October 2, 2024 - Over 1,000 Samsung workers in Chennai, India, have been on strike for four weeks, making it India’s biggest strike in recent years. The protests have disrupted production at the factory, which employs 1800 people and contributed a fifth of Samsung’s $12 billion revenue in India last year.

The striking workers are demanding recognition of their union, CITU, and a wage increase. The average salary for the Samsung workers is currently about $300 a month. [video]

In 2019, a strange little pink house appeared right on the top of the historical plant of the Canada Malting Silos, built in 1905 and abandoned in 1986. The unknown authors brought the material to an height of about 35 meters to build this absolutely unique thing and added later other pieces to their creation, like a Christmas three, a gift and other decorations. 

I think I have never seen anything like this in hundreds of explorations in abandoned places!

December 7, 2023 - Hundreds of UK union workers blockaded companies who sell weapons or parts for fighter jets that Israel uses for its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people. Four factories were blockaded in Bournemouth, Lancashire, Brighton and Glasgow. Palestinian unions have asked for union workers across the world to use their power to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. Dock workers have recenty heeded this call for solidarity by blocking Israeli weapons shipments in several countries, inculding South Africa, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, and Italy. [video]

Oh, I love this townhouse in a converted 1820 factory in Baltimore, MD. It has 2bds, 2ba, $659K + $24mo. HOA.

I love the foyer.

What a lovely room. I love the fireplace and stairs.

This is lovely. I think that the architect did a good job of preserving some of the original wall while incorporating a fireplace.

Love the doors, too. I don't know what this unit is staged as, but I would think that the first room is a sitting room and this one would be a formal dining room.

The kitchen is very large and very cool. I love the retro look.

I've never seen curved cabinet doors. This is cool.

The windows let in so much light.

But they have nice gray shades. Perfect for evening, too.

The windows really make this end unit fill with natural light.

Beautiful wall and fireplace. This room is in the middle of 2 other rooms.

There's this family room on one side.

And, this sitting room on the other. It looks like the sofa and end table are built into the railing that hangs over the floor.

Bath #1 is a shower room with colorful tile on the floor and shower.

Bedroom #1 has a lovely feature- the exposed brick wall for the fireplace is white and for contrast, the side walls are natural.

Love the railings. The entire 3rd level is the primary suite.

This is gorgeous. You can see the original factory wall and chimney behind the closets.

Wow, look at that floating cabinet. This is the amazing primary bath. Love the lines of bricks cutting thru.

The tile is very industrial looking, and ties in beautifully with the factory theme.

For a townhouse, this yard is huge and it's very private. In the back there's a gate.

Walk out to an original cobblestone road.

And, it leads to the historic Wheel Park.
