A Thought I Had. An Idea, Even.

I was thinking about Good Omens, as one does, and I realized that the handful of scenes in which Aziraphale and Crowley raise the Antichrist could be its own show. I am not saying it should have been expanded upon in the book or the TV series, I’m not even saying there should be a spin off about raising Warlock. All I am saying is, this would be a great concept for a show. Imagine, an entire comedy show about an angel and a demon raising the Antichrist.

Questions Good Omens season 2 has triggered in my brain:

What if I wrote / drew / created more?

How do I feel about my own gender and how I present it?

Do I keep crushing on fictional characters to avoid being hurt again in real life?

To continue on that, do I sometimes keep people I like at arm’s length for the same reason?

So, you know. I’m totally normal about Good Omens. Tickety-boo. Mind how you go!

Yeah I like queer characters.

I like messy, raw, scraped bloody queer characters. I like it when they don't learn their lessons, when they become worse, where they don't have a positive character arc.

But even more than that, I want fucked up characters who just HAPPEN to be queer. No soft realizations of queerness here. Those stories have their place but they aren't for me. I came into this world bloody and screaming and I want to read about people like me.

I like it when they are vindictive, when they are abrasive, when they hurt people they love and don't know how to say sorry. I want them to be brutal and nasty and to keep me up at night. I like it when they can make mistakes and have to pay for them.

I like seeing the worst pieces of myself in fictional characters, who are telling the story, who were lovingly crafted by a writer. Someone who was brave enough to say "I don't want to make a good guy."

So yeah, I like queer characters, but I want to feel them eating my heart out as I read or watch their stories.

I hope this shines through in my work as well.

Hey my publisher finally got my book series, The Silent Trilogy, up on Apple Books! Check it out!!!

My publisher calls Silent Trilogy 'X-Men meets Good Omens'. That's not wrong but it is a series about abuse, colonialism and the importance of love in ways those aren't.

In more detail: the Silent Trilogy is an urban fantasy series set primarily in Hobart, Australia. It tells the story of the dainisa, a not-so-hidden magical community, focused primarily on their non-binary Princess, Torao Yamaguchi.

Desperate for her child to have a better life than she did, the leader of dainisa Amaya Yamaguchi sparks a revolution to claim Australia as a magical continent where dainisa can live in accordance with their own laws, not those of humans. However fighting power is a complex thing in a world built to function on injustice, and a pretty siren desperate for revenge could ruin it all…

Narrated through the eyes of a human who doesn’t quite get it, the Silent Trilogy is about the narratives we build of history. It's an exploration of trauma, the ways people learn to live with it, and how bigotry works. Also there's angels and demons messing things up. More info on the website!

I finished this series a long time ago but I'm still very proud of it!! It's a niche story I had a lot of fun with. I wrote this NB protag before I even came out myself so that's always cool. And every time I have to reread a part of the series I have a really hard time stopping cos I enjoy my own work so much lmao. So hopefully you'll enjoy it too!!
