kevin day is like. he's a child star. he's experienced an incomprehensible amount of labor abuse and inhumane working conditions. he was taken from his home country by a close relative with bad intentions. he's a cult baby. he grew up in captivity underground. every bad thing that could happen to a human being has happened to him at some point. he is happier than most of us when he can kick a ball for a living.

[Gakuen K] Fushimi Saruhiko Route Translation
Breakdown of cooling function
Tumblr media
LIST OF CHAPTERS
[Translation under the cut]
Tumblr media
Kukuri: Good morning~! Oh, it's hot again today. I am worried about what it's going to be in the future.
Saya: That's right…It's going to get a lot hotter.
Saya: But it's cooler inside the school, and I'm very thankful for that… Kukuri: That's one of the best things about our school. Also I've never heard of any breakdowns. I think they inspect it frequently.
Kukuri: …Ah, I don't have time to relax! I'm on day duty today, so I'll go first!
Saya: Uhm! See you in class!
Saya: (It's hot, I should hurry a bit too)
Tumblr media
Claudia: Okay, I'm going to end today's homeroom. It's very hot today, so please be careful not to get heat stroke.
Saya: (Well, now that class is over, let's go to the club room)
Kukuri: So, it's club activities now? Would you like to join me on the way?
Saya: Uhm, let's go together!
Kukuri: Ice cream~! Nice! Maybe I'll get some too…Or maybe we can make it in the club activities!
Saya: Kukuri-chan is in the cooking club, right?
Kukuri: I'll try to talk it over with the President of the club. If I can find a recipe that looks easy to make, we can make it together at the dorm next time!
Saya: Uhm! I'm looking forward to it.
Tumblr media
Saya: Sorry for the intrusion.
Saya: …!!!!!
Saya: (I-It's very hot here…!!)
Fushimi: Oi! Don't block the way.
Saya: Fushimi-kun…
Fushimi: …Ugh! This is more than I expected…
Saya: Fushimi-kun, you said this school is fully air-conditioned, right…?
Fushimi: President informed me that the air cooling function in the department room has broken down. He said it won't be fixed until tomorrow.
Saya: Is that so…Are we going to do club activities today…?
Fushimi: We will. We've been asked to compile these documents by the end of the day.
Saya: I see…
Saya: (It can't be helped, let's get ready)
Fushimi: Leave the door open for now. To let some wind in from the hallway.
Saya: Understood.
Tumblr media
Fushimi: Tsk…Why do we even have a club activity in this heat…
Saya: (Fushimi-kun is very irritated…Ah,yes)
Saya: I think I'll go get some ice cream. It'll be a little cooler.
Fushimi: You haven't finished compiling the documents.
Saya: I thought our brains would work more efficiently if we ate ice cream and cooled them down…
Fushimi: Better get it over with and go home. Besides, it'll melt in this room in no time. What if the papers get dirty?
Saya: …Are you saying it's not hot for you, Fishimi-kun?
Fushimi: Of course it's hot.
Saya: You don't look too hot.
Fushimi: It's getting hotter and hotter because you keep talking about how hot it is. Just keep silent and do your work.
Saya: Fushimi-kun, you just said it three times yourself.
Fushimi: …
Saya: But it's really hot, so I can't help but talk about it.
Fushimi: …
Saya: …
Saya: Maybe it's hotter in the clubroom than outside. I think we should do it outside.
Fushimi: …
Saya: Fushimi-kun?
Fushimi: Ha?
Saya: It's still hot, so I'm going to get some ice cream…
Fushimi: Noisy. How many times do you have to say 'it's hot, it's hot' to be satisfied?
Fushimi: If you say it's hot again, I'll have you do all the rest of the tally with the clubroom door closed.
Saya: U-Understood. Won't say it again.
Munakata: …Thank you both for your hard work in this heat.
Saya: Munakata-senpai.
Munakata: How is the work progressing?
Saya: Ah, sorry. We haven't finished everything yet.
Fushimi: This is what happens when you waste your time talking nonsense.
Munakata: But this room is hot. When it is this hot, you can't get into your job.
Munakata: Well, but we can't just keep saying 'It's hot, it's hot'. I know it's hard work in the heat…
Saya: (Munakata-senpai…He's using the word “hot” so much…I wonder if he heard what I said earlier)
Fushimi: Tsk…
Saya: (Fushimi-kun is in a very bad mood…!)
Fushimi: President. What happened to the other members of the Blue club? None of them are coming.
Munakata: Oh, about that. Everyone else is resting today due to heat stroke or summer colds.
Fushimi: …Ha?
Saya: Eh…
Munakata: They were attending classes, but it's because of this heat. It's no wonder they are not feeling well.
Munakata: On the contrary, it's probably a good thing they're having the day off, because the air conditioning just happened to be broken down.
Saya: (Could it be that…Everyone knew about the heat and took a day off…)
Munakata: I'm sorry for both of you, but please work hard to make up for everyone else's loss.
Munakata: Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some work to do in the Student Council Office.
Saya: Okay…T-Thank you for your hard work.
Saya: (I think Fushimi-kun is giving off the most displeased aura ever)
Fushimi: …
Saya: If we stay here, we're going to feel unwell too…
Saya: A-All right! Let's hurry up and finish the tally!

Humans were never meant to spend 8+ hours sitting in front of a blue screen. Not spiritually depraved alone. If you look around an office you’ll see the bodily horror. Folk fusing to their seats. You see it in the eyes. And it’s well documented this takes years off a life. Yet the only way out is to claim a kind of disability. That if you are unable to do this you must be disabled. That being the case, in these United States, we are all disabled.
When we can’t work inhumane conditions and hours our society deems us disabled

Getting a company wide email being told that emergency call offs “will not be tolerated”. Like people don’t get sick, have people/animals close to them fall ill or die, get into a car accident, have plumbing problems, etc…. I could go on. When you give your workers PTO for emergency/sick, not only should you let them take that time off but also expect it. People have emergencies and it’s inhumane to force them to prioritize work. As someone in the mental health field, I am fucking appalled at the working conditions we have to put up with.

Animation unions are calling for a Laika boycott due to unsafe working conditions and sleazy hiring practices (like firing full time crew just to rehire as temps for less pay and benefits), apparently they also take the Amazon approach of treating workers like inhuman machines.

please dispel the notion that chinese manufacturing is "cheap" (or that cheap + foreign = exploitative) thats literally "racist dogwhistle" 101
When you actually take the time to LEARN about manufactoring and especially to COMBAT exploitation in the buisness most companies use chinese labor because its both cheap AND more humane, seeing how most US products are made with PRISON SLAVERY making LESS than .05 cents an hour. Versus "minimum wage" (its not really a concept there, and varies from place to place.) is comfortable and more humane. Thats not even talking about the exchange rate of USD to chinese Yuan (which is WHY its so cheap! Have you ever seen them talk about the expense of something and realize the USD can go SO MUCH further over there)
USAmerican convention artists handwringing about their businesses getting hurt because of how heavily they rely on imports from China and other foreign manufacturers I'm going to be super real with you i do not think your blorbo-based-economy was worth exploiting cheap labor for in the first place

every so often im struck by the memory of one of my college professors getting very angry with our class (art history of pompeii 250) because when she excitedly detailed the ingenious roman invention of heated floors in bathhouses via hearths in small crawlspaces, we asked who was tending the fires. she said "oh, slaves i suppose. but that isnt the point". and we said that it actually very much was the point. she had just told us that in roman society there were dozens of people, maybe hundreds, who spent every day of their enslaved lives crawling in cramped, hot, smoky tunnels to light fires to warm pools of water (which they were not allowed to swim in). how could that not be the point?
she wanted us to focus on the art, on the innovation of heated plumbing, on the tiles and decorations of the bathhouses, and all we wanted to do was learn more about the people under the floors. and she didn't know anything more about that. in fact, she said she thought we were focusing too much on superfluous details.
it feels almost hokey to put too fine a point on the idea im getting at here but i will anyway: There are a lot of people who are still under the floors. all these beautiful, convenient, brilliant innovations of modern society (think fast fashion, chatgpt, uber, doordash) are still powered by people working in inhumane, untenable conditions.
the people who run these systems want you to focus on the good - who doesnt love warm water? - but if anything is going to improve or change in our lifetimes, you need to examine these things with an attentive, critical, and empathetic eye. and for fucks sake stop ordering from amazon

what's going on in the congo since there's also a genocide happening over there as well:
to sum it up, people in the congo are literally being worked as slaves to mine for this material called coltan, which is very valuable as its used for things like phones, laptops, just electronics in general. Congo is the number 1 producer for this material and the places behind this genocide is America, Britain, France, and Israel, wow what an absolute shocker. The worst places probably to ever exist benefit from a genocide. These places are funding Rwanda and Uganda military groups, to go into the Congo and kill MILLIONS of people. This has also been going on for YEARS. Many women have been SA'd and men are forced to work in INHUMAN conditions, resulting in their death and the colonizers are absolutely benefitting from this. 6 MILLION people have been killed and half of them are literally kids. Many of the Congolese people have also been displaced.
Please speak out about and raise your voice

Attention please !!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello, my name is Noha, a mother of 4 children in Gaza. We now live in inhumane conditions, lacking all the necessities of life. We have lost our home and our loved ones. We have been forced to move more than 9 times so far and we are now subject to an evacuation order. My children and I were forced to live in this. The infected place, in tents that do not protect us from anything, neither the cold of winter nor the heat of summer. We have been here for months, among the filth and sewage. My children are sick and suffer from wasting, hepatitis, and many other complications, skin and respiratory diseases. We cannot obtain food or medicine. There is no water for cleaning or bathing. There is no place to shower, we literally live in filth!! Diseases and epidemics, what is our fault in all of this? Do we have to face all this to survive death? To die slowly every day? From hunger, thirst, illness, fatigue, or even from depression and fear! My children long for their warm bed and our beautiful home, but now they have turned to ashes, missing their schools, their friends, and their most basic rights as children! They miss their forgotten childhood among tents and water lines, searching for food or killing harmful insects that attack them throughout the day!
I created this link to try to survive and save my children from this nightmare, so that we can begin to recover and regain our dreams. Your help is our only hope!
Your little means a lot to us, don't hesitate! Your help could save the life of an entire family elsewhere

Hello...My name is Mohammad Dawood, I’m 18 years old, and I’m from Gaza.
Tumblr media
Like every family here, mine lived a simple life full of daily challenges, but we always found a way to livece. That was until the recent war, which left us with nothing but painful memories.
Tumblr media
During those dark days, we lived in constant fear. Every night, we would hear the sounds of bombs getting closer, and the drone of planes overhead never ceased. We huddled together in a small corner of our old house, praying to survive. My younger siblings' eyes were filled with tears and terror. One night, the worst happened. A sudden missile strike tore through our home and shattered our dreams. Thankfully, every member of my family survived, but we lost everything we owned.
My father, Nabeel, who worked tirelessly to provide for us, lost his workshop in the bombing. I also lost my small job, which helped support our large family. All the savings we had quickly ran out, and we found ourselves homeless.
We were relocated to an unfinished school in Gaza. This school is not fit for human habitation. There is no roof to protect us from the rain or the heat, no clean water to drink, and we live in inhumane conditions. The children can't attend school because theirs was destroyed, and even the simplest things, like a peaceful night’s sleep, have become a luxury we can no longer afford.
My brother Youssef, who is 12, cannot sleep at night because of the sounds of explosions that still haunt him. My little sister Hala, who is only 6, asks me every day, “When are we going back to our home?” and I have no answer for her. My youngest brother Mahmoud, who is 3, no longer knows what it means to play or laugh. The war has robbed them of their childhood and taken everything from us.
Tumblr media
My mother Suha tries to remain strong, but we all know how exhausted she is. Every day we wake up to the same nightmare, not knowing when this suffering will end. We live without security, without a clear future. Life here is filled with fear and uncertainty.
We are now in desperate need of help. We need to build a new home, to provide a safe haven for my siblings and my family, to have a chance to live with dignity. Your support can restore the hope we lost and give us a new chance at life.
Your donation, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in our lives. Help us overcome this hardship and build a better future..
