Indigo is closing a beloved Chapters bookstore in Scarborough in a move that has employees and regulars alike accusing them of union busting. The Chapters at Kennedy Commons is not only the largest bookstore in Scarborough and one of the best Indigo locations in the city, it's one of three unionized Chapters locations in Toronto. According to Indigo (which owns Chapters), the decision to shutter the business was merely a fiscal one. In a statement to CBC Toronto, they suggested that the location's profitability wasn't up to par. But employees of the location, as well as some locals, aren't buying it. For some, the company's decision to close this specific location doesn't add up, leading to accusations of union busting from the store's employees and supporters.

BOTD: Indigo Bunting
Tumblr media
Photo: Kelly Colgan Azar
"In parts of the East, Indigo Bunting may be the most abundant songbird, with the deep-blue males singing along every roadside. The plain brown females are seen far less often, and they have good reason to be inconspicuous: they do almost all the work of caring for the eggs and young, hidden away in dense thickets. This species favors brushy edges rather than unbroken forest, and is probably far more common today than when the Pilgrims landed."

Indigo Chapters Lists Tamagotchi On & Tamagotchi On Wonder Garden
Tumblr media
What year is it? Indigo Chapters, a big box bookstore in Canada has just listed both the pink Tamagotchi On Fairy, and turquoise Tamagotchi On Wonder Garden on their website. Both are out of stock but there are reports that one lucky Tamagotchi fan from Reddit was able to get their hands on the Wonder Garden, how awesome is that? Perhaps they found old inventory? If you’re in Canada, be sure to check their website often! They’ve both listed for their original MSRP of $79.95 CAD.

Y'know, sometimes I really hate reading in Canada.
The moment you want to read an ACTUAL BOOK, it's a fuck shit ton of money!
Got 4 books at my local book shop, even with Trudeau's tax break thing, I spent $102.00 (I rounded up to the nearest dollar because I didn't want cents on my gift card) giving me a gift card balance of $23.00.
I hate Canada sometimes

what’s your favorite thing to write about? :0
i love love love writing characters who, for one reason or another, are WILDLY out of their depth (yxy in r&r/[REDACTED] wip getting sent ~300 years further into the past than intended, bai hua who just has no idea about genre conventions, what the original plot was, etc, while Also being 1000+ years in the past), and also women ^^ all of my novels are from the pov of women* (and all of them are lesbians as well! most of the women in my novels are lesbians or unlabelled but not interested in men, unless explicitly stated otherwise). oh and time travel i guess, since that features in 2/3 of my novels, can’t believe i forgot about that

I got so excited I tried to order the Suddence paperback, but it won't ship to Ontario! What should I do? D:
AHHHG i knew canadian shipping might be a problem 😫 which vendor are you ordering from?
i'm in the process of trying to get it onto Indigo. i sent an email to them today, and i probably won't get a response until monday at the earliest.
sorry that the response to this is to wait 😓 the only other alternative i can think of is to contact your local indie bookstore(s) and see if they can order it for you. i've gotten a few hard-to-find books this way!

Liberal MP supports prosecuting protestors.
Tumblr media
Liberal MP Anthony Housefather retweeted this post saying that protesting Indigo's complicity in genocide is "a crime", and that "it should be prosecuted under the law". This is a member of the government calling for peaceful protest against genocide to be illegal.

The World Needs More Canada
From the Indigo Bookstore at Eaton Centre in Toronto. The world needs more Canada! I am supporting this wholly great sovereign nation against those from my country, the United States, who want to do harm to it.

Aaah one of my local stores finally has TTPD available for preorder! It's finally happening!
unfortunately it's far more expensive than Taylor's store so I'm sticking with my original order but if they get any of the variants...
