Do you think demons are complaining about how easy it is to get souls now? Have the Dark Romance and PNR genres just ruined the challenge of getting souls?

Like, are they in demon bars talking about, "You won't believe what happened to me! I manifested in this woman's apartment and before I could even offer her a deal, she asked to see my dick!" says Tor'guth, sounding peeved.

"No!" says his friend Rag'thtuh, looking aghast.

"Yeah! So I ignored that and I said, 'I'm here to offer you fame and fortune!' and she said, "yeah, yeah, fine, that's great, you can have it - can I see your cock now? Do you have a tail?"

"So . . so did you, uh, you know, manifest them for her?" asks Rag.

"Of course not! I said that's very personal, madam - that's really not appropriate!" answers Tor'guth, sounding just a tad uncertain.

"Then did you ever get her to sign a contract?" asks Rag, concern growing in his voice.

"Contract? No, no we're dating though, I think. Maybe? I told her about that time that angel Caphriel almost stabbed me, and she said 'Angels, such assholes, amiright?'" answers Tor, "so we went out dancing and then got some Thai takeaway."

"You're still going to make quota though, right," asks Rag, because even though business is booming in the Underworld, everyone still has to exceed year-over-year numbers so the goals just keep getting higher. you know, because it is still Hell, right?

"Oh yeah," says Tor, waving a hand dismissively, "no worries there. No one cares about their eternal soul when I promise they'll be able to make rent, buy food and afford their meds. Throw in a magical familiar and they tell all their friends." Tor shrugs and then swats away his tail that appears to be reaching over the bar for his friend's whiskey.

"So you uh, kept the tail?" Rags asks, eyebrows raised.

"Yeah, she likes the tail. Kept both the dicks, too." answers Tor, waggling his eyebrows. Rag nods his approval and lifts his whiskey in a toast. "To the decline of mankind and the rise of demon smut!" UPDATE: The Catholic Church, showing their concern over the diminishing numbers of people requesting exorcisms ("No one seems to want the demons to leave!"), has recruited some of its more attractive priests to create a "Hot Priests for Exorcisms" (a la The Hot Firemen) calendar. There will also be a 24/7 hotline. The Church is hopeful that this will not only help with the demon problem, but make the Catholic Church sexy again. Or something.

Solomon Island Prehensile-tailed Skink (Corucia zebrata), family Scincidae, endemic to the Solomon Islands archipelago

Arboreal, herbivorous, crepuscular.

The largest known species of skink, they can grow to a total length of 32 inches (81 cm).

Live-bearing, they provide parental care for the young, after birth, as well. Females are known to be fiercely protective of the young.

They are actually social, and live in extended family groups.

This has been scientifically proven to be one of the best lizards, and I love them.

living weapon whumpee who's never known anything but pain and violence.

their existence hurts. they were made to be effective, not happy, and their masters decided that keeping them in constant pain provided better results. they're wilder, more unpredictable, and the pain keeps them from thinking straight enough to question anything.

they're only given painkillers, only allowed a respite from their seemingly endless suffering, after a successful mission. it keeps them loyal, and most importantly, teaches their brain to associate acts of violence with relief and rewards.

everyone they've ever met has treated them as a tool, a monster, or both. they don't know how to be anything else.

that is until they're rampaging through a village, destroying, killing, whatever their masters demand of them. whatever will give them a few blissful hours of numbness.

one of the villagers steps out of a ruined building and looks them straight in the eyes. whumpee expects fear, hatred, disgust, the things they see in the faces of every person who's ever crossed their path. but they see something completely different.

compassion.

whumpee is so stunned, they don't think to move or do anything at all as the villager steps closer, gently reaching out a hand to cup whumpee's face.

"oh, poor thing." they murmur, taking in the creature in front of them - part human, part animal, part machine. "they've done a number on you, huh?"

whumpee blinks at them. pain continues to course through their body, but the gentle hand on their cheek distracts them, even if just a little. all the indistinct noise in their foggy, addled mind finally goes quiet.

caretaker had stepped out in front of the being destroying their home with the intention to get through to it or die trying, and the expectation to absolutely die trying.

they did not at all expect the seemingly feral mishmash of metal, fur, and flesh to lean so heavily into their touch that they nearly collapsed into caretaker's arms.

Also! I feel like people can be a bit too mean about Hercule sometimes (because okay. the bit about claiming ki techniques as tricks is one thing, and like. I get where people come from in him taking the credit for Cell but also come on. Gohan would not want to be famous pls) AND I feel like the presence of animal people and other weird stuff on earth drops off as the series progresses, which out of universe is because of the change in tone but in universe is like. That has implications.

So. Concept of Hercule as yes, a bit (or a lot of) a glory hound and a showboat but also as someone who uses that influence to, like, champion the rights for the various non-human sapient Earthlings particularly as they start to get pushed to the sidelines of urbanization. (And, you know, given I make the Ox King an actual ruler in my au, and I have the Ox Kingdom as one of the larger/more prominent kingdoms with the rare majority of non-human sapients, also potential for earlier interaction between Gohan and Videl <3)
