ok people actually like hearing me out so hello again hi fi rush tumblr tag i have come with a chai ramble!

i keep thinking about post-game where chai is actually perceived in a positive way, and with his attitude towards receiving compliments and his rather ambiguous self complex - do you think he ever gets overwhelmed by being a rockstar?

many people in his place would, and with how chai is so used to critical comments about him i doubt he'd take the positive reception of being this "cool rockstar" well at first. i wouldn't say he doubts the kind words, but i think he just can't process it well after the insults he's faced with throughout the game, especially seeing the extent to which people will go to to get rid of him.

its one thing to imagine you're on a big stage with people cheering you on, but it's completely different when actually put in that scenario. i feel like chai would be shocked honestly? and probably a bit pressured with his fear of inferiority, his brain kind of nagging him about how he "can't disappoint his fans". and he's not just a random rockstar with overnight fame, he's also the ambassador for one of the most ambitious projects by one of the biggest tech companies in the world. he has to make sure he fits the company image well too!

i really doubt chai would be super chill, not pressured at all by this. i wonder if they'll touch on this in a sequel (skeptical), exploring how his outward attitude would clash with his inner feelings and how he'll cope with it (would the others notice? if so, would they pry? or would they not know until it's too late?). maybe it becomes a big point of conflict, something that holds him back from whatever mission he's on because he can't really accept how pressured or conflicted he feels (he'd probably make a joke about it but i doubt he'd fully accept how much he feels these things) thus he can't let the others know why he's not going through with the plan well.

listen to me. in a swap au ramona's knives would NOT be matthew. matthew got over his heartbreak fairly easily once he had his own musical to perform on and knives does not have that kind of emotional resilience in the face of scott's shittiness she is seventeen years of age. matthew would more likely be like kim or something. he's hiding stuff and he never got closure but at least he has a healthy outlet for his emotions which helps him come to terms with it in some sense. knives would be ROXY. heartbreak central.

The Borg know when things happen in the collective and can arguably feel them, but when an individual is severed from the Borg, that expansive collective consciousness is violently narrowed down to a pinpoint. We know Seven has pretty good proprioception because she agrees that her shoulder hurts when the EMH finds that her biradial clamp is off by 0.3 microns. Because of this, she arguably has a very good understanding of how things in her body feel. That said, she doesn't really complain about physical pains, and we really only see her struggle when things are emotionally difficult.

Since she had been in the collective since she was 6, she wouldn't necessarily know that certain sensations are not normal. If there were any issues that happened as a result of her assimilation, she wouldn't necessarily know they are unusual after she was severed because that's what she has always known.

So back to my original question: can she feel all of her face? Looking at the placement of her facial implants, they are both on the trigeminal nerve. The cheekbone implant is right around the root of the nerve, and the eyebrow piece sits right over another branch. Trigeminal neuralgia is crazy painful, but she could have trigeminal neuropathy and think it's completely normal because she doesn't have a typical baseline to compare it to. I imagine the Borg implants must interrupt some nerve functioning to ensure that the drones move as they are supposed to, and the nano probes would repair any damage that would affect their functioning. But the Borg would consider physical discomfort irrelevant, so relatively minor issues like neuralgia, pins and needles, or any other unusual sensations would not be considered an issue.
