Getting rich and famous writing lesbian bdsm erotica for Tumblr users but then it's discovered that I've plagiarized all the bdsm scenes from Tom & Jerry cartoons

of course inside/outside text is a dichotomy that doesnt exist but i mean inside a text like in high school being given a poem with no information and being told to derive meaning from it like you're doing an integral. which isn't working inside a text either because "reading" is an interface between two things and you're just using your existing knowledge of how to read and what the text can teach you about how to read it; the interest here is in how you learn how to read a genre

small thing that i feel i am approaching from the wrong side but the number of times crozier the terror 2018's tooth gap gets brought up in fanfiction, when to my knowledge historical crozier who died in the arctic had no tooth gap he doesnt even have his mouth open in pictures, which indicates to me that a reader is supposed to be imagining what jared harris looks like which makes sense because it's not rpf it's fanfic for a show, but doing so really firmly roots a work outside of the nebulous historical/fictional zone you can enter where attempts are made at historical accuracy in naval or expedition or slice of life history but fanfic as a medium still works with a reader's expectations or pre-knowledge of the plot/character arc which are fictional. anyway im selfishly interested in how reading works including these details where "reading" seems to be happening outside of the content of the text but it's also fun to hold hands around a celebrity crush
