives and everything like that, because people don't like doing extra work when they're angry.

16 - How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

TOO MANY TO COUNT. I have a couple babies waiting in the back to be published, but I can't put them out until I get some of the stuff I already have open done. One fic idea I am nurturing right now is something with Jay dying based on my experience with being revived (do not recommend btw).

23 - Best writing advice for other writers?

WRITE BAD THINGS AND SHARE THE BAD THINGS. JUST DO IT. IF YOUR BRAIN IS TELLING YOU IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH PUT IT OUT THERE ANYWAY.

You have to make a hundred bad things to make one thing great.

31 - Do you start with the characters or the plot when writing?

Plot! Everything that I write starts with a plot that I then adapt the characters to. I think a lot of people get stuck because they think up a hundred characters but those characters don't have a clear direction. By starting with a story and then creating characters, your characters are automatically in-tune with your plot and themes and you know where they need to go. That's how I made Beta, Dee and Talon!

48 - What do you look for in a beta?

OOOOO I'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS! I've never had a beta before so I'm not sure. Definitely someone who knows their stuff and their way around, but also someone whose flexible and good with anxiety. I also need someone who can put things in a way that doesn't trigger my RSD.

i stole this lol but it seemed fun so <3

What was your first ever story idea? What happened to it? it was a fantasy novel about an elf girl. i've never read a book where the main character is an elf, so i decided to write one myself. i did actually end up writing it; it was the first novel i ever wrote and i was 14 when i did it (still proud of that; it was 230 pgs in a word document btw). anyway, i ended up losing access to the manuscript, so rip, but i'm fully intending to rewrite it someday and make it a lot better than it was when i was writing it at 14.

What’s your writing routine? usually i'll put on music and just start writing whatever comes to mind for whatever scene i'm trying to write at the time. whenever i can't figure out what to do next, i'll go on tumblr and scroll for a bit until it comes to me. it's pretty effective, though my editor literally thinks i'm doing nothing all day bc of this even tho i Promise him i'm Working On It 😭😭😭

Are you a plotter, a pantser, or something in between? in between for sure. i plan things as i go. i start with an overall idea and then just...start writing and plan for the next chapters as they come to me. with the novel i'm currently writing, i've only planned up through chapter 8 and i'm currently writing chapter 4. i used to plan everything, but for some reason that made it so much harder for me to actually write the novels, so i don't do that anymore.

Do you try to tell moral stories throughout your work, or any other life lessons? What are they? there was a time where i did that, but the older i've gotten, the more i've realized a solid plot is a lot more important than telling any moral story. whether you like it or not, people are going to remember your book for the story you tell, not the reason you're telling it, and as a reader, i tend to go for stories with more solid plots than morals anyway.

What do you prefer, character development or worldbuilding? Why? both?? idk they both come very easily to me. to the point that there's been times where i think i haven't done enough of either and people have read my work and told me the opposite. i guess worldbuilding is more fun, but it's harder, which i think is probably why i like it more than character development bc that comes even easier to me than worldbuilding.

Do you have any tips for budding writers? i'll tell you exactly what my editor told me in the first class of his i took when i was 12: write like a shark. whatever you're writing, write it until it's done. go back and edit later. i've learned you can do a little bit of editing as you go once you've finished a few novels because then you know you can do it (speaking from experience; i've finished 7 and self-published 2 and am working on my 8th), but if you're new to writing and you haven't finished a book yet, don't do it. you will get caught up in it otherwise. especially if you have adhd (like i do).

Who inspires you to write the most? at the moment?? probably tamsyn muir. we have a shocking amount in common (our birthday's are literally a single day apart, though she's older than me by several years) and her books are exactly the kind of books i want to write. but also mary doria russell (duh) because we have very similar writing styles; ellen hopkins because she really was who really taught me (through me reading her books) how to write emotional stuff really well; brandon sanderson bc nothing is ever going to beat how i felt at the ending of the mistborn trilogy; and marie lu because her characters from the legend trilogy live in my mind rent free still and i can't help thinking of day every time i create a new boy.

1: What is the best compliment you've gotten on any of your works?

-Onetime I wrote a plot twist in a fic and everyone in the comments (a total of 4 people) were shocked beyond words. Best chapter ever.

2: Do you have readers that you recognize by name (even if they may not comment regularly)?

-4 or 5, yes. I read their works, they read mine. We kind of are each others' fans.

-Yes, they sort of come and go, months at a time, maybe a year.

-Yes! I love to see people's opinions on my work and build on critique. I often get inspired from comments on my works.

-Action/Adventure, but I had a romance faze at some point and it wasn't all that bad. I am currently writing Sci-Fi adventure, which is very interesting.

10: Do you read and write similar stuff or are there differences?

-To some extent. The things I DON'T read and DON'T write are exactly the same though.

-Platonic friend (preferably groups) but a romantic one pops in once in a while.

-I used to write poetry in my native language (Arabic), but my works and novel are in English.

-3 atm. 2 will probably be abandoned fics soon. That and 7 other stories I have in my inventory.

-I couldn't get an answer by looking it up, but I had to conjure the symptoms and after effects of having your earlobe split open.

-I will do the murder, but it won't be long before they figure me out.

-No... not yet.

-Of course. The more serious ones at least. small changes here and there sometimes.

-I write them down, but every time I think of a scene or concept in them, I write it quick.

-It is not what I'm planning to have as a full-time job, but it is a nice hobby but I hope I can publish and get money from writing a series one day.

-I am dying to explain this book of mine to someone, except that it is the third in a series of four and it is yet to be fully plotted. (It's called Ruins of Place, btw).

🌗🌙☀️: character notes ii

I think about this fic idea every day but I don't feel ready to write it yet. however, I can think up more backstories for the other characters!

this might be even more disorganized than the last post. as with all my pre-writing posts, I'm just making things up as I go along and word vomiting ideas. not even sure if I'll use all of them tbh.

btw, I have to preface this post by admitting that, in between the last post and this one, I started reading oshi no ko and have taken huge inspiration from it. thematically, there are some similarities since the conception of this fic idea, though they're still quite different.

but what I like about onk is how the past of the character heavily affects their actions, and the slow revelation of their past to the reader. this is something I want to get better at, so it's actually really great that I'm starting with the backstories right now before actually plotting the fic (which... I honestly don't know at the moment. all I have is the premise, and I think I'll just let the characters do what they want and see where the story goes). anyway.

> timeline

as I was working on the backstories for other characters, I realize that I needed to make a timeline of events to see where everyone was at in their lives relative to each other. as it turns out, I've thought about 13 years' worth of backstory for most of them. the fic starts at around year 14 in the table. numbers in parentheses show the characters' ages in that year.

this isn't set in stone or anything, but it'll be a rough guideline that I'll follow to get an idea of the character's past once the story is set into motion.

> character backstory: albedo, xingqiu, lumine

I've always wanted to make albedo the protagonist because he's the most uninvolved character in the fic's entertainment industry, so it will be easier to world build around his point of view. similarly, he's the outsider who doesn't know these people he's about to meet, what their secrets are, how they're all connected to one another.

however he is a bit of a blank slate since he's the most disconnected to all of the other characters I've already developed in my head. which worried me, for a while, because I do want to give albedo depth beyond just being "the researcher" character, the person who helps aether grow, or the outsider. so I'll just throw ideas into this post and see what will stick.

first, the basics. albedo is a young prodigy who grew up with alice and rhinedottir and all the other witches, most of whom have very loose views on morality, gender, etc. and are all accomplished writers or researchers. as such, albedo hasn't really thought of gender as something that really plays a role in his identity. he also grew up already wanting to work in academia and becoming a scientist. he entered university at the young age of 16 and already started getting involved in research projects at the age of 24. he is two years older than venti and aether.

every child of mondstadt grew up loving music, and albedo is no exception. he doesn't keep up with celebrities, but he does enjoy listening to music when he works. so he's the type of person who casually knows the popular artists like barbara, eula, LUMI, etc. but isn't into idol culture and the like. everything he knows about idol culture is something he learns through osmosis because he's friends with xingqiu.

xingqiu is still the second son to the guild master of the feiyun commerce guild, he's still an author, he still practices guhua arts, he's basically the same as canon xingqiu, but modern. I'm taking fanon drummer chongyun into this fic-verse though. chongyun is a drummer to xinyan's band and xingqiu is very supportive of them. xingqiu is also a LUMI fan.

there are actually some key scenes I already envisioned albedo to be in, but I wasn't sure of when it happens in the story until I started making the timeline above. I figured out that one of those key scenes happens in year 11 of the timeline. LUMI is on tour and albedo is already on his second research project. he accompanies xingqiu to a concert and then to a fanmeet. only xingqiu goes up to LUMI and talks to her, and he comes back to albedo feeling elated and happy. he doesn't tell albedo why, but the reason is because he mentions to LUMI that he related to her music so much because it felt like he was seen through it and that the song validated his experience with his own gender, even though he thinks that might not have been LUMI's intention. LUMI winks at him and lets him in on a secret: that it's exactly why she wrote that song because she's going through a similar experience herself. "but please don't tell anyone! since you shared an intimate secret with me, I'll share mine with you. let's keep each other's secrets until we're both ready, okay?"

that's basically what I had in mind for albedo up until the writing of this post. one thing I realized today while creating the timeline is that I think it would benefit the story to develop albedo and lumine's character together.

see, a detail of lumine that I wanted to write but didn't think would affect the story much is that, while aether is pursuing his degree, lumine tried getting into the entertainment industry by auditioning for a children's show. I'm not sure what kind of show yet. but think think hi-5 or the wiggles, or maybe even just voice acting.

this was more of a trivia about her character that shows other ways she tried getting into the entertainment industry, or showcasing her talents in another way before she was on the road to becoming an idol. but I think we can tie this detail to albedo. see, if lumine works in a children's show, it's likely that klee has seen it. she might even be a fan! and maybe that's how albedo first learns about lumine.

maybe he takes klee to a live broadcast of the show and albedo meets lumine for the first time. lumine, who isn't an idol yet but dreams big. lumine, who is charismatic and talented and good with kids. lumine, who works hard and has a brother who just started attending university. lumine, who is good at dancing and has stage presence and has so many creative ideas, but is herself not that great of a singer (yet!). she isn't a music prodigy like her brother, and even though being an idol is more than just music, to lumine the music is the most important thing.

this is the lumine albedo meets for the first time. this lumine is a dreamer, but she thinks her brother is a bigger dreamer than she is and that he'll do many great things in the future. all lumine wants to do is become an idol. but aether? in her eyes, aether could be a scientist, an idol, he can be anything he wants to be! he's so good at so many things! he immediately understands and intuits venti's music process, unlike lumine who has to work harder about it. he got into a good university and is reading all these books and papers that lumine would never read. he lives in two different worlds like it's easy while lumine is struggling to even survive in this one (the entertainment industry). sure she has natural charisma and "star power" but that can only get her so far. aether can learn it, she thinks. aether can go farther.

which is why lumine works extra hard to make up for it. (unbeknownst to her, the more she works hard the more aether thinks he's dragging her down).

anyway, so albedo meets lumine at a tv set where klee is one of the kids in the audience for that episode. maybe this happens a handful of times. during those times, lumine enjoys albedo's company and confides in him that she dreams of becoming an idol. she tells him about her brother, how wonderful he is and how he's going to be a great scientist and idol.

lumine: but the most important thing is that we'll debut together! just you wait, albedo. if klee loves me now, I'm sure she'll love aether. and maybe you will too. maybe you'll even write a paper together. albedo: then I'll look forward to your debut. good luck.

god, imagine his surprise when LUMI debuts as a soloist. where the heck is her mysterious brother? did he end up pursuing academia after all? but albedo is in the same field as he is, and he hasn't heard of him at all. and he would know any graduate of mondstadt university who studied ley line related courses.

I'm still playing around with this idea. it's not thoroughly fleshed out, but I think this would offer a new lens on lumine in the story that aether doesn't provide. and this would also add a new layer to the relationship between albedo and aether.

> character backstory: kunikuzushi, kazuha

I've decided pretty early on that this will be a scaraven fic on the side. I think venti would totally understand scara's whole deal since he's friends with aether, and I think venti needs to grow and not be stuck in his past with lumine and aether as well.

so scara's story is pretty straightforward. I already mentioned (edited) it in the first post, but to summarize: kunikuzushi was named after his aunt who passed away, makoto. he didn't really connect with the name or identity his mother gave him, so he changed his name to kunikuzushi. I am still not sure what his relationship with ei is like... and I'm not sure it matters much in the fic, so I'll probably just decided on it when it comes up in the plot.

kunikuzushi spent two years performing in kabuki theater, where he first meets kazuha. they become close friends as they performed together. later, he decides he wants to become an idol and kazuha decides he wants to become a choreographer. they both leave the theater to pursue their dream.

do you know 1MDS? I'm thinking that beidou's crux fleet is the equivalent of that, and kazuha becomes a choreographer there. he has dance classes, but he eventually also choreographs for artists as well. when aether debuts as Æsir, I'm thinking that kazuha helps with the choreography for his "eclipse" album. kazuha looks similar enough to aether so they can do a lot of fun mirror dancing with aether's sun and moon motifs.

kunikuzushi debuts in the FATUI idol group as scaramouche. now, FATUI is kind of a weird idol group. taking inspiration from the commedia dell’arte, it's a group where everyone has a stage name and when the idol for that stage name leaves (for whatever reason) a new idol can take up that stage name and join the group, or choose a new stage name that's part of the commedia dell’arte. those who take up an old stage name will have to learn the choreography and lines of their previous incarnations. in this way, the group will be "forever" and they can make money re-releasing songs with new idols every now and then. but each idol that debuts into FATUI always announces their debut with their own unique solo song.

for example, as a reference to the dottoclones, there have been many idols who took up the "dottore" stage name and there have been songs re-recorded with different idols singing dottore's lines. but all of the dottoclone idols have their own solo debut songs. kunikuzushi is the first to take up the "scaramouche" stage name. FATUI also has some really convoluted subunits and lore in their mvs because of this, but that's exactly what the fans love about them.

basically I want the FATUI group to have their fans creating youtube videos titled "a complete guide to the fatui idol system (all members)" or "FATUI explained (2023 update!)" like some people do for nct. I mean, just look at the chart here. I want FATUI to have a chart like this.

(I... still do not actually understand how nct and their subunits work, so this chart does not make sense to me. sorry.)

anyway, as explained in the first post, kazuha and kunikuzushi meet aether while he's trying to do his disappearing act and they help him get back up on his feet.

now, about their idol careers. it's known in the fan community that scaramouche and LUMI are close friends and everyone is dying for a collab (which never happened in a song, but they do show up in a variety show together and a choreography video with kazuha). scaramouche becomes very popular and is known for his sharp dances, his rapping (which he writes, and he has his own tag/signature in songs to show that), and overall having a cool, can't-be-bothered-but-you-know-I'm-better-than-you / I'm-trouble-but-you-love-trouble stage presence, as is expected from the "scaramouche" stock character from the commedia dell'arte. clever, has villainous traits, gets into trouble, obsessed with one thing. kunikuzushi actually enjoys this work because it really is kinda like theater in a way. he's just playing a role, a mask.

all of this ends, however, over a "scandal" that goes completely out of control before the label can do anything about it in time. what happens is this: aether (as aether, not as lumine, so nobody really even recognizes him), kunikuzushi, and kazuha are hanging out somewhere when someone (a stalker?) starts harrassing them. he recognizes kunikuzushi as ei's child and calls him as such. as makoto. kunikuzushi is rightfully furious and punches the guy in the face. maybe several times.

you can maybe get away with that as a normal celebrity, maybe even as a non-idol singer. but alas, kunikuzushi is an idol, and these kinds of things will kill your career as an idol. videos of the incident goes around the internet and the fans turn on him, saying that he really is like the "scaramouche" mask that he puts on. he really is villainous, he'll assault even his own fan, he was always rude and arrogant!!

even when they clear things up, his reputation has been ruined. and they can't even tell the public the real reason because kunikuzushi, understandably, doesn't want them to know. his career as "scaramouche" is over, and he knows that anything he does after this will not be received well by the fans. he leaves the group and the label over this incident.

this affects aether while he makes his own music after that. this, combined with his own identity issues, is what causes him to go on hiatus just six months after kunikuzushi leaves the FATUI.

I am not sure how he meets nahida after this, but it doesn't feel right to write kunikuzushi without getting nahida involved. I'll think about this some more. nahida is involved more with the academia side, so I think she'll be the bridge to how albedo meets kunikuzushi. this is a good time for kunikuzushi to check up on how aether is doing too now that they're both out of the limelight.

eventually, kunikuzushi decides to become an independent artist. he meets venti through aether and they start writing songs together. he'll debut with the stage name "wanderer" and his music from here on out is a fusion of hip-hop and traditional inazuman music, a kind of mesh of influences from his time in kabuki theater and as an idol. a lot of his promotion is probably theater-inspired as well, just like his constellations in the game.

> fic plot

as I mentioned before, I can write extensive backstories but I have no idea what the actual fic plot is lol. that's fine. of course, I can always just change the premise of the fic and write about everything I just said here instead. but... I don't think that's the story I want to tell. these are all just background information I have to guide the fic when I need that guidance on the characters.

but the story I want to tell starts when aether meets albedo as his research assistant, and not a year earlier than that. this, I am very sure of.

edit: oh my god I haven't even touched on dainsleif and diluc in this post............ but I have thought about their backgrounds too, btw. diluc is still the wine industry head and the music company is just something he does on the side. dainsleif was just starting a music company and lumine and aether was supposed to be his first artist, but with the car crash the company just folded and he joined diluc's company instead. so aether seeking him out again was, in a way, dainsleif's second chance as well. but for most of the fic I think he'll just be a stressed idol manager lol.

Alright time for a vent post

But this time, it's happening at 8am after waking up too early and not at 4am after refusing to go to sleep at a reasonable time.

Anywho, I'm scared to write. More specifically, I'm scared to publish.

If you've been lingering around my blog for a hot minute (why tho?) or know me in real life, you probably already know this. I've thrown out plot bunnies, I've found new ones, I've done copious amounts of research to feed the bunnies, etc etc. And that's not to say the research isn't helping or anything. But I know it's procrastination. Writing means finishing and finishing, in my book, means letting other people read it. Publishing it online or in a proper book. So...if i never finish, I'll never have to post and people won't have the opportunity to critique it/hate it but that also prevents people from loving it and the characters as much as I do. I write for myself, sure, but part of the pleasure of writing is seeing other people get lost in a world, in a story that you created.

I know one reason I'm scared to publish is that I don't want to seem like a bad person. Whether you want to admit it or not, the internet is...well, the internet. I'm a people pleaser at heart and if I know that someone's not going to like that I still call Romano "Lovino" instead of "Lorenzo" then I panic. If I know someone's going to hate the fact that my MC in one of my original stories is white-passing and his boyfriend is not, and therefore call me racist, I panic. And the thing is, I don't know that someone's going to say those things, but it's likely for the sake of outrage.

But I'm so sick and tired of this feeling. This anxiety and perfectionism. I was scrolling through my own blog and my 14-year-old self had no probably posting the occasional drabble or even a RP starter that one time and here I am at 22 like "Oh noes! What if the big bad internet gets mad at me for writing about [insert even the mildest of taboos here]?"

Two years ago, I posted about my anxiety and rage on the fanfiction subreddit (a very calm subreddit btw, I quite like it there) and someone said:

"If I said "You have to stop breathing right now because it's offensive!", would you? Turn blue, faint, and then try again because you keep "offending" me by continuing to breathe?

Writing is like breathing. If it's part of you, just as much as your lungs, then you can't stop no matter what is said. And it will be said, as I know very well.

Embrace your flaws. See beauty in them. Keep breathing."

And I hate to say it, but I've realized the answer is "Yes". I would. I would try to quiet my breathing. I've done it before. I'd suck in a breath and hold it and panic and then either let it out very quietly or leave the room to exhale and return. All because someone else said that my breathing offended them.

The good news is, I have written words since then. The bad news is my perfectionism finds more and more things to nitpick at. So I guess I'm making some sort of progress.

Huh, I started this rant with a different end goal in mind only to realize it's wrapped up in the problems I had before. Intriguing.

Sorry, @suzieloveships , I haven't watched Interview with the Vampire, but most of what you write about TWN is wrong. Of course, you have the right to dislike the show, even hate it if you want to, and there is a lot that can be criticised about it and that could have been better, but spreading false rumours is not what you should do. If you claim things, you have to give reliable sources for them. Where did "the writers actually admited they didn't even like the books"? What is your source for this? There is none! One writer who was fired claimed that. Is he a reliable source? No! He was fired from another project just recently for unacceptable behaviour. Some of the writers had no prior knowledge of the Witcher when they joined the writers' room, that is true, and Lauren Hissrich did that on purpose to include people who would have a fresh look at the material. But others involved in the project were familiar with the novels and big fans, like, for example, Tomasz Bagiński.

And what do you mean by "The Witcher missed the whole point of the series"? What is the whole point in your opinion? Especially S2 consisted of plot points that Netflix invented (and at least some of it is most probably Henry Cavill's fault), but S1 and S3 are, all in all, still pretty close to the books when you look at the overall plot of the novels.

About Henry Cavill, he himself said in interviews that he repeatedly changed things last minute while shooting a scene and without informing his co-actors. How would you describe this as not "hard to work with"? Fortunately, his co-actors like Joey and Anya are very professional and talented actors and managed to make the best of it. But it must be a nightmare for the directors, producer and the showrunner.

And about the "when all he did was pointing out that the script doesn't follow the book", this is also nothing but rumour and misinformation. Henry Cavill changed lots of things in comparison to the books himself, for example the taciturn Geralt who hardly says anything but hmm and fuck. I don't say it was a bad thing, but it was definitely very different from book Geralt. Cavill mostly had game Geralt in his mind when he campaigned to get the role because he did not even know the games were based off books before Lauren Hissrich introduced him to the novels. (Even my 14 year old son knew about the books, btw, it was no secret.) Other actors, like Joey and Therica, actually know a lot more about the books than Cavill.

Repeating gossip and lies does not make them true, even if many people seem to believe in the Henry Cavill myth ...

Let is be know that when I say "AMC Interview with the Vampire is everything Netflix The Witcher should have been" what I mean is "Iwtv is a good adaptation of a popular fantasy series that does take liberties in many places but at the end of the day it still stay true themes of the book, made by people who can't stop praising the book author (and it also looks like a really fun set to work at) while The Witcher missed the whole point of the series, the writers actually admited they didn't even like the books and the lead actor left the project after being told like a dozen of times "he is hard to work with" when all he did was pointing out that the script doesn't follow the book" but also "they actually made those cat eyes contacts lens work"

When Obi-Wan gets to AotC, there's also about two dozen Anakin clones on-site. They're all girls because... IDK Anakin is trans. They have a hive mind and are developmentally a few years younger than Anakin himself.

It's incredibly unsettling to Obi-Wan.

It's almost definitely a "fuck with Anakin's already fragile mental health" ploy by Palpatine, along with a "what if Jedi Black Widows, for me, a Sith Lord. Wouldn't that be neat? That would be neat."

Anakin is torn between "this freaks me out" and "GANG OF BABY SISTERS LET'S GOOOOOOO."

(I just finished reading Like Real People Do by glimmerglanger, so this is definitely inspired by that and the obligatory 'lay back in bed and daydream variations on plot points of that fic you just really enjoyed,' and also a little by Same Heart, Same Blood by loosingletters.)

They're physically like 14-16 on average, and Anakin's vibrating out of his skin with a million conflicting emotions, but when he tells Padme she's just like "oh, you have a handmaiden gang!"

I told this to @willowcrowned and she suggested:

Once Anakin decides to repress the part of him that’s weirded out and just regard them as baby sisters he gets. A little strange about it The first time one of them dies he may or may not slaughter every person he can [in response to Padme's comment] Anakin starts worrying that he needs to get them cool matching outfits

I also chatted about it with @firebirdeternal and they said:

Do you think the Clones have a kind of Collective Name that they use at first that eventually just kind of morphs into a new last name? Skysisters or something? Like Palpatine was trying to be clever and name them like the Nightsisters.

I initially went with "functionally one person" hive-mind but I'm torn.

I think maybe they're BASICALLY one person on Kamino but drift into Separate Consciousness once they're far enough apart physically that their minds don't blend from proximity anymore.

Then they start Dating (like half of them are dating Fett clones because they grew up with these dudes, it's like childhood friends romance), and Anakin loses his mind about Protecting Them and They're Too Young.

Padme: You're nineteen and we just got married, they can date. Anakin: THEY'RE EIGHT. Padme: And the Fett clones are ten and dying for us in the field. Get them rights before you panic about their love lives.

Ooooo okay so if they have a sort of hive mind then they probably don’t have names other than their designations on Kamino right BUT When they SEPARATE The one that picks Boba up on Geonosis gets a name specifically for that. Okay what if the one Padmé picks up gets some variant on ‘pretty’ because she’s always being dressed up BELLE Maybe Yoda’s Ani has a name that means thief? Because obviously Yoda is using Anakin to steal sweets

So, to make the timeline work...

I don't think anyone would give Anakin one of his sisters until after he's knighted at least.

So obviously when they're doing initial placements none of the sisters go to him or Obi-Wan.

Once he's knighted, of course they're already all placed with someone, and Anakin instead gets Ahsoka. He loves Ahsoka. She is also a little sister. He said so.

At some point afterwards, one of the sisters is left without a place because the Master that was in charge of her died in the field battle.

That sister then gets placed with Obi-Wan, because he's already mostly-successfully raised one Skywalker, so he can do it again.

Anakin gets to hang out with her basically all the time.

Ahsoka is very very jealous of this girl stealing Anakin's attention.

Anakin is oblivious to the rivalry.

He asks Barriss to look after them while he's discussing Adult War Things with Luminara and Obi-Wan, and Barriss gets an eye into This Mess, which is quickly colored by Ahsoka growing a puppy crush on the lovely Miss Offee herself.

Firebird:

Ahsoka: Ah yes, my nemesis. Anisister: Ah yes, my new older sister whom I want to impress so bad.

Anakin is oblivious to most things to be fair Anakin: Laser focused precision fighting machine who can read the tiniest body movements and predict your moves seconds in advance, who also cannot understand even the most basic social nuance. I was originally writing this as to Dunk on Anakin but then I made myself sad, because none of those things are really his fault.

So you know that post about like, Sasuke and Brooding, specifically in the context of "Brooding" as it's used to refer to Nesting Chickens? Grouchy and protective and sitting on a tennis ball trying to hatch it because they're just. "These are my Babies." Anakin Broods. Baby sisters. Must protecc. Bad Guy: [catches Ahsoka in a Trap] Aniclone: Must rescue sister! Aniclone: [fights, is not winning fight, gets ouched] Ahsoka tearing her way out of Trap: I lived bitch. Also: stay the fuck away from her. [murders so hard]

Ahsoka catches the Protective Older Sib feels by the traditional method: "Hey, only I'm allowed to be mean to them."

Willow:

Oh Anakin has no clue what’s going on. He walks in on Ahsoka glaring at the Ani and is like!!! Little sisters!!! Bonding!!! When Ahsoka was about three seconds away from tossing her out of the airlock. Ahsoka mistakenly assumes that Barriss has a crush on the Ani, and gets even MORE jealous.

Obi-Wan is like oh god. I can’t take care of an Anakin going through puberty again. He’s great with periods and other stuff because he read about a billion books. He is TERRIBLE with everything else, as he was the first time.

Barriss is like???? YOU'RE BOTH CHILDREN, PLEASE CALM DOWN, I HAVE ZERO INTEREST IN DATING ANYONE, LET ALONE SOMEONE YOUR AGE.

IDK how old Obi-Wan's Aniclone is, probably physically the same age as Ahsoka?

Except for one sister who just retires to raise Space Sheep.

I like that in this AU Palpatine is just like "I will create an army of Loyal Murderers who will obey my every whim and also be a big psychological lever on my Other Pet Murderer," and then they all just Baby Duckling imprint on the first Jedi to be nice to them instead and he has to just be like "Wait no not like that."

AND one of them Steals Boba

I want Obi-Wan's Aniclone to start dating Fives. All the sisters judge her for it, because he's a Goof. A very competent, ARC Trooper goof! But a goof.

Not as goofy as Anakin, though.

I wanted to keep quiet about this since I have a paragraph on smut in my rules, but I guess I have to be very direct about it once more.

I love smut. I love writing it, I love reading it, I love it when a story is 90% smut and 10% plot. I'm so super comfortable with smut happening, that's why I have a multimuse that's smut centric and I literally have a succubus OC. You can't play a succubus if you're uncomfortable with smut.

BUT ladies and gentlemen and fellow enbies,

that doesn't mean we have to write it if we're active partners. You want a story driven plot? Gimme. You like to fade to black? Alright! You need some time to open up and be comfy with smut? VALID. You're ace, sex repulsed, hyposexual or WHATEVER and you just don't want to write smut? VALID AS HELL GUYS.

Just don't -- don't shame me for being a lover of filth. Don't act like you're holy, because smut is a rare thing for you. Don't put yourself on a pedestal and preach how you need a "connection" or "chemistry" to ship or write smut.

BECAUSE guess what. I'm the same. Sometimes I don't feel the smut. Sometimes just throw your muse at mine and they be fucking in reply no.3. It doesn't matter really! As long as we vibe and respect another! I can write 90% plot and feelings and 10% smut OR LEAVE IT OUT COMPLETELY. I'M A SKILLED WRITER Y'ALL. I'm doing the tango since I'm 14 years old!

We all roleplay for the fun of it, or as an escapism or exploring something you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole in your own personal sexual expression. ALL OF THIS IS VALID. It doesn't matter why you RP, but it matters how you treat your partners, especially when you have different opinions about smut.

I'm allosexual and queer and yes, for fuck's sake, I'm sex positive and I'm ship positive and some of my muses are hella promiscuous. If you demand respect for your choices, you'll have to learn respect other people's choices, too. It's that simple.

Also btw, since the old reblogs confused some of you:

Eskel is not gay. Eskel is not Geralt shipping only. Eskel is not hypersexual.

He was planned that way, because ep. 2.02 broke me, guys. I wanted him to have a happy ending obviously. When I started writing him I did not have in mind to make him my primary muse. But I got so entangled with him, I love him so much, he just became what he is now.

Eskel is pan- and demisexual, I ship him with boys and girls and enbies, I ship him with human characters, with elves, werewolves, demons... but even the amount of sex he has -- you have to keep in mind that all of the threads are technically starting off a 'clean slate'. Means, when he meets a girl and he hasn't felt for a girl in AGES, he'll be surprised, because he is mainly still a little more attracted to men - every thread will handle the connection he has as unique. He has like half a dozen verses, but in every thread it basically starts off in a different timeline.

I still ship him with Geralt, but man, all the amazing OCs of my partners? *chef's kiss* and even though they never met canonically (in the show), right now I'm much more enamoured by Jaskier/Eskel. I love the potential angsty ship Lambert/Eskel.

In my opinion, he indeed shifted from being very hyposexual on the spectrum to the middle.

I started playing him as a massive submissive bottom, and that's still his usual preference with male partners, but he can also take the lead.

Overall, characters aren't written in stone. The longer you write a canon character, the more he becomes "original" as you drop stuff you don't like about the canon portrayal, etc. And we all agree that Witchers are horndogs, right? They're canonical horndogs. ALL OF THEM.

AND ANOTHER THING just because I'm a massive smut slut I'm not less of a skilled writer of what happens inside a character (and I'm not talking about the penetration here). Angsty-Shippy threads can have a much more in depth character building and analysis than a monster killing thread.

This is the very last time I'll speak about this. I'll add a statement to my rules and everyone who follows me and comes complaining about Eskel or any of my other muses being "sex crazed" will just get a block. I'm tired of being shamed for enjoying smut.

Random Miraculous Thoughts: Season 5 Catchup Edition

(Because I finally got caught up and I had to write my thoughts down! Warning: this is gonna be long. And spoilers for S5 up to Elation.)

You can tell that the writers saw people saying the Rooster’s power was OP and decided to put limits on it, which just made it more confusing in the end.

Marinette’s whole kwami scavenger hunt idea in Destruction was so clever! Also seeing Monarch get frustrated is always funny.

Poor Alya got the shock of her life when Monarch showed up though lol

They really just. Had Chat Cataclysm a person??? And it didn’t get reversed????

The Miraculous getting broken down and remade so they all look the same was A Lot to watch

Another new costume? How many have you been through at this point Gabriel?

At least this one’s better than the Shadowmoth look though

So we’re just. Acknowledging that other school years have happened now huh. Really forcing me to process that this whole show has canonically happened in less than a year.

Last season I would’ve been cheering over Marinette throwing away the pictures but now when it immediately cut to Adrien walking into the bakery all nervous and blushing afterwards I was like “oh NO”

A kiss! A real, actual kiss that didn’t get erased somehow! I never thought I’d see the day.

The funniest thing to me is I didn’t even know Elation was basically Glaciator 3 going in because everyone was talking about the kiss and no one cared about the villain

We should talk about Glaciator though because Andre knows more about what’s going on than most characters on this show

I don’t really have a favorite side of the love square, but I have to say Marichat was cute in this episode.

All this drama over who has feelings for who when they’re the same people. I can’t wait for the mutual facepalm if they ever figure out each other’s identities.

Chat’s point about confusing idolization of a superhero with real love and not wanting to take advantage of her is…surprisingly mature of him?

He made Marinette sad though and I will be holding that against him

In conclusion I like this season so far! The overarching plot is good to have, the different character dynamics are a nice change of pace, and above all, I’m SO glad it’s being released in order.

Brandon & Viv’s Helluva stream

Sorry for posting this until now, I did a lot of stuff last weekend that kept me away from social media. Anyway, here are the facts I could heard, most of the info is about the “making of” of the episodes but still was an interesting stream.

7:30- Viv wanted to give Blitzo a “clown name” but later she realized that “Blitz” sounds better, so she decided to add “the O is silent” idea to the name.

14:30- Episode two is in the works and will be out soon. This episode will be interesting because “is everyone’s favorite” according to Viv and “is going to be full of love and fanservice” according to Brandon.

25:30-Every weapon in Helluva is designed (sometimes from different angles) to help animators know how they look like, because in the storyboards all the prompts are draw in a very simple way.

27:50- Viv doesn’t like to announce dates until she is completely sure about the exact day when the animation is finished.

28:10- The crew is trying to finish the second episode this month. If it is not ready this one, it will be the next for sure.

30:20-Helluva’s pilot didn’t have many voice actors so the ones at that moment (around 4 people) had to “double up” some extra characters

31:20- According to Viv, up to three other characters can be “double up” by other voice actors/actresses, which saves a lot of money.

31:30- For example, Brandon also did the voice of the doctor in the pilot

32:55- For those who don’t know, an animatic is like the blueprint of an animation. Represent the time, the phase of the animation and how fast things go in the episode.

33:45- There are different departments for different parts of the episode, like backgrounds, prompts, color, clean up, etc.

35:00- Sam (@probfakeblonde on twitter) is the one in charge of background. She likes to look at different online stuff to get inspired (or “shopping” like she calls it) to design the different places for the episodes.

37:05- There is another department called “key colors” where artists make the color palette for the key scenes of the episodes

37:30- There will be a clown character in the second episode and the scene will have “amazing colors”

39:00- Viv helped in the color palatte for the scene where Blitzo is running away in the woods.

46:50-A lot of Blitzo’s lines are improvised by Brandon

48:30- Brandon and Viv used to meet up once a week in a restaurant to write the first season’s episodes

50:00-Viv would like to do a stream with all the Helluva’s voice cast in the future

52:00- Viv and Chris O’Neal (also known as Oney from Oney plays) are friends

56:00- “Working with Jinkx Monsoon was great” according to Viv. They like Helluva so much, not only they did the voice of Martha but also collaborated with other voices for the first episode (they are a famous drag queen from Dru Paul Drag Race btw).

58:00- The cast for Helluva now is done through a casting agency called Horseless Cowboy. So, if you are interested in working for Helluva you would have to contact them. The cast is very small tho. so, you would have to be patient for a roll to be needed in the future episodes.

59:50- There is a possibility of bringing the characters of the first episode back. Maybe at the end of the season.

1:01:00- Helluva is a story that could go on eternally, but Viv is interested in the plot being based in the emotional grown of the characters through the episodes.

1:08:00- Despite they messing up, the Imps are actually good in what they do, there even will be a future episode focused in their abilities.

1:10:00- There is 5 board artists and they have the freedom to express how the scenes that are not described in the script play out. For example, the fights, because in the script it just says “they fight” but the board artists choose how exactly that happens.

PS: For those who dont know Viv made the voice of the cashier in the first episode.

PS2: Also Mara Wilson, the actress who play the rol of Matilda, did the voice for Mrs. Mayberry
