I just wanted to say a big thanks to all the writers, artists, and literally everyone out there. You have helped me through tough times, when I needed a break to be able to read and see the things you make brings me much joy. Lot’s of you do it for free, even if you need money, and sometimes because you think you owe readers a story (which you do NOT!!).

You are all amazing hard workers and deserve to know that your work is being appreciated and loved. Sometimes there will be people who hate or use your work, but please know that their are people out there who love what you create.

So thank you again!!!!!

also i have not met many celebrities or anyone famous or anything so my perception may be skewed here but gabe is literally the coolest nicest down to earth etc celebrity i’ve ever met. every other time i’ve met a musician i like i’ve been so nervous and starstruck about it but but talking to him felt so casual ? it was really awesome. as soon as midtown finished playing (which was at like 11:45pm-12am) he literally hopped off stage and into the crowd and was talking to people and taking pictures with everyone but there were so many people that my friend and i decided to wait outside the venue and hopefully catch him then and we ended up waiting outside with two other people who were telling us about how they followed cobra on the whole really really ridiculously good looking tour in 2008 and a venue worker who made us keurig hot cocoa <3 at some point heath comes outside and we talk to him and get some stuff signed and everything and then around 1am gabe comes outside but doesn’t notice us because we’re a ways away from the door as to not ambush anyone who’s coming or going and he walks in the other direction as all four of us are like “is that gabe? is that him? no that has to be him. who else is that tall?” eventually he notices us and comes over and is like “have you guys been waiting out here the whole time? you didn’t have to wait out here!” and we’re all like dude there were so many people waiting to talk to you in there. and my friend says they had to go to their car to grab a cd they wanted the band to sign anyway. and he’s like yah that makes sense then. and he asks us if we all had a good time and what our names are and where we’re all from and everything and i told him that this is my hometown and he knew a lot about the place for someone who’s not from here. like when i was in the merch line i was behind two guys who didn’t even know how to pronounce the name of the city 😭 and i ask him to sign the record i bought and he made sure he knew how to spell my name which i thought was really funny bc how are you going to misspell the name max !! and then we all got a picture with him but genuinely he is so sweet and chill and i am so so glad i stood out in the massachusetts december weather in the middle of the night for this <3 love that guy

do you ever see a person and you are overcome with incredible fondness? and you just think "oh." but not in a romantic or sexual way you are just filled with warmth and it makes you happy, it just does. and you think "i'm so happy you exist. i'm happy you are somewhere out there in the world, doing your thing". it's love but also not entirely

Incredibly alarming that talks of “peace” in Gaza seem to extend no further than a ceasefire. How do you think they’re gonna start off where they left off themselves? Their houses are destroyed, so many have lost mothers and fathers and brothers and children, they still have no clean water and no food. Any area Israel withdraws out of is an area it already knows has been rendered inhospitable. There was even a direct quote by some IOF soldier gleefully stating how he “wasn’t sure Palestinians could go back to their homes.” So what happens when the US “succeeds at negotiating a ceasefire”? Who will be responsible for helping the Palestinians rebuild all that they’ve lost?

Elephant in the room time! I’d like to give a summary for everyone here.

I think we have all been waiting for someone to dig up something about Tim Walz, and what they found is a DUI from 1995.

Tim Walz was still a teacher at the time. He was with his friends, watching college football. He chose to drive home, and was pulled over for going 96mph in a 55. He was charged and fined.

Directly afterwards, he tried to resign from his teaching job out of guilt for his actions. He felt terrible, he felt disappointed in himself, and thought he didn’t have the right to teach or be a coach because of it. The principal pushed back immediately, asking him to stay. The principal refused to let him resign.

11 years later he became a member of Congress. 30 years later, he still hasn’t touched alcohol.

His drink of choice is Diet Mountain Dew.

Trump supporters are seemingly oblivious to the hypocrisy of their criticism of Walz. It has been 30 years since Walz was charged with his only misdemeanor. In May of this year, Trump was convicted of 34 felonies.

It's finally dawning on me that a lot of hard leftists actually do think the US presidency is already a dictatorship.

Like they think that the reason the Biden administration didn't cancel college debt on the grand scale they pictured, is that he just didn't want to. They have no comprehension just how much Republicans were working against him to stop literally anything he could do to make things in this country less dogshit. (BTW, this is why we need to vote blue all the way down the ticket.)

And then they think they can elect some third party rando with no actual allies in the senate or congress or anywhere, and people will just have to do what they say, and won't try to sabotage them even harder because they're even further left. (The aforementioned efforts to sabotage Biden? It would be even worse for an actual leftist president.)

Like no, sorry, the US presidency is not actually a dictatorship.

so today at work one of my coworkers hands me a box

I have no context for this. He’s a 50? 60? Year old plumber who tends to walk into the office, tell a dad joke, and leave. I’ve just arrived at work and am still putting my purse away. So he hands me this box and says it comes with instructions. I open it and unfold this

The pattern was clearly typed on a typewriter, several pages of it. I guess this was an apron specifically for having your friends over for tea.

I just happened to be wearing a skirt that kind of goes with it, so I did wear it all day (it’s a @mayakern skirt!) and another friend said I look like I should be living in a shoe. Perhaps as some sort of mouse girl making pastries for the other woodland creatures. But uhhhhh what an incredible heirloom piece to just be handed. It’s probably twice as old as I am. I’m definitely going to bring it to stitch circle this week
