Outspoken supporters include Senators Bernie Sanders, Ed Markey (D-Mass), Alex Padilla (D-CA), and House of Rep Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL). Other lawmakers "expressed alarm" at the Supreme Court's ruling that gives the US president king-like powers of no immunity over any act he deems "official".
Call your senators and reps and ask them to support this impeachment if you ever want to vote after Nov 2024 again.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS THE END OF DEMOCRACY IN THE FREE WORLD AND THE BEGINNING OF TRUMP-LED FASCISM. WE ARE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS PEOPLE.
Have you read about Project 2025, the Christofascist, Nazi-emulating playbook for next year? We are past "don't be dramatic," we have arrived at "fascism is happening."

Given the huge turnout in early voting for that election, the confirmation came DURING the election, just days before final votes were cast.

How to Fix a Broken Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is off the rails — and it’s only going to get worse unless we fight to reform it.
Trust levels and job approval ratings for the Court have hit historic lows due in large part to a growing number of ethics scandals.
Here are THREE key reforms Congress should enact to restore legitimacy to our nation’s highest court:
1) Establish a code of ethics
Every other federal judge has to sign on to a code of ethics — except for Supreme Court justices.
This makes no sense. Judges on the highest Court should be held to the highest ethical standards.
Congress should impose a code of ethics on Supreme Court justices. At the very least, any ethical code should ban justices from receiving personal gifts from political donors and anyone with business before the Court, clarify when justices with conflicts of interest should remove themselves from cases, prohibit justices from trading individual stocks, and establish a formal process for investigating misconduct.
2) Enact term limits
Article III of the Constitution says judges may “hold their office during good behavior,” but it does not explicitly give Supreme Court Justices lifetime tenure on the highest court — even though that’s become the norm.
Term limits would prevent unelected justices from accumulating too much power over the course of their tenure — and would help defuse what has become an increasingly divisive confirmation process.
Congress should limit Supreme Court terms to 18-years, after which justices move to lower courts.
3) Expand the Court
The Constitution does not limit the Supreme Court to nine justices. In fact, Congress has changed the size of the Court seven times. It should do so again in order to remedy the extreme imbalance of today’s Supreme Court.
Now some may decry this as “radical court packing.” That’s pure rubbish. The real court-packing occurred when Senate Republicans refused to even consider a Democratic nominee to the Supreme Court on the fake pretext that it was too close to the 2016 election, but then confirmed a Republican nominee just days before the 2020 election.
Rather than allow Republicans to continue exploiting the system, expanding the Supreme Court would actually UN-pack the court. This isn’t radical. It’s essential.
Now, I won’t sugar-coat this. Making these reforms happen won’t be easy. We’re up against big monied interests who will fight to keep their control of our nation’s most important Court.
But these key reforms have significant support from the American people, who have lost trust in the court.
The Supreme Court derives its strength not from the use of force or political power, but from the trust of the people. With neither the sword nor the purse, trust is all it has.

Everyone is like: “Why get mad about this story? Clarence Thomas knows he’s untouchable. We all know that.” But the fact that he sent out a statement *right away* acknowledging some wrong doings suggests this story is bad. And it might get a lot worse.
Why is someone so supposedly super powerful getting nervous?
Is this the tip of the iceberg?

Hey, maybe I’m missing something in the whole “Trump is arguing he’s immune to prosecution because he was president” situation but doesn’t it say RIGHT FUCKING HERE IN THE GODDAMN CONSTITUTION
Tumblr media
TRANSCRIPTION: “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.”
Constitution of the United States, Article 1, Section 3
Does that… not say all that needs to be said on the matter? I’m honestly baffled.

Regardless of emoluments, Justice Alito has shown that he's the most fervent MAGA justice on the US Supreme Court. He now even beats out Justice Thomas.
Samuel Alito Can’t Even Lie Properly About That Upside-Down Flag
At the very least, Alito needs to recuse himself from all Trump-related court cases. Though frankly, he should be impeached.
Alito was appointed to SCOTUS by George W. Bush. Bush won the 2000 election after the Supreme Court stopped vote recounting in Florida as Democrat Al Gore was closing the gap with Bush. And we remember that Alito wrote the majority opinion in the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022.
Think of Alito when you're tempted to waste a vote on an impotent third party candidate who has no chance of getting elected president and appointing Supreme Court justices.

Guys this just means we have to vote in November. Do not despair yet. Vote, and if you do not want trump or his cronies in office, vote blue no matter who is on the ballot. Yes, even Joe Biden. We can do this. You just need to mobilize, and mobilize others.

Article: John Roberts’ Secret Trump Memo Revealed in Huge SCOTUS Leak
John Roberts’ Secret Trump Memo Revealed in Huge SCOTUS Leak
There you have it, the CHIEF JUSTICE of the Supreme Court was *eager* to run legal interference for Donald Trump.
He also manipulated the other nine justices in the Colorado 14th amendment disqualification-from-the -ballot case into an unsigned opinion for the appearance of unanimity.
Roberts had previously chosen Alito to write the "Trump cannot do anything wrong as president if it is an 'official act' "ruling. But Alito's brazen unapologetic right-wing upside down flag flying at his home made for bad optics.
It's actually surprising because since when does our now fully corrupt Supreme Court even bother to pretend to care about seeming neutral?
Their decisions are now incompetently reasoned, arbitrary, flouting longstanding precedent (stare decisus) and which are far too overly broad.
Broad rulings are bad and are the opposite of the court's longstanding precedent & protocol for issuing limited scope rulings so as to affect the fewest amount of other important laws inadvertently.
The conservative justices get all huffy and upset when their decisions are questioned in light of all the trips & "gifts" (bribes), the open partisanship, and the above noted flaws in written decisions. They scream that they are legitimate as if they can just will themselves to be so.
It's as if the very FACT of them being appointed to the Supreme Court AUTOMATICALLY washes them forever clean of any suspicion of political bias. They were placed there BECAUSE OF their demonstrated right-wing bias and they know it. They meekly do exactly what they were hand selected to do, which is to thwart regulations and to destroy the wall between church and state.
I can imagine the right-wing six all snickering and smirking in private thinking, "What are you *poor* powerless average Americans going to do about us? Nothing! Money & raw political power anoint us as winners and thus the deciders of all laws no matter how much you want those protections. Power always protects power. So just suck it."
If a law cuts into corporate profit SCOTUS will now find SOME way to say that law is "unconstitutional."
Our entire constitution is designed to prevent too much power in any one branch of government. But the SC is abusing its ideally limited power to hand nearly infinite power to the office of another branch, the presidency.
This is why Republicans block Congress all the time now. They don't want new laws. They're happy to stand back while US Supreme Court nullifies decades of hard-won laws to protect Americans. The corrupt SC does so in favor of capitalist oligarchs and the Catholic religious zealotry they want push on all of us for their own selfish reasons.
The corrupt Supreme Court members need to be impeached, found guilty, and ejected.
Vote blue to make this much more likely.
