absolute travesty that there are NO royalty-au spirk fics centered around the overwhelming amounts of devotion and loyalty between the two. WHERE are my fics with Spock on his knees pledging fealty to King James Kirk????

they're all about princes falling in love and arraigned marriages and political intrigue and YES that's GREAT and i do love them, but what if i want kings???

I need a fic about the bond between a king and his loyal advisor-slash-nobleman which has been slowly developing for DECADES before anyone involved gets their shit together, or a fic where Spock has practically taken on the role of King Consort before either of them notice simply because Kirk trusts him so much, or a fic where it slowly becomes apparent that King Kirk's loyalty is first to his kingdom, yes, but second to Spock alone, and he will go to war for him.

I need crazy stupid devotion, that's what I need!!!!

i honestly couldn't think of any because this fandom has made me so open minded there's not really a fanon element that rubs me the wrong way, HOWEVER i'm going to say the demonization of william shatner counts. i hate every time i see a tag under one of my posts like "fuck william shatner but captain kirk is hot" or whatever. he's a really complex person and i feel like people rarely take the time to fully understand him. i get why they're turned off, i have problems with things he's said and the way he acts sometimes, but the man has been alive for almost a hundred years. there's more to him than the same problematic anecdotes that get shared again and again. SO much more. i really resonate with his story and his inability to relate to people (a weakness he recognizes btw). the cruel and toxic attitude toward him is just really sad to me :(

Behind the counter was a window, through which he could see two cooks at a grill top larger than his desk on the Enterprise. There was a chip scanner near the door and a blue wall covered with taped-up posters for community events, businesses, and personal advertisements. Through the glass windows he could see the streetlights lining the sidewalks, and the reflection of him and Jim side-by-side. He could see that at some point in the scuffle with the lizard, Jim’s carefully-tamed cowlick had gone wild again. It would not be logical to reach out to smooth it down, so he folded his hands in his lap and looked down at the menu before him.

So thrilled to be able to reveal my full first artwork for the 2024 Reverse @thylabang! It was such a joy to collaborate with the incredible and talented @indeedcaptain, who wrote the accompanying work to go with it. Her brilliant fic is titled How to Win Plants and Influence Lizards. It's filled to the brim with humor and pining and so, so much love, and I know you'll adore every word of it!
