Ecto-Implosion 2023

Happy to finally show my piece for the @ecto-implosion!

I was playing Hades a lot when I signed up which left me itching to read a crossover between these guys, and this was the result on my end ^.^

My partner for the event was @half-deadmagicperson and she did an amazing job crafting a story with these characters! The story is up on AO3 and you can read it here: How Danny Broke His Favorite Star Projector. It's an incredible feeling to read something inspired by your art, and more so in this case since Magic put everything I asked for and much more in it! 💚

I'm so happy to have decided to join in another DP event, a big shout-out to everyone who also participated and a huge thank you to the mods for hosting!

I wasn't expecting to keep drawing them but my pencil kept moving and they kept showing up on my paper!#Especially Gaster but the other two plenty as well #Got to employ a bit of my favourite coloured pencil �� I Will find a way to use my blue on nearly anything #Luckily for me they come prepackaged with blue magic so that was easy enough #Wiggly baby Papyrus does Not want to go >:( At least he's not being hurt :(#Some smoking Gaster ♪ I still quite enjoy drawing smoke honestly - fun to get to do so with a character who actually smokes haha #You can see I also added swoopy-swoops to his Lost Soul head - I like it much better for being such a small detail #I think it looks weird in black rather than white but against a white background-#Without them he feels....hmm something. Something old that I don't want #Not like the Classic Lost Soul head tho haha - similar but not quite the same!#I love his design ahh ♪ He's really so pretty but so much of that is in his details! Like the way he wears his clothes or holds his body #I'm always a sucker for that style of turtleneck as well haha ♫#Perhaps his turtleneck keeps the smoke in chest from escaping longer :0 Yet another reason to wear them!#Shot of the little family before things went Completely terrible - before the plates and all that #I'm rather pleased with his hand pose there actually :) Keep an eye on your kids Gaster you've only got the one eye to do so!#And then some silly ones lol - I am desperately curious if animated skeletons would have a hyoid bone #It's not as though hyoid bones are specific to humans! They're just A Type Of Bone! Surely skeletons would have All their bones right?#But in the human skeleton it's not resting against another bone it's just floating there tethered by muscle and sinew #Would it float? Would it rest inside the lower jaw? Would it attach to the neck vertebrae??#It'd probably get caught on his turtleneck a lot easier than like - getting it caught on his neck bones for example #They have a kind of fused canine-teeth-like structure as well they're like a weird set of tongue-teeth lol #It's just fun to imagine ♪ Similar to how the rest of the skeletal body like - magnetizes? to itself :)

I woke up feeling like I was crying to sleep when I wasn't??? And my dream was about Mei from Turning Red riding a snow sleigh. Um There's nothing sad about that??? Lol

Anyway, the warm up sketches. The colors were added in Medibang. It was pretty fun, might do that technique some other time. My body still refused to recover from being bummed out throughout the day so I did house chores instead of commissions. 😅 Will try again tomorrow.

#The heat man. No wonder I was dreaming about snow. Lol. But I bet I'll just die the moment I'm put in that much cold environment. Haha #There is already a way I draw Connie's side view angle in the regular style. But I'm hoping to do better.#KatietheSlayer's Connie side angle is so good and I admit I attempted copying how it was drawn to apply on my own style. 😅 But it looked #so weird when I do it. 😬 So maybe it's a sign from the Universe or something. Lol #So I'm now approaching practicing that side view differently.#Ugh. Something about Connie's eyes looked off in that one. 😕 I think I don't like it.#Steven and Connie were suppose to be looking at Lion looking up at them but I didn't draw Lion.#There are perks and cons in sketching traditionally. Like how it feels so much better scratching the paper with the pencils. I believe I #sketch better on paper than digitally. Tried making a colour reference for Sueño and well:

This is why I don’t usually colour- :D

The top of his shirt is meant to be gold fading into yellow but idk if it even came off that way. And I did the best I could to have his hair pattern like this one below: 😭

But sure whatever.

I made the tip of his cape pointed and white so that it appears like the tail of a shooting star whenever he’s flying fast.

And another design-colour thing to mention is the green bands on his wrists. Those aren’t his. They’re from his enchantment of being unable to return back to the sky. I guess you can see it as a reference to Genie and his golden armbands that chain him down.
