Summary:

While the Emperor is away, the Prince's father makes a discovery. If Luke had hoped for leniency, he would not get it. Day 23: FORCED CHOICE Public Display | Broken Pedestal | “I’m doing this for you.”

Excerpt:

Luke grunted as the Red Guard shoved him down to his knees beside the empty throne. He hit the durasteel with a starburst of pain. He glared at the guard. Was it not enough that he'd been scraped up in the speeder bike crash when he was captured? They had to shove him around, too?

Can’t stop thinking about an au where Luke is the Imperial prince and Ezra fell to the Dark side because of a trick by [insert villain here], he was made to believe his family had abandoned him, thrown him aside, and the despair got to him. In this world, he and Imperial Prince Luke Skywalker knew each other as enemies, often clashing on the battlefield, but they grudgingly respected one another’s skills and intelligence and even made each other grin a few times, so after the ��betrayal’ Luke happens to come across Ezra sobbing (“What are you doing here? Come to laugh at the failed Jedi? Go on then, laugh!”) and manages to pry the story from him, and he can admit he’s furious at those stupid rebels. He’s Ezra’s enemy, but even he knows the man is a powerful adversary with unique skills who inspires hope in even the most downtrodden, and he had seen firsthand how much Ezra’s family meant to him, how much this had clearly shattered him.

It’s not even a decision really, to reach over and take Ezra’s face in his hands, thumbing his tears away and asking if Ezra has anywhere to go, if he needs a place to lay low for a bit. Ezra snarls that he’s not going to fall into an Imperial’s arms just from a little worldshaking tragedy, but he’s trembling at the gentle touch, the genuine anger in those yellow eyes, anger on his behalf. He knew that there was some sliver of good in Prince Skywalker, had seen it in the way he interacted with children and maintained a sense of honor, and it’s these things plus the pure honesty he senses in the Force that make him feel just safe enough to take Luke’s hand.

That and those fierce golden eyes that looked at him like he was worth a damn.

Time passes, they talk, they get to know each other, Ezra finds himself growing protective of Luke, finds himself naturally taking on the role of bodyguard and right hand, having a severe crisis of identity as he realizes that his feelings for Luke are becoming a problem. Likewise, what Luke first saw as an opportunity has swiftly become a turning point in his life because now he can no longer imagine a world without Ezra Bridger at his side, laughing and joking and lightening the heavy burdens that came with being the son of Darth Vader. It all comes to a head one day when Ezra kills a rebel or four to protect Luke, and as he stands there in horror realizing just how far he’s fallen, Luke cups his face with a big warm sincere smile and tells him he did good, that he saved his life, that’s he’s so proud of him, that Ezra is so so good and Luke is so lucky to have found him.

Luke asks Ezra to officially become his right hand, his personal Inquisitor, free to be whoever he wants, answering to no one but Luke. The only rule being to stay by his side forever.

Ezra accepts.

There’s no going back after that, not for Luke, and certainly not for Ezra. Kanan didn’t want him, his family chose Kanan over him, he didn’t really have any other friends, he’d never really fit the mold of a Jedi… might as well give himself over to the Dark. To Luke. At least he could have affection and love, even if unreciprocated. (It’s absolutely reciprocated, Luke is literally crazy about him, possessive and obsessed and completely adoring, but Ezra doesn’t know that)

Years later Luke is quickly gaining power and Ezra is an ever-present shadow at his side, always ready with an easy smile and a sly glint in his blue-yellow eyes, the only one who has the Imperial Prince’s complete and absolute trust. He lounges in the rafters and vents while Luke does important Empire business, he sits on the edge of Luke’s throne and sharpens knives when Luke is negotiating, he props his feet up in Luke’s lap and laughs at the shock and outrage it earns him, especially from Luke’s family. If Ezra isn’t there, Luke is always visibly more quiet and tetchy, to the point where petitioners will call ahead to ask if the Prince’s strange little shadow will be present before coming in.

Ezra takes a special sort of joy in disrupting the plans of the Ghost crew, taunting them and challenging them and getting really angry whenever they ‘pretend’ to have no idea why he suddenly turned to the Dark side, why he turned against them. They want Ezra back so badly, they think Luke did something to him, corrupted his mind or something, why else would he be so loyal? Why else would he say things like “Guess you shouldn’t have thrown me away” and “If I wasn’t enough for you, that’s your problem, not mine”.

Also a side plot where a near death experience has Luke paranoid about Ezra’s safety and he ends up hiring Din Djarin to guard him, much to Ezra’s annoyance. It starts off with Din being stoically silent and Ezra constantly needling him, but the relationship softens as Din takes his job seriously and starts to look after Ezra’s health and sanity instead of just his body, as Ezra starts to make a game out of getting any kind of reaction from Din (“Oooh, a slight exhale, that’s practically a guffaw from you, Din!”) and Luke starts taking a personal interest in keeping Din happy and loyal while also taking time to train his adorable kid, and maybe at first he’s jealous of Din for making Ezra so happy, for edging in on what they have, but then Ezra insists on them getting to know each other and Luke finds that Din is actually very pleasant company and they bond over their affection for Ezra, and Din finds out that the coldly beautiful prince has a kind heart and genuine desire to make the galaxy a better place, even with the Empire’s methods.

The three of them end up as The power trio of the Empire and also a polycule and Grogu gets three dads for the price of one

♚ chapter 1 - when stars collide ♛

iii. the ward

As they approached the party, Y/N gasped. The palace itself matched the over-extravagance of the partygoers: hundred-foot-long velvet tapestries depicting the glory of the Empire decorated the front of the former Jedi Temple in a way seemingly designed to mock its ancient history. The statues of ancient Jedi sages had long been torn down, replaced by a single statue of the Emperor looming over the center of the stairway. Stormtroopers flanked the sides of the building, stony and unmoving, threatening any onlookers who would dare to step a toe out of line.

"Are there normally this many stormtroopers stationed outside of the Imperial Palace?" Leia asked, careful to sound as innocent as possible. It wasn't entirely fake; stormtroopers were nonexistent on Alderaan, so any eavesdropper would assume she was purely unaccustomed to their presence.

"It is standard protocol," Her father responded, and then he lowered his voice. "Although... something about this doesn't feel quite right to me, either."

Y/N shivered. Without saying anything, Leia intertwined their fingers, not quite grasping her hand but still holding on to her as they ascended the palace steps.

A crimson-plated protocol droid stood off to the side of the massive doors at the palace entrance. The palace guards had their staffs crossed, blocking entry to anyone who dared to enter uninvited. Not that anyone would–palace security had a reputation for being both impenetrable and merciless, and although there hadn’t been any incidents as of late, no one dared to find out just what the repercussions would be. There were rumors, however. It was best not to think of them. 

The droid straightened up as they approached, greeting them in a posh, mellifluous voice. “Greetings, loyal citizens of the Empire. I am L-3PO, official Imperial liaison between organics and robotics, tasked tonight with welcoming guests to this most wonderful event. I’ll have to check to see that you’re on the guest list and verify your identities–this will only take a moment!” 

Datapad in hand, the droid scrolled through with their stylus, and Y/N could only begin to imagine how long the list was; just how many planets, and people…

"Presenting the Alderaanian Delegation,” L-3PO said, reading from the illuminated screen. “Her Majesty, Queen Breha Organa, and His Highness, Viceroy Bail Organa.” 

The royal couple bowed and made their way through the doors, pausing just behind the entrance to wait for the girls.

L-3PO spoke again. “Her Highness, Princess Leia Organa, and…?” The droid looked over at Y/N skeptically, mechanical eyes glinting, and she froze. Leia’s eyes flicked between Y/N and her parents nervously, silently begging for their help as Y/N stood unresponsive.

Breha looked over at the frightened girl and stepped in. "Lady Y/N Alde, our ward."

"Oh–my deepest apologies, Your Highness, it took a moment for my database to recognize her face! Forgive my slight malfunction," L-3PO apologized, and the guards backed away, lowering their staffs. "Her Grace, Lady Y/N Alde."

A flame rose to Y/N’s cheeks as she stepped forward, praying her makeup would hide her humiliation as she went to join her party. A few sympathetic glances were thrown her way, but she chose to ignore them, save for the eyes of the princess–eyes that held no patronizing pity. Only anger.

I really loved Vader´s and Prince Xizor rivalry in old school star wars. Their conflict is different to the ones Vader traditionally has.

Xizor isn´t a military adversary, a jedi or a sith, he is a legitimate leader of a very powerful corporation that serves an important role in developing the construction for death star II but he is also a mafia Don,leader of Black Sun, an undersworld organization that shares intelligence with the rebels and the Empire because he is playing the long game and betting to both sides until there´s a clear winner, Xizor is sure the Empire will win but he is covering all his bases. He is also 300 years old so he has done this in the past with the Republic as well, his race lives for such a long time that he sometimes can get bored.

Xizor fight with Vader is mostly political and strategic, he wants to capture and kill Luke Skywalker for the Emperor in a way to show him his capabilities but also to take Vader´s role in the Imperial court, he is aware Vader is a Sith Lord but he doens´t know Palpatine is one as well and so his chances of getting Vader´s position in particular isn´t a safe bet but the Emperor allowed him to think he had an opportunity because his resources are useful and because he wants to test Vader on his political skills.

Vader prepares to confront Xizor because he doesn´t really want to relly on Black Sun for the death star, knowing all the intelligence he most definitely must be sharing with the rebels but more than that he is aware of Xizor ambitions but he isn´t truly worried about his own position, he is worried about Xizor killing his Son or hurting the Emperor which I find honestly cute, at that moment Luke and the Emperor are the people Vader cares the most about so their protection are his priority :D and so his whole role in this story, shadow of the Empire, is to get into the politics of it all, protect Luke, send Boba Fett and another of his agents to protect Han Solo´s carbonite block and keep an eye on Luke´s shennanigans, both the legitimate imperial politics and the underworld ones to keep his Son safe and to protect the Emperor.

This is an interesting story in which Vader´s foe isn´t fighting him directly but looking to show him innefective in his work as the imperial enforcer and leader of the army to defeat him politically, Vader´s initial reaction is to follow the game, aware of his Master expecting him to do that but once his darling Son and Lando decide to bomb to death Xizor´s Corustcant castle to rescue Leia and for his betrayal of the rebellion there´s clear evidence Xizor is trying to kill Luke and his friends right in front of him, so Vader no longer has to hold back.

Love this because this story is bassically about poor Xizor´s no good bad week with the Skywalker family, Leia spying on his archives, taking his intelligence of the death star, Luke bombing his castle and everything around him which is his style and Vader joining for the sake of protecting his boy but also because he kind of likes Luke´s style of burning everything in his sight even if this brings down all his political plans to deal with Xizor personally but he still offered Xizor to be captured out of professional etiquette.

This old flavor Vader is very refreshing, because he shows here how while politics isn´t his arena, he is no slouch at them whe he has to get involved there and I belive that´s something modern star wars comics have not tackled as well as this story did.

If there´s ever a Vader or Empire series, doubtful I know, I would like it to tackle his story from this perspective to truly connect the PT with the OT.

A long time ago in a... well... galaxy full of ducks and mice

Hello there!

How should we celebrate Star Wars Day? Uhm... what about a ride along some italian Disney "parodies" of Star Wars? And I use quotation marks 'cause, it'll probably surprise you but, as of today, there is no real Disney parody of Star Wars.

There are, though, many stories that draw inspiration from some elements of Lucas' saga, starting from "Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio" (1984) amazing fantasy saga by Massimo de Vita that has nothing to do with Star Wars but gives us the first Disney character whose design's been heavily inspired by Darth Vader: the evil Prince of Mists!

Scattered throughout the years there are many other stories inspired by Star Wars from Silvia Ziche's Topokolossal (1997):

Mickey Skyrunner weilds his legendary catalytic baguette as he faces off Pietro Galactus.

up to "Paperoga eroe dello spazio" (2013) a splendid, touching story by Roberto Gagnor and Claudio Sciarrone that culminates in one of the best plot twists ever on Topolino's pages (this story is the dream of any Galactic Empire fan ❤️).

Easy, Gorgius "heir" to Behlpost's throne... who do you think you are? Luke Skywalker? (Spoiler: you're not).

You may call it Behlpost, but that's Naboo royal palace for sure... with imperial guards as it seems 😁 (or are they forerunners of Operation Cinder sentinels? 🤔).

The only story (well, saga actually) that comes the most close to a real parody is Giorgio Pezzin's "Topolino e i signori della Galassia" (1991) which draws heavily inspiration from Star Wars expecially in the second episode.

The main character of this story is Goofy, who finds out to have inherited special powers from some old relative. Powers that make him the only one able to help the Galactic Confederation in their struggles against robots named "the Metals" led by general Titanio who seeks to eradicate every biological life form from the galaxy.

Jeez, Titanio's soldiers may be robots but their aim is as bad as Stormtroopers'... 🤣🤣

That's definitely the Battle of Hoth.

I know for sure there are also Star Wars inspired stories starring Josè Carioca out there, and McGreals' "May the farce be with you" (2005), but, unfortunately, I never had the chance to read them 'cause they've never been published in Italy.

But today's biggest obstacle to a Star Wars parody is Disney's auto-censorship. Yes, 'cause there's a strict rule at Disney that forbids authors to write parodies of other Disney franchises... so any parody of Star Wars (and Marvel) it's a very loud no-no. Sad :'(

We do know, though, that there are at least three finished legit parodies that never saw the light of day. One by Francesco Artibani that was supposed to be published on Topolino and two made-in-Egmont drawn by Cavazzano and Freccero.

Of the latter we can appreciate a beautiful illustration and a single page thanks to Freccero sharing them online a few years ago:

Alas, unless Disney change their internal directives (and there's no way it's gonna happen anytime soon) we'll never get the chance to see these or any other Star Wars inspired story in the near future.

But we can sure appreciate the older ones and if you wanna indulge yourself in something different today... these are the stories you're looking for ;)

With an indolent air, Luke rests his elbows on the railing, leaning forward to better take in the action. Below the Mandalorian is already in motion, beskar a glinting contrast to black walls and floors. Luke’s eyes trail him as he moves, bitter and gluttonous. Watching as Din takes stock of the concrete half-walls, helmet tilting upward to survey the turrets above. Exploring terrain before the simulation is initiated, his professionalism unaffected by the tension that still lingers beneath armor. Compartmentalization is a skill Luke learned involuntarily; a way to cope with the horror that was once his daily existence. Din, by contrast, embodies the very practice of it. That rigid separation between self and other. The Mandalorian’s inner world is so vast, Luke could get lost in it. - Imperial High Prince Skywalker has taken himself a bodyguard.

Luke didn't take into account how he could get tossed into the sea when he was on that mission; he didn't think he'd wake up in someone else's house. There were a man, his baby, and his dog, you see. You'd have to understand — Luke wanted to be a part of it.

Din thinks his biggest problem is going to be hiding his attraction to Grogu’s Scout leader, that is, until he hears something start to follow them through the woods.

Scanning the paper, Din's eyes fall onto a listing that he had somehow missed. Right at the bottom of the page, in smudged black ink, is a listing from the natural history museum looking for a new nighttime security guard. Now that was an interesting thought. - Or, Din is a struggling single father who becomes the natural history museum's new night guard. He's not expecting much out of the job other than a steady paycheque, but when the sun goes down and the exhibits start to come to life, Din needs to find a way to keep everything under control. A task easier said than done, especially when there's a certain Medieval knight who won't leave him alone.

The infinite dark side cookie glitch: A tutorial

Finally got around to posting my first fanfic and im so happy. Im currently writing chapter 7 of this thing as I post chapter 1 so uhhh. yeah. i take my time with this stuff but honestly otherewise id be posting a new chapter every 3 months and idk i wanna be nicer to my readers than that.

Summary: Luke skywalker, prince of the empire, heir to the imperial throne, his entire life is planned before him.

Of course in natural Skywalker fashion he is incapable of being normal and must befriend and fall in love with the daughter of the head chef, piss off many a classist officer, and maybe get caught up in a conspiracy or three along the way.

Or, I saw one too many dark side cookie memes and decided to write a short story about it that ended up with a ten chapter plan that I am definitely going to exceed.

So. Leia Organa Skywalker.

Her parents are a jedi and an elected official. The elected official is a queen, but shes elected. It wouldn't automatically make her offspring royalty. Joe Bidens kid isnt automatically vice president kinda thing.

Her adoptive parents are an elected senator and a woman we know absolutely nothing about.

Why is she a princess?

And after answering this question; why is her brothet not a prince?

so Breha Organa (her adoptive mother) is the queen of Alderaan by birth. Bail Organa (her adoptive father) is the queen’s consort but also the elected senator representing Alderaan in the Republic and then the Imperial Senate. so Leia is a princess through family lineage through the Organas. the only planet that does “elected royalty” is Naboo, her birth mother Padmé’s planet, and she had Leia after her term as queen, and when she was the Republic senator for Naboo.

Breha shows up all over the place in canon other than briefly in ROTS and in the Obi-Wan series, like in the Padmé book trilogy for instance, as well.

the reason Luke isn’t a prince is because he was not adopted by royalty (Breha and her husband Bail).

this is also why it pisses me off that Leia didn’t name her son Ben ORGANA, considering she is the last of a long and now completely deceased royal house of Alderaan. ESPECIALLY since now the canonical reason for Han’s name is literally being assigned by the Empire (from the Solo movie).

this is also why i HATE when people call her Skywalker because she 1) hates her connection to her birth father in canon 2) we can acknowledge her place as A SKYWALKER without giving her a name she never had nor wants to have 3) in canon she spends a ton of her time and energy even as a rebel leader on the run preserving and protecting Alderaanian survivors and culture and her family and house influenced her as a person heavily.

♚ chapter 1 - when stars collide ♛

"Are you sure the feathers are necessary?" Leia asked as her attendant droid, WA-2V, laced up the back of her bodice.

A cloud of white feathers and lavender tulle surrounded her waist and delicately floated to her feet, giving her the appearance of some ethereal being from an old fairy tale.

"It is a costume party," replied Y/N, who was also being fitted in a matching gown. "Besides, I heard feathers are very good for diplomacy."

Leia glared at her, only for the two of them to immediately burst into giggles afterwards. Her deep brown eyes reflected a softness that only Y/N knew; only together could she truly be vulnerable without ever feeling weak or threatened.

However, vulnerability usually referred to dropping the prim-and-proper-princess persona in favor of mischievous girlishness.

The rather flamboyant costumes they wore–which were based upon Alderaanian swans, the heraldic animal of House Organa–were for the upcoming ball for the Grand Vicennial Celebration of the Empire. Holonet News predicted it to be the 'party of the century,' but Y/N had her doubts. Sure, events like these were politically important, but the whole ordeal was just another gross display of the veneer of Imperial wealth and power.

Queen Breha, who oversaw preparing the girls for the ball, placed her hand on Leia's shoulder with playful sternness. "Now, girls, in spite of our opinions of the Empire, it is crucial that the two of you take this event seriously–especially you, Leia."

"I know, mother. It is my duty to represent the Alderaan system with grace and dignity."

"Exactly. And don't think you're free from responsibility, Y/N. You're the sole heir to the House of Alde, and its reputation rests firmly in your hands alone."

"I guess I should be dressed as a thranta, then," Y/N sighed. As fun as it was to be descended from the original namesake of their planet, she didn't like being reminded of the fact she wasn't an Organa.

Breha noticed Y/N's change of mood and gave her a reassuring smile. "If that is what you wish, I can have it arranged. However, I think it is rather charming to have you and Leia in matching outfits."

"And I don't want to be the only one stuck in feathers," Leia retorted.

Y/N turned to face the mirror. Her hair, like Leia's, was done up in plaits encircling her head. A pair of white wings stretched out over the sides of her braids, and from the center extended a chain of pearls ending in a teardrop-shaped jewel of lilac chalcedony at the center of her forehead.

"Why aren't you in a silly costume, mom?" Leia asked, crossing her arms.

"I'm dressed as the Queen of Alderaan. I'm already silly enough," Breha said with a wink. "Now, if you two will excuse me, I have some business to attend to elsewhere. WA-2V, please make sure the girls are ready within an hour."

"Yes, your majesty," whirred the gentle mechanical voice of WA-2V as Breha hurried out of the room.

Y/N turned to Leia and shrugged. Even though Breha was the ruler of the planet, they were always the ones who had to dress up and essentially be put on display at any sort of political gathering.

It wasn't entirely a bad thing–the inner child in Y/N still enjoyed the charm of dancing in beautiful gowns at glittering balls. Ironically, it was one of the few instances where she didn't shy away from being in the spotlight.

Leia, however, had quickly outgrown that sense of romantic naïveté.

"I still have no idea how we're going to dance in these dresses without falling on our faces," Leia whispered.

"We'll just have to be as light and graceful as swans," Y/N whispered back.

"Yeah, right."
