Free Pakhshan Azizi: we demand a pardon for the Iranian humanitarian activist.
The story of Pakhshan Azizi, an Iranian activist and humanitarian worker, touches us deeply.
Azizi, sentenced to death by an Iranian court after being accused of ‘rebellion’, is currently detained in Evin prison in Tehran.
Her arrest took place in August 2023, in what Amnesty International denounced as a ‘grossly unfair’ trial. Azizi, like many other courageous women activists, is in total isolation, subjected to a harsh prison regime.
The prison in Evin is the same one where journalist Cecilia Sala was detained, thanks to whom we now all know that there are hundreds of women, like Azizi, imprisoned simply because they dared to peacefully voice their dissent against the regime. Sala's words encourage us: ‘Let us not leave them alone, let us help them! We can!’
It is time to join forces and demand that Pakhshan Azizi be pardoned and released from prison, affirming the universal right to freedom of expression.
We cannot allow the repression and violation of human rights to continue unnoticed.
For this reason, international attention can make a difference and every signature can help save Azizi's life.
We demand that Iranian humanitarian activist Pakhshan Azizi be pardoned and released from prison. Please sign this petition!

But they also posted there could be an attack “in hours” and there wasn’t.
Time will tell.
If world war 3 is about to begin.
But so far it seems as though no action has been taken.

Muhammad Reza Zahedi, senior Quds Force in Syria, was killed in an attack in Damascus.
He is the Iranian senior military officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
A step up: an attack attributed to Israel on a building near the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
Around 17:00 the Syrian reports of an Israeli attack on Damascus began and it quickly became clear that the target of the attack was the building attached to the Iranian embassy building in the Almaza neighborhood of Damascus, the capital of Syria.
The building that was attacked and completely destroyed is circled in red. The Iranian embassy building is circled in yellow.
It should be said that it is customary for an embassy to be under the jurisdiction of the country to which it belongs. That is, the Iranian embassy in Syria is considered sovereign Iranian territory.
Even security forces of the country where the embassy is hosted cannot enter the embassy's premises without approval.
(This is, for example, the reason why the Mossad agents who tried to eliminate Khaled Mashal in 1997 in Jordan fled to the Israeli Embassy in Jordan.)
The military is on high alert in the north.

What we've learned from the past 6 months is that 'International law' only applies when the USA says it applies.
It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.
So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.
Reuters reporters at the site in the Mezzeh district of Damascus saw emergency workers clambering atop rubble of a destroyed building inside the diplomatic compound, adjacent to the main Iranian embassy building. Emergency vehicles were parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole by the debris.
Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in its Quds Force, which is an elite foreign espionage and paramilitary arm.
This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.
The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon

Making Me Grrrrrrrrowl ...
Just two bits of news that have raised my hackles this weekend … Ohio’s Secretary of State, one Frank LaRose, has crossed my radar before, but not in any major way, but he’s crossed the line now.  He is playing games to attempt to keep President Joe Biden off the ballot in Ohio in November!  Now, Ohio is sometimes referred to as a ‘red state’, meaning the majority of voters here are Republicans,…

Iran has launched missiles at Israel in retaliation against Israel’s bombing of their embassy. Let me be clear, first and foremost, that I do not think Israel left them many other options. I believe Israel did this to encourage the US to send them more money. I understand why this has happened.
That being said, we cannot now turn towards praise of the Iranian government. First and foremost, it is still the same government that allows “morality police” to kill women for what they wear. It is not a government that acts in the interests of the freedom of their people.
We also cannot forget that in war it always the rich who make the decisions, and the poor who suffer the consequences. As the threat of regional and perhaps even global warfare grows closer, we must remember that war is an evil that does not kill indiscriminately. We cannot get caught up in the notion of Israel reaping what it has sown. We must remember that those truly in power in Israel will not suffer- only the poor, the marginalized, the powerless. We cannot, even for a second, allow ourselves to imagine allies in those that would lead us towards this.
