“Spoiled by their accessibility” has rattled me so bad, I go to games regularly and I’m well aware it’s a very privileged position- I’m lucky enough to be able to afford the extortionate tickets, to not have to work on matchdays, to have friends to go with- I don’t see supporting a club that’s in my city as a privilege. The majority of match going fans are from the local area, that’s not because they’re luckier than anyone else, or because everyone wants to go and they’re the only ones that get to, it’s because being from there comes with ties to the club. I chose my club as an adult, it’s a London club bc I was born and raised and lived my whole life in London and that means something to me. The American who posted this tweet was free to do the same.

I'm making a full comprehensive list of a bunch of imagery/symbolism/motifs I include in the risen lamb and the fallen god so if I hypothetically got a tattoo related to it I have a whole bunch of ideas to go off of

@english-soda commented:
Your argument is simply “the US must do whatever it can to win”. Why? What makes the US so special? There is no argument for national sovereignty to be made - the US has interfered in more elections, caused more coups and installed more dictators, and invaded more countries than any other currently existing state. There is no moral argument to be made here - the US is committing a genocide as we speak and in the last 70 years has killed more people via itself and its aforementioned puppet states than any other state. The only way “the US must win at any cost” is a viable argument is if you do not care about anything other than national power and global hegemony. In which case you are no better than Russia, or any of the European empires of the early modern period
On this post: https://www.tumblr.com/fixerbot/766240497948852224/understanding-government-and-international
My response:
To be clear: My argument was “the Israeli-Palestinian war is not a valid reason for voting in favour of a Trump over Harris”.
But in response to “the U.S. must do whatever it can to win” and “the U.S. must win at all costs” I would first attempt to clarify those statements:
1: For myself I prefer “the U.S. and its allies…”
2: understanding that war existed long before America was even founded (since the dawn of man?) and that people and countries and governments WILL go to war even without America’s influence, I would also want to clarify further “the U.S. and its allies have been at war throughout their history…”
3: understanding how “whatever it takes” or “at all costs” would create a moral and ethical dilemma for anyone who isn’t a sociopath, I always find it important here to highlight three things and clarify further with —
(i) every life lost in a war on any side matters and in the end the most ethical path is to have as few casualties for the allies as possible WITHOUT trying to avoid war since, as highlighted above, war has so far been inevitable and this is the “fault” of no one country;
(ii) understanding that there is no moral high ground in war if you are not making these sacrifices to ultimately achieve victory for your causes and the causes of the allies because otherwise we might as well have let the enemy (who exists and has existed in every war since before America) exert whatever will or reality they have sought/seek to exert and…
(iii) “win” is probably a gross oversimplification but consider that the outcome of these wars MUST matter and that different weights are given to different outcomes but in the end since war has always been, and if we must be always actively positioning ourselves (and allies) in a war it must be in order to gain advantage in, at the very least, not having the enemy advance because we recognise that what we are fighting against is the desired outcome of these enemy (for myself Nazism, Facism, religious states, etc.)…
The above also leads to the clarification of “win” since this isn’t some simple sport or game, but ultimately my argument would be:
“The U.S. and its allies (the allies) have been at war with the enemy throughout their history and must seek to gain and secure advantage in the ongoing war against the outcomes that the allies deem to be UNACCEPTABLE and must act with the understanding that the sacrifices of the allies will not be in vain and with the aim to mitigate losses (especially for the allies) since each loss the allies suffer is also an advantage for the enemy and to suffer these losses in order to “avoid” a war is inherently not pragmatic and is a morally/ethically inferior position to take compared to prioritising the losses of the allies…”
I think this is the argument I would make and this would, of course, be part of a bigger, more complex dialogue, which I am happy to continue. I would need some clarification on what your arguments are (@english-soda) preferably while avoiding the pitfalls of trying to oversimplify what is inherently complex.

Dystopian cyberpunk world, but the currency is called "tokens" because some billionaire really really liked Chuck E. Cheese's, bought it, then used all his "fuck you" money to make Chuck E. Cheese tokens the national currency.
