Tamlin Week 2024, Day 4: (a belated) Happily Ever After

We stood atop the hill in silence, until the setting sun gilded the house and the hills and the world and Lucien called us to dinner. ~ A Court of Thorns and Roses, ch. 45

This was inspired by the meadow scene in Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle", hence the Ghibli-esque illustration style I went for here.

Many pro-Tamlin fans prefer to think of ACOTAR as a standalone book, and I am no exception. So my contribution to the "Happily Ever After" theme is them walking off into the sunset at the end of book 1. I hope you like it.

#i know this is incredibly late #it's been a really rough week #i didn't want to complain on main #so i just laid low for a while #but i still wanted to contribute more to the event #so here you go #i debated over whether or not to stick to canon by portraying feyre's tattoo #in the end i decided to keep it #and show tamlin embracing it #i also gave him a scar #any castlevania fans may recognize the alucard influence #but i wanted to highlight the fact that tamlin did get stabbed so that feyre could win the final trial #and it was with an ash dagger #that's gotta leave a mark #so while sjm plays loosey goosey with her magic rules #i used some artistic license to give him a scar #so there #and as you can see #feyre's hand is on his heart #where she can feel it beating #the end #whew #feylin #tamlin #tamlin week #day 4 #my art #my fanart

I have been consuming Zack Lives AUs and would like to offer the headcannon: Zack keeps a habit of taking initiative for transporting Cloud to places even after Cloud wakes up. Usually grabbing and leading Cloud places, but sometimes ends up with Zack full on hoisting Cloud over his shoulder and starts walking.

A Rose and a Nightingale

#og #this one is inspired by zepyuri nman song. there are many iterations of it but the one by ladaniva is my favourite...#go listen to it #the painting is quite simple but 1. i kinda wanted to keep it that way and 2. i'm a lazy artist...i can't spend more than 3 days on art #i may revisit it later. just really wanted to finish it before the year ends lol #oh some more infodumping! in the second verse there are lines:#i'll become Spring and come to your garden / like a nightingale i'll cling to your rose #i thought 'huh. what an interesting metaphor' and went researching #figures! the motive of a nightingale being in love with a rose is a widespread one in classical iranian literature #at that moment i'd decided to go with iranian-armenian adjacent style of clothing. it's all so pretty #i love the veiling. i love the colors. the patterns. the cut and fit of the costume too.#i was mostly referencing 1 black and white drawing so i couldn't see many details unfortunately #it was from 'armenian national costumes' book by Arakel Patrick #p. 85 table 6 pic. 2 and 3 - rug weavers from charmahal region of isfahan #for anyone's interested in looking it up lol #+ some other references #also if i don't use orange and blue color combo at least once a year i will literally die #ok. infodumping is over #q

fic is a safe space, probably one of the last safe spaces. by safe i mean safe from the pressure of caving to advertisers. you can write fic about anything and not worry (shouldn’t worry) about what’s popular or what an advertiser oriented algorithm will pick up. what i mean by this is that you don’t have to bring this advertiser friendly behavior into fic. heroes can make bad decisions, people can fall out of love, villains can win, villainous organizations can win, redemption doesn’t have to happen, etc. make things a little messy if you want to, because life can be messy and art is a reflection of life. not what the advertisers have decided for us life is like, real life. this is one of the last places where this is still possible

#fourfold soul #Nobody #Fitch #While it does go counter to the spirit of the main character having no name no gender...I have decided to reveal-#-my placeholder name for to keep a proper tagging system. This was the reason I ended up reading the odyssey by the way.#I needed a placeholder name for our cowboy exorcist and I went with 'Nobody-haha-like-in-the-odyssey-wait-what'.#Project discussion wise this isn't the name we use when talking about this character. *That's* staying a secret.#This comic idea was actually one of the first things I ever sketched for Nobody.#The rhetoric at that point was to show off to my game dev partner the humour in having No Gender for a protag.#None binary with a side of 'I don't have the capacity to think about that right now.'#There was a 4th panel to go along with this but I cut it for time. I'll post it separately later on.#I had to take some steps back to solidify character designs but now I've got them LOCKED DOWN.#WE ARE BACK. I WILL MAKE OUR BELOVED CHARACTER'S KNOWN. THROUGH SILLY COMICS.
