Not sure if any of you have heard of ‘Rushing Woman’s Syndrome’? It’s a term used to describe the cascade of hormonal changes that happen when we get stressed for long periods of time. Dr Libby Weaver is the author of this book and explains the impact the never ending ‘to do’ list has on your health.
I totally agree with this, as a single Mother of three amazing children, a 15 year old 12 year old and 10 year old, all heavily involved in basketball which involves a lot of travelling to and from the city because we live in the country. Add to this school runs, running my life coaching and wellbeing business, house duties, family duties, trying to have a social life.…..STOP!!!! Do I need to go on? I know you get it and most probably are going through the same thing.
What really concerns me is what is also happening to our kids…. they are also so busy and following in the footsteps of a “busy lifestyle”. With school going back and now in week four I have seen and heard so many kids and teens saying how tired and exhausted they are. (Oh, and I’m not dismissing us Mum’s here, we are feeling it too!!)
When diet, stress levels, sporting and life commitments seem to take over, emotions are strong and our life becomes out of balance and out of alignment. It can manifest into so many things.
Research from the Mayo Clinic in the US has found: Long term activation of the stress-response system and the subsequent exposure to cortisol and other stress hormones – can disrupt almost all your body’s processes. This puts you at risk of numerous health problems, including: anxiety, depression, digestive problems, heart disease, sleep problems, weight gain, memory and concentration impairment.”
Our kids and youth are feeling it too.  When they stay in the fight or flight zone for too long the same effects are happening to them. There is so much depression and anxiety in our youth and this is why I am so passionate in helping and educating them about the impact stress plays in their lives. I want to give them tools and empower them to be the best version of themselves in this busy world we live in.
My message today is to take care of yourself, take some time out and do something you love for no other reason except you are worth the time to fill your cup to keep being the amazing person that you. Be patient with your kids because they are feeling it too. Love, compassion, communication and kindness goes a long way.

Hair is a mess, sweating up a storm and swearing out loud. It was that kind of a training day!! I’m sure my ladies in class would agree. If looks could kill, I wouldn’t be posting this right now. 😜 - - First, I had to get in my own training from @street_parking My fatty coffee almost came up. In this video I was performing my last set and I was feeling those squats and burpees power cleans 😫It was intense so I tried staying or slightly increase my reps each round. Afterwards, I completed my #challengeforthemonth which are sumo squat pulses. I decided to make it a little challenging for myself and performed them on a bosu. What a game changer!!! Core, stability and legs were on fire. Worth giving them a shot. Decided today I wasn’t going to do double whammies. That is short for two workouts a day. I’m stepping down my training and giving myself a test and a challenge to train 3-4x a week only. I want to see how well I can do with strength, body composition and eliminating stress into my system. I will go live on Thursday at 12 noon to discuss the new challenges I am making this month and my results on trying the carnivore challenge for 4 weeks. Yes, that right “carnivore”. This WOD was felt all over!! Core was on fire, legs were burning and calves were tingling with agony. Nice and sweet for a spicy training. There is are different progressions to exercising. Both these ladies are working their triceps. Both working on increasing strength. Using the bars from the floor with knees bent is great for beginners to intermediate athletes or using the rings with a resistance band can be used for beginners to intermediate athletes also. Which would you prefer??
