Closet Chronicles: The Irish Green Hoodie Edition
Tumblr media
In the vast tapestry of our lives, there are certain garments that become more than just pieces of fabric; they transform into cherished companions, witnesses to our stories. Nestled in the corner of my closet, there lies a humble garment that has weathered the storms of time and fashion trends—the Irish Green Hoodie. Join me on a journey through the Closet Chronicles as we explore the sentimental value and timeless charm of this well-worn, emerald-hued treasure.
The Genesis:
Every piece of clothing has its origin story, and my Irish Green Hoodie is no exception. Acquired during a trip to the enchanting landscapes of Ireland, it was more than just a souvenir; it became a tangible memory of the lush greenery, the warmth of the locals, and the captivating folklore that weaved its way through the misty air. Little did I know, this unassuming hoodie would become a steadfast companion in the chapters of my life.
Comfort Personified:
Clothing is not merely about aesthetics; it's about how it makes us feel. The Irish Green Hoodie, with its soft, well-worn cotton and the snug embrace of the hood, embodies comfort personified. Whether facing a chilly evening or seeking solace on a lazy Sunday, this hoodie is a reliable source of warmth and reassurance. Its faded fabric tells tales of countless moments of relaxation, from curled up reading sessions to binge-watching favorite TV shows.
A Palette of Memories:
The Irish Green Hoodie has become a canvas, painted with memories of adventures and escapades. Each stain and faded patch narrates a different story—a spilled cup of coffee from a late-night writing session, the smudges from an impromptu hike in the woods, and the worn-out elbows from hours spent lost in thought. It's a wearable chronicle of laughter, tears, and everything in between.
The Fashion of Sentiment:
Trends come and go, but sentiment transcends the ephemeral nature of style. The Irish Green Hoodie has weathered the storms of fashion, standing resilient against the ever-changing tides of sartorial preferences. Its enduring appeal lies not in its conformity to trends but in its ability to embody personal style, a fashion statement of sentimental value.
Symbol of Irish Resilience:
Beyond its physical attributes, the Irish Green Hoodie carries the spirit of Ireland within its threads. It symbolizes the resilience of a nation that has faced its fair share of challenges. Wearing it feels like donning a piece of Irish heritage, a reminder that strength can be found in simplicity and that even the most unassuming garments can carry profound cultural significance.
Legacy of Sustainability:
In a world increasingly conscious of environmental impact, the Irish Green Hoodie stands as a testament to sustainability. Its longevity defies the throwaway culture that pervades the fashion industry. As we navigate the path towards a more sustainable future, this hoodie serves as a reminder that cherished garments can be treasured for years, contributing to a more responsible approach to fashion consumption.
Conclusion:
In concluding the journey through the Closet Chronicles: The Irish Green Hoodie Edition, it's evident that this unassuming garment transcends its material existence. The Irish Green Hoodie embodies the essence of comfort, sentiment, and cultural resilience. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of fashion, this hoodie stands as a symbol of timeless style, rooted in personal narratives and enduring memories. Its faded green hue and well-worn fabric tell stories of adventures, laughter, and the quiet moments of solace. In a world increasingly mindful of sustainability, the Irish Green Hoodie champions a legacy of responsible fashion consumption, urging us to cherish and prolong the life of our garments.

The dolls' house in the drawing room came from Newbridge, Donabate; it was probably made by the estate carpenter there in the eighteenth century. Inside there are three great empty rooms and, above child height, utilitarian shelves. Desmond Guinness has commissioned miniature copies of Irish furniture to furnish it once more.

When I lived in the Republic of Ireland, I quickly learned that no one but the tourists stop for a red pedestrian crossing light unless there are cars coming. The first time my mom visited me, I explained that jaywalking is against the law in the RoI, but neither pedestrians nor the Garda (the national police and security service of Ireland) give a flying fuck about the law. In fact, motorists expect people to jaywalk and will drive accordingly, e. g. looking out for pedestrians crossing at any time.
My mom then coined the term "Irish Green," referring to traffic lights for pedestrians. To this day, my family and friends say "it's Irish Green" when they mean it's red but there are no cars coming, so we might as well jaywalk. 😉
So people just cross the road here? Like they don't wait for the light every time? When I was a kid everyone told me that if I jaywalked I would get run over. I was walking around yesterday and a bunch of people just jaywalked right in front of cop. The cop was doing something else but wtf! If you are from Boston could you please explain this to me.

Nature: Clovers and Shamrocks
May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you

The pedimented mantel in the hall comes from Ardgillan in County Dublin and is made of Kilkenny marble. Combined with the arms of the Gorges family of County Meath, set within, it provides a focal point in the hall and a fine setting for the fire that burns continuously through the winter months.

What is “Celtic”?
by autumn sierra
The Celtic Nations reach from the British Isles in the Northern Atlantic, down further South to the countries of Europe’s Western coast.
Tumblr media
Although many people associate “Celtic” with Scotland and Ireland, the word is a more encompassing term for these many individual cultures. They are known to have commonalities in their theology and folk practices considering they were of similar regions in history, but are unique in their own rights of course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over time, the Celtic people of Central Europe migrated to the outer Western and Northwestern regions. The graphic above gives some further insight to how the categorization of ethnicities evolved over the centuries into the Goidelic and Brythonic peoples that we are most familiar with in the 21st Century. (My practice focuses primarily on the Goidelic cultures, with a bit of influence from the Brythonic, but all of these are valid to include in a historically significant folk practice.)
So, if you’re considering studying Celtic folk magick or Celtic paganism in its broader form, take into consideration that you may be adopting a much heavier workload than originally anticipated.
