What happened: Brazil's Federal Congress just fast-tracked and passed bill PL 2903 (formerly known as PL 490). This law removes protections from the Amazon Rainforest by erasing the rights of indigenous peoples, which will lead to unprecedented deforestation with devastating global impact. It also erases the rights and cultures of indigenous peoples from Brazilian history.

Why it matters: By dismantling indigenous communities' historic rights to land in Brazil, PL 2903 opens the door to widespread deforestation by the mining, logging, and agriculture industries. It's an assault on human rights and an existential threat to a critical ecosystem that sustains our livable planet. This law essentially declares war on nature and humanity.

Urgent action is needed: Passed in Brazil’s Congress on May 30th, the bill now heads to the Federal Senate. Furthermore, Brazil's Supreme Court will decide on the legality of this harmful bill on June 7th. Time is of the essence.

Who we are: We are a group of indigenous leaders and non-indigenous allies joining voices to demand URGENT justice for the indigenous peoples of Brazil. We are aligned with leaders from across the Amazon Basin to encourage the people of the world to mobilize their efforts to stop a historic injustice being committed against the indigenous peoples of Brazil.

Remember the 6 year old girl who was surrounded by Israeli tanks and the red crescent couldn't reach her? Her name is Hind Hamadeh. Here you can hear the phone call her 15 year old sister, Layan Hamadeh, made with the medics. She was killed exactly a moment later including all people in the car, except for 6 year old Hind who was stuck in the car with the dead bodies of her family, Israeli tanks and IDF surrounding her, shooting, preventing anybody to reach her.

That was last night (29.1.24). Today, still nothing. The fate of Hind remains unknown.

palestine red crescent ambulance team went to rescue her yesterday evening, but they have not returned as of now. We lost contact with them about 18 hours ago, and we still remain unaware of their fate and whether they succeeded in evacuating her or not.

Chappell Roan, a lesbian, went on a national broadcast tonight and performed a song about dating a closeted woman who refuses to acknowledge their relationship and denies the fact that she’s a lesbian. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that happening but here we are and it’s amazing.

As a lesbian woman, to have an artist go out and be so entirely herself in every way, to be so proud of her own sexuality and to perform a song like this and have it be broadcasted to millions of people…it makes me so emotional. All I have ever wanted as a queer woman is to have this sort of unabashed representation and we’re finally getting it in such an incredible way. What an era we are living in and all I can say is long may it continue and I am so proud to be a Chappell Roan fan.

On a Web Browser:

I had some trouble finding this option. My first instinct was to click the settings button on the left, but that's where it is!

First, you'll click the name of your blog on the left sidebar to bring it up on your browser.

Then click "Blog settings" on the right sidebar once your blog is brought up. That's where they're hiding it.

Click "Prevent Third-Party Sharing" under the Visibility section, and bam! You're done.

On Mobile:

Thankfully it's much easier on mobile. Just click the Gear icon on your blog's page, to go to settings.

Scroll all the way down until you see Visibility, then toggle the Prevent third-party sharing option for your blog!!

If you disable this setting on mobile, it automatically synced it to my web browser settings, too. ...But if you use both Web and Mobile, I would still highly recommend double checking that it actually turned off on both!!

Check that it's turned off on your side blogs too! And check your settings every now and then anyway to ensure that it's staying turned off, because if my memory serves right, some other websites will pull some shenanigans on things like this and opt you back in without telling you!
