Penelope: AH! Why are you naked?! Ody: ...foot races are always done naked.
Penelope stares, before rushing out the door. Ajax and Antilochus walk in
Antilochus: We just saw penelope, she was hiding her face... Ody, sadly: Guys... I have a good dick right?! Antilochus:... Ajax:... Antilochus/Ajax: I'm not answering that/Of course, dude.

My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.
What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"
"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.

to all my afab friends who suffer from periods but don't want to give period trackers your information because of the abortion ban.
Go to the app store, clear up a LOT of space on your phone and this is important install Love and Deep space.
"it's an otome game?"
yes but it has a period tracker feature now.
"but the Chinese-"
Listen to me, who would be worse with that information? The Chinese government or the American government?

like parents are already overworked with their multiple jobs, they're probably not going to want to help with homework because that requires brain power. I see then why they'd prefer to sit their children in front of a game system/tv but there is no real "edutainment" on streaming like there was on cable. There's no edutainment games like the early 2010s. There's really NOTHING educationally dense that children can watch that isn't more for "babies" than children.
I definitely DON'T want to say that children are stupider because I have seen kindergarteners read really well! I worked with multiple age groups but there's this lull in "wanting to learn" where the younger you are the more you want to learn and reading is a great way to see your progress but when you hit around 3rd-4th grade level you don't want to read anymore and you stop caring about learning and that's how you get 8th graders unable to read more than a few lines.
it's also that parents refuse to work with children outside of school. I've seen people not know that children should already know their abc's by the time they're three. Other generations were very attentive in getting their children "school ready" but I see this generation think of school as "childcare lite". And obviously I think that's because of capitalism.

i WOULD be inclined to agree if I wasn't ever a teacher and 8th graders couldn't read 1st grade level books. It was one thing for them to not want to read and just talk, it was another to hear them having to sound out each word
Yeah I’m having trouble buying into this narrative that Todays Youth have a unique problem with reading literature or writing essays considering that it fits more into a reoccurring pattern of “people getting older start regurgitating cliches about lazy stupid youth” which historically speaking is more of a thing than “all of a sudden a whole generation became very stupid and refused to engage in intellectual activities” which is not so much a thing that actually happens
