What's in a Name: Fake Name Edition

I thought it'd be be fun to cover the silly pseudonyms that the characters have used in the show.

Bonzu Pippinpaddleopsicopolis - Buddhist Monk (房主) in Medieval Japanese... Pippinpaddleopsicopolis. Very subtle, Aang. ;)

Hua Mei - Beautiful flower (花美) in Mandarin Chinese. The name becomes hilarious when you consider that Katara chose the word Dung for Toph's pseudonym right afterwards.

Wang Fire - Literally the most common surname in China (王)... Fire.

Lee - Literally the second most common surname in China (李).

Mushi - Bug in Japanese (虫). Poor Iroh.

All in all, Katara and Zuko are both terrible at naming people on the spot.

God, I just realized. Marquis Machina identifies the Dhams under their protection by Marking them. That implies she has to drink their blood in order to do so, even if only a little bit the one time.

Also, everything about Machina's current appearance, the framing of her first two scenes, and Teacher's comments on her being an "observer" suggest that Machina is an Archiviste. Almost nobody knows this about her.

Unless it turns out she's not a real Archiviste somehow, that means she's looked at the memories of every single Dham she's Marked. And none of them have any idea she can do that.

hey bunjy, that post about temu has been debunked a long time ago. while there are some shady aspects to what temu is doing, they function exactly like other currently "trusted" discount ecommerce things like shein aliexpress wish etc. they're not actually an MLM and they don't have access to everything on your phone. there's an whole article on snopes about temu if you want to look into it.

and if you want to talk about what's trustworthy or not, both USA Today and Komando dot com have bad reps for whether or not the information they provide is true. always do your OWN research.

ah yeah you're correct, my own research shows the closest match as them being described "ALMOST a pyramid scheme", not a pyramid scheme proper.

There's a kid in the preschool room at work who's like, super hyperactive and very vocal about his interests. When it's nap time he absolutely won't sit still and usually distracts the other kids. So today I just said fuck it, since nobody else will entertain this kid I will. Pulled out my phone and started googling his emerging interests for him.

To make a long story short I felt genuine terror when little guy asked to see "two Sonics together" because I thought the image results would end up showing this four year old Sonic The Hedgehog selfcest (none thankfully)
