Cyber
sooo I saw Impulse's newest Hermitcraft 10 thumbnail and I SPED to draw his new skin! Credits to @maxx-doodles for the super fun cyberpunk design :) I like to think he's surveying the landscape and coming up with his next build idea.

Let them have their fun. Itā€™s not that deep. The creators are not as concerned with the lore like the fandom is. They see the shit you guys say. I will NEVER forgive you guys for making Scar and Grian feel like they canā€™t team up. Donā€™t let it happen to Pearl, Scott, and Cleo. Itā€™s not fun anymore. Youā€™re being a problem.

Upon further inspection, I think the beginning of ep2 S2 was a suicide attempt from Jinx. We see how deep she is in the water, she's so far away from the surface and she's holding her breath for such a long time. She doesn't seem to have any intention of leaving either, we see how much she clings to him. In this scene we hear Silco's line "have you had enough?" I've made a post about the inclusion of this line back when the act came out. I questioned the inclusion of this line because originally I thought that Silco's monologue was meant for the audience only, so how would Jinx be aware of this line? Unless he had given her that monologue once upon a time?
But for this post I'm going to focus on the context of the line. Silco talks about the dichotomy of drowning, the inherent peace and also the violent instinct to fight the water and survive. "Have you had enough" is the question of this dichotomy. Have you had enough of drowning, or have you had enough of living? The fact that we hear this line in this moment means Jinx had the option to join Silco in the water or to go back to zaun, to the surface. She screams in frustration after this line is given. Like she wanted to join him and decides she can't, not yet, despite how much she yearns for it.
As a matter of a fact, everytime jinx speaks in suicidal language, it is in connection with silco. It is about being with silco again, in a way. We have this moment then the next moment happens in the office. She says "if you want me to play your stupid revolution game, speak up now or I guess...I guess you're really gone, and there's no reason to stay here anymore." I've made a post about this line too. Where exactly is here? Does she mean the office? Zaun? Or does she mean life, if Silco's gone what's the point of being alive anymore? The final moment of course is that whole "break the cycle" thing which I don't think I need to talk about for obvious reasons.
Ive seen people suggest that the opening to ep2 was fake due to the fact that she's so deep and survives for so long and because Silco's right eye is closed, despite the fact that it didn't have an eye lid all of s1. I disagree with this take because it severely cheapens this moment.

Introducing the Erased AU!!! or as I like to call it: The Mysterious Disappearance of Normally Oak
Hehehehe I actually came up w/ this back in May (with the help of @kaseyskat <3) but it's been modified to be more canon compliant since some recent things got the brain gears turning :]c
The premise is essentially Norm and Dood do some. very silly goofs. aka w/out telling anyone Normal decides to go back to the Doodler's home dimension w/ Dood to keep them company and through some magic shenanigans everyone now has no recollection of Normal or the Doodler apocalypse- everything is a picturesque happy ending... or is it?
Sparrow is the first to realize something's up due to her new art studio being where Normal's bedroom used to be, but the others aren't very far behind. They all have to put the clues they discover together in order to figure out what happened and bring Normal back. Speaking of, I dunno how long a human can last in an eldritch dimension after all...

So I've been discussing the idea of "having a hard time" diving back into old shows - particularly those I was obsessive about in the past.
One of those shows - was Bakuten Shoot Beyblade. I believe I've mentioned it a few times before, but from approximately 2003 to 2009, this was my absolute JAM. After Digimon Tamers, it was the very first anime I was "active" about in German forums, I wrote RPGs, I wrote fanfiction, I drew fanart... You name it. And while I thought I had the main cast down to a T, I am pretty sure that, after being out of the series for so long, I would analyze them a little bit differently today. Heck, I think even my preferred shipping choices have changed somewhat from how they were back then... (To be fair, I have always liked every single combination between the main four, but I would definitely say that some of those are more dear to me than others.)
I think I'd really like to write some character analysis for them at some point. I always enjoyed taking apart their respective tropes and see how their traumas unfolded. And, looking at how even modern depictions of them go, I seem to not have been that far off after all!
To keep it as shortly as possible:
Takao may, at first glance, strike you as your typical shounen protagonist who loves to eat a lot and believes in the power of friendship to succeed - and while these aspects about him are certainly true, it's interesting to watch how it all unfolds between the first and third season. There is a fine line between his genuinely good heart, a passion for what he loves and an ego he has to overcome sometimes. I would even argue that he is one of the most misunderstood characters out there; because due to his family background, he does have severe abandonment issues, fearing to be left behind and thus he doesn't react well to situations like that - either he turns into a wounded puppy or covers it up with a mask of cockiness. He can be brash and hotheaded - but he genuinely loves his friends and believes in the good in people (and thus he really gives me magical girl vibes). He knows how to pull others with him, has an incredibly charming and attractive energy and other people feel naturally drawn to him... It's beautiful.
The stereotype Max has always been dealing with was that of the "sugar high ray of sunshine" - and I am delighted to see how wide-spread the idea has become that, while he absolutely IS a positive, open and physical person, he is also masking a lot of his own insecurities and abandonment issues with cocky phrases and a never-ending smile. Because he feels like he has to - to keep the band together, to not lose the sense of togetherness and to not be abandoned and replaced again. Just like with Takao, family-related trauma is at play here. His defensively smart Blading style is oftentimes ridiculed and overlooked, thus kinda playing into him trying to overcome his own inferiority complexes. Both him and Takao adore their newly found family to the core and it's no surprise that they easily click with one another - and that Max seems to have an easy time getting through to almost everyone in the team as well.
Rei - oh my Lord, I will try to keep this one short as well, because he was definitely my fave back in the day. And what's not to love about human-cat-hybrid (good old Neko-Jin days, how I miss thee) with a yin/yang theme going on who has a hard time choosing between his mind and his heart, traditions and freedom, and continuously gets himself into trouble because of that? One may also argue that he's getting the shortest end of the stick because of his inner and outer conflicts A LOT... And despite that, he is just as prone to cockiness, probably also trying to mask his own attachment issues by doing that. The burden of expectations that are constantly thrown at him drives him to the need to find his own path - so he tends to run away and changes direction a lot. Like a true cat does... Man, I love that absolute disaster child, always torn between his values and needs, who, even though loyalty absolutely does play a role for his character, has an even harder time conveying how much his found family means to him. In that regard, he is only topped by one particular character (no pun intended...).
Kai, oh Kai. Edgelord of the century, or, like we used to call him, mister ice cube. Essays upon essays have been written about his character - the cold exterior that was formed by years and years of child abuse (at least in the anime, the manga is an entirely different beast to cover, but even there, the subject of abandonment issues is present again). A cold and cruel mask, a brilliant Blader with an aura of, dare I say it, sadistic fun when it comes to destroying his opponents... And yet, there is that other side of him. The side that is incredibly protective and, in his very own way, supportive. Giving advice through harsh words, claiming that he only has his own interests in mind... But is that really the case? Isn't he, deep down inside, just as smitten by these dorks he is "stuck with"? Obsessed with beating those he claims to be his rivals until his very last breath... A twisted sense of love he probably hasn't fully understood himself yet... Or has he?
Long story short - they are all cocky teenage boys with a passion for spinning tops that play off of each other incredibly well and actually love each other a lot and are probably all bisexual disasters to different degrees, but I will get deeper into sexuality headcanons later.

itā€™s simple. If two or more bamboozlers reach the end I want them to hoist Jimmy on their shoulders as they all comedically die. If itā€™s impulse and pearl I want impulse with a victory hollow enough to rival third life as he realizes what heā€™s lost with Pearlā€™s death. If itā€™s gem and Joel I want them to still be family even as they fight and the juxtaposition of murderous intent and deep love for each other. They should still be hyping each other up as they go. And if itā€™s any of the tuff boys I want the chat blowing up as they claim victory with the pg equivalent of ā€œHOW THE FUCKā€

Genuine thought experiment: if a bob's burgers spinoff was created (regardless of the status of the main show) what would u want it to be focused on? who would you want to be the main characters and story etc

the thing about peep show is i LOVE the premise that every shot is filmed from the POV of a character currently present. and yet cinematographically it's very similar to amateur porn. or maybe it's just the early 2000s styles and undecorated apartment with the windows always closed.

Finally finished sweet tooth s3. Having incredibly mixed feelings
#love the show. love it a lot. about to be a bitch in the tags anyways#it was. so so messy. they needed another season so bad. the alaska trip took up so much of the comics#and that was with the previously established cast#in the show they introduced a million new characters. gave us no time to get to know them before they were thrown head first into the plot#and condensed an arc that was almost half of the comics into the span of like 5 episodes#my boy singh. oh how they massacred by boy#i mean. okay. in the context of the show the arc wasn't horrible for him.#but i think his survival in the comic and his dedication of his life to making up for the mistakes of his past by helping people and hybrids#would've been so much more powerful than his random self sacrifice at the end of the show.#bc honestly it just seems like another impulsive act in his moral flip flop he'd been having for the last few episodes#rather than active choice to be better#and honestly i wanted to see his delusional paranoid religious breakdown from the comics put to screen so bad#it would've been great#i do like that he turned against zhang the second she started trying to talk about rani. that shit slapped#the several fake outs about Jepp's death were so stupid and unnecessary and repetitive#why are you baiting everyone. you're going to piss off the hardcore comic fans waiting for his death and confuse the show fans#either commit to killing him or stop pretending like you're brave enough to do it#why did they flip back so hard into the mystical vaguely eco fascist backstory and outcome of the comic#after spending two seasons trying to build a more scientific and less 'humanity must end' story for two seasons straight#they tried to make it seem less 'humanity must die' again at the end by ending the virus#which i guess might've been the best outcome available considering the source material and the limitations of it's ending#but idk. it felt weird#the writing this season was so much less subtle. it felt like the characters were constantly monologing directly at the camera#nothing could be left unsaid everyone had to say exactly what they meant#and it was all moral lessons the writers were trying to feed directly to the audience#i feel like they wrote themselves into a corner at the end of the last season#and they expected to have at least one more season to write themselves out of it before the ending#and if not. if this was the plan since the beginning. literally what. WHAT.#can not imagine the people who wrote the last two seasons sitting down and writing this#it won't let me add more tags but i have more thoughts. many more. tumblr is silencing me for speaking the truth /j

for all that i understand how it happened as i get older, how rory was emotionally vulnerable throughout season 4 and she wanted to go back to simpler times with dean, plus the way he manipulated her into it and made her believe his marriage was over, it's still insane how INCREDIBLY ooc she is particularly with lorelai, she's so unbelievably bratty and it's not like rory has never been petty or gone off on lorelai or anyone else but up to that point it was always for an understandable reason and this time it isn't remotely justified like she's acting more childish than she has before and it really is mostly just for those 2 or 3 eps but it's still insane to see

my opinion on season 11 is that ian and mickey were all over the place from episode to episode and i ultimately wasnā€™t very happy with where it ended for them
#just felt kind of incomplete and boring in terms of their getting an apartment arc#like mickey was still genuinely very unhappy about it and they just left it like that?#and obviously i didnā€™t love how they did the terry stuff.#i think. thereā€™s something to it because you can never truly predict how youā€™re gonna feel about something like that#even if itā€™s a piece of shit who you truly hate like. feelings happen.#and that could have been interesting to explore but it wasnā€™t done in a way that felt interesting#it just felt like a waste of time when we couldā€™ve been doing other stuff with their screentime#and the beginning was so good i was having sooo much fun when ian was like yeah letā€™s steal an ambulance and yes we can have guns again.#letā€™s fuck in the ambulance. etc.#that was so hot and then they ruined it both in that scene that i wanted to SEE and with where they took the story after#like how quickly ian jumps back to ā€˜well we wonā€™t do crimes then :)ā€™ i thought he was having FUN doing crimes#like are they still doing their security shit? are they still working with stolen equipment?? i want them to do crimes :(#(when i lay it all out like that iā€™m like perhaps ā€˜ian being exited about doing crimesā€™ is not a Good Sign for him. but#it really wasnā€™t presented that way in context. like i donā€™t think thatā€™s what they were going for there#and he can be doing better and still have fun doing stupid shit#a la their little outing before he got arrested by the military#yes that was like. 5 years earlier but iā€™m still like what happened to THAT ian he got boring#and iā€™m not saying like. him being healthy is boring. iā€™m saying let him be healthy and also have fun.#anyway.)#also like. signing a lease on the spot against mickeys wishes. kind of fucking impulsive and reckless. but no itā€™s bc he wants#to have a better life or whatever so itā€™s fine.#idk i just want to see them steal shit and fuck in an ambulance#and i mean like OVERALL ian has not been as much of a Crime Guy as others. certainly not compared to mickey#like heā€™s DONE crimes obviously but not in a. itā€™s his lifestyle way. i guess?#so idk why iā€™m like i want him to go BACK to that if that wasnā€™t exactly what he was doing in the first place#but he LIKES doing shady shit with mickey and having fun and idk why they bothered showing us that#if they were gonna drop it by the end of the season that i can only assume they knew would be the final season#it just felt like they didnā€™t know what to do with the two of them all season and they ended the season in a less satisfying place#than they started#r.txt
